Also if you need me to write something or help write something I kinda like.. need to know what or something..

But I'll babble about my thoughts:

Anyways, the thing about Politoed is that it's shit, except for drizzle. Toed is 1/2 the reason that rain is kind of weak in the meta: it lacks damage, supporting potential, or good speed. What specs toed attempts to do is convert Politoed into both a weather setter and also make it have respectable damage. Since oftentimes rain makes your partner very threatening, having a slower, but still extremely strong-hitting toed set keeps the field a 2v2 rather than enabling your opponent to essentially ignore politoed. That said, specs toed still has some weaknesses, such as being choice-locked, lacking speed, and being relatively squishy.

As for movepool I'd suggest

Hydro
Ice Beam
2 of: scald, psychic, focus blast, hyper voice (nice for spread sash break but not much else really)

Scald is nice for guaranteed hits and still being able to fish for burns but generally hydro is usually the choice you go with. But, psychic and focus blast are used minimally (the first hits keldeo/venu-mega and the latter hits ferrothorn/kyube) enough that having a move that eliminates a 20% chance to swing the game way in your opponent's favor can be nice.

As for usage tips remember that you're almost always clicking hydro unless another move has 4x effectiveness compared to hydro or you lose rain, or you're trying to cover both the mon in front of you and a possible switchin (aka your opponent has kang out, but has ferro in the back which you think might switchin on your specs). This means that you want to hydro a rotom-wash, not use focus blast, because hydro will do more damage thanks to 2.25 comparative effectiveness due to stab and rain

It should just be Quiet 0 IVs imo (you'll outspeed everyone on an opposing TR team either way and underspeed all other normal mons). That lets you at least be slower than Cresselia, which can be nice. Without going 0 IV quiet you can also get outrun by stuff like specs rotom-w in TR which is not fun either.

Then in Set Comments mention a speedier spread to outrun 0 spe Togekiss or something. This needs 84 Spe Modest. And/or a speed benchmark that's good for a team with Tailwind (112 Modest outruns Adamant Scarf Lando-T)

I don't think there's a huge point to 0 spe Modest.

Thoughts from other QC?

Also you missed one skymin mention, plz remove. Can't use as a teammate anymore :[

Agreeing that Quiet 0 Spe IVs should be the main slash, with both 84 Spe and 112 Spe Modest in set comments. In Usage Tips you mentioned that Hydro Pump is the go-to move two sentences in a row, so uh, just fix that. And lastly, emphasize that this set appreciates having a secondary setter a lot more than the bulky one in Team Options.

Looks fine to me aside from some minor grammar issues, tagging Bughouse to see if he wants to add anything. Consider this a 3/3 when you finish doing any changes he might have, if there are any of course.

there's value to not going minspeed, such as outspeeding those middling speed tiers such as azumarill or tr mons out of trick room, it really depends on what you want. Also sylveon and aegis outspeeds, along with ttar can be nice.

youll still outrun sylveon and aegislash since they should also be 0 quiet

And no I have nothing to add. 3/3 as Shane said

sylveon and aegislash are definitely not 100% quiet.

Aegis often creeps as far as 175+, or runs neutral with some speed evs (see flan's set)

sylveon is almost never minspeed quiet unless it's a tr sylveon

well, there are still faster sets in the set comments so if those are an issue you can just pick one of the modest spreads. Melo mark this down as 3/3 so we can send it to GP.

yes but if it runs speed evs (80 at minimum on a tailwind team, usually more) it outruns 0 speed modest politoed anyway lol. and analyses are NOT about doing creep for other sets that use speed investment beyond 0 or 252.

Overview
########
[OVERVIEW]

Politoed's resistance to Fire and the ability to induce rain makes it able allow it to switch into Heat Waves from Heatrans or Charizards Heatran or Charizard, and that is basically the only edge that Rain has over sand or sun: (colon) the typing advantage. Politoed is mostly viable as a bulky rain setter, with as its 90 / 75 / 100 (add spaces) defenses. Due to these stats it can live allow it to survive many hits and the nice access rain's power boost to Scald makes Politoed a pretty good physical wall, because you can lets Politoed fully invest EVs on your into its defenses because the rain makes your Scald powerful enough already without losing out on too much power. (make sure content is still sound please) Outside of being bulky and having Drizzle, it usually fits no other role than supporting usually. A big downside to Politoed is the fact that it is deadweight in a lot of matchups. Rain teams are always hyper offensive, (AC) and Politoed does not fit the role mold of a hyper offense Pokemon. Even though it is a viable support Pokemon with Helping Hand and Encore, it doesn't offer offensive pressure as like Ludicolo or and Mega Swampert (remove hyphen) do. Rain struggles to match the power of many other weather archetypes, which have an easier time maintaining momentum because of the offensive pressure setters like Mega Charizard Y and Tyranitar can impose on the field. Politoed itself, however, even struggles to match the utility or power of other Water-types like such as Rotom-Wash or the power of other Water-types like and Keldeo, respectively. Additionally, Politoed gets beaten by the numerous Electric- and Grass-types in the metagame such as Rotom-Wash Rotom-W and Ferrothorn, while and Water- and Grass-types take advantage of Politoed too, because Politoed can not hit cannot threaten them. However, (AC) although Water-, Electric-, (AC) and Grass-types beat it, they absolutely hate to switch in into Politoed, because rain-boosted (add hyphen) Scald is a powerful move which burns fairly quickly with a high burn chance. This is especially annoying for Pokemon like Amoonguss and Ferrothorn. While Politoed is a decent support Pokemon, you it can also fit it on teams with run a Choice Specs set which that can deal tons of damage, even though you'll trade all your its utility away for it. Choice Specs Politoed tries to convert Politoed into both a weather setter and also make it have respectable damage a respectable attacker. Since often times Rain Because rain often makes your Politoed's partner very threatening, having a slower (RC) but still really strong-hitting hard-hitting Politoed sets the field to a 2v2 two-on-two rather than allowing your opponent to essentially ignore Politoed. That said, Choice Specs Politoed has its strengths but also its weaknesses, being choice-locked unable to switch moves, (less repetitive) lacking Speed, (AC; serial comma) and having a lower amount of bulk.

Moves
========
Scald provides Politoed with a reliable STAB attack, which that has a chance to cripple and burn threats such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Metagross, (remove hyphens) which otherwise could be threatening for your team. Icy Wind is a spread move that drops the opponents foe's Speed by 1 one stage. It's a move that is mainly used to support, (AC) but it does a decent amount of damage to Landorus-Therian Landorus-T and Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latios. Helping Hand works well with attacking offensive partners, Swift Swim sweepers in particular, by boosting their damage output and letting them get key KOs. Encore instead of Helping Hand is a viable choice too, (comma) Encore is a good way for locking allowing Politoed to foes into non-threatening moves such as Protect, Substitute, (AC) and Fake Out. Lastly, (AC) we have Protect which is a crucial move in the Doubles metagame. Protect does a number of things, including letting lets Politoed scout, stalling stall out field conditions, allowing the foes rack up chip and status damage accumulate, and avoid taking an otherwise deadly attack.

Set Details
========
Going with a A standard 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD EV spread with a Bold nature allows you Politoed to tank as much many physical hits as possible, as well as getting significantly bulkier boosting its overall bulk. The Bold nature makes you tank even more physical hits. You can choose between Sitrus Berry and Damp Rock for your Politoed's item. Using a Sitrus Berry allows you Politoed to live longer, (AC) while Damp Rock allows you Politoed to support even more with its team even better by offering more turns of Drizzle rain. Drizzle is the only ability you should use on Politoed, because the rest of the abilities are not useful, especially not for a Pokemon such as Politoed who is incredibly limited, and without Drizzle Politoed becomes extremely useless. You can use 0 Speed IVs on Politoed so you it can Encore Trick Room setters such as Cresselia and Chandelure into Trick Room. (don't really see the causal link here honestly)

Usage Tips
========
Politoed can use Drizzle to cancel other weather such as sun and or sand out. You could pair this with a Damp Rock to extend the natural length duration of rain. Politoed is especially a great switch-in to Mega Charizard Y, (AC, remove hyphens) as it removes the sun from Drought and it forces Charizard to switch Charizard out, as it doesn't want to take a with the threat of Scald. You'll still have to be careful because if Charizard catches you with switches back in while Politoed is still on the field, (AC) you are in trouble until rain is up again. It is important to note that to support your its teammates as long as possible, (AC) you have Politoed has to stay alive for as long as possible to keep rain up.
Use Encore to lock your opponents in in foes into support moves or other harmless moves. Use Helping Hand for a power boost if and only if the power boost is significant. If you use a Pokemon with a sleeping move on your team, be careful with using Scald, (comma) as Scald burns a lot so it might burn an enemy that you would rather put to sleep.

Team Options
========
Obviously Swift Swimmers Swim Pokemon work well with Politoed, because their Speed gets doubled by Drizzle. Ludicolo, Kingdra, (AC) and Mega Swampert (remove hyphen) are the best Pokemon to fulfill this role. Even though Mega Charizard Y (remove hyphens) doesn't like to be up versus Politoed, a fast and strong Electric-type is often beneficial to get rid of Mega-Charizard-Y it. Good Pokemon to fulfill this role are Thundurus-Incarnate, Raikou, (AC) and Thundurus-Therian. They are also used for their damage output Their offensive presence with moves such as a perfectly accurate Thunder, which has perfect accuracy in rain, for checking also allows them to check other things than only Charizard. Electric-types give a fast and non-rain reliant, fast and a powerful way to beat Charizard when necessary. (pretty much said this already) The only downside to Electric-types are is that they have a lot of trouble switching in directly. Bulky Steel-types such as Mega Metagross, Mega Mawile, (AC, remove hyphens) and Scizor are used to resist Dragon- (add hyphen) and Fairy-type attacks (RC) and the fact that benefit from the rain removing their Fire weakness gets removed is just the icing on the cake. Having a steel Steel-type on your team also grants the ability helps to check Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B, which is a Pokemon often used for beating rain teams. Be aware, however, as Kyurem-Black still hits really hard with Earth Power and Steels Steel-types have trouble switching in directly into Kyurem-Black. Having a Pokemon that can support Politoed to live longer such as Landorus-Therian is beneficial, but also other Intimidate users Intimidate support from the likes of Landorus-T (assuming the whole point of this bit is indeed Intimidate support) can help Politoed to live longer. Teammates that can check opposing Electric- and Grass-types such as Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B and Hydreigon also work really well because they can soak up attacks aimed at Politoed. Other strong Flying-types such as Talonflame are and Togekiss are very useful for clearing cleaning up bulkier Grass Pokemon. Fast Dragon-types such as Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B, Hydreigon, Latios, (AC) and Garchomp to an extent are good picks to beat sun teams and opposing rain teams which is very useful. Lastly, you could add Fire-types to your team. Even though they seem this seems counterintuitive, they are great on rain teams because they check Grass-types and are even stronger when rain faces sun. Talonflame is a prime example, but Heatran is a good example option too. Fairies such as Mega Gardevoir and Mega Diancie (remove hyphens) are strong good picks because they can beat Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B, (AC) which is normally a threat to rain in general. Mega Diancie (remove hyphen) also beats Thundurus and Mega Charizard Y, (remove hyphens) which both of which are too big threats for to rain too.

Moves

Hydro Pump is a strong STAB attack that deals a lot of damage and is usually the Politoed's go-to move you go with due to its high power and STAB boost. Even though it has somewhat shaky accuracy, (AC) it deals tons of damage to opponents who foes that don't expect it, and having a Choice Specs-boosted Hydro Pump makes it difficult for your opponent opposing Pokemon to just switch into Politoed. Use Scald when you don't want to risk a miss; (SC) Scald it is also a nice move for crippling physical attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Metagross, (remove hyphens) dealing tons of damage to them and possibly even burning them. Ice Beam is a strong move that deals tons of damage to Grass-types such as Amoonguss and non-Mega Venusaur, Ground-types such as Landorus-Therian Landorus-T, Flying-types such as Thundurus, (AC) and Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latios. As for your For the fourth moveslot, (AC) you can decide between either Focus Blast, (AC) which hits a few quite notable threats to rain teams in Ferrothorn and Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B, both which are quite notable threats to Rain, while and Psychic, (AC) which hits Keldeo and Mega Venusaur (remove hyphen) super effectively.

Set Details
========
Going with A 252 hp / 252 spa / 4 def HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA EV spread allows you Politoed to do a lot of damage as well as investing in and increases its bulk significantly. You use a Quiet nature, considering you'll outspeed everyone on an opposing Trick Room team anyway and underspeed all other normal Pokemons. A Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs you allows Politoed to check Trick Room easier more easily, (AC) and most opposing non-Trick Room Pokemon would outspeed Politoed anyway; notably, (AC) and it lets you be it makes Politoed slower than Cresselia, which can be nice. You Politoed generally should not use Speed EVs to be more speedy, as you are it is unlikely going to benefit from that; (SC) however, 84 Speed EVs with a Modest nature allow Politoed to outspeed uninvested Togekiss, and 112 Speed EVs with a Modest nature allow Politoed to outspeed Adamant Choice Scarf (I assume?) Landorus-T under Tailwind. Obviously you're going to use Choice Specs to maximize your maximizes Politoed's damage output, (comma) and Drizzle still stays is the only ability to use on Politoed because the other two abilities don't offer anything while Drizzle significantly boosts Politoed's power. If you use 84 speed EVs with a Modest Nature you will be able to outspeed a Togekiss with 0 speed EVs. Using 112 speed EVs with a Modest nature outspeeds Adamant Landorus-Therian when you have Tailwind.

Usage Tips
========
Drizzle boosts your Politoed's Water-moves Hydro Pump and Scald STAB moves even more. Usually Hydro Pump is the best move to use, (AC) at all items unless your opponent a foe is a 4x weak to one of your Politoed's other moves. Be aware for wary of opposing sun teams, (AC) though, as even though Politoed with Choice Specs is still fairly strong thanks to Choice Specs, they'll remove a lot of damage from you drastically cut its damage output.

Team Options
========
Considering you are focused this set focuses on dealing damage instead of supporting with rain with this set providing rain support, having a second rain setter is appreciated; (SC) such as examples include Rain Dance Kingdra, Rain Dance Thundurus, (AC) or and Rain Dance Tornadus. Even though you are usually way less rain reliant (idt this is really the nuance you're looking for, shouldn't this be "even though you usually cannot afford to be as rain reliant" or something?) while when using Choice Specs Politoed, you can still use Swift Swimmers effectively, mainly being Ludicolo, Kingdra and Mega Swampert. (remove hyphen) Due to Politoeds low Speed, (AC) it is a compatible Pokemon to use fits well on Trick Room. Some decent Trick Room setters are Slowbro and Jellicent because Drizzle's rain boosts their Water-type moves will be stronger too; (SC) however, (AC) they will stack weaknesses with Politoed. Some others Other viable setters are Gourgeist-Super Gourgeist-XL, (AC) because it's its Fire weakness is removed in rain, (AC) and Chandelure, (AC) because rain teams often likes like having a Fire-type on the team to take care of Grass-types that wall can easily take Politoed's strong Hydro Pump. Good Trick Room attackers are Fairy-types such as Mega Mawile, (remove hyphen) Sylveon, (AC) and Azumarill because they are able to get rid of Dragon-types such as Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B, Latios, (AC) and Hydreigon. Escavalier is a good Pokemon too because with its Bug-typed moves it can take care of Grass-types, (AC) such as opposing Ludicolo and Venusaur, and Ice-types, mainly notably being able to take out Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B with Iron Head. If you want another Steel-type, (AC) you could also use Mega Scizor. (remove hyphen) An Electric-type such as Mega Ampharos is also appreciated, because it gets rid of other Water-types. A good example for this is Mega-Ampharos. If you are not using Trick Room, you could still use Talonflame or Heatran to get rid of opposing Grass- and Steel-types that wall Politoed. Ludicolo is the most effective Swift Swimmer Swim Pokemon because it beats other Water-types that try to soak up Hydro Pumps, but also other Grass-types such as Venusaur and Serperior, while they are less useful, can still be put on the team. Fairy-types such as Mega Gardevoir and Mega Diancie (remove hyphen) can get rid of Kyurem-Black who Kyurem-B, (AC) which walls rain teams. Mega-Diancie also gets rid of other Flying-types but also some of in addition to some Electric-types who that are dangerous to Politoed, such as Thundurus and Zapdos. And Finally, you can use your own Dragon-types such as Latios, Hydreigon, (AC) and Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B to get rid of other Dragon-types and to beat Sun, what which negates a lot of Politoed's (apostrophe) damage. Kyurem-Black Kyurem-B in particular also (unless Thundurus and Zapdos are sun stapels, then it's fine as is) has a strong Ice-type attack that gets to get rid of Zapdos and Thundurus.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
########
========

Perish Song can be used to force notable threats out, as well as force more bulky threats such as Cresselia out. If you are using the Choice Specs set, (AC) you can also use Hyper Voice, which is a spread move that as a spread move to breaks Focus Sashes, (AC) but it is usually less effective than other moves.
Another set you could use is a Choice Scarf set. It is significantly less bulky due to your EVs having to be invested in requiring full Speed and Special Attack investment, but you will be able to catch opponents off guard by surprising them with this set. Note that this set is more for teams that aren't reliant on rain (RC) and is usually less effective.

Checks & Counters
########

Checks and Counters
======== (add colons and remove line breaks after each header)

**Opposing Weather**: Because sun halves Water-type attacks' (apostrophe) have halved Base Power when Sun is up, (comma) avoid Scalding using Scald on opposing Mega Charizard Ys (remove hyphens) or other Fire-typed Pokemon when sun is up. The pair of Mega Charizard Y (RC, remove hyphens) together with and Venusaur is able to use Grass-type moves on you Politoed, (comma) and Politoed does no hardly any damage while sun is up, at least not much. (this is a bit at odds with the "don't use Scald on Fire-types in sun" bit earlier, so you should probably merge/rewrite those bits a little) Hail can also be fairly annoying because Abomasnow resists Politoed's attacks and can do a ton of damage with his its Grass-type moves in return.

**Typing Advantage**: Electric- and Grass-types such as Thundurus, Rotom-W, (AC) Ferrothorn, Rotom-Wash and Amoonguss are all major threats for to Politoed. Thundurus has the ability to 2HKO Politoed with Thunderbolt, and Amoonguss doesn't care about Politoed, even if it's Encored.

**Strong Attackers**: Politoed still has trouble with strong attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Gardevoir, (AC, add hypens) and Hydreigon, (AC) that which can all take it out with strong attacks.

Moves
========
Hydro Pump is usually Politoed's go-to move due to its high power and STAB boost. Even though it has somewhat shaky accuracy, it deals tons of damage to foes that don't expect it, and having a Choice Specs-boosted Hydro Pump makes it difficult for opposing Pokemon to just switch into Politoed. Use Scald when you don't want to risk a miss; it is also a nice move for crippling physical attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Metagross, dealing tons of damage to them and possibly even burning them. Ice Beam deals tons of damage to Grass-types such as Amoonguss and non-Mega Venusaur, Ground-types such as Landorus-T, Flying-types such as Thundurus, and Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latios. For the fourth moveslot, you can decide between Focus Blast, which hits a few quite notable threats to rain teams in Ferrothorn and Kyurem-B, and Psychic, which hits Keldeo and Mega Venusaur super effectively.

Set Details
========
A 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA EV spread allows Politoed to do a lot of damage and increases its bulk significantly. A Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs allows Politoed to check Trick Room more easily, and most opposing non-Trick Room Pokemon would outspeed Politoed anyway; notably, it makes Politoed slower than Cresselia, which can be nice. Politoed generally should not use Speed EVs, as it is unlikely to benefit from that; however, 84 Speed EVs with a Modest nature allow Politoed to outspeed uninvested Togekiss, and 112 Speed EVs with a Modest nature allow Politoed to outspeed Adamant Choice Scarf Landorus-T under Tailwind. Choice Specs maximizes Politoed's damage output, and Drizzle is the only ability to use on Politoed because the other two abilities don't offer anything while Drizzle significantly boosts Politoed's power.

Usage Tips
========
Drizzle boosts Politoed's STAB moves even more. Usually Hydro Pump is the best move to use, unless a foe is 4x weak to one of Politoed's other moves. Be wary of opposing sun teams, though, as even though Politoed is still fairly strong thanks to Choice Specs, they'll drastically cut its damage output.

Team Options
========
Considering this set focuses on dealing damage instead of providing rain support, having a second rain setter is appreciated; examples include Rain Dance Kingdra, Rain Dance Thundurus, and Rain Dance Tornadus. Even though you are usually way less rain reliant when using Choice Specs Politoed, you can still use Swift Swimmers effectively, mainly Ludicolo, Kingdra and Mega Swampert. Due to Politoeds low Speed, it fits well on Trick Room. Some decent Trick Room setters are Slowbro and Jellicent because Drizzle's rain boosts their Water-type moves too; however, they will stack weaknesses with Politoed. Other viable setters are Gourgeist-XL, because its Fire weakness is removed in rain, and Chandelure, because rain teams often like having a Fire-type to take care of Grass-types that can easily take Politoed's strong Hydro Pump. Good Trick Room attackers are Fairy-types such as Mega Mawile, Sylveon, and Azumarill because they are able to get rid of Dragon-types such as Kyurem-B, Latios, and Hydreigon. Escavalier is a good Pokemon too because it can take care of Grass-types, such as opposing Ludicolo and Venusaur, and Ice-types, notably being able to take out Kyurem-B with Iron Head. If you want another Steel-type, you could also use Mega Scizor. An Electric-type such as Mega Ampharos is also appreciated, because it gets rid of other Water-types. If you are not using Trick Room, you could still use Talonflame or Heatran to get rid of opposing Grass- and Steel-types that wall Politoed. Ludicolo is the most effective Swift Swim Pokemon because it beats other Water-types that try to soak up Hydro Pumps, but other Grass-types such as Venusaur and Serperior, while they are less useful, can still be put on the team. Fairy-types such as Mega Gardevoir and Mega Diancie can get rid of Kyurem-B, which walls rain teams. Mega-Diancie also gets rid of other Flying-types in addition to some Electric-types that are dangerous to Politoed, such as Thundurus and Zapdos. Finally, you can use your own Dragon-types such as Latios, Hydreigon,and Kyurem-B to get rid of other Dragon-types and to beat Sun, which negates a lot of Politoed's damage. Kyurem-B also has a strong Ice-type attack to get rid of Zapdos and Thundurus.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========
Perish Song can be used to force notable threats out, as well as more bulky threats such as Cresselia. If you are using the Choice Specs set, you can also use Hyper Voice as a spread move to breaks Focus Sashes, but it is usually less effective than other moves. Another set you could use is a Choice Scarf set. It is significantly less bulky due to requiring full Speed and Special Attack investment, but you will be able to catch opponents off guard by surprising them with this set. Note that this set is more for teams that aren't reliant on rain and is usually less effective.

Checks and Counters
========
**Opposing Weather**: Because sun halves Water-type attacks' Base Power avoid using Scald on opposing Mega Charizard Ys or other Fire-type Pokemon when sun is up. The pair of Mega Charizard Y and Venusaur is able to use Grass-type moves on Politoed, and Politoed does hardly any damage while sun is up. Hail can also be fairly annoying because Abomasnow resists Politoed's attacks and can do a ton of damage with its Grass-type moves in return.

**Typing Advantage**: Electric- and Grass-types such as Thundurus, Rotom-W, Ferrothorn, and Amoonguss are all major threats to Politoed. Thundurus has the ability to 2HKO Politoed with Thunderbolt, and Amoonguss doesn't care about Politoed, even if it's Encored.

**Strong Attackers**: Politoed still has trouble with strong attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Gardevoir, and Hydreigon, which can all take it out with strong attacks.
In the future, try and get these does quickly.

Meloettaa, since it's been a week and you haven't done this, I went ahead and made this c/p for you
[OVERVIEW]
Politoed's resistance to Fire and ability to induce rain allow it to switch into Heat Waves from Heatran or Charizard, and that is basically the only edge that Rain has over sand or sun: the typing advantage. Politoed is mostly viable as a bulky rain setter, as its 90 / 75 / 100 defenses allow it to survive many hits and rain's power boost to Scald lets Politoed fully invest EVs into its defenses without losing out on too much power. Outside of being bulky and having Drizzle, it usually fits no other role than supporting. A big downside to Politoed is the fact that it is deadweight in a lot of matchups. Rain teams are always hyper offensive, and Politoed does not fit the mold of a hyper offense Pokemon. Even though it is a viable support Pokemon with Helping Hand and Encore, it doesn't offer offensive pressure like Ludicolo and Mega Swampert do. Rain struggles to match the power of many other weather archetypes, which have an easier time maintaining momentum because of the offensive pressure setters like Mega Charizard Y and Tyranitar can impose on the field. Politoed itself, however, struggles to match the utility or power of other Water-types such as Rotom-W and Keldeo, respectively. Additionally, Politoed gets beaten by the numerous Electric- and Grass-types in the metagame such as Rotom-W and Ferrothorn, and Water- and Grass-types take advantage of Politoed too, because Politoed cannot threaten them. However, although Water-, Electric-, and Grass-types beat it, they absolutely hate to switch into Politoed, because rain-boosted Scald is a powerful move with a high burn chance. This is especially annoying for Pokemon like Amoonguss and Ferrothorn. While Politoed is a decent support Pokemon, it can also run a Choice Specs set that can deal tons of damage, even though you'll trade all its utility away for it. Choice Specs Politoed tries to convert Politoed into both a weather setter and a respectable attacker. Because rain often makes Politoed's partner very threatening, having a slower but still really hard-hitting Politoed sets the field to a two-on-two rather than allowing your opponent to essentially ignore Politoed. That said, Choice Specs Politoed has its strengths but also its weaknesses, being unable to switch moves, lacking Speed, and having a lower amount of bulk.

Moves

Scald provides Politoed with a reliable STAB attack that has a chance to cripple and burn threats such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Metagross, which otherwise could be threatening for your team. Icy Wind is a spread move that drops the foe's Speed by one stage. It's a move that is mainly used to support, but it does a decent amount of damage to Landorus-T and Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latios. Helping Hand works well with offensive partners, Swift Swim sweepers in particular, by boosting their damage output and letting them get key KOs. Encore instead of Helping Hand is a viable choice too, allowing Politoed to foes into non-threatening moves such as Protect, Substitute, and Fake Out. Lastly, Protect lets Politoed scout, stall out field conditions, rack up chip and status damage, and avoid taking an otherwise deadly attack.

Set Details
========
A standard 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD EV spread with a Bold nature allows Politoed to tank as many physical hits as possible, as well as significantly boosting its overall bulk. You can choose between Sitrus Berry and Damp Rock for Politoed's item. Using a Sitrus Berry allows Politoed to live longer, while Damp Rock allows Politoed to support its team even better by offering more turns of rain. Drizzle is the only ability you should use on Politoed, because the rest of the abilities are not useful. You can use 0 Speed IVs on Politoed so it can Encore Trick Room setters such as Cresselia and Chandelure into Trick Room.

Usage Tips
========
Politoed can use Drizzle to cancel other weather such as sun or sand out. You could pair this with a Damp Rock to extend the duration of rain. Politoed is especially a great switch-in to Mega Charizard Y, as it removes the sun from Drought and forces Charizard to switch out, with the threat of Scald. You'll still have to be careful because if Charizard switches back in while Politoed is still on the field, you are in trouble until rain is up again. It is important to note that to support its teammates as long as possible, Politoed has to stay alive for as long as possible to keep rain up.
Use Encore to lock foes into support moves or other harmless moves. Use Helping Hand for a power boost only if the power boost is significant. If you use a Pokemon with a sleeping move on your team, be careful with using Scald, as it might burn an enemy that you would rather put to sleep.

Team Options
========
Swift Swim Pokemon work well with Politoed, because their Speed gets doubled by Drizzle. Ludicolo, Kingdra, and Mega Swampert are the best Pokemon to fulfill this role. Even though Mega Charizard Y doesn't like to be up versus Politoed, a fast and strong Electric-type is often beneficial to get rid of it. Good Pokemon to fulfill this role are Thundurus, Raikou, and Thundurus-T. Their offensive presence with moves such as a perfectly accurate Thunder allows them to check other things than only Charizard. The only downside to Electric-types is that they have a lot of trouble switching in directly. Bulky Steel-types such as Mega Metagross, Mega Mawile, and Scizor resist Dragon- and Fairy-type attacks and benefit from the rain removing their Fire weakness. Having a Steel-type on your team also helps to check Kyurem-B, which is often used for beating rain teams. Be aware,however, as Kyurem-B still hits really hard with Earth Power and Steel-types have trouble switching in directly. Intimidate support from the likes of Landorus-T can help Politoed to live longer. Teammates that can check opposing Electric- and Grass-types such as Kyurem-B and Hydreigon also work really well because they can soak up attacks aimed at Politoed. Other strong Flying-types such as Talonflame and Togekiss are very useful for cleaning up bulkier Grass Pokemon. Fast Dragon-types such as Kyurem-B, Hydreigon, Latios, and Garchomp to an extent are good picks to beat sun teams and opposing rain teams. Lastly, you could add Fire-types to your team. Even though this seems counterintuitive, they are great on rain teams because they check Grass-types and are even stronger when rain faces sun. Talonflame is a prime example, but Heatran is a good option too. Fairies such as Mega Gardevoir and Mega Diancie are good picks because they can beat Kyurem-B, which is normally a threat to rain in general. Mega Diancie also beats Thundurus and Mega Charizard Y, both of which are big threats to rain too.

Ludicolo is the most effective best Swift Swim Pokemon sweeper alongside Politoed because it beats other Water-types that try to soak up Hydro Pumps, but other Grass-types such as Venusaur and Serperior, while they are less useful, can still be put on the team, though they are less useful.

Perish Song can be used to force notable threats out, as well as more especially bulky threats such as Cresselia. If you are using the Choice Specs set, you can also use Hyper Voice as a spread move to breaks Focus Sashes, but it is usually less effective than other moves. Another set you could use is a Choice Scarf set. It is significantly less bulky due to requiring Choice Scarf can also be used; although it requires full Speed and Special Attack investment, but you Politoed will be able to catch opponents off guard by surprising them with this set. Note that this set is more better suited for teams that aren't reliant on rain and is usually less effective than Politoed's other sets.

Checks and Counters
========
**Opposing Weather**: Because sun halves Water-type attacks' the Base Power of Water-type attacks, avoid using Scald on opposing Mega Charizard Ys or other Fire-type Pokemon when sun is up. The pair of Mega Charizard Y and Venusaur is able to use Grass-type moves on Politoed, and Politoed does hardly any damage while sun is up. Hail can also be fairly annoying because (Mega?) Abomasnow resists Politoed's attacks and can do a ton of damage with its Grass-type moves in return.

**Typing Advantage**: Electric- and Grass-types such as Thundurus, Rotom-W, Ferrothorn, and Amoonguss are all major threats to Politoed. Thundurus has the ability to 2HKO Politoed with Thunderbolt, and Amoonguss doesn't care about Politoed, even if it's Politoed locks it with Encored.

**Strong Attackers**: Politoed still has trouble with strong attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Gardevoir, and Hydreigon, which can all take it out with strong attacks their sheer power.

Meloettaaa, this will need a third check, so I apologize for any inconveniences.

[OVERVIEW]
Politoed's resistance to Fire and ability to induce rain allow it to switch into Heat Wave from Heatran and Mega Charizard Y, which is basically the only edge that rain has over sand and sun: the typing advantage. Politoed is mostly viable as a bulky rain setter, as its 90 / 75 / 100 defenses bulk allows it to survive many hits, and rain's power boost to Scald lets Politoed fully invest EVs into its defenses without losing out on too much power. Outside of being bulky and having Drizzle, it usually fits no other role than supporting. A big downside to Politoed is the fact that it is dead weight in a lot of matchups. Rain teams are always hyper offense, and Politoed does not fit the mold of a hyper offense Pokemon. Even though it is a viable support Pokemon with Helping Hand and Encore, it doesn't offer offensive pressure like Ludicolo and Mega Swampert do. Rain struggles to match the power of many other weather archetypes, which have an easier time maintaining momentum because of the offensive pressure that Mega Charizard Y and Tyranitar can impose on the field. Politf, hoed itselowever, struggles to match the utility or power of other Water-types such as Rotom-W and Keldeo, respectively. Additionally, Politoed gets beaten by the numerous Electric- and Grass-types in the metagame such as Rotom-W and Ferrothorn, and Water- and Grass-types can take advantage of Politoed as well because it cannot threaten them. However, although Water-, Electric-, and Grass-types beat it, they absolutely hate switching into Politoed because rain-boosted Scald is a powerful move with a high burn chance. This is especially annoying for Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Ferrothorn because being burned means they will not be able to keep their utility during the game, as well as Ferrothorn losing out on damage. While Politoed is a decent support Pokemon, it can also run a Choice Specs set that can deal tons of damage, even though you'll trade all its utility away for it. Choice Specs Politoed essentially converts Politoed into both a weather setter and a respectable attacker. Because rain often makes Politoed's partner very threatening, having a slower but still hard-hitting Politoed creates a two-on-two situation rather than allowing your opponent to essentially ignore Politoed. That said, Choice Specs Politoed has its strengths but also its weaknesses, such as being unable to switch moves, lacking Speed, and having less bulk.

Moves
========
Scald provides Politoed with a reliable STAB attack that has a chance to cripple and burn threats such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Metagross, which otherwise could be threatening for your team. Icy Wind is a spread move that drops the foes' Speed by one stage. It's mainly used to support the team, but it does a decent amount of damage to Landorus-T and Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latios. Helping Hand works well with offensive partners, especially Swift Swim sweepers, by boosting their damage output and letting them get key KOs. Encore is an alternative too, allowing Politoed to lock foes into non-threatening moves such as Protect, Substitute, and Fake Out. Protect lets Politoed scout, stall out field conditions, rack up chip and burn damage, and avoid taking an otherwise deadly attack.

Set Details
========
A standard 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD EV spread with a Bold nature allows Politoed to tank as many physical hits as possible, (RC) and significantly boosts its overall bulk. Sitrus Berry allows Politoed to survive for longer, while Damp Rock allows Politoed to support its team even better by offering more turns of rain. Drizzle immediately sets up rain as Politoed switches in, which is the only reason to use Politoed. You can use 0 Speed IVs on Politoed so that it can lock Trick Room setters such as Cresselia and Chandelure into Trick Room with Encore.

Usage Tips
========
Politoed can use Drizzle to cancel other weather conditions such as sun and sand. Politoed is especially a great switch-in to Mega Charizard Y, as it removes the sun from Drought and forces Mega Charizard Y to switch out with the threat of Scald. It will still have to be careful, though, because if Mega Charizard Y switches back in while Politoed is still on the field, your team is in trouble until rain is up again. It is important to note that to support its teammates as long as possible, Politoed has to stay alive for as long as possible to keep rain up.
Use Encore to lock foes into support moves or other harmless moves. Use Helping Hand for a power boost only if necessary. If you use a Pokemon with a sleep-inducing move on your team, be careful with using Scald, as it might burn a foe that you would rather put to sleep.

Team Options
========
Swift Swim sweepers such as Ludicolo, Kingdra, (AC) and Mega Swampert work well with Politoed, because their Speed stats get gets doubled by Drizzle. Even though Mega Charizard Y doesn't like to face Politoed, a fast and strong Electric-type is often beneficial such as Thundurus, Raikou, (AC) or Thundurus-T is often beneficial to get rid of it. Their offensive presence and a perfectly accurate Thunder allow them to check other foes besides Mega Charizard Y, such as opposing Keldeo and Talonflame. The only downside to Electric-types is that they have a lot of trouble switching in directly. Bulky Steel-types such as Mega Metagross, Mega Mawile, and non-Mega Scizor resist Dragon- and Fairy-type attacks and benefit from the rain removing their weakness to Fire. Having a Steel-type on your team also helps to check Kyurem-B, which is often used for beating rain teams. However, Kyurem-B still hits really hard with Earth Power and Steel-types have trouble switching in directly. Intimidate support from the likes of Landorus-T can help Politoed to survive for longer. Teammates that can check opposing Electric- and Grass-types, (AC) such as Kyurem-B and Hydreigon, (AC) also work really well because they can soak up attacks aimed at Politoed. Other strong Flying-types such as Talonflame and Togekiss are very useful for cleaning up bulkier Grass-type Pokemon. Fast Dragon-types such as Kyurem-B, Hydreigon, Latios, and Garchomp to an extent are good picks to beat sun teams and opposing rain teams. Surprisingly, Fire-types such as Talonflame and Heatran are great on rain teams because they check Grass-types and are even stronger when rain faces sun. Fairies such as Mega Gardevoir and Mega Diancie are good picks because they can also beat Kyurem-B. Mega Diancie also beats Thundurus and Mega Charizard Y, both of which are big threats to rain too.

Moves
========
Hydro Pump is usually Politoed's go-to move due to its high power and the STAB boost. Even though it has somewhat shaky accuracy, it deals tons of damage to foes that don't expect it, and having a Choice Specs-boosted Hydro Pump makes it difficult for opposing Pokemon to switch into Politoed. Use Scald when you don't want to risk a miss; it is also a nice move for crippling physical attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Metagross, hitting them hard and possibly even burning them.

Set Details
========
A 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA EV spread allows Politoed to do a lot of damage and increases its bulk significantly. A Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs allows Politoed to check Trick Room teams more easily, as most opposing non-Trick Room Pokemon would outspeed Politoed anyway; notably, it makes Politoed slower than Cresselia, which can be nice. Politoed generally should not use Speed EVs, as it is unlikely to benefit from that them; however, 84 Speed EVs with a Modest nature allow Politoed to outspeed uninvested Togekiss, and 112 Speed EVs with a Modest nature allow Politoed to outspeed Adamant Choice Scarf Landorus-T under Tailwind. Choice Specs maximizes Politoed's damage output, and Drizzle is the only reason to use Politoed, providing rain and of the rain it provides, powering up Politoed's STAB moves.

Usage Tips
========
Usually, Hydro Pump is the best move to use, unless a foe is 4x weak to one of Politoed's other moves. Be wary of opposing sun teams, though, as even though Politoed is still fairly strong thanks to Choice Specs, sun will drastically cut its damage output.

Team Options
========
Considering that this set focuses on dealing damage instead of providing rain support, having a second rain setter is appreciated; examples include Rain Dance Kingdra, Rain Dance Thundurus, and Rain Dance Tornadus. Even though your team is usually far less reliant on rain when using Choice Specs Politoed, you can still use Swift Swimmer sweepers effectively, mainly Ludicolo, Kingdra, and Mega Swampert. Ludicolo is the best Swift Swim sweeper alongside Politoed because it beats other Water-types that try to soak up Hydro Pumps. Other Grass-types such as Venusaur and Serperior can still be put on the team, though they are less useful. Talonflame or Heatran is a good partner to get rid of opposing Grass- and Steel-types that wall Politoed.

Due to Politoed's low Speed, it fits well on Trick Room teams. Some decent Trick Room setters are Slowbro and Jellicent because Drizzle's rain boosts their Water-type moves too; however, they will stack weaknesses with Politoed. Other viable setters include Gourgeist-XL, as its weakness to Fire is removed in rain, and Chandelure, as rain teams often like having a Fire-type to take care of Grass-types that can easily take Politoed's strong Hydro Pump. Good teammates on Trick Room teams are Fairy-types such as Mega Mawile, Sylveon, and Azumarill because they are able to get rid of Dragon-types such as Kyurem-B, Latios, and Hydreigon; (unbold semicolon) taking out Kyurem-B is particularly important because it walls rain teams. Mega Diancie also gets rid of other Flying-types in addition to some Electric-types that are dangerous to Politoed, such as Thundurus and Zapdos. You can also use your own Dragon-types such as Latios, Hydreigon, and Kyurem-B to get rid of other Dragon-types and to beat sun teams, which is important because sun negates a lot of Politoed's damage. Kyurem-B also has a strong Ice-type attack to get rid of Zapdos and Thundurus. Escavalier is a good partner as well because it can take care of Grass-types, such as opposing Ludicolo and Venusaur, and Ice-types, notably being able to take out Kyurem-B with Iron Head. If you want another Steel-type, you can also use Mega Scizor. An Electric-type such as Mega Ampharos is also appreciated to get rid of other Water-types. If you are not using Trick Room, you could still use Talonflame or Heatran to get rid of opposing Grass- and Steel-types that wall Politoed. Ludicolo is the best Swift Swim sweeper alongside Politoed because it beats other Water-types that try to soak up Hydro Pumps, but other Grass-types such as Venusaur and Serperior can still be put on the team, though they are less useful. (why not move this to the section before you start talking about Trick Room? I've done so, but if there's a reason you had it this way, ignore the change!)

Checks and Counters

**Opposing Weather**: Because sun halves the Base Power of Water-type attacks, avoid using Scald on opposing Mega Charizard Y or and other Fire-type Pokemon don't mind Scald when sun is up. (trying to keep POV neutral) The pair of Mega Charizard Y and Venusaur is able to use strong (subjective, but like... Seedot... is able to use Grass-type moves on Politoed too, so I feel like you should specify what makes Char Y and Venu noteworthy. hence strong... but use whatever word/words you like) Grass-type moves on Politoed, and Politoed does hardly any damage in return while sun is up. Hail can also be fairly annoying because Mega-Abomasnow resists Politoed's attacks and can do a ton of damage with its Grass-type moves in return.

Thundurus has the ability to 2HKO Politoed with Thunderbolt, and Amoonguss doesn't care about Politoed, even if Politoed locks it into an unfavorable move with Encore.

**Strong Attackers**: Politoed has trouble with strong attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Gardevoir, and Hydreigon, all of which can all take it out with their sheer power.
