Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Hey now, everybody is starting from a different place. If you got that many in a row and did it without going poop or pee in your pants, that could be as good as someone who knows how to read getting 1000!
Yeah Infiltrator Chandelure is an annoying lead for teams like that where even when it's out of Heat Wave, you either have to sacrifice something or are more or less trading all of Chansey's PP (in this gen I wouldn't consider it that big of a deal because I'm pretty sure Chandelure is the only...
Sorry I have never advocated for (or even used) Growl on Chansey. Substitute is definitely better. I used an EV spread that I knew was suboptimal just to show that I could get a higher streak with Chansey solely off the strength of a better moveset. As Coeur7 mentioned you can switch stuff...
This is not good. The point of Leftovers is that A) basically anything that avoids a OHKO from +6 Icicle Spear besides QC Dewgong is easily stalled out by Gliscor and B) if something cheeses you with an evasion item, you can get more 100% guaranteed wins by stalling out an additional 10 PP worth...
The boring answers would be that Sub/Protect/Double Team/Bulldoze is a much, much better set on Gliscor and replacing Suicune with Durant would allow you to get a longer streak with some Acupressure version of Medicham. Even then, Mega Medicham is a tough one because if you're gonna boost with...
That's a cool look at Jolly Kanga! I remember a key benchmark with Adamant is that you can Power-up Punch and then Sucker Punch to 100% KO Aerodactyl, but even if you were to fall short there, a faster Gliscor with Bulldoze is likely to stall out the rest of the Stone Edges and be less likely to...
One interesting thing to try on these kind of teams would be Cottonee over Whimsicott. I'm not sure which things Grass Knot is most often targeting, but max Sp. Atk Cottonee hits 97, which is probably at least comparable to what your Whimsicott has with no EV investment and likely not a perfect...
Aw crap, I just wrapped up a "You like battles, too!" run with Durant/Cloyster/Gliscor but accidentally closed the tab where I was doing a writeup for the team. I'll keep it on the briefer side for now and maybe go back and edit later. Here's a video where I actually got some footage of the...
Oopsies, with Substitute instead of Toxic you could just switch Chansey directly in on Wailord and not have to worry as much about OHKO moves. I guess with your method the streak certainly did end faster lol.
Also I thought I was straightforward enough with it in the streak I did back in gen 6...
My point exactly: Gliscor is functionally immune to status and and makes critical hits irrelevant against anything slower than it (or faster than it that doesn't do 75% to it on the 1st hit), so already it does a lot for consistency.
The tempo argument never means much to me (after all, I can...
I would say an AI-like ethos is always good when constructing teams for a long streak. To an AI, winning games quickly, decisively (1-0 is the same as 3-0 or 4-0), or with some verisimilitude to how Ash Ketchum might've won battles in the Pokemon anime (just imagine him repeatedly yelling...
Just seeing this now but I think this is the same person who had some questions on YouTube.
I think the older games (maybe even Moon rather than Sun but I haven't looked in a while at which trainers are the version exclusives) are better for my team but more because there's a boss trainer in...
I'm sure when you're at the pearly gates, the AI trainers will thank you for using a Pokemon that lost to them way more frequently and also took more turns to KO them once you were finally able to hit them with Toxic.
The AI cannot deal with any Blissey. The AI is even less able to deal with a Blissey with Substitute/Seismic Toss/Double Team/Softboiled (and more Speed EVs so it can put up a Substitute before various things would try to hit it with status moves). When all its moves are PP Maxed the only things...
Sadly my streak came to an end at 1148 wins. Not because of any misplay or weakness to the team, my game just froze there following a +6 evasion Gliscor KOing a lead Pokemon from behind a Subsitute. It was fun running through this gen though and checking out the calcified opinions in the thread...
