Other The Dark Horse Project (ORAS Edition)

Alright haha I'm not saying he comes in on any fairy attack. What I mean to say is that he can come in on the defensive fairies that Absol can't muscle past. Things like clefable and defensive sylveon, also unboosted altaria believe it or not. Not many things actually want to take sludge wave on...

Pokemon Showdown! Username: Nidoking+Absol Prior Hall of Fame Standing: None Current Dark Horse Pokemon: Nidoking and Absol Explanation of Dark Horse(s) Mega-Absol is my favorite mega and I've always felt it gets a bad rep in OU. It is certainly very frail but it does work against some of the...

ORAS OU Feedback on Mega Absol team

Hey guys, first off thanks for taking the time to try and help me out. This is a team I've put together around my favorite mega, Absol, who we don't see in OU very often. I'm more than open to set changes, new 'mon suggestions, so long as you keep the core of M-Absol and Conkeldurr intact. At a...

np: ORAS OU Suspect Testing, Round 1 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [Greninja is Uber]

All these people posting about 4mss etc., is that even relevant? Greninja makes traditional balanced teams literally impossible to create w/o some kind of tailor-made scarf counter. Shouldn't the fact that in invalidates an entire play style be enough to ban? Idk, it's a really cool poke and...

    Phaeded ~~ OU (Almost) Stall ~~ Peaked 1850 (#46)

He was UU last gen mostly because of rest mechanics (which have changed). Also because of rain water absorb pokes like jellicent/gastro were a lot more common. Anyways, this looks like a cool little team. Crocune is also one of my favorite pokes and I've been trying with little success to build...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

This is honestly exhausting. You absolutely right, it's prankster swagger plus other moves that make this strategy so awful. Not prankster swagger itself. Prankster isn't uncompetitive. Neither is foul play. Neither is thunder wave. Neither is swagger. Neither is any combination of two, or even...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

I actually could find the quote as it's on the previous page. Regardless, yes the strategy as a whole is comparable. I just don't want to see swagger banned, or even prankster swagger, when that really isn't the problem.

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

Yeah hi. The comparison wasn't between swagplay and evasion, it was between swagger, the move, and evasion. FYI, there isn't one

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

It was me and it is. As far as prankster is concerned it is one if the best status moves, which is the whole reason we are having this discussion. If it wasn't there wouldn't be 60 pages of people whining about it. I would put it behind wow and twave and that's it. This whole debate is just...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

Banning prankster + swagger is both lame and a cop out. The whole point of the ability is to get more use out of status moves like swagger, and taking one of the better status moves away because you can't handle it is sad and pathetic. There is nothing wrong with that combination outside of how...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

To be fair, swag play is basically a worse version of parafusion. I think you mean paraflinch, and paraflinch is a lot easier to counter than swagplay imo

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

I really don't see what's complicated: Prankster + swagger - not ban worthy Prankster + twave - not ban worthy Swagger + foul play - not ban worthy Swagger + twave - not ban worthy Prankster + swagger + twave + foul play = ban worthy The only point I've been trying to make is that none of the...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

Yeah it is. All I'm saying is that none of the suggested bans are good enough in my opinion. The problem is that moveset, with all the moves together. Prankster twave and prankster swagger alone aren't enough of a problem to be banned, and banning things like klefki or Thundurus just because...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

I hate swagplay but how can you really ban this? Prankster is annoying as all hell but it isn't broken. Swagger, prankster, twave, and foul play are all legitimate strategies in my eyes, it's only when all of them are together (with something like substitute) that it becomes a problem. If you...

Dual-Core [OU Balanced Offense Team with Charizard-X!]

Just remember that you need the turn to DD for adamant to be worth it. You should also probably figure out what speed tier out speeds you with 252+. I would guess somewhere around Landorus-t area which could be pretty important. Edit: Also just noticed this but put the 4 evs he has in hp into...

XY Suspect Testing Round 1 np: Michael Jackson - (extreme)Speed Demon (READ POST #1278)

Right but your talking about the scarf variant, and I'm talking about EB. There really isn't anything to predict, and tbh it punishes you for trying. Again, not trying to be a jerk or anything, I just want to know at least one or two other pokes that can wall EB Genesect. As far as I'm aware...

XY Suspect Testing Round 1 np: Michael Jackson - (extreme)Speed Demon (READ POST #1278)

What I'm trying to say is, that seems to be the go to argument for people who don't want him banned and it's a terrible one. Also keldeo/jellicent isn't really relevant because even if jellicent stops keldeo cold there are other things that walled it, water/fighting can't touch genesects...

XY Suspect Testing Round 1 np: Michael Jackson - (extreme)Speed Demon (READ POST #1278)

I really don't understand why people keep saying "just use heatran" to counter genesect. Isn't the whole point of banning not about things being broken, but about things over centralizing the meta game? Having to run heatran to be legitimately competitive restricts team building a lot. Obviously...

Dual-Core [OU Balanced Offense Team with Charizard-X!]

Tbh I kind of agree. I ran a bulkier variant that was jolly but with only 264 speed (used bulky gyara as a base), and I never really had problems. You should be coming in on something you can DD on anyways so it won't generally matter, and if your gonna run 252 spe/atk you probably are better...

Try swapping swords dance on breloom for rock tomb. Even Jolly you really aren't fast enough to take advantage of the boost without relying entirely on mach punch. Rock tomb hits his counters hard, and it slows down whatever comes in which can get you a 2HKO on things you normally can't.
