Everything else is just wild meandering and showing off some batman porn for nerds. Not that I'm blaming it; it was a pretty revolutionary move at the time, but it's not actually a brilliant _film_ in my views.

Scarecrow is my favorite villain tbh I like how he appeared in all 3 movies

The first half of Batman Begins is phenomenal in my view, like I just love montages and non-linear story it's my weakness. And the establishing of the gritty Gotham with all the mafia violence and stuff. That actually scared me as an 10 year old when I first watched it. And I like a lot of the philosophy about criminals and stuff. I really liked Rachel explaining to Bruce the difference between justice and revenge because tbh that was something I always wondered about irl and that gave me a pretty satisfying answer. Of course Ra's al Ghul is cool and stuff and the training montage is fun.

I think it kind of falls back a bit more in the second half when he gets back to Gotham. In a way it's kind of two movies but it had to do it. It does drag a bit tbh and I agree Gordon and Batman haven't found their character yet. I feel like Gordon should have been commissioner from the start (not sure if that was how it was in the comics yet) and part of the plan rather than just some random cop trying to figure out how to be good in a bad city. And I don't see how Batman can possibly justify that leaving someone to die isn't the same as killing them. That always bothered me, it almost undoes the entire theme of the movie.

Still, I actually kind of like how the movie starts out extremely gritty and realistic and then gets more fantastical elements later on. It reminds me a lot of this anime called Durarara!! which starts out pretty dark and is about gang violence among teenagers and human trafficking and stuff, but then gets a little more fantastical as it goes with superhumans and magical creatures getting involved later on. Like I said earlier, the early scenes in Gotham actually scared me as a kid but then later on things go totally superhero film as you're introduced to fear toxins and these huge bombastic plans by the League of Shadows. Just an interesting juxtaposition in my opinion. Aside from these two examples I've never seen it done elsewhere.

Yeah I agree, the first half is really good, christian bale did an actual good job of playing bruce wayne how he SHOULD have been, back in the many comics: a tortured soul that went out to seek how to protect people. Joe Chill's trial scene is good and all. But the cheesey lines batman says, 'U NNEVER MINDED UR SURROUNDINGS!', the cgi monorail, The Microwave Emitter, it's just like...is this spider man?? It feels like people are trying to hard to say ebic comedy lines. "I have got to get me one of those!" "Can you drive stick?"

One of my least favorite moments in that movie was when the wayne enterprises guy explained how the microwave emitted worked, it was this bad editing quality like a youtube disaster video. It's just the worst exposition possible. And then later the old guy in wayne tower is like "if the water pressure reaches wayne tower, it's ALL OVER!". Also, wayne tower. And the stupid subplot of the company going public so bruce loses it, but then he buys it back :^) really reminds me of spider man 1 in a bad way
