Ranting & Raving!
The main focus on Pokemon may be the, well, Pokemon, but trainers just have as much involvement as the Pokemon do (afterall, your character in the game is a trainer). Trainers come in all shapes, colors, and sizes, but they can be organized into groups (Trainer Classes). So let's start off with the ones who have no one else that looks like them:
And that's its for the Gym Leaders and Elite Four! The rest are my just quickly going over the Trainer Classes and how they look now. Since there's so many it'll only be a sentence or two (unless I feel like putting in more).
So here we go:
We've been shown the artwork of Roxanne, Brawly, Wattson, Flannery, Norman, Sidney, and Phoebe, and now the demo has revealed the remaining few:
HEY! How am I suppose to compare them if the new one is showing us her back? Well, we'll just assume the front of her outfit looks the same as the back.
The part of Winona's outfit that covers her body, torso, and arms is now a solid sky blue with a wing-like collar design. She's also now wearing white gloves with a wing design attached to it at the wrist. Though we can't see her feet, we can see that she's still wearing white (now skin tight) pants and either they have a wing design attached to the lower leg or she's now wearing white boots which has the wing design. Going back up, it looks like her new outfit shows more of her neck a check (well, it shows more of her back the back) and we can see the collar around her neck is white instead of blue. Her head mainly stays the same (BTW, that's her hair, not a scarf). Also she had gotten rid of the yellow parts.
However many changes there are, overall they're minor and she looks pretty much the same. Her pose does try to make her look more graceful compared to her original's which shows her in a middle of running. However her in-game sprites has always showed her in a graceful pose so nothing really has changed. So yeah, I approve.
D'aww, there so cute mirroring each other.
Being twins they're of course dressed alike, but their redesign does try to give them so individuality. Their robes(?) are a much darker blue now with the red parts replaced with either a navy blue (sleeves and pants) or white (body). In addition the red Pokeball logo on their shirt and sleeve is gone, replaced by a navy blue Pokeball with a ring around it on the side of their pants. Their shows are blue instead of black. Their faces also pretty much stay the same, which in the original games was the only way to tell them apart since Liza has pigtails (it's also the only way to know Tate is a boy). However their redesign now gives another clue to their gender: Tate has blue star buttons on his shirt while Liza has red star buttons.
So while the changes here are a bit more noticeable then with Winona, they're not anything too drastic. It shows they're still twins, they still dress alike, and now the redesign shows they act alike too. You know, maybe there's no point in doing this, it doesn't seem like they changed that much about the character designs...
Oh my Arcues, I spoke too soon. Wallace, what did they do to you?
Do I really have to describe the changes with the redesign? *sigh* Fine, well, starting of, Wallace is now wearing this odd suspenders thing which reveals the side and top of his stomach. The suspenders are part of his jacket which is obviously smaller than his original as his original jacket actually covered him up. Underneath the jacket he wears a small purple shirt that barely covers his chest and goes up to his neck. He's also wearing white pants now, is no longer wearing long sleeves, is wearing a 3 ring white bracelet on at least his right arm, and now has a green and blue scarf draped around his shoulders which go all the way down to his feet. His face remains the same, though he has a weird expression on his face. Also I think he's wearing a cape that looks like wings, not too sure (probably a reference to his Champion design).
So, yeah, what in the world happened here? I mean, I know Wallace was always a bit flamboyant but this is taking it up to RIDICULOUS levels. Someone said they may be trying to make him look like Milotic, but unless Milotic is getting a Mega Evolution he doesn't:
So yeah, can't quite say I agree with the direction they went with here. It's sort of my problem with the Team Aqua admins and Archie, it's too much. You've gone past the point of parody to flanderizing.
Onto the Elite Four, Glacia is looking as classy as ever.
Glacia's dress is now a soft lavender instead of a vibrant purple and doesn't look to have a belt. Her sleeve is now all the same color as the dress and it ends right after the elbow, her hands now covered with white gloves that go a bit past her wrists. The dress also has a deeper v-neck collar which is a fancy white pattern, revealing more skin. She's wearing a white collar around her neck which takes us to her face which mostly remained the same. She does look to be wearing eyeshadow and her hair has an extra braid(?), but overall the same.
Not much to say about Glacia. The Hoenn Elite Four don't really have much character to them and I find that out of all of them Glacia has the least. Maybe they can finally give some more character to them in ORAS?

Ah, the last one! Let's see how much Drake has changed...
*looks back and forth at the original art and new art*
... Well that easy! Yeah, Drake doesn't change a single bit! Then again he does have a pretty good design already, it would be a shame to change it. Of course he's not the only Elite Four member to do this, Phoebe doesn't change her design much either (but she was de-aged to a child/young teenager). Well at least we'll ave one familiar face with a familiar fashion in ORAS.

And that's its for the Gym Leaders and Elite Four! The rest are my just quickly going over the Trainer Classes and how they look now. Since there's so many it'll only be a sentence or two (unless I feel like putting in more).
So here we go:
Bug Catcher: Looks the same, no longer wears a shoulder backpack but now has a yellow stripe on his shirt and a green patch on his pants. His skin may also be a tiny bit darker.
School Kid: That green shirt is very Max-like, though other then that it looks like they tried to ignore him looking like Max which makes ORAS School Kid (boy) look different then the original. Mainly he has a bowl haircut and his glasses are rectangles. However he still wears brown pants and carries a blue bag (though the bags look different).
The girl School Kid also looks a bit different. She's wearing a green shirt instead of pink, brown frilly skirt instead of pain blue skirt, has pigtails, is wearing long white socks, and her bag if pink and a different design.
Camper & Picnicker: Pretty much the same. At most the redesign has a merit badge on their shirt, blue writing in the red logo on their cap, and a red stripe on their sock.
Rich Boy & Lady: Besides the Rich Boy now having a much more punchable face, he hasn't changed much.
Lady has gone through a rather noticeable one. Her dress is a darker green, smaller, shorter, and doesn't have puffy shoulders. In addition the redesign is wearing a whiter undershirt due to the dress have a deeper v-neck. Her hat inverted colors, now its white with a dark green stripe and bow. Also she's no longer carrying a basket.
Tuber: The kids are the same design, but the boy now has a blue & white tube while the girl has a pink & white.
Swimmer (Female): Have I ever told anyone here I have a theory that the Pokemon artists are all males, a bit sexual repressed, and thus have a whole draw of female designs? Well here's my proof. You see, XY had Swimmers in them and while the Male Swimmer is the same from XY, the female one isn't. Of course maybe that's because the male swimmers have always looked the same so maybe they wanted the female Swimmers to look like they did in Gen III. Well in that case that's a yes and no. They're wearing the same bikini though the new one has a white bow on the bra and white stripe on the underwear. They also have different hairstyles, color, and the new one is even wearing sunglasses.
Gentleman: Pretty muchthe same. He's a bit thinner and doesn't have a cane, but he's still touching his hat and that's what's important.
Sailor: If you're wondering why there are two sprites, apparently the right one is from the Japanese version and apparently the gesture its doing is offensive in some places. So if you're offended by it, sorry.
While pretty much the same, they made him thinner to better show he's suppose to be muscular. His skin may also be a bit darker.
Breeder: Ha! The Breeders in XY wear green, so they also had to draw a new male artwork.
So the apron design on both are different (well I'm assuming the female's is just like the male's, she has her back turned), originally they had a white Pokeball logo on the bottom but that's now gone and replaced with a dark red Pikachu-like shape and some words written under it on the chest. Also the male now has a rake and the female has a bucket of berries (I can see an Oran and Pinap Berry in there).
Battle Girl: Pretty much the same. Bottom of the shoes are more detailed, also the shadow is missing. Now get out of her way before she crashes and loses half of her HP!
Collector: The same, if not a bit thinner (glasses also have a thicker yellow frame). He also has pouches on his side to hold his Pokeballs instead of on his belt. He also thinks making that pose will make him look cool when in actuality it makes him look even creepier...
Fisherman: The white part of his cap is bigger, his jacket is closed, and is pants are a darker brown, but overall the same.
Poke Maniac: You sick freak! He chopped a Charizard in half an is wearing its lower half as pants! As you can tell, he's been doing this even in the original games! Though looks like there's some form of retribution, look like he's having a stroke of something.
Bug Maniac: Why yes, this is what the Bug Catchers grow up into being. Pretty much the same though has darker skin, much like the Bug Catcher. Of course they did their hardest to make him look even creepier than the Collector...
Ruin Maniac: What's with all the maniacs? Anyone he's thinner now but overall the same, even has the same magnifying glass, backpack, and maps sticking out.
Ninja Boy: Can't tell i that's his scarf or a piece of his hair sticking up. Eitherway he look the same other then that. Believe it!
Kindler: Oh, major differences here! He now wears a red apron with a orange flame on it instead of a pure blue apron, has a black undershirt instead of white, red bandana instead of white, orange bands instead of beige, and is wearing white gloves. He's also much more calmer then the original which is holding two torches and has a slasher smile. Guess he got over just wanting to watch the world burn.
Bird Keeper: Where's your bird cage? It took me a minute or two to figure out you were the Bird Keeper. Look the same except he's now wearing a thick red glove and his pants have a navy wing pattern on them.
Dragon Tamer: I think he thinks he's a super hero now in ORAS. He's wearing gold boots, a gold chest plate, gold belt, and he cut off his purple sleeves and put on a pair of gold gloves. He also has a smoother haircut.
Guitarist: Well for one thing he put on a shirt. His guitar also looks different but that's mainly it.
Pokemon Ranger: HA! Since they they made the XY Ranger black they need to make yet another new male artwork! And they both pretty much look the same as they did originally, though there's not some more black to their hat and vest.
Beauty: Yeah, completely different. Actually, is it just me, or does the new Beauty kind of look like a, well, "working gal"?
Parasol Lady: Same, the umbrella may have a bit more design and her hair is black instead of dark blue, but same overall.
Aroma Lady: Wow, this one looks almost the same exact pose as the sprite! The new one does have a flower in her hair, a beaded belt, and a more striped dress instead of a checkered one, but still almost spot on with the pose.
Poke Fan: I call shenanigans! The male's black Pikachu shirt is now a sweater vest with a yellow undershirt. He traded the kid in for the following Pokemon merchandise: a Pokeball heart pin on his sweater vest, a Plusle & Minun bag, a Wobbuffet plush, Skitty ears, and other.
Meanwhile the female traded in her Wailmer's plush for a Smoochum magazine and a Pokeball heart pin on her shirt. She also swapped her brown bag for a blue bag.
Triathlete: Huh, they only used the male Triathletes, odd.
The runner stayed mostly the same, his hair is brown instead of blue and has a red logo & navy stripes on his shirt now. Also he's wearing a watch.
The cyclist has blue stripes on his pants instead of white, is wearing a white helmet instead of blue, sunglasses are red & blue instead of black, and has whitegloves and shoes (do I even need to mention its a different bike?).
The swimmer is almost completely different. Actually, is that even a guy? I'm guessing it is, he doesn't look like the female Triathlete swimmer.
Ace Trainer:
FUN FACT 1: Before Gen IV they were called CoolTrainers.
FUN FACT 2: For some reason, the Male Ace Trainer has different haircuts in the Japanese and International versions.
Anyway there's a noticeable difference as the ORAS ones have their jackets open. There are other differences too like the boy is wearing shorts instead of pants, the jacket is of a different design, and the boy as yet another haircut style.
Expert: One thing is that their robes are black on the bottom instead of blue. The male is a bit darker skinned, has a goatee instead of a beard, and no mustache. He also has blue stripes around his shoulders while the female has red stripes. The female also no longer has her fan with a Pokeball logo on it, instead she has an actual Pokeball (upgrade!).
Sr. and Jr.: They ditched their sweater vests (which is how most porn starts) and the Sr. dyed her hair black since the Jr. though she looked more cute with black hair instead of freaky blue hair. Their favorite color is also yellow so the Sr. has a yellow headband and the Jr. a yellow hairclip (and if you're wondering why the Sr. is wearing a green collared shirt if her favorite color is yellow, it's because, umm, Sr.'s at their schools wear green, yeah, that'll work).
Young Couple: They look completely different.
Interviewer: It's Gabby and Ty! Gabby is now wearing white pants and dyed her hair brown while Ty is wearing a navy cap, gray shirt with a Rotom, and a normal brown belt.
And that's pretty much it! However there are four new trainers, but I'll talk about them next time. This post is already very long...
School Kid: That green shirt is very Max-like, though other then that it looks like they tried to ignore him looking like Max which makes ORAS School Kid (boy) look different then the original.
