  1. UU Simple Questions Thread

I'm completely new to this tier/metagame and quite frankly I'm lost as to what to do to find my way. Any specific threads/articles I need to look at?
  2. General Introduce yourself!

Hello Smogon people! My name is Jarious, I'm 19 years old and currently a college student. I first dabbled in competitive play during 4th gen, but never really got serious about it. I did the Battling 101 program once and lost the tournament, and kind of never got to where I wanted to be...
  3. Your 1st Generation of Pokemon

Mine was Second Generation. I will never forget playing Pokemon Silver for the first time.
  4. Deoxys-S Tiering Discussion

I have to admit that Deoxys-S is annoying but not to the point of being broken. Sure, it's almost guaranteed to get up hazards or screens which in turn makes Hyper Offensive strategies easier to pull off, but I don't really see it as broken. It is easily dispatched due to its defensive stats and...
  5. Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - VGC edition

I want to participate in the Global Battle Union Autumn Friendly Tournament, but I've never played VGC. Where is a nice place for me to acquire more knowledge on VGC and practice it?
  6. Double Team and Minimize:Broken or Uncompetitive?

These two moves wouldn't make competitive Pokemon a game of luck because it already is a game of luck. Double Team and Minimize will make every Pokemon that learns either of those moves broken. Evasiveness is potentially the most dangerous stat once it is raised. It's hard to really say because...
  7. Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - VGC edition

Where is a good place for me to get more experience, practice, and tips for this metagame?
  8. Little Cup Stats - August 2011

Gastly is rising! And a lot of stuff is dropping that I want to use now....... I guess it is time to make a new LC team.
  9. (Un)Official Smogon University PO Stats -- August 2011

Wow Mienfoo really did climb. And my buddy Gastly really jumped. From #21 in June to #2 in August. My other close friend Stunky fell from #9 to #34....... poor guy.
  10. Bo staff?

Recently I purchased a bo-staff and I am beginning to learn the basics on how to exactly use it correctly. (holding it, figure 8, etc.) For anyone that has used one or has learned to use one: is it really a potent weapon? I can't help but be a little bit curious as to if these skills that I am...
  11. (MC) Middle Cup Tier

This tier is really cool because of zero weather. It's a little stallish but there are some very hard hitters there. Of course there are some Pokemon there that would never ever get used (Cascoon,Metapod, etc.) and there are some that are broken as broken can be (Chansey, Dusclops, Porygon 2...
  12. Research Week - Buneary, Lickitung, Snivy, and Venonat

Thank you, I didn't notice that I put 252. Venonat doesn't have too much going for it. A Physical set is probably as far as you can go with that it seems or probably even better another Eviolite set with status.
  13. Research Week - Buneary, Lickitung, Snivy, and Venonat

Lickitung @ Eviolite Ability: Cloud Nine EVs:196 HP/156 Def/156 Sp.Def Nature: Bold -Knock Off -Toxic -Dragon Tail -Wish An Eviolite set is pretty viable IMO. This one in particular needs some changing around. I couldn't really think of an awesome EV spread, and I'm sure there are much better...
  14. Research Week - Buneary, Lickitung, Snivy, and Venonat

Buneary @ Choice Scarf Ability: Limber EVs: 236 Atk/ 252 Spd Nature: Adamant - Return - Fire Punch - Bounce - Switcheroo That's what I came up with.....
  15. Little Combos

Does Ferroseed and Frillish work as well in Little Cup as Ferrothorn and Jellicent work in OU?
  16. Solid Rock (and Filter)

I've tried using Solid Rock on Rhyperior before and it takes super effective Physical hits surprisingly well. I have yet to test a Pokemon with Filter though.
  17. Pelipper

I've tried using a Pelipper in lower tiers. The Rain Dish one works surprisingly well.
  18. Breloom

I used to hate Breloom so much in 4th Gen, but now we have the gift of Poison Heal Gliscor that laughs at it.
  19. Buizel (Analysis) [GP: 2/2]

A Choice Band set is still viable Buizel @ Choice Band Ability: Swift Swim EVs: 236 Attack/36 Special Defense/ 236 Speed Nature: Jolly - Aqua Jet - Return - Brick Break - Ice Punch Aqua Jet is for priority, Return and Aqua Jet work well together. Brick Break is for Scraggy and Pawniard and...
