I'm gonna go #AllDiseasesMatter here. ALS is like the worst, but it IS a minority condition. Would the money have been better put toward a universal genetic disease, such as cancer / sickle cell / down syndrome? I believe it _could_ have been. But that's a utilitarian view of the world, which is pretty cold. Measuring potential of curing, disesase treatment woudl be pretty cynical.
