Pokémon XY General Discussion

Well, I'm not the only one here that does this.
I thought people here liked it.
Sorry that you didn't.

I thought it was convenient that some people here use Jp names because White 2 is my first English game. All my previous games were in Japanese.
Well at least I spelled it out in the English alphabet rather than typing actual Japanese characters.

Whilst I'm not wanting to go in a debate about "but Japanese is the original" kind of thing, White 2 is my first game in English.
I don't know why the others use Japanese names though, but I guess it's probably because they think that the Japanese is the original and they wanted to pay respect or something.

...to pay respect? Should we all speak Latin to pay respect? That just doesn't make any sense to me.

Look, I'm not one of those "This is AMERICA! We should only speak AMERICAN!" guys, but as you can see, this is a forum where we speak English. Everyone here speaks English to some extent. So we should speak English as much as we can. This includes English names for Pokémon. Respect has nothing to do with it. To mix languages is frankly ridiculous.

Oh my god do not start a language argument
This will only end in flaming, warnings and bannings do not do this

At least, I'd like some kind of in-game battle tower where your pokemon actually gain exp and the enemies go all the way up to lv 100. Good for casual leveling, grinding, and potentially a good hard challenge in order to access some of the better competitive resources available.
I think you just described Black Skyscraper/White Tree Hollow from B2W2 (respectively) except the reaching level 100 part.
Is it weird that by the end of the post-game of B2 I got my team of 6 pkmn to lv100 each?

Anyways, I'm completely with R_N on this one, I get enough content (if not more) from one playthrough, usually reaching 100-170 hours of gameplay.

Let's... go back to X and Y...

Is no one REALLY going to address Malamar using Hypnosis on Pangoro?

(As a side note, I like how BloodGod22 disappeared after Fairy was confirmed)

Anyways, maybe you take a class trip to Lumiose City and you happen to meet Mr. Sycamore there (who takes an interest in you). Perhaps... he sends to your school a pack of Pokémon for your class in specific and you decide that you like traveling... or I'm just really off the mark. But the "school trip" scenario seems like a possibility.
Really hoping for Zakuro to be our first Dark gym honestly... but he plays sports... one can hope.

To the ones complaining about Pangoro's design... I don't really know what else you guys were expecting. "Not" a bigger panda? *shrug*

I wasn't even the one to start an argument. I wasn't even arguing-- pure explanation and defense. He attacked me, I defend myself.

I've seen other people using Japanese names here before and no one was rude to them.

But I'll start looking up for the English names from now on.
I wasn't even someone who type Japanese names out of "respect", I was only telling him that these people exist.

Dear lord, someone else here spoke completely in French before and I only politely requested them to switch into English. One of them was nice enough to give me a summary of what all those French posts were about.

I guess they did cater to the Post-Story players when they added the Battle Frontier in gen 3 and 4, but the problem with that was your Pokemon didn't ultimately grow as a result of the experience, making it seem like you didn't achieve anything. Same goes for the Pokemon World Tournament and the Battle Subway.
So here's some things I think they could do in order to make Post-Game a little better.
ETC...
I have to disagree with you on the minigame thing. (I didn't copy past the whole post or it would be long.) I don't believe that minigames should be added superfluously, or they are simply redirecting development power. Mini Games can be a very strong part of a game though. Some games use mini/micro games to let you change the pace of the adventure in a non-forced, meaningful way. An example of this already in the Pokemon series would be poffin mixing from D/P/Pt. Sure, it wasn't the most exciting mini game it could have been, but my point is that when minigames are included they should be woven into the game, not slapped on to the edge. Think of your favorite mini game in a pokemon game. Now imagine that it had actually been connected to something in game, like the casino, food production, contests, etc.

If we really want pokemon to "last forever" though, it could take a page from Animal Crossing's book and slow the pacing to a crawl after you beat the game. Animal Crossing is very good at getting you to come back every day or two with the promise of a few small, but new things to have. There are also ridiculously huge, time consuming tasks like paying off house additions that will by no means be difficult but will certainly mean a much longer playthrough. Pokemon has adopted a few of Animal Crossing's tricks like daily events.
EDIT: Oh, and real time seasonal Fish/Bugs. Imagine if Clefairy only came out on full moons. It's a cool concept, and you have to wait for it.

It doesn't matter if you didn't start it, once it's started it will lead on

if it is taken any further infractions"warnings" will be issued to everyone involved

Is no one REALLY going to address Malamar using Hypnosis on Pangoro?
Why would it be addressed
There's nothing odd about it

He will probably be Rock or maybe Ground. His hair is fashioned off a cliff, his art depicts him rock climbing, his hair has gems(?) in it, he's in a rocky gym and his badge also looks like a cliff

His English name is Gran(i)t(e): Rock or Ground are most likely. His name also apparently comes from "pomegranate" but that isn't a good indication of type. Clemont's name is also based on a fruit, in this case "lemon".

Yesss Someone who agrees with me. Everyone is going "Oh hes a dark trainer cause his name means dark in Japanese" or something to that effect. But the artwork is just too biased towards being a rock or ground trainer. Either way, itll be great to have a rock Gym which isn't Gym 1! That would be a nice change of pace, even though all the starters would be able to cakewalk a rock gym...

I don't really like the art designs of the other characters yet, but maybe they will grow on me. The gym leaders are cool, but like your friends are kinda creepy...

Dose anyone think Chspins evo's are gonna grass/rock besides me?
It might because it gives Chespin the upper hand against Fennkin who is fire and probably psychic because it learns psychic and I'm guessing that Froakie would evolve into water/fighting sort of a triple fight fest kind of like 4th gen starters tried to have that but Empoleon got stuffed by Infernape and Trottera. Then Trottera got stuffed by Infernape.

I agree lol. Especially the professor... GF does really weird things with the hairstyle of each character. I think I would be fine with most of the characters if it weren't for their hair. Shauna has got something strange going on with her bangs. I don't even know how to describe Tierno's hair. It's looks like Torchic's three feathers, except black and shorter. Trevor's hair looks like an orange bush. The only supporting character I like is Alexa, she looks normal.

Edit: If we had hide tags I would post the art for these characters but we don't :/

Heartgold and Soulsilver had tons of post-gaming. I think those were the games which had hundreds of hours of content. You could rebattle gym leaders, Red and capture most of the legies found in previous games and can get 2 version mascots. Also the poke walker the pedometer which was actually made walking fun and capturing easy as eating. So if X/Y has content even half of HG and SS its going to be a perfect kickstart for ten six (I say kickstart because I'm very sure that there is going to be Ruby and Sapphire remakes and lots of spin-offs)

All I'm really asking for is for some way of increasing the number of pokémon you can catch in the region, even if it's done by special events. Maybe you could even make some pokes exclusive to certain seasons, that would add a ton of replayability to the game and would let them introduce some of the older pokémon to the younger audiences.

If we can get more things to do after beating the game once it will lead to lot of increased hours of game play.
If GF makes X&Y like heartgold and soulsilver then I hope we will be able to travel to another region post game and maybe receive starters from that region.
As for the mini games I don't know if more should be introduced because I barely play them during the playthroughs.
I don't think it will turn out like that.Firstly because the theme of the kalos region is "Beauty" so they might be trying balance the typings of the starters. The rock gym(un-confirmed) might have been added so that the players who pick fennekin will have more of a challenge because they had a slight advantage in Viola's gym(having a stab counter against bug types). This would also make sense as both chespine and froakie will get an advantage at the rock gym, not having to catch any new pokemon for the gym.

That would be a great idea to add since while playing through the game in one season you might not be able to catch some pokemon. After you beat the game or after some time when the season changes people will go back to catch that pokemon and it will lead to extended game play time.

GF always does that.Look at Hugh's qwillfish hairstyle.

Ahh, the juicy part of your commentary!
It'd be cool, but I wonder how long the beginning story script would take for that? There's a monster Trainer game that was downloadable from the DSi-Shop that had a similar scenario, where the main character is at school, his friend is getting bullied, there's some talk about the monsters that inhabit the world, and by the time you actually get into a battle, you've been learning about everything but how to survive with the core gameplay element for the first 10-12 minutes of your playthrough. If Prof. Sycamore pulled a Juniper and delivered your Pokémon for you to pass out between your friends, that makes for a nicer transition into battling, which is what most kids would rather do than get a good long story of what their life is like in the world of Pokémon.

And please, Game Freak, don't make Zakuro a weird Bakutech or Reborn ripoff, just because his Japanese name is Zakuro (the Bakutech character Zakuro uses Dark types and I guess the Zakuro from Reborn is the one that everyone actually knows about, who shoots himself to become a demon?). A small group of Japanese writers have a weird obsession with calling their shady characters "Pomegranate", prolly because it sounds really cool in Japanese (ZAKUROOOO~). His English name is Grant, which sounds like Granite, and his first character image shows him in a climbing stance wearing rock climbing gear. It'd be a stretch if they made a guy with an implied apparent connection to rocks a Dark type leader, or anything besides Ground mayhaps.

All I'm really asking for is for some way of increasing the number of pokémon you can catch in the region, even if it's done by special events. Yeah, but they could use old Pokémon year-round as well. The image I'm getting from your post is "in the springtime, there's only Kalos Pokémon available. in the Summer, there's only Kanto Pokémon". It looks like they already plan to reintroduce a good number of old Pokémon as it is, and while it may be seen as a shame if we don't get to learn about every Kanto Pokémon without trading around and migrating, it's not like they HAVE to cram all of them in there.

On the topic of rebattling people i would like to have some spots with also low-leveled trainers (kinda like white tree-hollow/black city from b/w 2) but with lower and higher levels. Just so you can train your lowleveled justcaugth mons, as well as some trainers with level 100 mons in-game.
It makes no sence for people living in-game for years and having a maximum of level 80 mons while you just played 2 months and have one of level 100, this is i think a challange, good for training and more sence making for veterans in-game that have higher then a level 60 Pidgeotto.

Somewhat off topic, but now that I think about it, does anyone else think that Orotto could just maybe be another Legendary? Take a look at this picture:

If one looks carefully, there's a giant tree behind Xerneas (this was taken from the very first trailer). The whole picture is cut off, but if Gen 6 is based in the battle of life vs. death, I can see this tree being a Legendary based on Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life in Norse mythology and Xerneas could be its protector. The story could go something like this: Team Flare would capture Yveltal to destroy the Tree of Life in order to bring out and capture Xerneas. They would then proceed to sell both Legendary Pokemon to make big money, but the balance of nature is upset as a result of Team Flare's actions and greed. The player is then tasked to restore the Tree (Orotto?) in order to save Kalos.

Just my two cents. :)

Actually, I LOVED the Battle Frontier as well as the PWT so I hope X and Y have BOTH!!!
That will be truly amazing.

But the best would be...
HOENN AFTER KALOS!!!
Just like HgSS and GSC where Kanto is post-Johto, why not Hoenn after Kalos?
Hoenn was my FAVORITE region, this would be SOO cool!

The trailer featured a horde of wild Orotto, though, didn't it? Pretty sure that flushes that theory down the toilet.

I completed Red/Blue in the 60s (overlevelled Charizard), RSE in the lvl 40s, DP in the 50s and BW in the 50s. I don't believe we are given a decent outlet to train in any game besides the elite 4, lucky egg and experience share. I don't need a longer story but a meatier post game and a place to battle top level trainers and gain experience would be great. There should be a challenge mode like BW2 but much higher levels and maybe even you are given a lvl 10 starter to compensate. Gamefreaks main target is children yes but they know there is a hardcore following who appreciates difficulty and challenge. People have to do stuff like nuzlockes to do this when gamefreak can easily do this

Aquí está el linko. http://www.pokexperto.net/index2.php?subaction=showfull&id=1374068800&archive=&start_from=&ucat=2&

For those who don't speak Spanish like me, just hit the translate button on Google Chrome (of course). The link looks interesting, and it's especially interesting that it has Inkay, Malimar, Swirlix, and Spritzee, but these may be in there in order to throw off a possible stink that this rumor is fake. Was the last set of rumors from Pokexperto? Or was it from Pokebeach directly?

I might be remembering wrong, but as far as I'm aware, Pokebeach stated that this time around, Pokexperto knew nothing. And Pokebeach has been right about literally everything else thus far, so...
