YAS and TMan87 in "Babysitting? In 2019?"

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD AFTERNOON, BBP FANS! Man, I've been waiting so long to say that again.

Today we have a well-known BBP poster up against a returning veteran, in what is easily the cutest format available, Babysitter! In this format, a more experienced Pokemon accompanies one that's been freshly caught (or bred, who knows how we get a hold of the Pokemon here).

Now that our two battlers have agreed on the rules, let's have a look at the Pokemon being used today--wait, wait, wait, you're kidding, YAS brought WHAT?!

Grima - Yveltal (-)
Type: Dark /Flying
Dark STAB; ignores Attract and Confusion status entirely when using Dark-type damaging and non-damaging attacks. Immune to all status moves used by a Pokémon with the Prankster ability (as well as all moves summoned by a Prankster-boosted non-damaging move).

Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks and the Arena Trap Ability except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Unaffected by Spikes or Toxic Spikes when switching in. Able to hit Pokemon in the evasive stage of Bounce, Fly or Sky Drop with single target moves that hit Pokemon on the field regardless of position.

Stubborn? Maybe. Sturdy? Definitely. ZhengTann (ZT for short) has had plenty of time to harden that hide and slowly build experience... though it's a wonder he's still a Rhyhorn if that's the case. On the chill side of the Chill v. Hyperactive Scale of the team, he likes to hang out around Kévin and the two are often seen having meaningful and profound conversations together. In battle, he's a rounded character, having average offenses and defenses, though there's still much potential to awaken...
ZT as a Rhydon is pretty much the same: stubborn and going straight in, though he now packs a serious punch. Going from quadrupede to bipede allows him to stand his ground much better, and he uses his arms to great effect in conjunction with his deadly horn. But, you know, there's still something lacking...
And BOOM! Here it is, ZhengTann, King of all Rhyhorns and Rhydons. While this evolution didn't really boost his stats, getting Solid Rock further cements his status as a rock-solid wall that will stop you in your tracks if you can't muscle past him. He brushed up his offense a bit, getting all sorts of coverage to take you down while you hopelessly try to scratch him. Outside of battle though, he's a nice fellow, kinda grumpy but still willing to take care of stuff should you ask him nicely enough. He and Kévin often train together and they are said to unleash incredible destructive power during their sparring sessions.

Maybe. Maybe this could work.
But, we'll just have to wait and see when the battle starts! Here's how things are going to go down:

YellowAdminSilver orders.

~ROUND 1~
"Oof, I don't know about this one. The power differential is really, really noticable."
[Both will fall, eventually.]
"Oh, hey, Grail. Coming back from your three-year vacation?"
[I never left. I was simply lost in the Time Machine.]
"...What?"
The two battlers stare each other down before taking their battle stances. Well, I guess I should say ZhengTann looks down on Jabril. A difference of four in Size Class is...well, huge, after all.

Both the combatants are slow, but ZhengTann is the least slow, lumbering forward and using its spiny arms to split the ground in a violent tremor--Earthquake, for those of you watching at home. The attack hits hard, and really embellishes the four-times weakness to Ground attacks that Aron has naturally. Nearly half on Jabril's HP, gone in an instant. But the little Aron isn't giving up yet; Jabril digs up some awkwardly-shaped stones and creates a Rock Tomb around ZhengTann, lowering his Speed in addition to the light damage.

This is where YAS's strategy really comes into its own: now that Jabril is faster than ZhengTann, he can Endeavor freely without worrying about TMan87's substitution accounting for it. The damage is, well, as good as Jabril can get for being clearly outclassed. ZhengTann follows his trainer's orders and Digs underground before unleashing a powerful attack from below! Jabril is in some dire straits now, but the little guy still toughs it out.

Jabril's worsening physical state just causes the next Endeavor to hit harder, really bringing ZhengTann down to size. Alas, not all good things last forever, and another massive Dig attack seals Jabril's fate, flinging the little Aron high into the air. When he came back to earth, Jabril lie KO'd on the arena floor.

An impressive start by YAS leaves Jabril KO'd but leaves ZhengTann in a very precarious position. Grail tells me that "retribution is coming swiftly", whatever that means.

"W-whoa...That thing is huge. This aura...it's..."
[Dark Aura: This Pokemon emanates an intense malevolent aura that increases the Base Attack Power of all Dark type moves on the field by two (2).]
"...What?"
[That is the aura of which you speak.]
"............What?"
The malevolent, monstrous Yveltal takes the stage, spreading its wings and unleashing its majestic--but terrifying--Dark Aura. It's not often you get to see a death god in person, huh? That's the power of BBP! Please keep tuning in and running our ratings up so we can stay afloat, thanks.

ZhengTann seems to be standing strong against Grima despite its horrifying visage, which lends me to think him and TMan87 have some tricks up their sleeves. Being much faster and deadlier, Grima makes the first move, sending out a spine-chilling Dark Pulse that I can even feel from up here in the caster's box! Spooky! The attack hits hard at what HP ZhengTann has left, but the Rhyperior is too stubborn to let things end here. Moving his massive rock arms back and cocking them like the hammer of a rifle, ZhengTann fires a deadly Rock Blast! It hits twice, sending heavy rocks crashing into Grima's wings. That has got to hurt!

Not content with simply dealing damage to ZhengTann, Grima moves to use the Rhyperior's own strength against it with a sneaky Foul Play, using dark energies to enhance its own power by copying ZhengTann's. The damage is pretty similar to before, leaving ZhengTann in a real bad situation. The crafty Rhyperior expected this, though, and prepared a devastating powered-up Counter in advance, throwing all of that damage back and then some!

That impressive attack may be Rhyperior's last hurrah, though; with one last Dark Pulse, the massive Rock-type tumbles to the ground.

Grima sure is powerful, but with some crafty tactics and a lot of raw power, TMan87 managed to put quite a dent into the legendary death bird. It's time to see if TMan87's last Pokemon can finish the job!

"Ohhh, Grail, I have a bad feeling about this."
[Are you sure you are not just being manipulated by the death god's Dark Aura?]
"No, no, I've gotten over that already. They've Pokeproofed the walls here."
[Your concern confuses me.]
"TMan didn't sub for Fly..."
As if the size difference in the previous round wasn't ridiculous enough, now we have the tiny Alolan Vulpix, Cirno, staring Yveltal down. Cirno's ally Rhyperior did quite a bit of damage, but can she pull through and vanquish the death god on her own? Well....

Imagine you're in a fight with someone, and that someone is multiple factors larger, stronger, and faster than you. Now, imagine every time you try to throw a punch, your opponent disappears before you can even throw it, then smacks you upside the head from a different angle you weren't expecting. That's, in the most reductive way possible, how I can explain the absolute slaughter going on right now.

Try as she might, Cirno is unable to land either of her Ice Beams or Frost Breath attacks, due to Grima's high speed allowing it to effortlessly dodge with Fly every single time. What's worse is that the resulting damage from the Fly attacks is huge when you're a tiny Pokemon with tiny HP. Let's just say this round could have not possibly gone worse for Cirno, critical hits notwithstanding.

"Hey, Grail, I was wondering...you mentioned 'retribution' a while ago."
[It will come soon.]
"For...for who?"
[You will see.]
"I really, really don't like when you say stuff like that."
There's an awful, quiet chill in the arena. Grima, low on HP and energy, floats silently with its deadly wings. That Dark Aura isn't budging in the slightest! Despite all of the beatings Cirno took last round, the little white fluffball is still standing, and not only that, she's standing against a death god. Metal.
[I find that offensive.]
Hush, Grail.

Grima opens this round by creating a barrier of energy, protecting it from oncoming attacks. This is due to YAS's instruction warning Grima of damaging Ice-type combination attacks. Speak of the devil...err...Yveltal...there's a damaging Ice-type combination right there! Cirno seems to be in dire straits, so it's not out of the ordinary to see some hugely buffed-up moves in exchange for extra energy. This double Frost Breath conjures up a large deal of snow, but it blows harmlessly into the barrier.

Grima's eyes narrow, and with a heavy beat of its wings, a vicious Dark Pulse flies throughout the air, blasting Cirno head-on. She was already cooling down from her previous combination attack, so she was a sitting Ducklett regardless. Cirno is in really bad shape. I mean, really. Why isn't Grima just finishing it? Does Grima want to lose?

...Hold on a second. I never ended up finishing my League challenge as a kid, but I still have my Dex laying around somewhere...Oh. We may have a problem. It says here, "When its life comes to an end, it absorbs the life energy of every living thing and turns into a cocoon once more." Hm. We might need to evacuate the arena. Perhaps there's a bit more nuance to bringing a massive force of destruction not meant for captivity into a public space.

But...what's this? Victory is so close, all Grima needed to do was fire off one more attack, but here it is, Protecting again. Cirno, hanging on by a thread, fires off a bone-chilling double Ice Beam with nearly all the energy she had left. Luckily for her, she had more energy than Grima, who falls to the ground, exhausted after protecting against that much damage. KO by technicality, I guess! And now we don't have to worry about that world-ending cocoon thing, either.
