Mention Trick and Switcheroo in C&C, they fuck up Porygon2 due to getting rid of its source of bulk, making it a million times easier to take down.

physically defensive set should have 16 sp def EVs. this guarantees that life orb greninja cannot 2HKO P2 after SR with hydro miss.

I wouldn't bother slashing Analytic on the defensive sets. You can mention it in set comments, because it does have merit, but Trace is so damn useful. Intimidate, Flash Fire, Poison Heal, Protean, there are lots of cool abilities that Porygon2 can take advantage of with Trace, and the boost from Analytic usually isn't worth it.

If you're not doing a 252/252 spread, then you should explain why. If there's no specific reason, then just run 252/252.

Anyway, I disagree with the physically defensive set being listed first. While physically defensive Porygon2 is effective and fares pretty well against many Dragons and Gyarados thanks to Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, a Normal typing is not suited for physical tanking. It can be effective no doubt, but Porygon2 can really shine as a special wall. The Specially Defensive set can handle nearly every special attacker in the tier. Fully specially defensive Porygon2 achieves a remarkable level of bulk, and distinguishes itself from Chansey with better physical bulk, Trace, and actual attacks.

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2 in Sun: 157-186 (41.9 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2: 99-118 (26.4 - 31.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Latios Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2: 159-187 (42.5 - 50%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO (no chance with the Special Attack drop)
252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2: 166-198 (44.3 - 52.9%) -- 23.4% chance to 2HKO

The ability to take Life Orb Focus Blasts to the face from powerful special attackers is quite impressive. Unfortunately, it can't switch into Landorus without being 2HKO'd, but it can easily take one for about 60% and KO with Ice Beam. The specially defensive spread also doesn't give up too much physical bulk.

252 SpA Choice Specs Latios Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Porygon2: 144-169 (38.5 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 Atk Aegislash-Blade Sacred Sword vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Porygon2: 136-160 (36.3 - 42.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Mention Mandibuzz as a great partner to the specially defensive spread, it takes many physical hits and provides Defog support.

Is the Knock Off buff big enough to mention in the overview? It isn't mentioned in Chansey's analysis but neither have qc checks?

Also small nitpick. In the P-def set, to, first line you have a 'all' with only one 'l'

Yeah, I agree with this. Knock Off can really screw you over.

Knock Off is a problem, and some of the Pokemon that Porygon2 switches into do carry Knock Off from time to time, but it's not an overwhelming problem if you just play smart. It's more of a problem for the Physically Defensive that likes to switch into stuff like Landorus-T for Intimidate, but even then it's not terribly hindering. Porygon2 isn't switching into many of the Pokemon that run Knock Off anyway.

All right, so the new strategy dex is going up very soon and there are several Pokemon, including this one, that do not currently have completed analyses. JEFLIV, if you could please try to make this look presentable within the next day, that would be helpful. Please contact user darkie once you've made it look presentable (by that I mean "acceptable to be on-site") and refer to and update this pirate pad: https://www.piratepad.ca/p/dex_skeletons

This needs to be done by tomorrow afternoon (GMT -6), so make sure you get it done! If you can't make it look presentable in the next day, please say so in the pirate pad so someone else can make a quick skeleton of it. Thanks!

Can do. I'll write it up ASAP.

I reworked some of this in order to make it ready to go on site as a placeholder. You should look at it and implement it (or just replace what you have right now with it). Also, I still think Specially Defensive > Physically Defensive.

Just add a comment about Recover in the Moves section of the Specially Defensive set, that's something I forgot to do.

Other than that, looks good.

Porygon2 is a very quirky Pokemon, but it pulls its weight of 71.6 pounds with honors in many different roles. It has a good defensive typing and solid coverage to handle many threats effectively. Access to Eviolite gives it sky-high defensive stats, and it has decent Special Attack to boot. However, Porygon2's reliance on the Eviolite takes away passive recovery from Leftovers. Its great abilities also help it in many ways. Trace is a phenomenal walling ability, and with proper switching can grant Porygon2 even better abilities like Protean or Intimidate. The virtual duck is not without its flaws, however. It has a low Speed stat and is prone to status. Porygon2's Normal typing gives it a Ghost immunity, but that comes coupled with a weakness to Fighting, one of the most common attacking types in the tier.
Its defensive typing is OK. 1 weakness is definitely handy vs weaker attackers but being unable to hard wall stronger stuff isnt the best. Not exactly great prose to list a flaw then later in the same paragraph begin a sentence with "however, flaws, etc", change that up.

Usage Tips
========
Porygon2, by virtue of its bulk, can switch into almost any Special Attacker and not be 2HKO'd, even against one as powerful as Mega Charizard Y. Thus, it can be used as a panacea for Special Attackers, spreading status, walling these Pokemon, and attacking with good power. It's necessary to use Recover often so you don't get worn down by powerful attacks and hazards. Porygon2 still has the physical bulk to take Psyshocks and weaker physical attacks, and can pivot, but it will be worn down if it does so.
this is good. Throw some stuff in about trace though. Hard switch in on regenerator users or natural cure users even if you have no intention of walling them can heal Porygon 2 for example.

Other than that this is well written. QC 2/3

Ok this is good, especially the way its written, I'd like to see more examples in checks and counters though.
I also don't like the TR set, but I've had a few differing opinions on this, so I'd like to see the opinions of QC members which I haven't already heard.

Overview
########
Porygon2 is a very quirky Pokemon, but it pulls its weight of 71.6 pounds with honorvirtues in many different roles. It has a decent defensive typing and solid coverage to handle many threats effectively. Access to Eviolite gives it sky-high defensive stats, and it has moderately high Special Attack to boot. Its great abilities also help it in many ways. Trace is a phenomenal walling ability, and with proper switching can grant Porygon2 even better abilities likesuch as Protean or Intimidate. The virtual duck is not without its flaws, however. It has a low Speed stat and, so it is prone to being inflicted with status. Its reliance on the Eviolite takes away passive recovery from Leftovers. Porygon2's Normal typing gives it a Ghost immunity, but that comes coupled with a weakness to Fighting, one of the most common attacking types in the tier. Overall, Porygon2 is an advanced potent threat both defensively and offensively (especially with its coverage), and is easy to fit into a team.

SET NAMEpecially Defensive
########
name: Specially Defensive
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Shadow Ball / Thunder Wave / Toxic
move 4: Recover
ability: Trace
item: Eviolite
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
nature: Calm

Moves:
========
BoltBeam provides at least neutral coverage against nearly all opponents and when used with Porygon2's highdecent Special Attack, both moves pack decent damage. Shadow Ball helps deal with the many Sspecial Aattackers weak to the Ghost-type, as well as providing a strong hit on Aegislash, since this set takes significantly more damage from Sacred Sword. A status move can be used in this slot instead, for more stall-oriented needs. Toxic wears down many attackers, while Thunder Wave can help slow them down so that Porygon2 and other team members outspeed. Recover is almost a necessity as it is Porygon2's only way to regain HP.

Set Details
========
The Calm nature and EV's maximizes Special Defense. Eviolite is, as on any set for Porygon2, a necessity because of the bulk it affordprovides. Trace is used as the Aability to steal your opponent's options, which are often helpful. In this case Porygon2 is more likely to get Abilities like Sheer Force that can help it.

Usage Tips
========
Porygon2, by virtue of its bulk, can switch into almost any Special Attacker and not be 2HKO'd, even against ones as powerful as Mega Charizard Y. Thus, it can be used as a panacea for Sspecial Aattackers, spreading status, by walling these Pokemon, spreading status, and attacking with gomodest power. It's necessary to use Recover often so you don't get worn down by powerful attacks and entry hazards. Porygon2 still has the physical bulk to take Psyshocks and weaker physical attacks, and can pivot, but it will be worn down if it does so. Porygon2 can utilize Trace is a very powerfulto take advantage of the opponents ability and makes it easy (and in fact sometimes beneficial) for Porygon2 , with possible scenarios including switching into take STAB attacks from Vaporeon, Houndoom, and ArcaninHeatran's Lava Plume, among othersor Gliscor's Toxic.

Team Options
========
A Rapid Spinn or Defog users such as Excadrill or Defogger such as, Mandibuzz, Latias, Zapdos, or Skarmory isare recommended to keep entry hazards off of the field so Porygon2 is not worn down. A bulky Pokemon which resists the Fighting resist-type, such as Landorus-T, is also important to handle thoese attackersPokemon which trouble Porygon2. Cleric support from Clefable or Sylveon is very nice since Porygon2 has no way to deal with status. Fairy-types have good synergy in general as they resist Fighting-type attacks and Porygon2 can easily take most neutral special attacks aimed at them.

SET NAMEPhysically Defensive
########
name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Recover
move 4: Toxic / Thunder Wave
ability: Trace
item: Eviolite
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
nature: Bold

Moves
========
Again, Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are used, as they are reasonably powerful, and few thingsPokemon resist both moves, allowing Porygon2 to hit most opponents neutrally. Recover is an absolute necessity for this set, because it allows Porygon2 to stall poisoned opponents out and, more importantly, to heal itself., as Porygon2 can't heal itself with Leftovers, so Recover is needed. Either Toxic or Thunder Wave can be used as the status move, but Toxic is generally better because of the passive damage it inflicts.

Set Details
========
Trace is the best Aability for this set, because itPorygon2 can get access toreceive many wonderful Aabilities through wit. Flash Fire on Houndoom before Mega Evolution renders it about useless against Trace, for instance. Analytic is also an option for increased damage output, but lessens Porygon2's walling capabilities. It', so it is not slashed due to Trace's general superiority. The Bold nature, together with this EV spread, makes Porygon2's defenses even more ridiculous at no cost to Porygon2it.

Usage Tips
========
This version of Porygon2 can force switches, deal damage, and spread status. In a pinch, this set can be used as a pivot, as well. This set counters mixed Aegislash, Salamence, and Haxorus and stops Garchomp in its tracks. It is necessary to predict with Recover, since Porygon2 is outsped by most things. It's not recommended to switch Porygon2 into weakstrong attacks since it can be worn down by hazards very quickly this way. Porygon2 still has great mixed bulk with this set, so it can still take moderately powerful Sspecial Aattacks as well.

Team Options
========
(this paragraph is exactly the same as the one for the other set, so C/P the changes and then reword it so it isn't the same)

A Rapid Spinner such as Excadrill or Defogger such as Mandibuzz, Latias, Zapdos, or Skarmory is recommended to keep hazards off so Porygon2 is not worn down. A bulky Fighting resist such as Landorus-T is also important to handle those attackers. Cleric support from Clefable or Sylveon is very nice since Porygon2 has no way to deal with status. Fairy-types have good synergy in general as they resist Fighting-type attacks and Porygon2 can easily take most neutral attacks.

SET NAMETrick Room
########
name: Trick Room
move 1: Trick Room
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Thunderbolt
move 4: Recover / Tri Attack / Hidden Power Fire
ability: Trace / Download
item: Eviolite
nature: Quiet
evs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
nature: Quiet

Moves:
========
Porygon2 can also run a radically different set from the previous two. Its low Speed coupled with its high Special Attack makes it a very powerful Trick Room sweeper. The first slots (beyond the self-explanatory Trick Room) boosare coverage that allow Porygon2's to sweeping capabilities. on its own; BoltBeam is a classic and never fails. Keep in mind that this variant of Porygon2 is strictly offensive. TIn the last moveslot, one can be filled with either use Recover for healing, or Tri Attack as a STAB move. Shadow Ball could also be used here to hit Ghost-types, but it's not recommended. Hidden Power Fire is an excellent coverage opportunity to hit the very common Steel-types in the tier. You may want to run Recover over one of eithe twor Thunderbolt or Ice BoltBeam moves if you want healing ands well as coverage.

Set Details
========
This EV spread neglects defensive investment (which are already huge with the Eviolite)in exchange for full-on sweeping capabilities. The Quiet nature drops speed, but this is useful for Trick Room. Trace is a great Ability, because many pPokemon that Porygon2 may come up against have abilities that grant immunities to their own types likesuch as Flash Fire on Heatran. Download is also helpful to improve your chances of sweeping. Analytic is not helpful since the goal of Trick Room is to move first.

Usage Tips
========
Porygon2 makes a reliable setter of Trick Room throughout the game, so it should be preserved to do this multiple times. It can also deal gomodest damage under Trick Room and, while still being able to handles many attacks. This is more of a support Pokemon for Trick Room teams, but it can't be used a sponge for powerful attacks.

Team Options
========
Reuniclus is another good Trick Room sweeper that works well with Porygon2. Conkeldurr is a goodfast tank in Trick Room and, so it appreciates the support as wellprovided by Porygon2's own Trick Room. Escavalier is an effective Pursuit trapper and has an extremely high Attack stat in general along with abysmal Speed, making it a great fit. Mega Abomasnow has good bulk and high Aattacking stats and works wellwhile also being a slow Pokemon, but its Hhail can wear down Porygon2. A few Pokemon that work outside of Trick Room like Garchomp are also necessary, though.

Other Options
########
Porygon2 is such a versatile pokemon that there isn't much it can't do. The three sets listed are its most popular, but feel free to use any set that fulfills whatever niche spot youyou require that Porygon2 can't find a match for provide. One especially notable alternate move for Porygon2 is Foul Play. It provides coverage, and it is well as counteringalso handy against opponents with higher base Attack than Porygon2stats. On the defensive sets, Conversion 2 deserves a mention because it can give Porygon2 useful resistances to moves used by Choice-locked Pokemovesn. This could be used on an Analytic sweeper set with BoltBeam and Recover. Psyshock can be used instead of Thunderbolt or Ice Beam if special defenderstanks such as Conkeldurr are proving a lot of trouble, but this sacrifices the much more useful coverage that either Thunderbolt or Ice Beam powerrovides. Discharge can also be used on any set except Trick Room for the paralysis chance, and Tri Attack can be used on defensive sets if you want a STAB attack.

Checks & Counters
########

**Fighting-Type Pokemon and Moves**: The Fighting-type is a ridiculously common offensive type, both for powerfulresent as STABs on the popular Breloom, Keldeo, Terrakion, and Conkeldurr, or and others, and in conjunction withs coverage in the ubiquitous coverage moveform of Focus Blast for many special attackers such as Gengar. As Porygon2 has trouble taking out bulkyis weak to the Fighting-Ttypes, and can usually be outsped and 2HKOed by Landorus and its ilk of Focus Blast userthese Pokemon make effective checks.

**Taunt**: Taunt prevents Porygon2 from using Recovering and setting up Trick Room. This prevents Porygon2 from what is successentiafully executing its essence:main role: a defensive tanking hits. Without any form of recovery due to its Eviolite reliance, Porygon2 must either switch or hope not to die after being Taunted. Trick Room is also renderinflicted null if it can't be usedwith Taunt.

**Trick, Knock Off, and Switcheroo**: Porygon2 is absolutely reliant on the Eviolite to work in any given situation, and any one of these three commonly seen moves can eliminate the item in an instant. Thus, Porygon2 should not stay in and hope to be successful against any known enemies withknown to use one of these moves.

**Status**: Porygon2 often sees itself afflicted with status, and without a teammate with Heal Bell, it cannot get rid of it. Porygon2 can't use the Lum Berry, it can't use Psycho Shift, anddue to Eviolite so it can't do anything to get rid of the poison that hurtdecreases it so oftes lifespan.
