Fire Emblem Tactics Online

Edit: Just added a Shaman to my team...

I am thinking of making a team of 2 Shamans, 2 Adepts, Some physical unit (Shamans covering the magic, Adepts the physical), and a Cleric

I think it would be pretty viable since Magic is already very good since some people neglect to invest in RES...

Anyway the physical unit would be to eliminate any opponent that had some unit with a lot of RES... I would just have to make sure to make it pretty bulky while maintaining a decent amount of strength...

On a side note: This game is awesome

Ok I have never played an FE game before, so I have no idea what each stat is for, or what to spend base and growth stat points on.

Hp is obvious

Pow = attack/special attack

Spd = double attack (or so I was told)

Skl = hit percentage, or your accuracy (I think)

Def = defense from physical attack

Res = Defense from magical attacks

Luk = Your crit ratio, or how often you will get a critical hit

That should help you Minwu
So basically if you were making a Knight you might want to invest in Hp, Def, and Pow...
Or if you want to survive a few magic attacks you could also invest in Res

Think of it like ev'ing a pokemon

Also you can adjust percentages... so invest in the stats you want to increase at a higher rate

Lol... So am I the only one that thinks like distributing stats into units is like Ev'ing a pokemon? I find it helps make the process tremendously easier since it puts it into a familiar context.

I joined the battle you were in Minwu (as Chali) but then left cause no was doing anything.

Got a battle open if anyone's interested, put max level limit at 1 cause I just started though.

Ok, I'm on now. Looking to start playing, since I didn't get a chance to yesterday. I've already made my characters, but now I'm pretty much lost on where I'm suppose to go. Can anyone help me out?

Holy shit Minwu I never knew I was supposed to refresh the page, I am sorry.
Aquirri on your left click on one of the battle options.

Oh this is pretty gay

So apparently there are 39 level ups right? (0-20, and 1-20 after you promote)

These aren't like the Fire Emblem games. The level up bonuses are NOT random, but they're added up. So if you have a 50% stat boost, then every two levels you will gain one boost. So naturally this means you will lose out on one stat in the end.

So that means if you just went with round numbers the chances are you're going to be missing out on quite a few stat points.

I completely screwed over my lord, and since creating alts is illegal in the board, I'm pretty much stuck with it...

So yeah don't make the same mistake I did and make sure to optimize your %s and such :(

For anyone who wants a Female Mage -> Sage as their Lord, here are the calcs that I was going to use.

+2 HP
+2 Pow
+7% Pow
+12% Skill
+2 Speed
+12% Speed
+2 Def
+19% Def
+19% Res
+1% Luck

= 8 Bonus Stat, 70% Stat Growth.

43/30/23/30/21/30/18 at 20/20

Pretty much this lets you max POW/Speed/Res exactly at 20/20... and have decent stats elsewhere. It's a shame that you can't have too much HP or you'll end up missing everything (lol 18 skill max)

The reason I went through this is because of stat caps. As it stands my current lord will lose 3 POW and 1 Speed, points better used in her poor defenses. Meaning it's hardly optimal anyway.

Pretty much I found optimal numbers to go for considering 39 level ups to be at places like 59%, 57%, 54% 52%, 49%, 47%, 44%, etc... just multiply the percentage by 39 and see if that's the minimum percent you want. The thing is that powers of 5 are never seem optimal here.

Meaning that if you want to at least create new characters, you should keep this in mind so your characters are "optimal" - try not to waste stat points. It's not much like EVs as Kira was pointing out because of the existence of a stat cap.

So basically here's how you would calculate your own stats

Basically your final number in a given stat is

Stat = X + 19*(Unit % + Bonus %) + Promotion Bonus, where Stat is capped at 30, 60 if HP. X is your Pre-promotion stat, where

X = Base Stat + Z + 20 * (Unit % + Bonus %). X is capped at 20, 40 if HP. Z is your bonus point (0~2, 0,2 or 4 if HP)

You need to keep both in mind but just note that unless you have a ridiculous stat growth (like 65%) you will probably not cap out.
Keep in mind that the extra .5 whatever that didn't get used do carry over when you're promoted.

If you're too lazy to do these, just steal them from other people. Look at the "top" battlers and see their stat growths.

EDIT: Whoo, you can get your FETO account deleted... I guess I am starting from scratch ^_^;;

Also, what may be of some interest to people...

Classes that will "waste" at least one full stat point, even with NO investment in their high stat:
ALL Female Clerics promos (Pow)
Male Guard-General (Def)
Male Chaos Knight (Def)
Female Chaos Knight (Pow)

This, of course, will matter only if any of us stick with this game that long and it's not just a passing fad. :P Funny how all female Clerics have excessive Power growth. General and the Cleric promos (Sage, Bishop, Druid) are shared by other first-level classes, but Chaos Knight is pretty screwed in this.

Also, annoyingly, nothing can cap Luck.

ALL Female Clerics promos (Pow)

Clerics really have no real use in magic anyway. Early on they recover plenty with Bandage, and then they gain staff levels for even better staves to recover a lot. Only when they promote they'll be able to use their Mag for attacking.

I really enjoy this game but it begins to annoy me when people go AFK and I end up having to forfeight. So most of my units are low leveled.

Anyone else have this problem?

Allright, I know virtually nothing about FE, so Kira, thanks for that information!

I'm going to make my lord character today, any suggestions? I want something magic-ish. Mage/war mage, is that a good idea?

Also, should I spend my growth rate percentages in the stats of which I increased the base stats the most, or should I invest growth rate in the other stats?

Tangerine, are one or two stat points really gonna hurt that bad in the late game that we should restart now while we're not too high? (this is a legitimate question, not sarcastic)

It's not just one or two stat points (like Chaos Knights who naturally max Def or Pow by a point or two), it's more like 5+ Pow we're both over on our Lords. ;( I think my Lord is going over the cap on Pow by 8, plus Spd by 2, so yeah that'll be sort of significant later on.

Plus, we're both perfectionists apparently.

lol I edited an apostrophe
