Alomomola

QC: Amaroq / Bouff / dodmen

[OVERVIEW]

* Alomomola is commonly found as a utility Pokemon that ties together stall teams, although it can also work on bulky offense teams.
* High HP and Defense allow Alomomola to take many hits with ease.
* A great ability in Regenerator lets Alomomola keep itself healthy while passing Wishes and pivoting into strong attackers.
* Alomomola's Special Defense is mediocre, meaning it struggles to take on strong special wallbreakers.
* Low power means Alomomola is passive and can be setup fodder for a large portion of the tier. It cannot break most Substitutes or deal significant damage to any setup sweeper that does not fear status such as Clefable or Gliscor, and its only way of threatening Pokemon such as Bisharp is through burning them with Scald. It also lets in support Pokemon such as Tentacruel and Blissey, and they can perform their jobs without fear.

[SET]
name: Wish Support
move 1: Wish
move 2: Protect

move 4: Toxic / Knock Off
item: Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
ability: Regenerator
nature: Bold
evs: 40 HP / 252 Def / 216 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Wish is a great tool for Alomomola to heal not only itself, but also its teammates.
* Protect is used to scout Choice item users and safely receive Wishes.
* Scald punishes physical attackers attempting to switch into or set up on Alomomola.
* Toxic beats Pokemon such as Slowbro while putting setup sweepers on a timer.
* Knock Off can be used over Toxic to remove the item of switch-ins such as Clefable, Tentacruel, and Celebi, which allows its teammates to deal with them more easily.

Set Details
========

* 40 HP EVs give Alomomola 481 HP, which minimizes hazard damage while maximizing recovery.
* Maximum Defense EVs with a Bold nature are used, as the goal of this set is still to mainly take on physical threats.
* The rest of the EVs are dumped into Special Defense to allow Alomomola to scout the sets of special attackers, as even Choice Specs Hydreigon's Draco Meteor fails to OHKO it without Stealth Rock damage.
* Regenerator allows Alomomola to pass Wishes and pivot while keeping itself healthy, giving it a unique niche over any other viable Pokemon.
* Leftovers is the item of choice, as it adds to Alomomola's longevity and negates burn damage.
* A Rocky Helmet can be used to punish common U-turn users such as Scizor, and slowly wear them down.

Usage Tips
========

* Take on strong physical attackers such as Entei and Krookodile, and use the opportunities created to use Wish.
* Alomomola should pass its Wishes to teammates whenever an opportunity presents itself, and keep its team healthy. Regenerator should generally be keeping it healthy.
* Use Toxic on common switch-ins such as Raikou and Slowbro to slowly whittle them down.
* Alomomola is able to scout the set of many strong special attackers such as Gengar and Hydreigon, as it can use Regenerator to heal up in the worst-case scenario. It can also pivot into many strong physical attackers such as Bewear, Conkeldurr, and Scizor to scout their set.

Team Options
========

* Alomomola best fits on stall teams, as it can take on a variety of physical attackers such as Mega Aerodactyl and Krookodile. Thus, stall staples such as Blissey and Clefable make good partners for it.
* Clerics such as Togekiss function well with Alomomola, as they are able to cure it of volatile status conditions.
* Special walls like Blissey are able to deal with the special attackers that scare Alomomola, while Alomomola can take on most of the physical attackers that threaten Blissey.
* Raikou answers such as Hippowdon and Amoonguss make for good partners, as they can take care of Alomomola's weakness; in return, Alomomola can take on powerful wallbreakers such as Mega Sharpedo and Entei for them.
* Ways of beating Celebi, Amoonguss, and other Grass-types are required. Mandibuzz and Scizor make for great answers to those, and also appreciate Alomomola's ability to take on wallbreakers.
* Partners that beat common Pokemon that attempt to set up on Alomomola are needed. This includes Pokemon such as Haze Mantine or Unaware Calm Mind Clefable to take care of threats such as Substitute + Calm Mind Keldeo and Magic Guard Calm Mind Clefable.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Mirror Coat can be used to surprise special attackers such as Gengar and Alakazam, and remove them from the game.
* On bulky offense teams, Healing Wish is a valid option to heal up a teammate such as Choice Specs Hydreigon or Choice Scarf Infernape, which can then proceed to torment teams that have already expended their checks to it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Electric-types**: Electric-types like Raikou and Magneton can easily KO Alomomola. While they can be worn down over the course of the match, their immediate power and ability to gain momentum via Volt Switch can be a serious problem.

**Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Celebi in particular are nuisances, as they can switch into Alomomola and either threaten it and its teammates with status conditions or set up on it. Support Celebi sets can also use this opportunity to set Stealth Rock or use U-turn to gain momentum.

**Special Dragon-types**: As they resist Scald and do not fear a burn, special Dragon-types such as Latias and Hydreigon can freely switch in on Alomomola and either set up with Calm Mind or threaten it with powerful Draco Meteors.

**Taunt Users**: Taunt users such as Gliscor and Gengar can shut down Alomomola's support options. Gliscor can handily beat it thanks to its access to Roost, while Gengar can stop its potential Wish from being beneficial for one of its teammates and deal heavy damage to it with Sludge Wave or Shadow Ball.

**Bulky Setup Users**: Pokemon such as Reuniclus, Clefable, and Suicune can freely set up on Alomomola, as they do not fear Toxic. All of these need a dedicated teammate to handle them, as they are checked in vastly different manners.

**Guts Users**: Alomomola is very weak, and its main way of beating foes is through inducing volatile status conditions such as burn and toxic poison. Heracross and Conkeldurr can take advantage of this to activate their ability, Guts, and start setting up.

**Water-immune Pokemon**: Toxicroak can switch in on Alomomola and start setting up for free. Jellicent can switch in on Scald as well and Taunt it, but has to make sure it does not get hit by Toxic upon switching in. Mantine can Toxic Alomomola, but it does not appreciate getting hit by Toxic in return. Volcanion can 2HKO Alomomola with Hidden Power Electric, but can easily be worn down once it has been inflicted with toxic poison.

**Toxic users**: As Alomomola itself has no way of removing a volatile status condition, the use of Toxic from Pokemon such as Klefki and Mantine put it on a timer. While these Pokemon do not necessarily want to stay in on Alomomola, as Mantine also wishes to avoid being poisoned, they put Alomomola in a bad spot, leaving it unable to consistently check strong attackers.

Add that physical attackers that can take advantage of Scald to grab a Guts boost (Conkeldurr, Heracross, etc.) can set up on Alomomola and pressure it out. QC 1/3.

Intro: I wouldn't say it "cannot" take on special wallbreakers, just that it struggles to take on some of them. Also expand the last bullet point, as Alomomola's passiveness extends far beyond being unable to break Substitutes. It's a free switch-in for bulky Pokemon that don't mind status, like Clefable and Gliscor, letting them set up easily. It loses to boosting physical attackers like SD Bisharp and SD Cobalion unless it gets a Scald burn, because of Scald's extremely low damage output. It also lets support Pokemon like Tentacruel and Blissey come in and do their job with little difficulty.

Moves: Elaborate that Knock Off messes with common switchins like Clefable, Tentacruel, and Celebi, letting Alomomola's teammates deal with these Pokemon more easily.

Usage Tips: You can add that Alomomola can pivot liberally into Pokemon like Conkeldurr, Bewear, and Scizor early game to scout the set / Choice-locked move before going into an appropriate teammate if necessary.

Team Options: Add to the beginning that Alomomola generally fits best on stall teams as a catch-all for various physical attackers like Mega Aerodactyl and Krookodile.

QC 3/3 after that.
