Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
I think we need to set a definition up because we always use calcs based off of SR but yet when it comes to a poke needing SR support we always use the excuse everyone runs Lati@s. I know it's convenient to cherry pick what works best for our argument but I just see this happening constantly.
The arguments have been made, this is a centralizing poke (almost feels like RBY Ubers in that your team is Salamence and then pokes that handle Salamence) that has no place in OU.
Quickban this so we can stop wasting time and start getting an actual ranking thread discussion going.
There is absolutely zero reason to use Salamence, it is outclassed in every way possible by other options. If you aren't opposed to swapping him out then I would do so with haste or else you are crippling your team.
Mew isn't exactly a terror of teams either, it feels like weak reasoning to add HCross when there are already answers to Mew especially with the increase in usage of dark moves/types.
Having a usable niche job that a very specific team requires I generally don't have a problem with, it's all these shit-tier mons in the lower ranks that don't do anything different from higher tier mons aka Salamence syndrome whose only existence on the list is because it's someones favorite...
I always felt like the lower ranks meant things like Whimsicott, you know niche pokemon that have a justified use when building a specific team however if you just add them without thought or reason you are going to severely cripple your team, what the fuck is Salamance or Heracross doing...
This would just be called OU Goodstuffs, what it lacks in creativity it makes up for in raw power since its basic idea is "Let's take as many S/A+ rank mons as we can and put em in a team."
It's unimaginative but effective.
I play balanced teams almost exclusively so I pick the mega I want to use first then look at what Steel/Fairy/Dragon combinations work with it, after that I generally look at how my coverage and weaknesses are and add in one mon that provides a wide range of coverage or defensive support. Lastly...
Agree on everything but the Paraflinch part, that's not actually a reason to not use it and telling people that they shouldn't use something because "cheap hax" is anti-competitive scrub mentality.
Suicune B+ -> A-
I support a Suicune promotion as he is a bulky water type with huge sweep potential, the only thing I see holding this back from going any higher is a shallow movepool (But CroCune has been rock solid since forever) and a meta that is increasingly becoming hostile to water...
A few points to make.
-How a pokemon fairs in other metas is irrelevant to this discussion. Keeping a toxic pokemon around just because it would never get played otherwise is not how you build a competitive playing field.
- Swords Dance is not the issue here, some sets don't even run Swords...
