ive just tested and im sure its completely random, and your number lies (or something used sand attack against you). i used it 21 times and throughtout it got random stats, but once a stat reaches +6, it doesnt get calculated into the mix. so if you get 3 attack boost, you'll have a 1/6 chance to get something instead of 1/7 since attack is maxed. after i had +6 in each stat, it kept showing that the attack failed.
Didn't think I'd be able to contribute something, but I guess I can.
Today I faced a friend of mine on Wi-Fi. He had two Pokemon left, a Glameow and a Torterra. His Glameow used Assist, and then used In Fight (Close Combat in English, I think). The only Pokemon that knew In Fight was his Staraptor, which I had fainted. So Assist does use fainted Pokemon's moves in D/P.
I do not know what the Poke Radar does. When I used it in the grass, some grass spots moves and some shining. I do not know what that means...Can you tell me what does it actully do?

thank marriland!The Pokeradar
is a useful gadget that you can use in any field on the world map to help
locate wild Pokemon, including Pokemon that you haven't yet encountered or
wouldn't normally be in the area without using the Pokeradar.
To use the Pokeradar, enter a field of grass (without riding the Bicycle) and
use the Pokeradar. Some of the grass will then start to shake, and some will
show signs of rustling in it (by flashing, kind of). Walking into either of
these patches will trigger a fight against a wild Pokemon, possibly a Pokemon
new to the area, although walking into the rustling grass will have a higher
chance of encountering better Pokemon. If you defeat the Pokemon or capture
it, there will be more rustling grass outside of the battle, up to 2
additional times after first using the Pokeradar. Running away from a fight
will not allow you to encounter any more shaking grass without using the
Pokeradar again.
I'm pretty sure they are set now. :/OK, I have a question which I think isn't so simple, so I'll ask it here.
I've just caught a Palkia, with my early lv40 pokés, got the 8th badge and went for Valor (?) Cavern, to catch Azelf. However, he was too powerful for my pokémons (Nasty Plot+Uproar=Dead Roselia; Nasty Plot+Future Sight=Dead Empoleon, so no), and I ended up losing the battle. But, seeing he was still there, in the cave, I saw no problem saving the game. That would be good, because I'd not need to actually catch it to obtain the National Dex.
But now I'm kinda worried. Azelf's IVs and Nature were set for that first battle, but I lost. Will it keep all of them set when I fight him again, or will they be randomized, just like I've never fought him?
Not only Azelf, but I ended up losing to Uxie :/ But that was on purpose, because I was planning just catch them after the E4...
I've read on nintendo's player guide that Shoal Salt recovers a small amount of HP each turn.
I don't know if it already worked that way or how much HP it recovers per turn.
Could someone test this out?
Wow, are you serious. That's awesome. I'm telling this to my firend who also died to Azlef right now. ^^Oh, and I'm absolutely happy to inform you that the infamous Azelf which defeated me got its IVs and Nature randomized when I battled him again twice. So, I'm still looking for my future Timid Azelf :]
