Before you could even wave to each other on opposite sides of the cell, a guard yells in a language that you don't understand, but sounds like a romance language.
A man dressed in robes appears. He shoos away any prying eyes and ears, and speaks to you in clear English.
"Hello time travelers. It seems you've both been selected to battle as gladiators. What... era are you from?"
He throws up a brow when you tell him "2016." You counter his question with one of your own: What in the heck happened?
"Occasionally, we need more than just prisoners to battle, so we have to... break time a little bit in order to get new combatants. I used to be from a future era too, but I was lucky and managed to get a high standing position in Rome after I skewered a man. Sorry to say, but one of you's gonna have to do the same."
