[OVERVIEW]

While Mega Manectric does possess blazing Speed and good coverage, its only decent Special Attack and frailty let it down, holding it back from being a decent attacker in DOU. Its attacks often lack the needed power to get a finishing punch on most foes, leaving it open to attacks with its paltry bulk if it doesn't get a KO. Its lack of bulk and notable resistances leave it unable to safely switch into attacks and make it prone to getting significantly damaged by any strong blow; if opposing speed control is up, Mega Manectric simply becomes a liability. Its access to Intimidate is quite nifty, however, giving it a way to support its teammates by weakening opposing physical attacks, and its combination of high Speed and super effective coverage makes it decent for late-game clean-up situations. Being an Electric-type is also a boon for a fast attacker, as this means Mega Manectric can't be paralyzed. Despite that, however, Mega Manectric isn't a recommended pick due to costing a Mega Evolution when it's mostly subpar; a different Mega Evolution such as Mega Kangaskhan or Mega Diancie would often yield better results.

Moves
=======

Thunderbolt is simply Mega Manectric's reliable STAB move. Overheat lets Mega Manectric get quick major damage on Steel- and Grass-types such as Jirachi, Aegislash, and Amoonguss and lets it get the OHKO on Ferrothorn. Hidden Power Ice lets Mega Manectric cover Dragon- and Ground-types such as Hydreigon, Latios, and Landorus-T. Protect shields Mega Manectric from attacks, letting it safely Mega Evolve, stall out field conditions such as Trick Room, and position as needed.

Set Details
=======

Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment and a Timid nature are used in order to maximize Mega Manectric's offensive potential and let it outrun Mega Gengar. Lightning Rod is the selected ability in order to let Manectric provide some utility and possibly nab a Special Attack boost pre-Mega.

Usage Tips
=======

Mega Manectric should mostly be used as a last-hitter of foes that are in KO range, as, while it is fast, it is also quite frail. Thanks to its Speed and wide coverage, Mega Manectric does well as a cleaner late-game when most foes are already weakened. It can also provide support by threatening KOs on numerous faster foes that ordinarily would be threats to its teammates; an example is it threatening a Keldeo that's pressuring a Heatran partner. While it does have Intimidate to support teammates with, it should be utilized carefully, as Mega Manectric can't take many hits due to its frailty. It can also use its Lightning Rod ability pre-Mega in order to protect teammates from Electric-type attacks and nab a boost; still, it should Mega Evolve as soon as possible because its base 105 Speed leaves it threatened by a good number of foes.

Team Options
=======

Teammates that can effectively deal with Landorus-T are strongly recommended; Kyurem-B and Water-types such as Keldeo and Rotom-W can all KO it with their respective STAB moves. Spread attackers are also good teammates because they can efficiently weaken an opposing team enough for Mega Manectric to be able to KO effectively; Volcanion and Heatran can do good damage with Heat Wave, Sylveon can hit hard with Hyper Voice, and Terrakion can effectively spread damage around with Rock Slide. Landorus-T can also work, but using both can bring the team a deadly weakness to Bisharp, which can take advantage of the duo's Intimidates. Talonflame is also an effective partner, as they can effectively form a one-two punch that can finish off foes with ease with their high Speed and power.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Volt Switch can be useful in order to keep Mega Manectric safe while it's picking off threats, but using it means losing a reliable STAB move, a valuable coverage move, or a necessity in Protect. Flamethrower is a weaker alternative over Overheat that doesn't have the Special Attack drop. Snarl can be nifty to support teammates against special attacking foes, but this kind of role would be better done by Raikou, which is bulkier and doesn't cost a Mega slot for a supporting role.

Checks and Counters
==============

**Ground-type Pokemon**: Choice Scarf Landorus-T, a very common threat in the metagame, can both outrun Mega Manectric and OHKO it with Earthquake. Gastrodon and Mega Swampert can take any attack and KO with their respective Ground-type STAB moves.

**Strong Attackers**: Any strong attacker that can take a blow from Mega Manectric, such as Mega Kangaskhan or Kyurem-B, can hit back for good damage at its paper-thin bulk.

**Tailwind and Trick Room**: Mega Manectric needs the Speed advantage in order to be effective, as it can easily be picked off without it. Tailwind, from the likes of Talonflame and Zapdos, and Trick Room, from threats such as Cresselia and Hoopa-U, are ones to watch out for.

**Defiant**: Bisharp can simply take advantage of Mega Manectric's Intimidate with a boost to its Attack.
