Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
You're playing a format where you have 2 Pokemon on the field at a time (until the late stages of a match) and you only have one Pokemon that can comfortably take a strong Water attack so it's not surprising why Rotom-W isn't "countering" rain.
Imprison Smeargle isn't exactly a great way to...
Just to confirm, is the gift Tyrogue in HGSS method K with a starting frame of 1? And I think you have to battle the Karate King before he hands over the Tyrogue - will that affect the frame count?
Depends on typing and stats. Helping Hand is more useful on things with lower (Sp)Atk than those that would rather attack themselves but sometimes boosting a partner's attack with better coverage is a better bet. Things that tend to drop their offensive stats like Latios can also use Helping...
Thanks, got it; that Cute Charm thing makes sense. It's just weird that I didn't encounter the even/odd issue before when RNGing my other Pearl stuff- maybe I lucked out in choosing the right seeds.
However, I have since picked a different spread that doesn't require a Cute Charm lead and...
Is it normal to have your delay switch back and forth between even/odd? I've never had that happen to me before but it's really annoying. Trying for an odd delay and I get an even delay. So I put in a GBA game in the GBA slot, get one odd delay and then an even delay shortly afterwards.
I'm...
For RNG Reporter's (v9.95) 4th gen seed finder: does the high level Pokemon have to be a wild Pokemon generated by Method 1? Or can I catch a stationary legend generated by Method J to check my seed?
I'm calibrating so I don't want to use coin flips when I might be hundreds off my target delay...
Prankster Encore is the reason people use Liepard. Protect is a common way to foil Fake Out and Prankster Encore can lock opponents into that move (or any other setup move such as Substitute) if they don't switch.
Luck has no longer been my ally. I peaked around 1750 and a string of bad games and bad luck have me tumbling into the 1600s. It's practically win 4, 5 in a row and pick up 30 pts only to lose most of that back in one loss. Ugh.
Surprisingly, I've avoided ragequitters so far. One connection error pre-battle in ~30 attempts. Hax has been rampant but the dice rolls have been favoring me more than not. :)
Hope I can reach 1800+ before my luck turns.
According to this damage calculator, my current spread survives a max damage, non-crit SB from that Chandelure with 1 HP (that must be where I got the spread from lol). 76 SpDef EVs would give me another 2 HP leeway but I'm not sure 2 HP worth of chip damage happens often enough to matter...
Well, I just lost my doubles streak at battle 200 because I stupidly underestimated Blastoise's bulk. The hunt for a Starf berry begins anew... :(
Trick Room team again - modified a bit from my last attempt:
I figured that I was probably overcompensating for first turn freezes on my Trick...
Well then, don't I feel foolish!
I'm considering building around a Kyogre/Ferrothorn/Giratina(O) core since that worked in the last ubers wifi tournament (even if resistances probably matter more for rotations compared to singles) but I haven't had the time to really think about a team yet.
