That was my design you motherfucker.
Um so I guess everyone seems to like the pharaoh cat the best out of mine, so I guess I'll go ahead and use that even though I liked my other ones better. Idk if I'll get a final submission up though, depends how long this is open. But yeah thanks for every comment I've gotten :) (:

Yeah I just realised you can't hear my voice when I say things on a forum so maybe it seemed like I was being a dick to fossil but yeah I was just joking so chill out. sorry

OK, I didn't like the little "loincloth" type thing, so I just kinda covered it quickly with the paintbrush and called it sand. >_> And tbqh, my talent lies more with spriting, and it definitely shows here. I did include the limited palette I used here (as it would be pointless to have a beautifully done drawing and have it look like garbage when spriting it up), so again, if anyone wants to make this look better, go right ahead. As for me, this is my...

FINAL SUBMISSION FOR CAP9

Anubiset, the Jackalwere Pokémon

A sandy simulacrum of the ancient deity of the afterlife, this Pokemon sees itself as the guardian of those around it. It has strong ties to ghost-type pokemon as well, perhaps due to the duty that it was given in times of old to escort them to the proper afterlife. In any case, due to it's form being made of simple sand, it can harden and dissolve with but a moment's notice. This strange quirk also allows for near instantaneous transportation, as it can disappear beneath the sands and reappear miles away in the blink of an eye.

So i'm thinking this is getting pretty close to final submission, might add in some addition material, but the design has seen it's fair share of changes.
I liked how texturized the original one was, which makes it far superior to this. I do however like the additions of the ribs and the tail. Once again though, the original color scheme/texturing was much better. Does this mean keep the original with the exact same colors? No! It needs color, but it needs to keep the original style.

So far there are many, many great submissions. But my shout-out goes to dougjustdoug's buffalo. While normally I don't really enjoy his designs, this one really captures the essence of what CAP9 is going for. Plus I really enjoy the colours on it. If any of you guys missed it, go back a few pages and admire his great work.

Others I really do enjoy are Cyzir's Narwhal (although I'll have to agree with the popular opinion that it looked better with half its body underground, it is nice to know how it looks like as a whole) and pkmn-taicho's original sandy design/colours. I'm not sure why he changed it, to be honest.

And although this might be a few pages late, TheMutant, I actually adore the scar-palette. It gets the two obvious colours for ground and dark types, but combines them in a way that is far from forced, but actually very natural.

Following the advice, I change the color scheme:

I have another capmon in mind... if I have time to do it.

Final Submission~~

Here is the RPS at its finest.

Credits go to The Mantyke for the awesome digital rendering. Your generosity shall not be forgotten!

It doing what it does best: Rolling into a ball to use its signiture move (Prob. Rollout or Rapid Spin).

Pokedex Entry:
It has a dark, sluglike texture to its main body, allowing dirt and mud to stick to its back, creating a shell. The eye and fang patterns were formed as a self defense mechanism, aka, the intimidation of foes. Its body is flexible enough to allow it to roll up into a ball and wheel itself around. While rolled up, it can perfectly control its body, and can thus do stunts like useing its tail as a springboard, and then unraveling itself in midair.

~~End Final Submission.

Not sure how much time we got left, so consider this my final design:

Now with 40% more Badass!

I'll whip up some concept art tomorrow and finish this entry for good.

NOW THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!

Not sure whether it's dark enough. Also, I wanted to draw him naked but was afraid that it was un-Pokemon-like.

That's Ash and Pikachu on his shoulder, and by ratio calculations, his height is about 85 feet.
so he can burrow into the ground MORE!

GREAT CAP btw, although my only real competitor is bear's one!

CONCEPT:

Trident from the sea! (recall the cyzir's narwhal water to ground evolution, only less awesome!)
BIG SIZED! (DARK TYPE)
SNAKE TAIL! (To burrow into the ground!)
SPIKES! (*insert lame reason here*)

Could anybody suggest any colour schemes??? Thanks a million. POKEMON CUTENESS FOREVER!!!

:D

:D ..I just cant help myself..

HEre is another concept for a possible Cap 9..Dark/Ground..

As the raccoon tends to be a ground dwelling animal AND its nocturnal..so..:3

I did my best to make it look like a final evolution/single evolution.

It uses its tail like a drill, thus the corkscrew shape of it, to dig through hard rock and soft sands. The face mask resembles something..demonic, in so far as the two bits that extend down are like a pair of fangs (Like a bat, even!)

Crits? On this, and the Tasmanian Devil? Thanks dudes.

Newest Version on the Driller Imp, probably my last one. I think it fits typing, possible stat spreads, ability, and possible attacks well. Looks like its Dark-Ground, high attack, defense, HP, speed is a tiny issue, but whatever, does Electrode look fast? It could fit Guts, or the now popular Auto-Magic Coat, with its dome hat reflecting stuff. Also Poison Heal. And looks like a Rapid Spinner, I could see it crunching and using Pursuit.

Any comments??

Both are amazing concepts keishinkae!
The raccoon is really adorable but the devil is far better in my opinion.
Start coloring that tasmanian devil now!

I love the design, but I have two suggestions:
1) Change the shade of Purple on it's body, because the light purple reminds me of a Poison type.
2) Add a glowing effect to the Amulet and it's eyes or pupils, to imply that the Amulet that this guy stole has an evil spirit inside the jewl, possessing the poor creature.
But other then that, I can't say a bad thing about this design! It's simply fantastic!

I like it, add some color to make it look better

@ Caladbolg~,

Out of the two you just posted, I definitely favour the Armadillo. The Dingo is an interesting idea for CAP9, but I feel as though the design is not original enough to win over enough votes. There are a few Dark typed canines already, and the Dingo's most defining feature (hand-tail thing) features on existing Pokemon (Skitty, Aipom). Perhaps it's unfair to compare your Dingo to existing Pokemon, but I really think that the similarities would hurt your votes.

The Armadillo fits the "stopping the secondary" aspect so well that it would be a shame for you to abandon it. Rapid Spin and Taunt are both completely natural choices for your design. I disagree with others when they say you should change the colour scheme, because the Dark typing is clearly represented in the nature of the Pokemon itself. However, I guess my opinion is largely outweighed by others who think the typing should be expressed in colour as well as personality, so I guess a colour change is a safer choice. Just make the colours darker, I suppose.

If you are willing to change your design at all, I have a few thoughts. The spiked ball on the end of its tail does not fit- the Armadillo typically curls up quite often, but I see this tail getting in the way and becoming a nuisance. If you do a back view in your concept art, maybe some kind of pattern can be used to break up the mono-coloured plates and make them more interesting.

Hope my comments are useful to you. :toast:

@Calad: you had a dingo? Lol
your armadillo is much better. The only thing I dispise is the alternative facial expression. It kinda takes the whole armadillo-like feel away and replaces it with a highly aggressive synister like feel. That might not have been your original intent...

@ Fraog the coal mole looks to human, definitely take off the glasses, and mold the body to the jacket somehow, Most pokemon dont have coats...

@Caladblog, I like the Armadillo better, but not by that much...
Also, I saw some of the sketch lines, and there was one near the eye.
It makes it look like a real eye, instead of slits.
Can you post a picture with whole eyes, just to see if the effect works.
You can post it as supporting art later if you dont like it, as shadow armadillo
