Most common/efficient team found on Netbattle?

I've been curious about Pokemon lately because it seems there are a ton of kids on my block (around elementary/middle school) who like to play it. Thinking of something fun to do this summer, I picked up Pearl the other day and am about to finish it. I started doing some research on the best team to beat these kids with, and I found out that the Pokemon battling scene is real deep, and I'm only at the tip of the iceberg.

I learned all about EV's, and IV's, and threat lists, but then I realized that these kids on my block have no idea what the word metagame means. So I was wondering, what would be considered the ultimate team if there were no threats? Most of these kids use their favorites and a few legendaries. I am also learning myself and I'd like to be able to test out a team and experience battling locally before I move onto WiFi/Netbattle.

So again, I'm asking what's the most common and efficient team found on NetBattle? I would not like to use ubers and legendaries. I know there aren't really standards yet with DP so I'd feel safer using tiers already tested and proven in the previous generation. I can pick up the Emerald version to get the Pokemon that aren't easy/not available to obtain in Pearl. I believe that if I bring such a team and pit it against kids, I'll rule the neighborhood.

I know this might be a lot to ask, but I'm hoping that I can find a team to start working on to take on the neighborhood. Thanks in advance.

Gyarados and Electrivire can tear through pretty much anything after being setup.

Also, checking the D/P Analyses section would be a good place to start

It's not really difficult, it can be done. However, it does take time for everything to get dissolved, so lurking around and reading a couple of the articles here would work. After you feel that you are ready, then you can possibly make a RMT.

There isn't really a common/efficient team to be honest. Generally, if you're battling against people who know nothing about IVs and EVs, you could just make a team by sticking 6 standards that work... even moderately decent together, get good IVs on them, and then EV train them (Then beat them with it pretty easily).

Now if you're going to try for more complexness, you could try to have a strategy, or something that makes your team balanced.

There are a lot of pokemon, and a lot of combinations - so honestly, it's hard to say "the most efficient", since every team has a weakness; the important thing is, to not have a huge weakness.
Common phrase being - You are 6-0ed by Gyarados.

But if you want some suggestions, read the RMTs like LocoUser said, and gather some ideas. Eventually, post it (Though read the stickied topics in the RMT section before posting).

I swear I could pwn the people I play the game with, with ANY pokemon. Heck some of them don't even know the difference between Spatt an Att. Beating Anybody unawair of EVs, IVs, or the benifit of using Stat raising moves is easy as pie.
Any old pokemon should beat them. I personally recomend Alakazam or dragonite or something

Not on NetBattle / to be released Competitor. There are more experienced battlers, and if you have flaws in your team, the other person can exploit him to his advantage. It's not as simple as "oh, let me take a Dragonite with Ice Beam and call that a Salamence counter." Far from that.

Lol, this is kind of sad. You should just play on Wi-fi, really, it's kind of pathetic that you're so dead set on making a perfect team so that you can destroy some clueless little kids. Winning 6-0 against someone who doesn't know what they're doing is not challenging or satisfying, and you're not going to learn anything from it or get any better by fighting them. Why bother?

Be fair. Demolishing kids at a game that was, initially, designed for their pleasure is the best thing a person can do in life. Well, short of cheating while doing it. I liken playing kids at pokemon to the analogy of beating a crippled 6 year old girl at a 100 meter dash but also pushing them over at the start. (the push over at the start= internet research in this case)

No greater joy can be forged than making a small child cry as you lord your greatness over them.

...I'm kidding.

You should watch out for little kids with teams of 6 ubers. Brute force does a lot. If you play a person who doesn't know the competitive aspects of pokemon, you may run into some weird things, like Groudon's carrying solarbeam and such.

As much as I'd like for you to be assisted in your quest to 'rule the neighborhood', what you're basically asking here is 'what is the ultimate team', which is both based on opinion and non-existent.

If you want help making a team, make one yourself and post it in the RMT forum for a rate. The discussion threads and the Analysis forum can help you with specific pokemon. This is mostly about NetBattle which is an RBYGSCRSE simulator, so I'm not totally sure why you're posting about it here expecting things to have stayed the same since the third generation anyway. Locking this.
