Beyond that, I'd encourage you to run some calcs and to talk to other experienced users who have used Arghonaut in order to get some EV spreads with proper justifications. Overall, the basic premise of your sets are fairly solid, as well as the moves. Waterfall could potentially be slashed onto some of the sets, and maybe if a full out Recover set is deemed necessary then it would be a good move to include as well.

jas edit: I updated the OP with the numberless version you have here. Thanks for doing that.

I'd definitely throw up the Specially Bulky set - Max HP, Max SpD+, with Recover and Roar. While it doesn't have the sheer stopping power of, say, a Chansey, it's still a damn good wall, able to tank a lot of things it has no business tanking and hit back with respectable force. It's also a great all purpose emergency stop to set up - get in, tank something, Roar your opponent out. Now that I think about it, there's probably a gimmicky Red Card set you could use as well if you don't feel like dropping a move slot on Roar, but as I said - gimmicky.

Specially Bulky Argh is the best Anti-Syclant mon around, resisting both its STABs, and ignoring any kind of boosts it manages to gain. It's a near-perfect counter to Volkraken, able to switch in on nearly all of its common sets and Recover off that Analytic-boosted damage the next turn (actually getting some use out of that low base speed). Will o' Wisp is the only thing that could give it pause, and that's fairly rare in my experience. It also beats Mollux pretty hard, though obviously it needs to run EQ to do anything other than Roar it away.

Overall, I'd say Specially Bulky Argh is at least as useful as the AV set, if not more so, and definitely worth a mention in the post. This is the set I like, though the attacking moves should probably be slashed to fit your teams needs.

Arghonaut @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Roar
- Recover
- Drain Punch
- Earthquake

Without Bulk Up, Drain Punch is a bit lacking in power. It might be wise to at the very least /Toxic on the 3rd option of the Recover set, as well as mention it in the viable option slot.

On the AV set, could you explain what the atk/def evs are for exactly? Do they specifically 2HKO something or prevent a 2HKO? Just so people know exactly why they are using it.

also...
- In a bad situation, If you are running out of HP, either use Drain Punch or switch out since you don't have Leftovers recovery!
- leftovers will grant you 6% of your hp at the end of every turn.
- if you see anything that will wall arghonaut, make sure that they are eliminated before you send it out.
There are parts in this analysis that seem completely unnecssary, so remove them

thanks for pointing those things out QoL. After reading through the article, I noticed how bad it is >.<, I guess I'll redo most of it soon.

The Bulk Up set should not have speed evs at all as all they do is speed creep. Could you also mention what the special defense evs let you tank specifically? Aegislash mentions should be removed. Knock Off should at least be in Other Options to hit Kitsunoh and Necturna for decent damage.

The defensively bulky set is the best set. Drain punch, recover, toxic, waterfall/aqua jet/gunk shot. Gunk shot may have 70 accuracy, but it whoops fairies on the switch. I would add gunk shot to the OO as well because its good.

^It's already in there.

Kingriolu, the biggest thing here is you NEED to explain the EVs. If you don't have good reasons for the EVs you chose, then that's a big spotlight that says there are probably some better EV spreads. Run calcs, see what EVs help Argho survive main threats.

You have 248 EV's too much on the AV set (seems like you wanted 80 HP / 176 Atk / 252 Def judging from the set details).
