[SET COMMENTS]
Zapdos’s typing, bulk, and reliable recovery all make it a solid defensive presence, being able to check Pokemon like Corviknight, Mega Lopunny, Kartana, and Mega Gyarados on a consistent basis. Discharge is great due to its good paralysis chance, allowing it to cripple Pokemon like Kyurem and Tyranitar. Heat Wave allows Zapdos to threaten Rillaboom, Kartana, Mega Scizor, and especially Ferrothorn. Hidden Power Ice can consistently threaten Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Gliscor, which would otherwise stuff out Zapdos; however, Defog can be used over it to remove entry hazards against Pokemon like Ferrothorn. Unfortunately, Zapdos has a very poor matchup against many other hazard setters in the tier, most notably Mega Tyranitar and the aforementioned Landorus-T and Garchomp, making it somewhat unreliable as a hazard remover. Static is preferred over Pressure to potentially cripple offensive threats like Mega Lopunny, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Mawile. The EV spread shown allows Zapdos to outspeed Modest Heatran.

Zapdos fits on many team archetypes as a solid defensive presence. It has a pretty bad matchup against the best hazard setters in the metagame such as Garchomp and Landorus-T, so checks to them such as Ice Beam Slowbro and Mega Latias, bulky Kartana, and Tapu Fini are very valuable partners. Zapdos especially has a poor matchup versus Heatran, as it can easily force out Zapdos using Magma Storm and Toxic, giving it an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Because of this, checks to Heatran such as Gliscor, Garchomp, and Gastrodon are necessary teammates for Zapdos. Wallbreakers that heavily appreciate Zapdos's paralysis support such as Mega Mawile and Mega Medicham are good partners for it as well.

move 2: Hurricane
move 3: Weather Ball
move 4: Roost
item: Heavy-Duty Boots

[SET COMMENTS]
Zapdos is a great choice on rain teams, as it provides a buffer against Pokemon like Kartana and Rillaboom while still exerting a great amount of offensive pressure. Weather Ball allows Zapdos to hit Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Gliscor, and especially Heatran super effectively in rain. Roost gives it longevity and allows it to consistently check Pokemon that rain struggles with such as Tangrowth, Kartana, and Rillaboom. The EV spread allows Zapdos to 2HKO Garchomp with Hurricane even without entry hazards up, and the Speed EVs allow it to outspeed Kommo-o and Adamant Mega Medicham, whilst the HP allows Zapdos to check the Pokemon it needs to more efficiently.

Pelipper is a crucial partner for Zapdos, as its rain makes Zapdos's otherwise unreliable STAB moves have perfect accuracy and turns Weather Ball into a Water-type move, letting Zapdos more consistently pressure Pokemon such as Heatran, Garchomp, and Clefable. Zapdos pairs very well with Ferrothorn, as Ferrothorn’s Spikes support makes it harder for Pokemon such as opposing Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, and Heatran to switch into Zapdos. Additionally, Mega Swampert, Manaphy, and Ash-Greninja heavily benefit from Zapdos resisting Grass and removing Grass-types with Hurricane. Mega Swampert works particularly well, as it is able to overwhelm Pokemon Zapdos struggles with such as Blissey, Mega Tyranitar, and Tyranitar.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Volt Switch can be used over Discharge to get out of disadvantageous positions while also providing momentum for teammates; however, it makes it harder for Zapdos to beat Pokemon such as Corviknight, Tapu Fini, and Toxapex. Pressure can be used over Static on stall teams to PP stall entry hazards from Clefable, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory for example, but it is very team specific. Thunderbolt can also be used on stall for its significantly lower paralysis chance, since full paralysis can hinder PP stalling, and higher PP. If Zapdos is using Defog over Hidden Power Ice, Hurricane can replace Heat Wave, as it threatens Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor; however, Zapdos loses its ability to heavily damage Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Pokemon like Gastrodon, Hippowdon, and Mega Swampert can easily take advantage of Zapdos and force it out, as they can wear it down with Toxic or overwhelm it.

**Ice-types**: Ice-types like Kyurem and Weavile are very problematic for Zapdos, as they can easily KO it. However, neither likes to switch into it, as Kyurem can be crippled with a Discharge paralysis and Weavile falls to two Heat Waves.

**Knock Off**: Knock Off users that Zapdos would otherwise switch into such as Toxapex, Kartana, Rillaboom, and Ferrothorn can remove its Heavy-Duty Boots, potentially making it much less effective and efficient.

**Rock-type Pokemon and Coverage**:Mega Tyranitar and Tyranitar not only take miniscule damage from Zapdos but can force it out by threatening a KO with Stone Edge, so they can easily either set up Stealth Rock or Pursuit trap Zapdos. Additionally, Landorus-T and Garchomp can often force Zapdos out with Continental Crush.

**Blissey and Chansey**: Blissey and Chansey are not threatened in the slightest by Zapdos, especially given their reliable recovery, and freely spread Toxic. Furthermore, Blissey can use Zapdos for momentum for its teammates through Teleport.

**Dragon-types**: Kommo-o, Mega Latias, and Hydreigon aren't threatened by Zapdos's attacks and can use it as entry hazard or setup fodder; however, the latter two do not enjoy a Discharge paralysis.

Zapdos is an excellent utility and defensive Pokemon due to its great defensive typing and utility, as its ability to cripple Pokemon such as Heatran, Hydreigon and Mega Lopunny with paralysis is incredibly useful for slow wallbreakers such as Dracovish and Mega Mawile. I feel like this first sentence is rather misguided; The paralysis is nice enough but it is absolutely not the main reason Zapdos is run. Instead, focus on what it directly checks, and how its a defogger that is capable of beating common hazard setters like ferrothorn. Discharge is highly preferred over Thunderbolt due to its higher paralysis chance. Heat Wave is used to hit Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Mega Scizor, Kartana, and Ferrothorn super-effectively; You have to emphasize that Heat Wave also lets it keep hazards off against Ferrothorn reliably however, that can be replaced with Hidden Power Ice, which gives it an option to threaten Ground-types such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Garchomp. Again, talk about its ability to threaten the rockers of Lando and Garchomp. Hidden Power Ice also prevents Dragapult from safely setting up on Zapdos. Roost is a good form of reliable recovery that keeps it healthy against Pokemon that don't damage it much, such as Slowbro, Tapu Fini and Clefable. Fluff 80 72 Speed EVs allow it to barely outspeed Pokemon such as Manaphy and Modest Heatran. Emphasize Heatran here, and also talk about outrunning anything slower, like Dracovish and Magearna. Static is the prefered ability for its chance to paralyse Physical attackers such as Mega Lopunny and Mega Scizor, however you can use Pressure over it on stall teams in order to PP stall them with Roost instead of paralysing them. Mention PP stalling Clefable's Stealth Rock specifically.

Zapdos can fit on a wide variety of teams, ranging from bulky offense to full stall teams. While Zapdos can beat common Stealth Rock setters with Hidden Power Ice, it has to choose between Heat Wave and Hidden Power Ice for its targets, and without Hidden Power Ice, it struggles to deal with Stealth Rock setters such as Garchomp and Landorus-T, as such, good checks to them such as Slowbro and Kyurem are necessary teammates for Zapdos. I think this is a really roundabout way of saying what you need to say. Just say that Zapdos has to choose between Heat Wave and HP Ice depending on what it wants to beat. Also Kyurem is a terrible Garchomp check, so find another example. Be sure to mention answers to Ferrothorn for HP Ice Zap. Zapdos can also struggle heavily with Heatran, as it does not take a lot of damage from Discharge and can trap it with Magma Storm and take it out, so Water- and Ground-types such as Tapu Fini, Gastrodon and Garchomp are great partners because of this.

There is a decent amount more that should be said here. It should be emphasized that Zapdos needs support in the physical walling department; specifically from bulky waters because they can check Vish, Ace, and Chomp if you mention Slowbro. The Heatran mention can be extended to other special attackers too, so mention a few others and their checks as well.

However, that can be replaced with Hidden Power Ice, which gives it an option to threaten Ground-types such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, Lando is super important so plz don't forget this and Garchomp. Hidden Power Ice also prevents Dragon Dance Dragapult from setting up Substitutes safely against Zapdos. 72 Speed EVs allows you to always outspeed Pokemon such as Timid Magearna, Adamant Dracovish and especially Modest Heatran. You don't have to say especially, just move the most prominent target to the front of the list. Static is the preferred ability for its chance to paralyse Physical attackers such as Cinderace, Mega Lopunny and Mega Scizor, however you can use Pressure over it on stall teams in order to PP stall them with such as Clefable's and Gliscor's Stealth Rock.

Zapdos is an excellent utility and defensive Pokemon due to its great defensive typing, access to reliable recovery, and a handy pair of abilities and utility. Its great typing allows it to check dangerous offensive threats such as Kartana, Corviknight and Tapu Fini Mega Lopunny, Excadrill, and Mega Scizor, while its ability to potentially cripple Pokemon such as Heatran, Cinderace, Hydreigon and Mega Lopunny with paralysis is incredibly useful for slow wallbreakers such as Dracovish, Heatran, and Mega Mawile and beat common hazard setters like Ferrothorn and Landorus-T, however that depends on which coverage option you choose on Zapdos. Zapdos is also a fine Defogger, as its good bulk gives it multiple opportunities in a match to remove entry hazards. Moreover, Zapdos also has a positive matchup against Ferrothorn, and, if running Pressure, most Stealth Rock Clefable and Hippowdon as well. Discharge is highly preferred over Thunderbolt due to its higher paralysis chance. However, Thunderbolt should be run on stall teams in order to prevent paralyzing the opposition and giving them more passive PP. Heat Wave is used to hit Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, Kartana, and Tangrowth super-effectively, which Zapdos can prevent from setting up Spikes freely. However, that can be replaced with Hidden Power Ice, which gives it an option to threaten punish Ground-types such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Garchomp on the switch. Hidden Power Ice also prevents Dragapult from setting up safely against Zapdos. 72 Speed EVs allows you to always outspeed Pokemon such as Modest Heatran, Adamant Dracovish and Timid Magearna. 248 HP EVs ensure Zapdos can take at least four rounds of Stealth Rock damage if Heavy-Duty Boots gets removed by Knock Off. The remaining EVs are invested into Defense in order to safely check the like of Mega Lopunny, Heavy-Duty Boots Cinderace, and Kartana. Static is the preferred ability for its chance to paralyse Physical attackers such as Mega Lopunny, Cinderace, and Mega Scizor, -Pressure should get its own sentence, this does not read well- however you can use Pressure over it on stall teams -Pressure is fine on non-Stall teams as well- in order to PP stall them with such as Clefable's and Gliscor's Stealth Rock from Clefable, Hippowdon, and Gliscor, as well as Defog from Corviknight, Tapu Fini, and opposing Zapdos.
-Volt Switch should be mentioned-

Zapdos can fit on a wide variety of teams, ranging from balance to bulky offense to full stall teams. While Zapdos can beat common Stealth Rock setters with Hidden Power Ice, it has to choose between Heat Wave and Hidden Power Ice for its targets, and without Hidden Power Ice, it struggles to deal with Stealth Rock setters such as Garchomp and Landorus-T -Zapdos struggles vs Garchomp & Landorus-T as a Defogger no matter what coverage move it runs; both can just take Zapdos out with Continental Crush before it gets to respond- . As such much, good checks to them such as Slowbro, Tangrowth, and Mega Latias and Corviknight -Corviknight hugely overlaps with Zapdos and should never be advertized as a teammate- are necessary advisable teammates for Zapdos. Zapdos can also struggle heavily with Heatran, as it does not take a lot of damage from Discharge and can trap it with Magma Storm and take it out, so checks to it such as Tapu Fini, Gastrodon and Garchomp are great partners because of this. There's quite a few Pokemon that can take advantage of Zapdos very easily, with notable examples being Dragapult, Gliscor, Hydreigon, Kyurem, Volcarona, Calm Mind Clefable, Mega Latias, and Mega Latios. Clefable and Slowbro can handle Dragapult and Gliscor, respectively, while Blissey can take care of the rest. Blissey is particularly notable due to patching up Zapdos's less-than-desirable Special Defense against the likes of Ash-Greninja and Magearna. Zapdos may also struggle with strong special attackers such as Ash Greninja and especially Hydreigon, so answers such as Blissey and Tapu Fini are useful partners. -This sentence didn't quite capture the weaknesses Zapdos brings to the table, so I've rewritten it and included more examples to paint a much better picture- While Zapdos is able to check many great Pokemon, its physical bulk can fall short, as it can be easily overwhelmed by Pokemon such as Dracovish and Garchomp, so checks to them such as Slowbro and Tangrowth are good teammates because of this. -This has been addressed earlier on-

Please do reread your content before you send it to QC. Painting Tapu Fini and Corviknight as offensive threats & Corviknight as a good partner to Zapdos are very questionable claims that should absolutely not be here in the first place. There's also some obvious grammar errors, which can be prevented by giving the analysis a final read.

Anyway, tag me once this is implemented so I can take a final look.

Its typing, bulk, and access to reliable recovery all make Zapdos a solid defensive presence, being able to check Pokemon like Tapu Fini, Corviknight and Mega Scizor on a consistent basis. Unfortunately, it has a very poor matchup against the best hazards setters in the tier, most notably Landorus-T, Mega Tyraniar, and Garchomp, making it sometimes unreliable as a hazard remover. Discharge is preferred over Thunderbolt due to its paralysis chance, allowing it to cripple Pokemon like Magearna, Kyurem and Tyranitar. Heat Wave allows Zapdos to hit Pokemon like Mega Scizor and especially Ferrothorn super effectively. Static is preferred over Pressure due to its chance of paralysis after being hit with a contact move, thus being able to potentially cripple offensive threats like Mega Lopunny and Mega Mawile. The EV spread shown allows Zapdos to outspeed Modest Heatran and Timid Magearna, while also taking as many physical hits as it possibly can.

Zapdos fits on a large amount of team archetypes as a solid defensive presence. Zapdos has a pretty bad matchup against the best hazard setters in the metagame such as Garchomp and Landorus-T, because of this, checks to them such as Slowbro and Calm Mind Tapu Fini work as very valuable partners for Zapdos. It might be worth mentioning bulky Swords Dance Kartana here, who can also deal with Mega Tyranitar and can deal with Knock Off Ferrothorn. Zapdos especially has a poor matchup versus Heatran, as it can take advantage of it by setting up Stealth Rock because it is forced out due to Magma Storm and Toxic; checks to it such as Gliscor, Garchomp and Gastrodon are necessary teammates for it. Wallbreakers that heavily appreciate Zapdos' paralysis support such as Mega Mawile and Mega Medicham are good partners for it.

Zapdos can become more offensively oriented on rain teams. Due to its typing and access to recovery, Zapdos is one of the best choices for rain teams. One of these sentences needs to be removed or they need to be merged, they read very awkwardly Weather Ball allows Zapdos to hit Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Gliscor and especially Heatran in rain super effectively. Roost gives it longevity and allows it to consistently check Pokemon that rain struggles with such as Tangrowth, Kartana, and Rillaboom. The EV spread allows Zapdos to 2HKO Garchomp with Hurricane even without hazards up and the Speed EVs allow Zapdos to outspeed Mega Medicham by one point, whilst the HP allows Zapdos to check the Pokemon it needs to more efficiently.

Pelipper is a crucial partner for Zapdos, as the rain provided makes Zapdos's otherwise unreliable STAB moves have perfect accuracy, thus more consistently pressuring Pokemon such as Heatran, Garchomp, and Clefable. It also lets Weather Ball become Water-type in the first place. Zapdos pairs very well with Ferrothorn, as the Spikes support that Ferrothorn provides for Zapdos makes it harder to switch into for Pokemon such as Mega Mawile and Heatran. Furthermore, Mega Swampert and Ash-Greninja heavily benefits from Zapdos's presence; as Zapdos's resistance to Grass-types and ability to remove them with Hurricane can make Mega Swampert much more potent.

Zapdos can use Hidden Power Ice over Heat Wave for a better matchup against Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor, however it's fairly unreliable as it loses its great matchup against Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn otherwise. Volt Switch can be used over Discharge to get out of disadvantageous positions while also providing momentum for teammates, however it makes it harder for Zapdos to beat Pokemon such as Corviknight, Tapu Fini and Toxapex. Pressure can be used over Static on stall teams to PP stall Stealth Rock from Clefable and Hippowdon for example, however it is very team specific, making Static a better option overall. It’s worth mentioning Thunderbolt can be used on stall teams as well, since stall teams dont want to spread paralysis (theyd rather poison/burn stuff).

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Pokemon like Garchomp and Landorus-T can easily take advantage of Zapdos and force it out due to its poor matchup against them, allowing them to set up hazards pretty easily, however Hidden Power Ice can threaten both of them and eases its matchup versus them much more. They are also dispatched by Weather Ball from the offensive set.

**Ice-types and Coverage**: Pokemon like Kyurem and Weavile are very problematic for Zapdos, as their STABs can easily KO Zapdos, however neither likes to switch into it, as Kyurem can be crippled with a Discharge paralysis and Weavile can get knocked out by Heat Wave.

**Knock Off**: Knock Off users such as Toxapex, Clefable, and Ferrothorn can remove Zapdos's Heavy-Duty Boots, which is very detrimental for it as it can become much less effective and efficient at its role.

Mention both Tyranitar formes as they cripple both defensive and offensive Zapdos

Mention Blissey, who easily tanks attacks from both defensive and offensive sets

Zapdos can become more offensively oriented on rain teams due to its typing and access to recovery, Zapdos is one of the best choices for rain teams. Zapdos is a great choice on rain teams as it provides a buffer against Pokemon like Kartana and Rillaboom while still exerting a great amount of offensive pressure. I think one of the biggest reasons Zapdos is chosen on rain is its near unwallable and useful coverage under rain and the fact its typing allows it to somewhat check nuisances to rain, so emphasizing those two points would be useful in the starting sentences. Weather Ball allows Zapdos to hit Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Gliscor and especially Heatran in rain super effectively. Roost gives it Zapdos longevity and allows it to consistently check Pokemon that rain struggles with such as Tangrowth, Kartana, and Rillaboom. The EV spread allows Zapdos to 2HKO Garchomp with Hurricane even without hazards up and the Speed EVs allow Zapdos to outspeed Kommo-o and Adamant Mega Medicham by one point, whilst the HP allows Zapdos to check the Pokemon it needs to more efficiently.

Zapdos pairs very well with Ferrothorn, as the Spikes support that Ferrothorn it provides for Zapdos makes it harder to switch into for Pokemon such as Mega Mawile opposing Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, and Heatran to switch in. Mega Mawile is a really weird mention since it's 2HKOed by Thunder and Weather Ball under rain, and takes a decent chunk from Hurricane. Mega Scizor on the other hand is at worst 3HKOed by any of Zapdos' attacks and can pivot into a revenge killer. Ferrothorn is also a worthwhile mention as it can switch-in pretty comfortably and of course, both hate Spikes. Furthermore, Mega Swampert, Manaphy, and Ash-Greninja heavily benefits benefit from Zapdos's presence; as Zapdos's resistance to Grass-types and ability to remove them with Hurricane can make both Mega Swampert and Ash-Greninja the aforementioned examples much more potent. Mention that Mega Swampert in particular can also bust open Pokemon Zapdos hates (Tyranitar and Blissey come to mind)

Hippowdon is a really weird mention since it can Toxic and slow Earthquake Zapdos on Roosts, essentially beating it 1v1 while Zapdos can't do much in return. Spikes are also something useful it can PP stall. Thunderbolt can also be used on stall for its significantly lower paralysis chance and higher PP. Mention that these two factors contribute to Zapdos being able to more efficiently pp stall. Also mention Hurricane and its pros and cons (threatens grounds more and keeps damage on kart and rilla, no longer chunks mega scizor and ferrothorn).

Checks and Counters

**Ground-types**: Pokemon like Garchomp and Landorus-T can easily take advantage of Zapdos and force it out due to its poor matchup against them, allowing them to set up hazards pretty easily, however Hidden Power Ice can threaten both of them and eases its matchup versus them much more. See comment on the Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar section below. Remove the current examples and mention Gastrodon, Mega Swampert, and Hippowdon and reword the entire section to be around them.

**Ice-types and Coverage**: Pokemon like Kyurem and Weavile are very problematic for Zapdos, as their STABs can easily Ice-type attacks can KO Zapdos. There should be emphasis on the Ice-type STAB since its the only thing relevant to this section. however However, neither likes to switch into it, as Kyurem both can be crippled with a Discharge paralysis and , along with Heat Wave being able to 2HKO Weavile can get knocked out by Heat Wave. Weavile is 2HKOed by Heat Wave. Mention what pokemon would carry Ice-type coverage.

**Knock Off**: Knock Off users such as Toxapex, Clefable, and Ferrothorn can remove Zapdos's Heavy-Duty Boots, which is very detrimental for it as it can become much less effective and efficient at its role. Mention Kartana and Rillaboom, Pokemon that can Knock Off the usual switch-in to them being Zapdos.

**Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar**: Both Tyranitar forms not only take miniscule damage from Zapdos but can force it out by threatening a KO with Stone Edge, therefore they are able to easily take advantage of Zapdos by either setting up Stealth Rock or Pursuit trapping it. I would probably make this section into Rock-types and rock coverage in general. Landorus-T and Garchomp in specific can mainly threaten Zapdos with Continental Crush or in Landorus-T's case Smack Down, while their more defensive variants don't give Zapdos as much trouble. As a result all of these Pokemon strive with getting up Stealth Rock.

**Blissey and Chansey**: Blissey and Chansey are not threatened in the slightest by Zapdos as they take very little from its attacks, spreads status with Toxic and has access to reliable recovery to continue countering Zapdos. Mention Blissey being able to use Zapdos as a way of gaining momentum for Blissey's team.

I would also make a section about Dragon-types. Pokemon like Mega Latias, Hydreigon, and Kommo-o can all really just come in and take advantage of Zapdos via setup, while Zapdos can at most fish for a paralysis with Discharge.

A lot of grammar and sentence structure issues here, should probably read over the analysis once implemented to make sure all sentences flow smoothly. One major grammar issue I picked up was that when listing examples, you didn't put a comma after the last thing listed before "and".
For example, "Rillaboom, Kartana, and Mega Lopunny." So be sure to look out for that one especially.

Solaros would like for this to be given another look before QC 2/2.

Roost gives it longevity and allows it to consistently check Pokemon that rain struggles with such as Tangrowth, Kartana, and Rillaboom. The EV spread allows Zapdos to 2HKO Garchomp with Hurricane even without hazards up and the Speed EVs allow Zapdos to outspeed Kommo-o and Adamant Mega Medicham, whilst the HP allows Zapdos to check the Pokemon it needs to more efficiently.

Pelipper is a crucial partner for Zapdos, as the rain provided makes Zapdos' otherwise unreliable STAB moves have perfect accuracy along with turning Weather Ball into a Water-type move, thus more consistently pressuring Pokemon such as Heatran, Garchomp, and Clefable. Zapdos pairs very well with Ferrothorn, as the Spikes support that Ferrothorn provides for Zapdos makes it harder for Pokemon such as opposing Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, and Heatran to switch in. Furthermore, Mega Swampert, Manaphy and Ash-Greninja heavily benefits from Zapdos' presence; as Zapdos' resistance to Grass-types and ability to remove them with Hurricane can make the aforementioned examples much more potent. Mega Swampert in particular as it is able to overwhelm Pokemon Zapdos struggles with such as Blissey and Tyranitar forms.

Volt Switch can be used over Discharge to get out of disadvantageous positions while also providing momentum for teammates, however it makes it harder for Zapdos to beat Pokemon such as Corviknight, Tapu Fini and Toxapex. Pressure can be used over Static on stall teams to PP stall hazards from Clefable, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory for example, however it is very team specific, making Static a better option overall. Thunderbolt can also be used on stall for its significantly lower paralysis chance and higher PP. If Zapdos is using Defog over Hidden Power Ice, Hurricane can replace Heat Wave as it threaten Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor, however it loses its ability to heavily damage Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Pokemon like Gastrodon, Hippowdon and Mega Swampert can easily take advantage of Zapdos and force it out due to its poor matchup against them, as they can wear it down with Toxic, or overwhelm it respectively.

**Ice-types**: Pokemon like Kyurem and Weavile are very problematic for Zapdos, as their Ice-type attacks can easily KO Zapdos. However neither likes to switch into it, as Kyurem can be crippled with a Discharge paralysis along with being able to 2HKO Weavile with Heat Wave.

**Knock Off**: Knock Off users that Zapdos would otherwise switch into such as Toxapex, Kartana, Rillaboom, and Ferrothorn can remove Zapdos's Heavy-Duty Boots, which is very detrimental for it as it can become much less effective and efficient at its role.

**Rock-types and coverage**: Both Tyranitar forms not only take miniscule damage from Zapdos but can force it out by threatening a KO with Stone Edge, therefore they are able to easily take advantage of Zapdos by either setting up Stealth Rock or Pursuit trapping it. Additionally, Landorus-T and Garchomp can often threaten Zapdos out with Continental Crush.

**Blissey and Chansey**: Blissey and Chansey are not threatened in the slightest by Zapdos as they take very little from its attacks, spreads status with Toxic and has access to reliable recovery to continue countering Zapdos. Furthermore, Blissey can use Zapdos for momentum for its teammates through Teleport.

**Dragon-types**: Kommo-o, Mega Latias, and Hydreigon aren't threatened by Zapdos' attacks and can take advantage of it through setting up hazards against it and using it as setup fodder respectively, however the latter 2 do not enjoy a Discharge paralysis.

Zapdos is a great defensive presence that can perform a utility role if needed due to a variety of traits; its Zapdos’s typing, bulk, and access to reliable recovery all make Zapdos it a solid defensive presence, being able to check Pokemon like Corviknight, Mega Lopunny, Kartana, and Mega Gyarados on a consistent basis. Discharge is great due to its good paralysis chance, allowing it to cripple Pokemon like Kyurem and Tyranitar. Heat Wave allows Zapdos to threaten Rillaboom, Kartana, Mega Scizor, (AC) and especially Ferrothorn super effectively. Hidden Power Ice is useful as it can consistently threaten Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Gliscor, who which would otherwise stuff out Zapdos; however, Defog can be used over it to allow Zapdos to remove entry hazards against Pokemon like Ferrothorn, unfortunately, it Ferrothorn. Unfortunately, Zapdos has a very poor matchup against many other hazards setters in the tier, most notably Mega Tyranitar (RC) and the aforementioned Landorus-T and Garchomp, making it somewhat unreliable as a hazard remover. Static is preferred over Pressure due to its chance of paralysis after being hit with a contact move, thus being able to potentially cripple offensive threats like Mega Lopunny, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Mawile. The EV spread shown allows Zapdos to outspeed Modest Heatran, while also taking as many physical hits as it possibly can.

Zapdos fits on a large amount of many team archetypes as a solid defensive presence. Zapdos It has a pretty bad matchup against the best hazard setters in the metagame such as Garchomp and Landorus-T, and because of this, so checks to them such as Ice Beam Slowbro and Mega Latias, bulky Kartana, and Tapu Fini work as very valuable partners for Zapdos. are very valuable partners. Zapdos especially has a poor matchup versus Heatran, as it can take advantage of and easily force out Zapdos using Magma Storm and Toxic, giving it an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Because of this, checks to Heatran such as Gliscor, Garchomp, (AC) and Gastrodon are necessary teammates for Zapdos. Wallbreakers that heavily appreciate Zapdos's paralysis support such as Mega Mawile and Mega Medicham are good partners for it as well.
