To Pimp a Butterfree (0) vs (0) Morpeek-A-Boos
SS ZU: clean vs Quinn - clean won last week handily (shame our prep was off) and brought some pretty neat sets, namely Twave Miltank and Clefairy (no that mon isn't bad). clean sits at 3-1 and has been consistent so far in terms of he brings solid teams and doesn't really misplay. With that, clean adds another year where he's among the top SS ZU players. So, it's difficult to predict against him even if I acknowledge Quinn played smoothly last week and has solid SS support. Quinn's game last week could've gone either way because there was hax on both sides. Morpeek-A-Boos made a good call imo with eterrain into Zause. The previous three weeks they brought bulky offense so this was a nice switch-up. Meanwhile, clean brought offense week one then shifted to bulkier offense teams since then. Honestly I think it'll be an uphill game for Quinn if the matchup is even because clean is more proven and experienced here. It'll be interesting to see the direction both players take in the builder.
SM ZU: sasha vs Finchinator - This is an intriguing matchup to me if only from a styles perspective. Finch has brought bulky offense each week and has been pretty successful so far with a 3-1 record. sasha brought setup spam HO and then screens HO last week, so the Butterfrees decided to run straight offense after an unsuccessful first two weeks with fatter offense teams. I'm curious to see if sasha branches out to different types of HO and if Finch/his support continues to use bulky offense/balance builds. I think sasha's style matches up decently into the types of teams Finch has been using, so this has a chance to end up one-sided as some SM games do (just the nature of matchups in this tier if you aren't careful). Still, I trust btboy to build something that matches up well into sasha and for Finch to pilot it.
ORAS ZU: TWiTT vs Toto - Super fun matchup between two players that know each other's builds and tendencies. Toto has a good shot here imo in terms of playing skill. He can also build good teams, though I just don't know if Toto will build something new. It'd be hilarious if Toto brings a twitt team here. I favor twitt here mainly because I think he's more creative in the builder and has tricks up his sleeve. Last week twitt beat me one-sidedly and Toto recycled and lost to Sleid in a game that was also one-sided imo. To me this game hinges on if either player builds something new since they should know each other pretty well.


Cramlington Cramorants (0) vs (0) Shiiny Shiinotics
SS ZU: One Last Kiss vs OranBerryBlissey10 - OBB is heavily favored here because the gap in experience is too great. One Last Kiss played well last week and easily could've won had Fire Blast not missed vs Ivysaur. OBB also played well to come back last week after losing Liepard t1 (and did get some luck to help). As for teams, I assume Diego held back and went for a sample team type approach since the team was standard and basic. This makes sense considering I'd never seen OLK play SS ZU before last week. It worked too because the game was winnable and the team covered the meta well. OBB went back to Rose Pawn and has been using creative teams thus far. I think that OBB will have more freedom in the builder which he can use to his advantage against someone not nearly as experienced in the tier. That being said, Diego does know OBB well and is very capable of crafting a good matchup for One Last Kiss. While I expect OBB to win in an even matchup and to even pull a good matchup, I wouldn't be surprised if Diego nails a cteam here.
SM ZU: Tenebricite vs MZ - Tenebricite has been pretty fun to watch and it's really cool to see someone new come into SM and dominate. Tenebricite's teams have been consistent and polished and his game planning and play has been great. A lot of the same can be said about MZ. Aside from the success of these players and the consistently good teams they bring, what makes this a highlight matchup to me in that I think they have similar styles. As in, their team structures are somewhat similar and both haven't brought teams that are overly offensive or fat. Full disclosure I'm on the Tenebricite wave after he beat Greybaum the way he did. I know MZ could've beat Greybaum if not for some luck, but I feel Tenebricite is on a roll with his teams and his play has sticks out to me more. Will definitely be an exciting one.
ORAS ZU: 5Dots vs tier - Both brought cool teams last week and won. tier did have a big upset by beating AFO, someone who I rank above 5dots. That being said, tier did pull a nice matchup into fruits with that hazard stack Roar spam team. Similarly, 5dots had the matchup advantage vs Baitwiz last week and cruised to a win. I feel that 5dots is more in tune with the meta and can read into team compositions better. In terms of play, I rate 5dots higher based on this ZUPL.


CASTLE (0) vs (0) Dwayne Gang
SS ZU: TomatoZause vs Pokeslice - Watching Dwayne Gang play SS brightens my day. After two Ls in the first two weeks, they're 2-2 now and trending up. Zause also recycled his week one team and managed to beat sun. Therefore, Zause will win. Seriously though, I think the gap in experience and how consistent Zause has been is too big of a difference here. If Danny poured as much effort into SS as he used to, I'd think this matchup would be a lot closer. I just don't know how much effort Danny is putting into SS considering other tours and they brought sun twice in a row (granted sun is a top playstyle so that's fair).
SM ZU: tom holland vs Greybaum - CASTLE put BA on the bench in the dungeon this week after his third straight loss. tom holland has a bit of experience in SM ZU and iirc is experienced in SM as a gen, so tom should be able to keep things competitive here. But, tom is up against the cream of the crop. Greybaum's only loss came last week in a close game that came down to Dark Pulse not flinching on the last turn. To me, Greybaum is looking as good as he's ever been and his teams continue to be polished each week. For tom to have a decent shot, I think he'll have to work that SM magic aka bring the right threat because Greybaum should be able to outplay an even matchup.
ORAS ZU: sleid vs spell - sleid had an impressive win vs Toto last week where his prep was spot on and he played a smooth game. There was never really any doubt that sleid would lose that game, which is quite notable after a rough start to the season and because Toto is a seasoned ORAS player. Meanwhile, Dwayne Gang is 1-3 in ORAS and BaitWiz subbed in last week. Maybe they go back to what got them their only win and run some type of HO into sleid. sleid has stuck to his style of teams the past three weeks now so he should be in a good groove as a builder. There's no guarantee that switching things up will help sleid, so it's a balance between sticking to the same style and risk a ct or anticipating a ct and switching things up. I just think sleid has the better support and is more proven, so I think this is 65-35 in his favor.

SV ZU: avarice vs yo cho - avarice has looked pretty rough this tour until last week and for last week’s win he ended up in a pretty advantageous mu
SV ZU: Beraldo vs asa - also wasn’t really convinced by beraldo’s win last week, while it was a lot closer of a game it did ultimately come down to potential roll shenanigans if scorching sands hadn’t burned. can absolutely still be close though
SS ZU: clean vs Quinn - gotta bold clean in ss
SM ZU: sasha vs Finchinator - finch + btboy support has been performing successfully thus far
ORAS ZU: TWiTT vs Toto - feeling an upset here, not sure why
BW ZU: LpZ vs Tack - giving LpZ the edge since he’s been having a better tour, but it really could go either way
DPP ZU: Drud vs Hubriz - as long as drud doesn’t fall prey to his hubriz he should win

SM ZU: Tenebricite vs MZ - They’ve both been doing great, but I think Tene’s perfect run ends here
ORAS ZU: 5Dots vs tier - obb support vs 5dots prep and luck, I think 5dots is slightly favored but it can go either way
BW ZU: dawn to the dusk vs Thor - no clue tbh
DPP ZU: Lazuli vs Shing - Shing has looked hot, Lazuli has looked not

SS ZU: Mada vs Fogbound Lake - neither have been looking pretty, but fogbound’s been in SS more
SM ZU: 5gen vs SOMALIA - this might end up closer than people expect, but I think 5gen is probably the favorite still
ORAS ZU: fish anemometer vs a fruitshop owner - I haven’t seen fish in ORAS ever, but even if he has played it afo still has more experience
BW ZU: yovan33321 vs SEA - pretty close match, I still can’t predict against SEA though
DPP ZU: Heysup vs plznostep - heysup is still mr dpp
