Hy :) I don't know when i made an account but this is the first time I am using it :)
Okay, So I am good at training and breeding for competitive pokemon, but I couldn't battle and win to save my life XD
I came here mainly for POkemon trading stuff. I also am very interested in SV stff
Hi Melody135!
How are you? I guess I'm the opposite of you: I'm decent at battling but I'm not great at training or breeding for competitive Pokemon. ;( I've recently started to take an interest in breeding for good Pokemon, but I absolutely cannot train. I usually just get my Pokemon to a high level and use sheer power to win in-game rather than well-trained stats. Visit the Wi-Fi section of the forums if you'd like to get involved with the trading community right here at Smogon. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me,
Chesty, or
Fluke. Have fun out here!
Hi guys, my name is Alexander, played pokemon casualy since gen 1 and I loved it ever since, but I only got the itch for the competitive scene a while ago, and I got to thank smogon and pokemon showdown for it :D
I'm looking foward to be a member of the comunity and playing it out with the rest of you guys and gals :D
Have a nice day, and good luck on your battles xD
Hello ArchDevil!
Welcome! I've been playing casually for a few years, starting with Emerald, but I'm only somewhat experienced in the competitive scene, having played competitively for a little more than a year, since the release of XY. I have one of my good friends to thank for getting me hooked to the Pokemon franchise. :) Are there any particular areas of Smogon you are interested in? Explore and find some subforums you like! Otherwise, check out the Smogon Simple Questions thread or the Simple Questions Simple Answers thread if you need help with anything. You can also send a PM to me or the users I tagged above if you'd like. Anyway, have a great time, and good luck to you, too!
Hi Smogon! I played Pokemon Red, Yellow & Gold when I was much younger but dropped off from handheld gaming for a while (read: pretty much of my highschool & uni), shifting over to PC gaming instead. However, I got myself a 3DS just over a month ago to travel with and I'm finding myself hooked to X, even with all the new Pokemon & mechanics I'm sure most people are much more familiar with.
As I mentioned, I became primarily a PC gamer for quite a bit (I still consider myself one...but I need a new desk so the 3DS will do for now :P). Over the last 4-5 years I became interested in games like Starcraft 2, League of Legends & Dota 2 which are brilliant fun on their own but also introduced me to the more competitive side of gaming. I love the way the Smogon community has approached this side of things with Pokemon despite some of the inherent 'flaws' critics may claim.
In terms of my own goals, I've no idea for now - I'm mostly focussing on seeing how far in Battle Maison Super Singles I can get & will try to build a team from there (might be a bad approach competitively but I'm hoping to get inspiration for a core at least from the Maison - currently loving lead Manectric).
Nice to meet you, wrathofanima!
How's it going? Yeah, education has hindered me from being able to go back and play the first two generations, but fortunately I managed to play the other four before it started getting tough. Y was a really enjoyable game for me, but to me, Emerald will always be the best. I guess I just love the region and the Pokemon in it. I'm mostly a console gamer, but I do find some PC games fun. My favorite console games include Call of Duty, Forza, and Halo (although I am HUGELY disappointed 343 Industries decided to remove split screen functionality in Halo 5 -_- ). However, Pokemon is what got me interested in the competitive aspect of these games, rather than the other way around. Don't worry if you don't have any goals yet; I created this account a while ago, but forgot about it for a while, and when I came back, I had no plans--I just went with the flow, I guess. Good evening, and it's a pleasure to meet everyone.
I only recently decided to get more involved with the various online Pokemon communities, now that my college schedule allows me more free time. For some background I've been playing Pokemon since Pokemon Yellow, and have followed every release ever since. Competitively I started breeding and battling in Pokemon Emerald, and I've been actively involved in both ever since.
I'm also somewhat of a PC gamer, mainly titles such as League of Legends, Guild Wars, and Guild Wars 2. I was co-leader of a large PvP oriented guild in both Guild Wars titles, and was relatively well known on my servers for PvP accomplishments. Nowadays I stick to League however, so if anyone is interested in playing GW with me with the release of their expansion, I've unfortunately retired.
My current focus in relation to Pokemon is growing as a competitive battler in general. As far as my style of playing goes, I prefer the challenge of specializing in one type and learning to cover your weakness and amplify the strength of that type. In short, Monotyping. I consider myself a Fairy specialist, as I've spent countless hours breeding all the Fairy Pokemon and using them competitively. Nowadays I use them in Wifi battles and of course our very own Pokemon Showdown, seeing how far up the ladder my Fairies can bring me.
For the sake of not writing an essay I will end by saying I'm glad to have the time to become involved in communities such as Smogon, instead of just using it as a source from time to time. I hope to not only help others with my experience and random knowledge, but hopefully learn more myself.
See you all around!
Hey Rose Buvelle!
I hope you're enjoying your stay! I got introduced to Pokemon Showdown a little more than a year ago, and though I had a lot more free time back then than I do now, I'm lucky I can still be active here. After getting pulled into the Pokemon franchise with Emerald, I continued with Ruby and Sapphire, and kind of jumped around the other generations, but I've played every generation save for the first two. At first, well, how to put this lightly, I was utter trash at battling. However, thanks to Showdown and Smogon, I've gotten a lot better. I don't play many PC games, but my friends keep telling me to play League of Legends, but I'm afraid if I start playing League, I won't be able to stop. Monotype has recently become one of my favorite tiers, and I agree, specializing in a type is a very fun way to battle. I'm best with the Bug type, as the versatility and variety of Bug types are very appealing to me. Pinsir-Mega and Genesect were the best parts of my team, but with the recent banning of Genesect in Monotype, I'm still trying to adapt. Welp, that's all I have to say. Use the threads I mentioned above if you have questions, and welcome to Smogon! Have a great time!
Hello friends I am new to this site and decided to go right to investigate and I like many Pokemon games and now this competitive in this generation because I like to learn to play in competitive tournaments and learn the rules well and all that well I think I'm in the right place greetings.
by the way I'm Mexican so sorry if my English is bad :) hahahahha
Welcome, Alexmay!
Nice to meet ya! I also started competitive battling this generation, albeit at the start. I usually play Monotype and Random Battles. What about you? What tiers do you like, if you don't mind me asking? Have you taken a look at the Tournaments room in Showdown? They host tournaments regularly there, and since you like competitive tournaments that might be the best place to start. :) Use the
Smogon Simple Questions thread if you need any questions answered during your time here. By the way, your English is a lot better than some native English speakers I know. ;) Have fun exploring the forums!
Hello guys ^^ im happy to meet you, i started playing pokemon since 4th gen but i never was interested on competitive until now, i tried to make a team by myself but its pretty difficult T.T
Right now i want to learn about making teams and how properly play not like i used to, i had a charizard with 4 fire atks on platinum xD but on this gen i tried to learn more so i dont have a charizard like that anymore...by the way i would like to get a tutor to improve my skills and learn more about this amazing game!
My favorite pokemon... Well i actually have 3 of them and they're: Charizard, Gardevoir and Lucario.
So yes i would love to play with you guys and look forward to be a great pokemon trainer with your help, thanks! :D
Greetings, LawMHG!
It's nice to meet you, too! When I first started with the 3rd Generation, I had no idea stats existed, let alone competitive Pokemon. If you're having trouble building teams, visit the Competitive Tutoring room in Pokemon Showdown to get some quick help with teambuilding. I agree, it is kind of hard to build by yourself. Teambuilding doesn't really matter all too much to me because I don't really care. I just want to have fun! c: So you'd like a tutor? Sign up for the Battling 101 Program as an apprentice and a tutor will help you improve your competitive battling skills. As for favorite Pokemon, mine are Lucario, Bisharp, and Genesect. I used to like Scizor a lot more than Genesect, but after a few weeks of battling Monotype, I got a lot more attached to Genesect. Well, I hope you enjoy your time here at the forums, and I'll see you around!
Well... hello.
I've followed the smogon ruleset for almost three years but I finally decided to make an account now.
I hope that I'll be able to contribute to this fun community now that I have an account.
Maybe I'll try to take pokes more seriously and actually participate in stuff.
Hiya Trimun!
Great you decided to join! Are there any specific areas of Smogon you'd like to contribute to? We've got Competitive Discussions, Wi-Fi battling and trading, Analyses, and more! I'm sure you'll find something that interests you. Smogon did cause me to take Pokemon a lot more seriously, and now I can finally call myself decent at battling, which is a lot more than I could say a year ago. ;o Don't hesitate to use the Simple Questions Simple Answers thread if you need help while you browse the forums and contribute, or the
Help form. The friendly users I tagged above will also be happy to help if you need it. Anyway, welcome to Smogon; have fun! n_n
