your favorite pokemon of every type

Roserade: I think I first really got into Roserade as a member of Team Raider im PMD explorers (since I was already a fan of Gallade and Rhyperior), though I can remember earlier having pranked my sister when she didn't want her roselia evolved. If I had to pick what cemented the lead over the default Ferrothorn, it was however in gen 7. I was not a fan of Alola's design since I lean much heavier towards artificial-looking mons, and was doing monotype runs of the e4 in Moon with the types I felt were lacking. When I got to Poison, my first go was completely wiped by Olivia. I was stunned. Was the region so sterile and oppressive that a typing so iconic as Grass/Poison was not allowed to exist? Turns out, beneath the surface there was still a fighter for the old ways ready to dust off their arm cannons. Most satisfying solo sweep of an AI trainer I've done.

Litwick: I think it's cute. Gen 5 was the generation that really made me love the Ghost type, in part because my strange definitions for cuteness included the likes of this, yamask, frillish, and golett. It certainly helps that Chandelure is a beast that OHKO'd reshiram in my first playthrough and is one of my mains in Pokken for playstyle reasons

Dewpider: Remember my monotype challenge runs in Moon? Bug was actually the one I did for the main story because I thought I at least had a route 1 mon to replace my starter. Holy crap is the magnet area late. I actually consider Ariados to be the star of that playthrough, but they'res no questioning that Araquanid was up there. The pre-evolution is in because I like the design more

Porygon-Z: The original Porygon meets my esoteric standards for cuteness, and I can't say I'm a fan of most Normal-types basic animal designs. The final stage gained a lot of ground in my eyes in gen 7 for mechanical reasons. Not only does it actually get to use one of its signature moves, it even productively uses Conversion's original effect of a type change in addition to its new set-up potential. Now, if they could just do something about the line being framed and put the rat in prison where it belongs...

Magneton: Magnemite is cute, and while I expect some of my familiarity with the line comes from starting with PMD, I actually remember it most for being the first star of a playthrough that wasn't my starter. Said playthrough was the one where I finally sat down and beat Emerald instead of not bothering to go through Victory Road or using it as an extremely inefficient master ball farm for the gen 4 games.

Metagross: Would fill the role of favourite legendary if it fully was one. This was the mon that filled me with awe as a kid. I had seen it out-of-place in the final mains story dungeon of PMD, being postgame-only in Emerald made it rarer than Rayquaza, I knew how hard it was to catch Beldum as a horde encounter in Diamond, and I never found the time to actually train up the result. I think the first time I actually obtained Metagross was in Colosseum, where I was doing my first attempt at what I thought was the final boss and had run out of non-Master Ball options. Now, as one of the only ones of my favourites to be associated with a major canon character, it's my default hope for showing crossovers what a real Steel-type can do (screw lucario and its lack of steel moves being shown)

Gallade: What drew me in to Gallade, as well as some of my original interest in Scizor and Skarmory, was actually how much coverage slashing-based mons got via level-up, which was valuable for someone who believed in 4 attack sets and didn't want to use irreplaceable TMs. It's probably mostly nostalgia at this point, if I was starting pokemon now I'd probably rank Buzzwole in the top spot.

Aggron: as my answer in the other thread, Aron was the standout of the options I had once the world of Pokemon started to open up and I could choose my own allies in PMD.

Claydol: I was collecting the cards (really casually) for some time before getting into the games, and for some reason Team Magma's Claydol was may favourite of all the card art I had seen at that time. I guess it's my 0th pick as a pokemon player? Actual competitive usability aside, a near hazard-immune Rocks/screens/gravity setter and Rapid spinner fits easily into the kind of playstyle I lean into

Skarmory: Started out as the Flying type I discoverd Doubles Earthquake with and inspiring me to look beyond the surface in pokemon as a result. Nowadays, it represents my power fantasies. I want to be a self-sufficient tank. I want to control the battlefield and shrug off hits. I want to have the kind of style that involves Spikes, Stealth Rock, Whirlwind, and Rocky Helmet.

Shedinja: If Skarmory's my base desire for a playstyle, Shedinja is my methods. I love my gimmicks, and I love my overspecialized units. My minmaxed autistic self gets a kick out of having something like this work, saying "you see that hardcoded HP of 1? It's not going to matter" as something of a screw you to the world at large favouring generalists (at least compared to where I sit)

Poiple: It's cute, and more importantly, it's a UB that isn't constrained by being a boss. As someone who likes all of the UBs and wasn't that impressed with the rest of gen 7, we need more mons like it

Bisharp: Sword #5 to go with swords #4 and #6, I always imagined it pairing with Gallade. As a mon I used at the tail end of the B1 ingame, it was one of the mainstays while I experimented on the Battle Subway. I also remember a hilarious bit of luck in my first fight against Alder: I have bisharp as lead, have no idea what Accelgor is going to do, so I just picked a move. Accelgor used focus blast and missed, immediately followed by bisharp using guillotine and hitting.

Aegislash: Honedge was the mon that got me into gen 6, and by extention potentially kept me in Nintendo gaming as a whole since I had no love for the 3DS's main selling point. Even though it was for all the wrong reasons: I had heard about it having No Guard and being slow, assumed the two were related like Vital Throw, and decided that it would make a great user of a move I hadn't been able to successfully try out yet: Metal Burst. Even though the ability and speed were unrelated, Metal Burst gaining no value from the guaranteed hit, and the line not even learning the move, I still found Honedge cute, Stance Change fascinating, and the idea of a literal sword being a special attacker funny enough.

Cryoganal: I liked several of the gen 5 objectmon, and Cryogonal was fortunate enough to not disappoint me ingame like vanillish did. That's about it, really, and the snowflake faces stiff competition from Walrein and Cloyster that I have some more history with

Klinklang: Hey look, the guy who likes magnemite also likes bootleg magnemite. In addition to finding klink cute, I really like how it can theoretically be a special booster with Charge Beam, a physical one with Shift Gear, a mixed one with Gear Up, or a defensive one with Magnetic Flux.

Noibat: Noivern was the first Dragon-type I used that felt specialized, and I like specialists. Being originally uncertain of Noibat's typing is one of the main reasons I caught it to give it that chance in the first place

Mawile: I always struggle whether to display the Mega here, as my main appreciation comes from difference between the original and Mega forms. Mawile is the Deciever Pokemon, but stories about its inspiration can have that arise from necessity. Mega Mawile is anything but deceptive, you know exactly what's going to happen if you get in its way, and I like to think that Mawile always wants to be winning straight-up fights but can only realize that as a mega.
