Project Counter That Threat! Mk II

Oh, so now people want checks / counters that can also fit on offensive teams? Fine then.

Scyther @ Black Sludge
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Pain Split
- Waterfall / Poison Jab
- filler

The first Knock Off will sting, but it does less than half, and Qwilfish will tank all subsequent attacks with relative ease. Pain Split allows Qwilfish to compensate from the loss of its Black Sludge via Knock Off and continue walling Pangoro, and even Spikes can partially curb Pangoro's Parting Shot.

"offensive checks"
"weezing and carbink"

Archeops
Ability: Defeatist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Acrobatics
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Roost

I wanted to do bulky chops but banded knock off still does over half. Regular offensive chops is really easy to slap onto a team, though, and checks a very long list of mons outside of panda because of its ability to force switches, grab momentum, etc.
This is nowhere near a check or counter...

252+ Atk Choice Band Pangoro Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Archeops: 240-283 (82.4 - 97.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Iron Fist Pangoro Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Archeops: 333-393 (114.4 - 135%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Is Archeops switching into this monster?
Also, xzern I highly suggest changing the set to Adamant, Pandoro really doesnt outspeed anything significant with Jolly iirc, but let me know if I'm wrong.
Edit: missy is a better check because it can switch into 2/3 of pangoros moves :P

it's a check because it can force panda out with acro. I mean, hey, I know the terms check and counter have been thrown around by everyone for ages and have different meanings for different people but "switching into the opponent" typically doesn't mean it's a check.

Pokémon A checks Pokémon B if Pokémon A can win every time when switching into at least one of Pokemon B's attacks, without factoring in hax.
Pokémon A counters Pokémon B if Pokémon A can manually switch into Pokémon B and still win every time, even under the worst case scenario, without factoring in hax.

Archeops is kinda a shaky check if Knock Off AND Drain Punch do that much damage given that a) they're both spammable af b) it KOs with SR c) Roost doesn't even bring Archeops back to full so it can't switch in more than once

Anyway here's a check that fits on most teams:

Slurpuff @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Drain Punch
- Belly Drum
- Return

Slurpuff not only fits on most offensive teams, it also sets up on Pangoro's most spammable moves Knock Off and Drain Punch. This discourages teams from spamming these moves should they be vulnerable to a Slurpuff sweep (let's be real tho what team isn't?). Not only that, it requires Pangoro to predict and use Gunk Shot or Parting Shot and if Slurpuff does happen to switch into a Gunk Shot and die, Pangoro is then locked into a move with really poor coverage and can be taken advantage of by another teammate. Parting Shot doesn't count because if it does then you technically can't check panda :) and you could never counter it anyway
