[OVERVIEW]

A good offensive and defensive Fairy typing allows Comfey to take on common threats like Kommo-o, Kingdra, Heracross, and Honchkrow. Comfey can also function as a good stallbreaker and setup sweeper thanks to Taunt, Calm Mind, access to reliable recovery, and its Speed stat, which allows it to naturally outspeed all walls. Its ability Triage grants it +3 priority to all healing moves, allowing Comfey to outprioritize every attack with Draining Kiss and Synthesis. It is also particularly helpful because it allows Comfey to revenge kill many of the good offensive Dark-, Dragon-, and Fighting-type Pokemon like Kommo-o and Honchkrow, making it stand out from the other Fairy-types in the tier. Comfey also has a good movepool to complement this, featuring healing moves in Synthesis and Draining Kiss along with a setup move in Calm Mind and utility in Taunt. A high Speed and Special Defense stat alongside a decent Special Attack stat makes Comfey a decent setup sweeper; however, low HP and mediocre Defense make it susceptible to strong physical attackers such as Araquanid, Escavalier, Toxicroak, Stoutland, Doublade, and Snorlax. Furthermore, a mono-Fairy typing sports common weaknesses in Poison and Steel, leaving Comfey vulnerable to Pokemon such as Venusaur and Doublade that can easily set up on it. Similarly, with only one attack, Comfey cannot heavily damage these Pokemon before being KOed. Comfey is also pitifully weak without boosts, with only a 50-Base Power move to go off of alongside only a decent base 82 Special Attack, allowing other Pokemon to set up on it with ease.

Moves
========

Draining Kiss is Comfey's STAB move and only attack, which has +3 priority thanks to Triage. It is especially useful with priority because it allows Comfey to revenge kill many threats including Pangoro, Sneasel, Honchkrow, and Heracross with its unmatched priority. Calm Mind is Comfey's setup move, which boosts both its Special Attack and Special Defense. Taunt is useful against bulkier Pokemon such as Porygon2, Mantine, and Florges, discouraging the use of status moves against Comfey and allowing it to set up against them. Synthesis heals half of Comfey's HP at any given point and is a more reliable source of recovery than Draining Kiss. It receives +3 priority from Triage, but be wary of its meager 8 PP. It also recovers more in the sun, but be careful, as it heals less in sand, which is common because of Gigalith. Leech Seed is an option that offers even more recovery while also dealing chip damage to the foe. Combined with Draining Kiss and Synthesis, it turns Comfey into a defensive Pokemon with many methods of recovery, but Taunt is generally more useful for dealing with bulkier Pokemon. Leech Seed does help to weaken walls that Draining Kiss deals little damage to, such as Registeel, but note that Leech Seed is not affected by Triage.

Set Details
========

64 Speed EVs allow Comfey to outspeed maximum Speed Modest Nidoqueen, as many of them don't run Sludge Wave, allowing Comfey to turn Nidoqueen into setup fodder. 252 HP EVs maximize Comfey's bulk while also increasing Synthesis and Leftovers recovery. The rest of the EVs are put into Defense alongside a Bold nature in order to give Comfey as much physical bulk as possible. Leftovers provides more passive recovery for Comfey, stacking alongside its other methods of recovery. Pixie Plate is an option instead of Leftovers that increases the power of Draining Kiss, effectively giving Comfey more recovery while also doing more damage, but Leftovers is generally more reliable. Triage gives +3 priority to Comfey's healing moves, particularly Synthesis and Draining Kiss, but bear in mind that Leech Seed does not receive priority.

Usage Tips
========

Send in Comfey against slower, bulkier Pokemon, shut them down with Taunt, then set up with Calm Mind against them. Comfey can also set up against weaker special attackers like Goodra, as it can use Calm Mind to boost its Special Defense and heal with Synthesis. Similarly, Comfey can force switches against Pokemon like Kommo-o, giving it one free turn of setup. Comfey also plays better as a late-game sweeper, so remove its checks like Registeel before sending it in. Use Synthesis conservatively, as it only has 8 PP, and Comfey has other recovery options under its belt. Similarly, as Comfey has only one attack with 16 PP, be careful about the opponent constantly switching to absorb Draining Kiss. If Comfey is running Leech Seed instead of Taunt, use it liberally and even use it twice on a predicted switch. Comfey can also support teammates with Leech Seed recovery while chipping at foes. Avoid letting Comfey get inflicted with status, as Toxic and burns ruin its longevity, while the full paralysis chance can be annoying by denying Comfey a valuable turn. As a result, use Taunt to stop bulky Pokemon from inflicting status onto Comfey. As this EV spread aims to outspeed Nidoqueen, scout its moveset for Sludge Wave before sending Comfey in against it; without Sludge Wave, Nidoqueen cannot heavily damage Comfey if it has started boosting. Comfey can also revenge kill very weakened threats due to its +3 priority Draining Kiss, but keep in mind that Draining Kiss is very weak without boosts and often fails to KO Pokemon that it does not hit super effectively, so calculate if it will KO before sending it in.

Team Options
========

Spikers such as Omastar, Chesnaught, and Froslass can stack Spikes, which aids Comfey's sweeping potential. Steel-types resist opposing Steel-type moves and are immune to the Poison-type moves that can easily KO Comfey. Notable ones include Escavalier, which can wallbreak for Comfey, Bronzong and Registeel, which have good defensive capabilities, and Doublade, which is good at blocking other Steel-types like Registeel but must be wary of Escavalier's Knock Off. Comfey's ability to deal with threatening Fighting-, Dark-, and Dragon-type Pokemon such as Kommo-o, Heracross, and Honchkrow is appreciated by teammates such as Registeel, Rhyperior, Umbreon, and Cresselia. Ground-type Pokemon such as Flygon and Nidoqueen can take care of opposing Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-type Pokemon that pose as threats to Comfey. Psychic-types such as Espeon and Cresselia can deal with the Poison-types like Roserade and Salazzle that trouble Comfey. Fire-types such as Rotom-H and Torkoal have a good matchup against Steel-types, and Rotom-H can also use Volt Switch to pivot freely into Comfey. Sun from Torkoal also increases Synthesis recovery. Hard-hitters such as Choice Specs Gardevoir, Escavalier, Heracross, and Choice Specs Kommo-o can wallbreak the opposing team and weaken foes for Comfey to clean up or revenge kill later.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
===================

Hidden Power Ground hits Steel-, Poison-, and Fire-type Pokemon super effectively, which resist Draining Kiss. However, it lacks priority and forces Comfey to give up Taunt, which it needs to beat bulkier Pokemon. It is also generally very weak, especially against walls such as Registeel. Aromatherapy allows Comfey to act as a cleric for its team should it need one, but Comfey generally needs the four moves it already has to function properly.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Comfey cannot deal much damage to Steel-types due to its only attack being Draining Kiss, which has a low Base Power and is resisted by them. Steel-types like Escavalier and Doublade can then threaten Comfey with their powerful STAB moves.

**Poison-types**: Similar to Steel-types, Comfey fails to do much damage to Poison-types, as they also resist Draining Kiss. Dragalge, while not resisting Draining Kiss, has a high Special Defense stat and Adaptability, which allows it to deal heavy damage to Comfey. Other notable Poison-types that can KO Comfey include Sludge Wave Nidoqueen, Salazzle, and Venusaur.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Comfey only has a decent Defense stat along with a low HP stat, which makes it vulnerable to hard-hitting physical attackers. Pokemon such as Araquanid, Stoutland, Toxicroak, and Snorlax can deal massive damage to Comfey without even using super effective attacks before it can set up.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types resist Draining Kiss and can hit Comfey hard with their STAB attacks. Pokemon like Rotom-H and Moltres can all deal a large amount of damage to Comfey if it has no boosts, and Rotom-H can trick a Choice item onto Comfey, locking it into one move.

some stuff I noted:
  • Comfey's biggest niche lie on revenge killing offensive threats such as Sharpedo, Flygon, and Heracross with priority Draining Kiss while also functioning as a stallbreaker thanks to Taunt and Calm Mind.
  • The Speed isn't important for Honchkrow since you hit it with Draining Kiss either way. If I recall correctly, those ev's are actually made to get a CM up versus Nidoqueen in order to live Earth Power provided it doesn't have Sludge Wave (non-sludge wave queen is kinda common with mantine around).
  • Taunt is a must in order to stallbreak effectively and not get Toxic'd, phazed or Hazed and prevent stuff like Florges from Wish passing and using heal bell / aromatherapy.
  • Leech Seed could probably brought down to a Moves mention in order to wear down passive stuff that resists Draining Kiss such as Registeel better, but Synth's immediate recovery is more useful most of the time
  • Among partners, mention stuff that can break Poison and Steel-types such as offensive Nidoqueen, Flygon, etc.
  • You could mention Aromatherapy in other options since it helps if you can't manage to fit a cleric on your team, but it needs all 4 of Synth, CM, Taunt and Draining Kiss to function at its best.
  • Would probably mention Salazzle over Drapion in Checks and Counters since Salazzle is much more relevant in the current metagame + Drapion is barely used and it takes neutral dmg from DKiss.
  • Surprised you don't mention Doublade and instead put Steelix, to be fair.
  • No real reason to mention Emboar, Charizard or Sun at all. If you really want to mention Fire-types, you should probably keep it in Rotom-Heat and maybe Moltres.
  • I don't see any big reason to mention status moves here as Comfey can very well stay away from status as it can Taunt pretty much every user of Toxic or Will-o-Wisp.

Hi! thanks, i made some of the changes and made the sentences a bit more clear. I'm not finished with the team options section just yet, but i'll probably finish it later today, but thanks for all the tips :)

Mention how pitifully weak it is in overview with an unimpressive base 82 spa and being forced to run a 55 bp move. mention doublade as a mon that can abuse it. Add honchkrow to the examples on the first bulletpoint in overview

I know some people have had success with pixie plate so maybe add that in set details?

Remove torkoal from team options imo, mention how chesnaught can double as a spike setter which helps comfey. Add specs kommo alongside the gardevoir mention.

In usage tips mention how comfey needs to use taunt in order to avoid being statused and that one should be careful to not let comfey get statused.

In general this seems like a very high quality analysis and ryoma nagare did a good job of catching small mistakes here and there!

[Overview]

- Mention Comfey's Speed makes it an effective user of Taunt, as it can naturally outspeed all walls.

[Moves]

- Taunt also prevents Calm Mind, letting Comfey easily win bulky boosting wars against Cresselia, Slowbro, and even Reuniclus.
- You'd want to alert to newer players that Leech Seed is not affected by Triage, in case they think they can use it as a last-ditch effort to annoy a revenge killer or something. Triage only boosts moves that heal during the turn that they are used and not after (like Ingrain and Aqua Ring, for example).

[Checks and Counters]
Pokemon like Stoutland and Araquanid can deal massive damage to Comfey without even using super effective attacks before it can set up, but the defensive set is better at dealing with these Pokemon.
- First off, this currently sounds like there's some other Comfey set on the analysis that's not the defensive set, which isn't the case here.
- Second, surely you can come up with a bit more than just Stout and Araq, one of which is only seen on like one playstyle. You can offer more examples such as Emboar, Snorlax, Rhyperior, Mega Glalie, etc.

Thanks for the stuff, i mentioned the thing about leech seed somewhere else in the analysis but forgot to include it in the moves section :p also about the defensive set thing, there used to be an offensive set but i forgot to remove it when i changed it. thanks!

overview

emphasize that triage is so useful because the tier has a lot of offensive good fight, dragon, and dark mons which makes comfey stand out over other fairies like florges or diancie. include doublade snorlax toxicroak stoutland alongside escavalier and araquanid

set name should be Calm Mind and the move order should be Draining Kiss > Calm Mind > Taunt > Synthesis

moves

explain why draining kiss is so useful as a priority move. it basically revenges honchkrow heracross kommo zoroark sneasel and pangoro. mention how synthesis is hampered in sand because gigalith is a good pokemon! u also mentioned synthesis twice lol.

set details

mention that outspeeding nidoqueen is crucial since they tend to lure mantine and run thunderbolt on many sets.

usage tips

if nidoqueen doesnt have sludge wave, it is a setup fodder from the start, not after some boosts. you can include checking the damage calc to see if comfey can revenge kill, because it is pitifully weak lmao

team options

mention how doublade cockblocks registeel but needs to be aware of escavalier's knock off. Toxicroak doesnt really appreciate kommo-o, heracross and honch being removed, so that looks very weird being there. include rhyperior, umbreon, and cresselia alongside registeel. emphasize how torkoal's sun helps comfey. include flame orb / choice band heracross as hard hitter too.

oo

mention that hp ground does laughable damage to most of the checks, especially registeel.
include sub seed and offensive set with uturn

c&c

specify that its sludge wave nidoqueen
moltres and rotom-h are only a threat if comfey isnt boosted. mention that rotom's trick hampers comfey so be aware of it

qc 2/3

implemented and written up, this is ready for the third check!

edit: omicron told me not to put subseed and offensive set in OO, so i didn't

Not QC but Honestly the overview makes Comfey appear as an extremely good pokemon but u really need to mention how weak a BP 50 move from an uninvested 82 SpA is and like literally almost every pokemon not weak to draining kiss can set up on it like salazzle, Espeon and even bruxish and dodrio.

Also I feel that u should mention that it requires a decent amount of prior damage to KO the threatening sweepers Honchkrow, Hawlucha, Heracross and even Kommo-o.

- Team Options paragraph is a bit confusing in some parts. Mentioning Stealth Rock on team options is a really generic mention, every team generally runs Stealth Rock by default anyways so remove that.

- Also, the part that goes like "Steel-types resist Steel-type moves" lack some context. Mention all the steel types on the same sentence/mention. Add Doublade, Bronzong and Escavalier here, you already have the part that mention how Doublade take advantage of steel-types like Registeel so add how Bronzong beat most Nidoqueen sets for Comfey and Escavalier can wallbreak so Comfey can late game sweep.

- Remove Golisopod mention. Pretty bad mon tbh. Mention other spikes setter like Omastar instead which is honestly better. Also "Physically Bulky Pokemon" is another rather generic mention when Comfey is a physical defensive check itself. Just mention how Chesnaught, alongside Omastar and other spikes setters, provide hazards which wear down comfey checks.

- I believe Pixie Plate deserves a mention on OO to give draining kiss some extra damage, not an offensive set but just the pixie plate.

QC 3/3 once implemented. Good work.

Sorry if it sounds somewhat confusing, I will clarify some points if needed.

Did these, just a few things
- pixie plate has a mention in set details, already above OO :^)

- about 'bronzong beats most nidoqueen sets' I'm not convinced that it's necessary since this comfey set already beats most nidoqueen (as they run tbolt over sludge wave most of the time for mantine)

- physically bulky Pokemon mention?? Not sure what you meant by that

In the first sentence of Team Options is what MrAldo is referring to when he says "physically bulky mention". This set is technically decently physically bulky, so it's redundant to mention how physically bulky teammates are helpful to sponge attacks when Comfey is capable of doing that as well. He just wants you to focus on those teammates' other traits, like setting up Spikes etc. Also make a mention of how smart switching etc can waste Draining Kiss's PP, as it's a meager 16 and thus cannot be spammed in a battle against more defensively oriented teams, which will most likely have Protect and bulky Pokemon that can easily take even boosted hits. You don't necessarily have to go into as much detail as I did, but at the very least make a mention of how Comfey's only attacking move has 16 PP.

A good offensive and defensive Fairy typing allows Comfey to take on common threats like Kommo-o, Kingdra, Heracross, and Honchkrow. Comfey can also function as a good stallbreaker and setup sweeper thanks to Taunt, Calm Mind, access to reliable recovery, and its Speed stat,(AC) thatwhich allows it to naturally outspeed all walls. Its ability Triage grants it +3 priority to all healing moves, allowing Comfey to outprioritize every attack with Draining Kiss and Synthesis. It is also particularly helpful because it also allows Comfey to revenge kill many of the good offensive Dark-, Dragon-, and Fighting-type Pokemon like Kommo-o and Honchkrow, making it stand out from the other Fairy-types in the tier. Comfey also has a good movepool to complement this, featuring healing moves in Synthesis and Draining Kiss,(AC) along with a setup move in Calm Mind and utility in Taunt. A high Speed and Special Defense stat alongside a decent Special Attack stat makes Comfey a decent setup sweeper.(RP);(SC) however, low HP and mediocre Defense make it susceptible to strong physical attackers such as Araquanid, Escavalier, Toxicroak, Stoutland, Doublade, and Snorlax. Furthermore, a mono-Fairy typing sports common weaknesses in Poison and Steel, leaving Comfey vulnerable to Pokemon such as Venusaur and Doublade,(AC) thatwhich can easily set up on it. Similarly, with only one attack, Comfey cannot heavily damage these Pokemon before being KOed. Comfey is also pitifully weak without boosts, with only a 50-Base Power move to go off of,(AC) alongside a mediocre 82 base Special Attack, allowing other Pokemon to set up on it with ease.

Moves
========

Draining Kiss is Comfey's STAB move and only attack, and itwhich has +3 priority thanks to Triage. It is especially useful with priority because it allows Comfey to revenge kill many threats including Pangoro, Sneasel, Honchkrow, and Heracross with its unmatched priority. Calm Mind is Comfey's setup move,(AC) thatwhich boosts both its Special Attack and Special Defense. Taunt is useful against bulkier Pokemon, discouraging the use of status moves against Comfey and allowing Comfeyit to set up against them. Taunt should be used against Pokemon such as Mantine, Porygon2, and Florges(expand on this; since they mainly rely on status to inflict damage on Comfey). Synthesis heals half of Comfey's HP at any given pointin a pinch,(AC) and is a more reliable source of recovery than Draining Kiss. It also receives +3 priority from Triage, but be wary of its meager 8 PP. It also healsrecovers more duringHP in the sun, but be careful, as it heals less in sand, which is common because of Gigalith. Leech Seed is an option that offers even more recovery,(AC) while also dealing chip damage to the foe. Combined with Draining Kiss and Synthesis, it turns Comfey into a defensive Pokemon with many methods of recovery, but Taunt is generally more useful for dealing with bulkier Pokemon. However, Leech Seed,(AC) however,(AC) does help to weaken walls that Draining Kiss deals nolittle(it doesnt actually deal no damage) damage to, such as Registeel, but note that Leech Seed is not affectedboosted by Triage.

64 Speed EVs allow Comfey to outspeed maximum Speed Modest Nidoqueen, as many of them don't run Sludge Wave, allowing Comfey to turn Nidoqueen into setup fodder. 252 HP EVs maximize Comfey's bulk,(AC) while also increasing Synthesis and Leftovers recovery,(RC) and.(period) The rest of the EVs are put into Defense,(AC) alongside a Bold nature in order to give Comfey as much physical bulk as possible. Leftovers provides more passive recovery for Comfey, stacking alongside its other methods of recovery. Pixie Plate is an option overinstead of Leftovers,(AC) thatwhich increases the power of Draining Kiss,(RC) effectively giving Comfey a more recovery,(AC) while also doing more damage, but Leftovers is generally more reliable. Triage gives +3 priority to Comfey's healing moves, particularly Synthesis and Draining Kiss, but bear in mind that Leech Seed does not receive priority.

Usage Tips
========

Send in Comfey against slower, bulkier Pokemon, and shut them down with Taunt,(RC).(period) After this, Comfey should use them as setup fodder, in order to set up Calm Mind. then set up with Calm Mind against them. Comfey can also set up against weaker special attackers like Goodra, as it can use Calm Mind to boost its Special Defense and heal with Synthesis. Similarly, Comfey can force switches against Pokemon like Kommo-o, giving Comfeyit one free turn of setup. Comfey also plays better as a late-game sweeper, so remove its checks like Registeel before sending it in. Use Synthesis conservatively, as it only has 8 PP,(AC) and Comfey has other recovery options under its belt. Similarly, as Comfey has only one attack with 16 PP, be careful about the opponent constantly switching to absorb Draining Kiss. If Comfey is running Leech Seed instead of Taunt, use it liberally,(AC) and even use it twice on a predicted switch. Comfey can also support teammates with Leech Seed recovery,(AC) while chipping at foes. Avoid letting Comfey get inflicted with status, as Toxic and burns ruin its longevity,(AC) while and the full paralysis chance can be annoyingcostly(how? ,making Comfey potentially lose one important turn of recovery or w/e). As such, use Taunt to stop bulky Pokemon from inflicting status onto Comfey. As this EV spread aims to outspeed Nidoqueen, scout its moveset for Sludge Wave before sending Comfey in against it; without Sludge Wave, Nidoqueen cannot heavily damage Comfey if it has started boosting. Comfey can also revenge kill very weakened threats due to its +3 priority Draining Kiss, but keep in mind that Draining Kiss is very weak without boosts,(AC) and often fails to KO Pokemon that it does not hit super effectively, so calculate if it will KO before sending it in.

Team Options
========

Spikers such as Omastar, Chesnaught, and Froslass can stack Spikes,(AC) which that aids Comfey's sweeping potential. Steel-types resist opposing Steel-type moves,(AC) and are immune to Poison-type moves that can easily KO Comfey. Ground-type Pokemon such as Flygon and Nidoqueen can take care of opposing Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-type Pokemon that postpose(they don't mail their threats to Comfey)a threats to Comfey. Psychic-types such as Espeon and Cresselia can deal with Poison-types like Roserade and Salazzle,(AC) thatwhich trouble Comfey. Fire-types such as Rotom-H and Torkoal have a good matchup against Steel-types,(AC) in particular against Escavalier, and Rotom-H can also use Volt Switch to pivot freely into Comfey. Sun from the aforementioned(you never mentioned Torkoal before this) Torkoal also increases Synthesis recovery. Hard-hitters such as Choice Specs Gardevoir, Escavalier, Heracross, and Choice Specs Kommo-o can wallbreak the opposing team and weaken foes for Comfey to clean up or revenge kill later.

Other Options
===================

Hidden Power Ground nailshits Steel-, Poison-, and Fire-type Pokemon super effectively, all of which resist Draining Kiss. However, it lacks priority and forces Comfey to give up Taunt, which it needs to beat bulkier Pokemon. It is also generally very weak, especially against walls such as Registeel. Aromatherapy allows Comfey to act as a cleric for its team,(AC) should it need one, but Comfey generally needs the four moves it already has to function properly.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Comfey cannot deal much damage to Steel-types due to its only havingattack being Draining Kiss, which has a low Base Power and is resisted by them. Steel-types like Escavalier and Doublade can then threaten Comfey with their powerful STAB moves.

**Poison-types**: Similar to Steel-types, Comfey fails to do much damage to Poison-types, as they also resist Draining Kiss. Dragalge, while not resisting Draining Kiss, has a high Special Defense stat and Adapatability, which allows it to deal heavy damage to Comfey. Other notable Poison-types that can KO Comfey include Sludge Wave Nidoqueen, Salazzle, and Venusaur.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Comfey only has a decent Defense stat along with a low HP stat, which makes it vulnerable to hard-hitting physical attacks. Pokemon such as Araquanid, Stoutland, Toxicroak, and Snorlax can deal massive damage to Comfey,(AC) without even using super effective attacks,(AC) before it can set up.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types resist Draining Kiss and can hit Comfey hard with their STAB attacks. Pokemon like Rotom-H and Moltres can all deal a large amount of damage to Comfey if it has no boosts, and Rotom-H can trick a Choice item onto Comfey, forcing it to uselocking it into one move.

Hi Conor3197, nice amcheck! However, I did find a few things:
1) Kiss is very weak without boosts,(AC) and often fails to KO Pokemon that it does not hit super effectively, so
There shouldn't be a comma where you added one, because it doesn't separate two independent clauses from the 'and'. For there to be a comma, it would have to be 'and IT often'.

2) Leech Seed is an option that offers even more recovery,(AC) while also dealing
Shouldn't be a comma here either, because the 'while' just means 'at the same time'. If there were a comma, the 'while' would be comparing two things

Hope I could help and good luck with amchecking!

I did implement most things btw

lotiasite you can add GP 1/2 when you're done. Other than dependent vs. independent clauses, the amcheck was satisfactory for 1/2 to the point where the next check shouldn't be too difficult.
