Hippowdon @ Leftovers

EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature

- Slack Off
- Stone Edge/Toxic

Hippowdon can come in all lando's moves and stall out with toxic+slack off.
Earthquake is a strong STAB attack, Stealth Rock is a great support move, and Hippowdon is very good at setting it up due to its great bulk. Slack Off provides reliable recovery. The last moveslot depends on what your team needs, as all of the options can benefit you depending on your build. The EV spread avoids the 2HKO from Life Orb Thundurus's and Mega Manectric's Hidden Power Ice, as well as the OHKO from +2 Life Orb Terrakion's Close Combat. Hippowdon can function as a catch-all check for both physical and special attackers, such as Talonflame, Garchomp, non-Choice Band Dragonite, Bisharp, and Gengar.

Mega Sableye is a cool check to Landorus-T because it can come in on any hit, recover up, burn it and setup on it.
In case you didn't mega evolve yet, you should keep your prankster, burn the Landorus-T and then recover up and mega evolve later.
I made it as a Check though, because Will-O-Wisp misses and also Landorus-T can just U-turn out or switch into most likely Clefable, where then you have to switch.

Mega Heracross is a solid switch-in to Scarf Landorus-T, as it has solid 80/115 natural physical bulk once mega evolved, resists Earthquake and isn't bothered at all by Knock Off. Although it has to watch out for Stone Edge, which is a 3HKO, and Explosion, which has a 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock, on any other move Mega Heracross wins 1vs1 and can either for a 2HKO with Rock Blast or take advantage of a predicted switch with Sub or SD.

Scarf Keldeo is a counter to Landorus-T sets lacking Explosion (hard check if it does have explosion), while Specs can easily check it and threaten your opponents team with Scald Burns / Secret Sword or even an Icy Wind speed drop.

Leech seed Breloom can easily take on any attack that Landorus-T has (except for explosion) and drop a leech seed or spore to the opponent.
Here are some calcs:
  • 252 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Breloom: 74-87 (22.8 - 26.8%)
  • 252 Atk Landorus-T U-turn vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Breloom: 69-82 (21.2 - 25.3%)

  • 252 Atk Landorus-T Explosion vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Breloom: 245-289 (75.6 - 89.1%)
The reason why breloom is just a mere check, its because he can´t switch-in to a knock off and because his Big-Daddy Chesnaught (which someone has already took), outclass him.

Impressive defensive calcs, but what can Tangy boy do back?
0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 106-126 (27.7 - 32.9%) -- 4HKO
Tangrowth is winning in the long run thanks to giga drain recovery.
Or
0 SpA Tangrowth Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 224-268 (58.6 - 70.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Bop him with a HP Ice and swiftly 2HKO.

I chose the assault vest set as it allows Tangrowth to check other 'mons as well as Lando. At the end of this, Landorus is either U-turning out (and taking more hazard damage, whilst you regenerator all your health back) or staying in and dying.

While defensive sets tend to be a bit less popular these days than the offensive bulky sets, Defensive Mega Venusaur does at least hold the advantage of being able to come in on any of Lando-T's moves and heal off the damage, even when not Mega'd:
252 Atk Landorus-T Explosion vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Venusaur: 242-285 (66.4 - 78.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

From there it can simply Mega Evolve, use Synthesis to heal off damage, and then proceed to wear it down with Giga Drain unless the opponent decides to switch out.

idk if this actually a check but seeing as it can switchin to 4/6 of it's potential moves i think it's a check.

Mega Slowbro is the bane of any physical attacker's existence due to its impossibly high defense stat that only a few physical attackers can deal with but still need to fear when they switch into Mega Bro due to risking burns and getting hit by SE moves. In this situation vs Scarfed Lando-T, M-Slowbro has nothing to worry about. It comes in on an EQ, Mevo and Slacks Off after taking 61% at most and thus being up around 90% health. From here, the Bro can start setting up CM's or go straight for Scald to heavily damage Lando-T.

I know that Alomomola was posted already already, but I talked to Aragorn and he said this would be fine. The tech on this set is Rocky Helmet, which is used because it punishes Landorus-T for U-turning. Other Pokemon like defensive Landorus-T, Leftovers Alomomola, Leftovers Slowbro, etc do a good job at tanking hits from Landorus-T, but they don't stop it from getting cost-free momentum every time it comes in. Otherwise, this is pretty much just standard Alomomola and there isn't much else to say; Explosion only does a bit over half, so that's not too much of a concern, and it tanks all of the other attacks with ease. It also has Regen to make sure that it isn't work down by repeated switch-ins to U-turn, either.

Avalugg @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
-Avalanche

-Curse / Rapid Spin / Rock Slide

Despite Landorus having two supereffective attacks in Stone Edge and Superpower, Avalugg's ridiculous bulk + recover lets him shrug it off with ease.

252 Atk Landorus-T Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 0+ Def Avalugg: 126-150 (31.9 - 38%) -- 95.6% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Landorus-T Superpower vs. 252 HP / 0+ Def Avalugg: 152-180 (38.5 - 45.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Avalugg can easily switch into either move and proceed to recover off damage, which is made even easier with Stone Edge's miss chance and Superpower's attack drop, and if running leftovers over Rocky Helmet(although you miss out on dealing damage if he U-turns).

Avalanche is an easy OHKO, even at -1 :

-1 252 Atk Avalugg Avalanche vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Landorus-T: 516-612 (161.7 - 191.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

So you can proceed to either slaughter Landorus right away, possibly spin away hazards (although personally I don't like using Avalugg as a spinner due to SR weakness), try to set up with Curse if the opponent doesn't have any threatening special attckers, or use a move like Earthquake or Rock Slide to predict a switch into someone like Heatran or Charizard.

Lol, Ditto is actually the mon who can switch freely into Landorus-t and ALWAYS get the momentum
You get basically a Lando-t which counters the opponent Lando, and either move he chooses (EQ, U-Turn, SE, Knock Off) does nothing.
Only Knock Off has the potential to be annoying but it won't kill Ditto, and you still gain momentum and a potential (now that you have the freedom to use any move) Knock-Offer and Boomer.

The only fearsome move is Explosion, but..
-1 252 Atk Landorus-T Explosion vs. 0 HP / 24 Def (Landorus-T) Ditto (has 300HP): 209-247 (69.6 - 82.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Landorus-T Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Bronzong: 150-178 (44.3 - 52.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Once Bronzong gets off a reflect, Knock off will be doing even less damage.
252 Atk Landorus-T Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Bronzong through Reflect: 51-60 (15 - 17.7%) -- possible 6HKO

In return, Bronzong can set up screens, allowing for a frailer sweeper to set up, set up rocks, or explode. Although explosion does very little damage, it can give the bronzong player valuable momentum

It is also possible to run a defensive trick room set of SR, Gyro ball, TR, and Explosion. This also fares very well against lando

Shouldn't I be in the hall of fame now?
If I counted correctly, I have 3 entries in the archive.
Announcements for additions to the Hall of Fame are always on Fridays. But if you'd checked the Hall of Fame along with the archive, you'd have seen that your name is there, and has been since yesterday.

Gratz :)

Also, since I'm posting anyway, I'll say that firehusky made one revision to the Archive, and added Mega Sableye as a counter to Mega Medicham. Random Passerby added Mega Altaria as a check to Mega Garchomp, Mega Slowbro as a counter to Mega Tyranitar, and Mega Latias as a counter to Suicune. FYI, you get .5 points for every revision to the archive, so that's how Random Passerby is now at 6.5 points.

It's not a hard counter if it has a chance to knock it out after Sr. Toxicroak is a hard counter to Crocune
