Been out of the game for a while; what happened to X-Act's excellent defence calculator? http://users.smogon.com/X-Act/defense.html Is there something similar out there for maximising defences?

Maybe their marketing drones calculated they would get 17% more TV viewership if there was an underdog in the final? Maybe to avoid the possibility of a Liverpool vs Roma final and ensure one European heavyweight will be there? I don't know; I'm not saying they did rig it but I'm not naive...

If there's money to be made then I'm sure they will find a way to rig draws/referees/whatever (short of fixing matches themselves) to get a result they think will maximise interest/TV figures. FIFA and UEFA's track record of blatant corruption obviously doesn't help these theories go away.

Personally I feel Regi is great at one thing but Golem is much more unpredictable which makes it the more dangerous threat. With STAB EQ, Explosion, Sucker Punch and Sturdy (as well as Toxic and Rock Blast and the rest) it can run a lot of surprising sets that can catch the opponent out. Speedy...

Bakayoko is defo up there for worst player of the season. It's not just that he doesn't defend but he's also selfish and rampages up the field before shooting miles wide and he does this every game. I thought Conte was an amazing manager but now I'm having doubts coz I don't know how Bakayoko...

Yeah I don't understand transfers sometimes. Why did Conte want Batshuayi out when he was doing perfectly well? From what I've watched, the front three of Bats, Haz and Willian always looked better and more fluid (and scored more goals) than the front two of Morata and Hazard or when Hazard was...

So why have Chelsea bought Barkley... Is he better than Pedro or Willian who can't get get into the team? Is he better than Fabregas who can barely get into the team? In midfield they have Kante, Drinkwater and Bakayoko so I can't see much room for him there and he's more of an offensive player...

Yeah it just doesn't make sense. I agree Belotti, El Shaarawy and Insigne up front looks much more dangerous and you can just pack the rest of the 3-4-3 behind them with solid defensive players. It would be both more defensive and more creative than Gabbiadini, Parolo and Darmian lol. Doesn't...

Wenger thinks Wilshere is an offensive player, to my untrained eyes he looks like he should be an offensive player, but why do the last two England managers Southgate and Hodgeson and now big mouth Paul Merson insist he is a holding mid? Wilshere hates passing it long, loves to dribble past his...

De Bruyne has to be the best player to watch right now. His vision and range of passing this season is up there with the best I have ever seen; Zidane, Pirlo, Ozil-at-his-best type of passes. With that kind of accuracy with a powerful long range shot, he is basically the perfect CM right now...

I definitely much prefer Dier + Winks rather than Henderson. But Winks lacks experience and you could argue it would be unfair to throw a young player into such pressure. International football is basically continuous knockout football; in league football at least you get another chance after a...

You know you're scraping the barrel when England's best midfield pairing consists of two from Henderson, Dier and Winks... But somehow I actually am looking forward to the WC next year. There are some exciting young players from the likes of France, Spain and Brazil coming through. You never...

Yeah you definitely deserved to get something out of pretty much all of those games! City are looking unbelievably good right now, their passing is so fluid and you can tell every player is so ridiculously talented. But I still expect Utd to win the title, Mourinho will do what it takes to win...

If I have my Arsenal optimistic hat on then I'll say Arsenal for the title but if I'm being sensible then this is my prediction: Top 4: Man Utd Man City Arsenal Chelsea Bottom 3: West Brom Brighton Huddersfield (Honorable mentions to Watford, Stoke and Swansea) City have splurged a lot of...
