Zangoose

[OVERVIEW]

Zangoose's base 90 Speed lets it outspeed Pokemon such as neutral-natured Flygon, Jolly Scrafty, and Gallade; however, Zangoose is outsped and threatened by the likes of Durant, Virizion, and Houndoom. What makes Zangoose special is its wallbreaking ability. With access to Facade and Toxic Boost, Zangoose can deal huge amounts of damage when it is poisoned. Zangoose also has access to Low Kick, Close Combat, and Knock Off, which can be used to hit Pokemon that resist Facade. Furthermore, Zangoose can use Quick Attack to deal damage to other priority users. Zangoose's shortcomings are its inability to stay on the field for long before being KOed because of its mediocre defenses, the chip damage from poison, and its Normal typing, which grants it no resistances.

Moves
========

Facade is Zangoose's main STAB move and deals double damage when Zangoose is poisoned, making it deadly alongside Toxic Boost. Low Kick hits Pokemon that resist Facade such as Rhyperior and Mega Steelix; Close Combat can be used over Low Kick for more consistent damage, but beware of the defense drops that come with using Close Combat. Knock Off hits Ghost-type Pokemon, such as Banette and Jellicent, which are immune to Zangoose's Normal- and Fighting-type moves. Quick Attack lets Zangoose hit other priority users and fare better against faster teams; however, Quick Attack can be forgone for Swords Dance if Zangoose needs to be able to do more damage against bulkier Pokemon. That being said, using Swords Dance can be a challenge due to how fragile Zangoose is.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs are used so that Zangoose can outspeed as many Pokemon as possible. A Jolly nature allows Zangoose to outspeed Pokemon such as Hitmonlee, Glalie before it Mega Evolves, and Tyrantrum; it also allows Zangoose to Speed tie with other base 90 Speed Pokemon. Adamant can still be used to increase Zangoose's damage output; however, Zangoose will be slower than threats such as Meloetta and Gallade. 252 Attack EVs let Zangoose deal as much damage as possible. Toxic Boost increases Zangoose's damage output by 1.5x when it is poisoned, and Toxic Orb inflicts Toxic poison on Zangoose, activating its ability and turning it into a fearsome wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========

Getting Zangoose poisoned should be your main priority, as Zangoose can barely do any damage before being poisoned. Remember that until Zangoose is poisoned, it must not get hit by Knock Off. Also, watch Zangoose's HP while it is on the field, as the chip damage from poison as well as damage from opposing attacks can wear it down quickly. A good way to activate Toxic Orb while keeping Zangoose healthy is to have a slower teammate take an attack and then use Volt Switch or U-turn to bring Zangoose in. Another way to activate Toxic Orb is for Zangoose to pick off a weakened Pokemon by using Quick Attack.

Team Options
========

Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Rhyperior can set up entry hazards, which can help Zangoose OHKO Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Bronzong, and Registeel. Jolteon, Flechinder, and other fast Pokemon work well with Zangoose and can help clean up the opposing team. Zangoose appreciates slow Volt Switch and U-turn users such as Magneton, Eelektross, defensive Flygon, and Uxie that can take damage and provide Zangoose with a free switch. Because Zangoose is quite frail, bulky Pokemon such as Mega Steelix and Rhyperior are great partners, as they can take hits if Zangoose needs to be switched out due to an unfavorable matchup, or if Zangoose needs to be saved and used later. Alomomola is also a useful partner, as its Wish support can greatly benefit Zangoose, letting it survive for longer. Pokemon that can KO or wall Spiritomb are much appreciated, including Houndoom and Fairy-types, such as Aromatisse.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Zangoose can run Protect to guarantee that Toxic Orb activates; however, by having Protect, Zangoose loses out on Quick Attack, rendering it useless against priority users. Zangoose can run Fire Punch for coverage against Grass-types, but the move usually isn't worth using over Zangoose's other attacks. Feint can also be used instead of Quick Attack to hit Protect users and faster priority users, but Feint doesn't do as much damage as Quick Attack. Endeavor can surprise a foe by instantly lowering its HP; however, either Facade or one of Zangoose's coverage moves should be able to do just as much damage, if not more.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Priority Users**:
Because Zangoose is very frail, Pokemon that have priority moves, such as Gale Wings Fletchinder, Hitmonlee, Gurdurr, and Sucker Punch users, such as Houndoom and Spiritomb, can deal lots of damage or even OHKO Zangoose.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon can easily take a hit and damage Zangoose in return such as Mega Steelix, Rhyperior, Tangrowth, and Alomomola; however, these Pokemon don't appreciate taking Close Combat or Facade. Cofagrigus can survive Knock Off and turn Zangoose's Toxic Boost into Mummy, significantly lowering its damage output.

**Residual Damage**: Pokemon that can set up entry hazards, such as Qwilfish and Accelgor, make it so that Zangoose loses even more health upon switching in, dwindling its longevity.

**Faster Pokemon**: Zangoose is very frail, so if there are faster attackers on the opposing team such as Jolteon, Flygon, and Sneasel, they can easily OHKO Zangoose. This also includes potential Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Emboar, Flygon, and Delphox.

**Spiritomb**: Spiritomb completely destroys Zangoose. Although Knock Off takes away about 55% of Spiritomb's health when it has an item, Spiritomb can 2HKO Zangoose with Foul Play. Calm Mind variants of Spiritomb can use Zangoose as setup fodder as well.

+Huge damage with Facade + Toxic Boost + Toxic Orb
+ Access to Close Combat + Knock Off
+ Quick Attack Priority
+ Zangoose is able to outspeed non-Jolly Flygon, Jolly Scrafty, and Gallade
- It is outsped by Durant, Virizion, and Houndoom which all pose a threat to it.
+/- decent speed
- shit for bulk.
- Normal typing doesn't resist anything; therefore, Zangoose can be easily Revenge KOed.
- gets KOed v easily due to poison damage

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Facade is Zangoose's main STAB move. Big damage when Zangoose is poisoned because of Toxic Boost + Facade boost
  • Knock Off is a move to get rid of the foe's item and to hit Ghost-types such as Banette, and Jellicent.
  • Low Kick is for Pokemon that resist Facade such as Rhyperior, and Mega Steelix.
  • Close Combat can be used over Low Kick for more consistent damage. Beware of the defense drops though.
  • Quick Attack is a staple for Zangoose, as it lets Zangoose hit other priority users hopefully for the KO. It also lets Zangoose fare better against quicker teams.
  • Swords Dance can be used instead of Quick Attack so that Zangoose can wallbreak more bulky Pokemon, or "stally-er" teams.

Set Details
========

  • Jolly + Max Speed is so Zangoose can outspeed as much as possible (so it can KO as much stuff b4 getting KOed itself). Jolly outspeeds Pokemon such as Hitmonlee, and Tyrantrum, and is able to speed tie Meloetta, and Gallade.
  • Adamant can be used to increase Zangoose's damage output; however, Zangoose would be slower than Meloetta and Gallade.
  • Max Attack is, of course, used for maximum damage output
  • Zangoose carries Toxic Orb so its Toxic Boost can start boosting

Usage Tips
========

  • Get Zangoose badly poisoned ASAP
  • Do as much damage as possible while Zangoose is on the field since Zangoose is on a very strict timer
  • Having a slow Volt Switch or U-turn user to take damage b4 Zangoose comes in is a good way to activate Toxic Orb
  • DO NOT let Toxic Orb get Knock Off-ed, or else Zangoose is fucked (damage output wise)
  • Zangoose can take advantage of activating its Toxic Orb by using Quick Attack to pick off weakened Pokemon.

Team Options
========
  • Hazard setters, such as Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Rhyperior, help Zangoose OHKO Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Bronzong, and Registeel more confidently. Furthermore, Zangoose is able to force many switches; therefore, the opposing team would take more hazard damage.
  • Pokemon that appreciate wallbreakers who can then, clean up after Zangoose has switched out such as Fletchinder, and Jolteon
  • Slow Volt Switch/U-turn users who can take damage b4 Zangoose comes in such as Magneton, Elektross, Uxie, and Defensive Flygon act as a pivot into Zangoose while keeping momentum
  • Bulky Pokemon to take hits if Zangoose needs to switch out due to an unfavorable matchup or if Zangoose needs to be used later and it can't OHKO the Pokemon in front of it. These include Alomomola, Mega Steelix, and Rhyperior. Alomomola's Wish support can greatly benefit Zangoose letting Zangoose live longer.
  • Zangoose can't do much damage to Spiritomb. Thus, Pokemon who can effectively KO/wall Spiritomb are appreciated such as Houndoom, and Fairy-types, such as Aromatisse.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Protect to guarantee Zangoose's safety (so Toxic Orb can activate)
  • Not much you can do with its ability and therefore, item.
  • Fire Punch for coverage, but not worth it.
  • Feint for Protect users + Priority users, but Feint really doesn't do that much damage. So Quick Attack is still better.
  • Endeavor?

not qc or anything but you prob should mention some shit that really troubles goose. The c&c is wayyy too nonspecific in regards to stuff; you should mention other stuff that gives it trouble too like Durant (which can eat up one hit then KO back, making it a great offensive check); the ability to live a hit from zangoose makes durant better than, say, Sigilyph at doing so. You just need to give more examples lol; stuff like rhyperior is a huge bitch to this as well as all the fastmons hanging around such as jolteon fletch prio etc. which just give this thing a hard time.

also what does jolly outspeed and why are you using it over adamant lol? again, not qc and sorry but this seems pretty nonspecific and you really need to beef up this analysis b4 qc

You forgot to add SD to moves as I suggested

  • Predicting switch ins and what moves your opponent is going to use is always useful. For example: having Zangoose (who is already badly poisoned) switch in against a T-wave. <-- remove this from tips
  • Switching Zangoose out could be a strategy one can use to minimize Poison damage; however, beware of hazards. <-- this too

  • Hazard removal mons so Zangoose doesn't get KOed even quicker <-- remove from team options I don't really find that Zangoose needs hazard removal
Mention that hazard setters are particularly good as teammates as Zangoose forces so many switches on top of its love of chip damage.

I don't think Meloetta is necessarily the right choice as a mon that benefits from Zangoose's wallbreaking, Zangoose can wear down stuff like Rhyperior and Mega Lix and Mola, so stuff that appreciates that gone like Fletchinder, or Jolteon or w/e are better choices here for cleaners.

One thing to remember with analyses is that sometimes less is better than more, putting in useless fluff is a bad thing and should be avoided, however thinking through specifics like what teammates actually make good options is very key to a good analysis. Not gonna approve this yet, make these changes and let me know.

[OVERVIEW]

Mention what Zangoose outspeeds in its speed tier and what it is outsped by.
Mention that alongside Zangoose's frailty, its typing also does not help it defensively whatsoever which leaves it to be very prone to being revenge killed.

[SET]

I wouldn't mind seeing an Adamant slash here just for more damage output considering this mon is kind of a hit-and-run wallbreaker and Jolly does not outspeed anything thats too important.
Obviously, mention the merits of using a Jolly nature too if players are particularly weak to Meloetta and Gallade and need to speedtie or outspeed them respectively.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Knock Off is a move to get rid of the foe's item and to hit Ghost-types.
  • Close Combat is for Pokemon who resist Facade.
Yeah, I'm gonna need examples on what Pokemon these moves can hit.
Actually, I would prefer Low Kick over Close Combat as what does CC hit that Low Kick does not hit harder. Scrafty dies to Low Kick + Facade while Tyrantrum and Rhyperior are OHKOed and 2HKOed by Low Kick and Durant is also 2HKOed by Facade. Low Kick also means that Zangoose is not forced out when it does not want to on a defensive mon that can take a hit with Facade after Zangoose has killed something with a CC for example. The few mons i can think of that are hit harder by CC as opposed to Low Kick or any other of Zangoose's coverage moves are like Klinklang and Audino, both of which take a lot from Facade and Low Kick. Move CC to moves imo if players would like consistent damage output.

Usage Tips
========

Mention how Zangoose can take advantage of activating its Toxic Orb by having the opportunity to pick off weakened Pokemon with Quick Attack

Team Options
========
  • Hazard setters, such as Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Rhyperior, help Zangoose OHKO more confidently. Furthermore, Zangoose is able to force many switches; therefore, the opposing team would take more hazard damage.
OHKO what exactly?
  • Slow Volt Switch/U-turn/Baton Pass users who can take damage b4 Zangoose comes in such as Magneton, Elektross, Meloetta, and Durant(I dun know too many viable BP users) act as a pivot into Zangoose while keeping momentum
Meloetta and Durant are not slow U-turn or BP users by any means, just replace them with Uxie and defensive Flygon

  • Bulky Pokemon to take hits if Zangoose needs to switch out due to an unfavorable matchup or if Zangoose needs to be used later and it can't OHKO the Pokemon in front of it. These include Alomomola, Mega Steelix, and Rhyperior.
Mention Alomomola's Wish support can help bring back a Zangoose that is low on health

Also mention partners that can also deal with Spiritomb since that gives Zangoose a lot of trouble.

Checks and Counters
===================

Make a mention of Gurdurr in priority and Sucker Punch from Houndoom and Spiritomb

**Hazard Stacking**: Pokemon who can set hazards such as Qwilfish, and Accelgor make it so that Zangoose loses even more health dwindling its longevity.

This is very generic, every Pokemon that are not immune to hazards are all going to lose health by them. Just replace it with Residual Damage alongside with Zangoose's Toxic Orb recoil itself.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**:

Make a mention of Cofagrigus that can take away Zangoose's ability while living a Knock Off

**Faster Pokemon**: Zangoose is very frail, so if there are faster attackers on the opposing team, such as Jolteon, Flygon, and Sneasel, they can easily OHKO Zangoose. This includes Choice Scarfed Pokemon.

Choiced Scarfed Pokemon such as?

Make a section dedicated to Spiriomb imo. Foul Play is able to 2HKO Zangoose while Calm Mind variants uses this thing as setup fodder.

Tag me once you're done and i'll hopefully stamp.

hi guys

Mention how Quick Attack makes Zangoose fare better against offensive teams

Adamant Glalie is basically non-existent so change it to something like Jolly Scrafty

What i meant was put only Low Kick in the third slot and mention CC in moves.

Doublade's not in RU anymore so don't mention it as a Knock Off target. Replace it with something like Jellicent.

Remove slow baton pass users as there aren't any in your examples of team options.

Make these changes and consider this QC 1/3.

[OVERVIEW]
Zangoose's base 90 Speed lets it outspeed Pokemon such as neutral-natured Flygon, Jolly Scrafty, and Gallade; however, Zangoose is outsped and threatened by the likes of Durant, Virizion, and Houndoom. What makes Zangoose special is its wallbreaking abilities ability.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs are used so that Zangoose can outspeed as many Pokemon as possible. A Jolly nature allows Zangoose to outspeed Pokemon such as Hitmonlee, Glalie before it Mega Evolves, and Tyrantrum; it also allows Zangoose to Speed tie with the likes of Meloetta and Gallade other base 90 Speed Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========
Getting Zangoose poisoned should be your number one main priority, as Zangoose can barely do any damage before being poisoned. Remember that until Zangoose is poisoned, do not let it must not get hit by Knock Off. Also, watch Zangoose's HP while it is on the field, as the chip damage from poison as well as damage from the foe opposing attacks can wear it down quickly.

========

These bulky Pokemon include Mega Steelix and Rhyperior. Alomomola is also a useful partner, as its Wish support can greatly benefit Zangoose, letting it survive for longer. Pokemon that can KO or wall Spiritomb are much appreciated, including Houndoom and Fairy-types, such as Aromatisse.

Other Options
=============

===================
**Priority Users**: Because Zangoose is very frail, Pokemon that have priority moves, such as Gale Wings Fletchinder, Hitmonlee, Gurdurr, and Sucker Punch users, such as Houndoom and Spiritomb, can deal lots of damage or even OHKO Zangoose.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon can easily take a hit and damage Zangoose in return, such as. Examples include Mega Steelix, Rhyperior, Tangrowth, and Alomomola; however, these Pokemon don't appreciate taking Close Combat or Facade. Cofagrigous can both survive Knock Off and turn Zangoose's Toxic Boost into Mummy, significantly lowering its damage output.

Should be everything.
