I just downloaded Minecraft, and right now, I feel like I wasted my money. I'm stuck underground with it raining and it's making Minecraft lag A LOT. I can't do anything about it. Any tips for making Minecraft run faster?

Minecraft isn't on the list. But I've been playing the free version (which sucks), and it runs smoothly. I Googled it and it says that if it can run the free one, it runs the beta one. Now I just gotta wait until I can download it. Thanks.
