Project Counter that Threat! 21st Week: Snover - Counters Submissions

So here are the sets, remember that you should vote for a true counter:

Stunky @ Eviolite
Ability: Aftermath
Level: 5
EVs: 92 Atk / 220 Def / 188 SpD
Careful Nature
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
- Defog
- Filler

The standard bulky Stunky spread I believe. Abra can't really touch it and pursuit OHKOs, even if Abra stays in. Defog will only help the stunky user, as Abra doesn't take hazard damage. Not much to the set, pretty standard stuff.

Munchlax @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 76 Atk / 116 Def / 236 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Body Slam
- Pursuit
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Munchlax is never 2HKO'd by any of Abra's moves (bar Psyshock, but who runs that ?_?) after SR and OHKOes back with Body Slam 100% of the time. Pursuit also OHKOes Abra on the switch. RestTalk provides some recovery to last the whole match. The defensive EVs provide Eviolite numbers, but transferring 80 EVs from defense to attack gives Munch a 75% chance to OHKO Abra with Pursuit after it has subbed once, so if you don't care about Eviolite numbers at all, that's a possible change.

Wynaut @ Berry Juice
Ability: Shadow Tag
Level: 5
EVs: 236 HP / 132 Def / 132 SpD
Bold Nature
- Encore
- Mirror Coat
- Counter
- Destiny Bond

240 SpA Life Orb Abra Dazzling Gleam vs. 236 HP / 132 SpD Wynaut: 12-14 (41.3 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
240 SpA Life Orb Abra Psychic vs. 236 HP / 132 SpD Wynaut: 10-12 (34.4 - 41.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Lickitung @ Eviolite
Ability: Oblivious
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 76 Def / 236 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell

So you switch into Abra, go for Wish then either Protect or Knock Off depending on the roll / SR. Then you WishTect (if need) until you get a Knock Off on Abra, killing it. Fairly simple

Honedge @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
Level: 5
EVs: 156 HP / 196 Atk / 140 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance/Automotize
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword
- Iron Head

Basically, Honedge gives zero fucks about the given set, being able to comfortably switch into any move and OHKO with Shadow Sneak.

196+ Atk Honedge Shadow Sneak vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Abra: 20-26 (105.2 - 136.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
it even beats LO Shadow ball most of the time.
240 SpA Life Orb Abra Shadow Ball vs. 156 HP / 140 SpD Eviolite Honedge: 18-23 (78.2 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Spritzee @ Eviolite
Ability: Aroma Veil
Level: 5
EVs: 212 HP / 36 Def / 12 SpA / 236 SpD / 12 Spe
Calm Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
ok so my specially defensive spritzee set tanks all hits comfortably:
236 SpA Life Orb Abra Psychic vs. 212 HP / 236+ SpD Eviolite Spritzee: 9-13 (33.3 - 48.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
And can proceed to set up calm minds with the proper care of not getting into range n_n

Slowpoke @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 116 Def / 196 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave

without Shadow Ball Abra can't do much to Slowpoke at all, with this spread it only has an 11% chance to 3hko with Dazzling Gleam while Slowpoke can comfortably spam Slack Off and wear it down with Scald. With Slack Off and Regenerator Poke has no trouble keeping healthy to check it throughout the match. If real you can run 76 Attack EVs and Aqua Tail to have a good chance to outright OHKO Abra.

Bronzor @ Berry Juice
Ability: Levitate
Level: 5
EVs: 60 HP / 4 Atk / 228 Def / 4 SpA / 148 SpD / 20 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Flash Cannon
- Earthquake
- Recycle

236 SpA Life Orb Abra Hidden Power Fighting vs. 220 HP / 148+ SpD Bronzor: 6-9 (24 - 36%) -- 82.5% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
(6, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 9)
4 Atk Bronzor Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Abra: 9-11 (47.3 - 57.8%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO
(9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 11)

Two HP Fightings pops Berry Juice. Bronzor can set up Stealth Rock, Recycle back its Berry Juice, and finally 2HKO with Earthquake at its leisure. To KO, Abra will need two HP Fighting crits in a row, and at least one of them will have to be a 1/16 max roll.
Bronzor is also able to set up Stealth Rock against a good portion of the metagame due to its good bulk and can check Bunnelby, so it's not wholly a dead weight outside of Abra.

Gothita @ Eviolite
Ability: Shadow Tag
Level: 5
EVs: 240 SpA / 80 SpD / 160 Spe
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Gothita can avoid the 2HKO from Dazzling Gleam, Abra's strongest move against it, and proceed to OHKO depending on rolls with Dark Pulse. Even if Dark Pulse doesn't get a max roll, Gothita can take another hit and KO next turn.

If Goth comes in as Abra subs, it can still win, as illustrated by this replay.

Relevant Calcs:
240+ SpA Gothita Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Abra: 16-20 (84.2 - 105.2%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
236 SpA Life Orb Abra Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 80 SpD Eviolite Gothita: 8-10 (38 - 47.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Pumkaboo-Super
@ Eviolite *could be BJ*
Level: 5
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 44 HP / 148 Atk / 116 Def / 156 SpDef / 28 Spd
Impish Nature
-Shadow Sneak
-Leech Seed
-Will-O-Wisp
-Bullet Seed

Shadow Sneak KOes, Abra can't KO with anything. Even Shadow Ball wouldn't KO. What if Abra sets up Substitute? Then Bullet Seed is aiming for the KO assuming 3 hits.
Pumkaboo is not only Abra counter but it can also spinblock with ease against the most common spinner, Drilbur.
All hail the pumpkin.

Drowzee @ Eviolite
Ability: Insomnia
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 156 Def / 12 SpA / 116 SpD / 28 Spe
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock

Damn good check to Abra, also serves as a pretty good stallbreaker/supporter/Foongus check. However, the issue of it being Pawn/ Stunky bait sorta hurts this guy's potential ;-;

236 SpA Life Orb Abra Dazzling Gleam vs. 196 HP / 0+ SpD Eviolite Drowzee: 6-9 (24 - 36%) -- 15.4% chance to 3HKO

12 SpA Drowzee Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Abra: 6-7 (31.5 - 36.8%) -- 17.6% chance to 3HKO

I removed sparktrain's set because he didn't consider the fact that hazards can be up on both sides to say that a Pokémon counters something (Yes hazards do matter), and Washibon's set as Beldum is a gimmicky Pokémon and like I said in the OP "Use common sense and avoid gimmicks" so Pokémon that aren't viable should always be avoided even if they totally counter the topic Pokémon.

This week had a lot of cool sets that I believe all of them deal with the topic set really well, but trust me the next week will be harder ;)

Voting ends Monday morning GMT +/-0!

I think its kinda dumb to remove Beldum. Its no more gimmicky than Pokemon like Honedge or Drowzee. W/e tho, voting Bronzor, bc Bronzor is the shit

coming up with gimmicky counters is fun ;_;

Anyway, voting ZoroarkForever bc munchlax is awesome
