My Dream Team

hydreigon.jpg

Hydreigon: Modest
Item: Life Orb
252 Special Attack
252 Speed
4 HP

Surf
Dark Pulse
Dragon Pulse
Earth Power

My main pokes for special attacks. He will almost always be the lead on the team. His purpose is to hit hard and fast. Special Attack and Speed are maximized so he can cause considerable damage and make sure he's the first one attacking. Life Orb gives him the extra power boost. Both of the Pulse moves give him strong, reliable STAB moves to deal with many common threats. Surf and Earth Power are used for the extra coverage for Steel Types and for taking out Ground and Fire threats, protecting my Scizor and Infernape.

infernape.jpg

Infernape: Jolly
Item: Focus Sash
252 Attack
252 Speed
4 Special Defense

Flare Blitz
Close Combat
Earthquake
U-Turn

Fast and powerful. He is the heart of the team and has versatility to balance the team out. Bred for speed and power, he uses his strong STAB moves to hit quickly and deal massive damage/death to common threats. Earthquake has high base power and is used to deal with annoying electric pokes. U-Turn is used for getting out of there if the situation gets rough. Focus Sash lets him survive any OHKOs so he can keep on fighting.

scizor.jpg

Scizor: Adamant
Item: Life Orb
252 Attack
248 HP
8 Speed

Swords Dance
X-Scissor
Brick Break/Superpower
Bullet Punch

Comes in with a Swords Dance, then hits em with a Bullet Punch. Scizor is typically the finisher of the team, although he will sometimes lead and end up wiping out a whole team. X-Scissor provides a strong STAB move and Brick Break/Superpower deals with those nasty Steel Types. Attack is maximized with EVs and Life Orb so Bullet Punch is always hitting strong even without a Swords Dance. He also gets a nice HP boost with the EVs so he can feel a little safer when he's dancing. After initial setup, Scizor is the most deadly force on the team.

Haxorus: Adamant
Item: Choice Scarf
252 Attack
252 Speed
4 HP

Outrage
Earthquake
Brick Break/Superpower
Dual Chop

Deadly. His incredible speed and powerful attack make him my top Physical Sweeper. Focusing on power and speed, the EVs and Choice Scarf makes sure he outspeeds almost anything. Outrage is his go to move with Earthquake taking advantage of his ability and eliminating Electric threats to Skarmory. Brick Break/Superpower deals with the Ice threats and Steel Types while Dual Chop breaks substitutes and rips up others Focus Sash.

gengar.jpg

Gengar: Timid
Item: Focus Sash
252 Special Attack
252 Speed
4 HP

Shadow Ball
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast
Destiny Bond

Quick and powerful. When Hydreigon isn't holding it down, Gengar is the fast and furious special sweeper. He deals some nice damage with Shadow Ball and provides neutral coverage. Thunderbolt deals with the Water threats that seem to wall my team at times. Focus Blast takes out Ice threats letting my dragons have some breathing room. Destiny Bond is thrown in there just in case he meets a foe that he can't beat. If he goes down, he takes them with him. Focus Sash makes sure he stays in the battle after a hard hit.

skarmory.jpg

Skarmory: Impish
Item: Rocky Helmet
252 HP
140 Defense
20 Speed
96 Attack

Roost
Whirlwind
Brave Bird
Spikes

Spiked defensive wall. When Infernape gets in trouble, he U-Turns it out of there and Skarmory comes out to play. Skarmory is typically thrown into battle when my other pokes are in trouble. My powerful wall can not only take a hit but also give one. He can take quite a beating and when he's getting low on health, Roost is there. If he encounters trouble, Whirlwind gets rid of any threats to him after a Spikes set up and Brave Bird is there to lay down the pain. Rocky Helmet punishes other pokes for daring to touch Skarmory. The defensive powerhouse of my team that stalls and hurts.

So there's my team. I'm open to any and all suggestions to improve my team. Moves colored in red are ones that I'm still trying to figure out or am stuck on deciding between. Thanks guys!

Hello.

Cool team, I really like the mix between the presence of the offensive powerhouses combined with the pwoer of some very strong defensive walls, it's a great strategy. Anyway, the team seems very well put together, and hopefully with this rate, it can improve, so let's get right down to it. First off, I would like to suggest changing Hydreigon to a Mixed Attacker set over your current one. With the introduction of BW2, Hydreigon acquired Superpower, a very powerful move, while also having Earthquake, and with it's very high Special Attack and quite respectable Attack, it's an amazing Mixed Attacker for your team, so I'd try it out. Moving on, I would change your Scizors EV spread to one of 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe over your current one. The aftermentioned EV spread allows Scizor some threats that may otherwise outspeed it. While staying on the topic of Scizor, I would highly suggest using Bug Bite over your current choice of X-Scissor. Bug Bite allows you to hit some slower walls in the game such as Slowbro and Celebi (if it doesn't carry HP Fire). Last, but not least, I suggest running a spread of 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe over your current one. The most important stat on the EV spread I just mentioned is the 24 Speed EV's, as it allows him to outspeed the not too common Max Speed Wobbuffet. While on the subject of Skarmory, I'd use either Leftovers or Shed Shell over Rocky Helmet. Leftovers keeps you in good health and gives you passive recovery along with Roost. If you go with Shed Shell, you can switch out every time Magnezone tries and trap you. Well, that's all I have to say for now. I hope my advice helped just a bit. Have fun and good luck with your team!

Before I get on to rating the team itself, I have a couple notes about your formatting--these will make your RMT easier to read and rate, which should help you get more advice on it.
It would be great if you could provide a quick introduction at the beginning of your RMT. Say whether the team is primarily offensive or defensive (or a mix), what kind of help you're looking for most, what the goal of the team is, etc.
Your set formatting is a little strange. You're missing abilities, and it's somewhat difficult to read (skarmory's EVs, for example). A good formatting to use might look like this:
Starmie @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Calm Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Psyshock
- Scald

I agree with dr. ciel that mixed hydreigon is perhaps a better option--it's extremely hard to wall.

I suggest switching infernape and hydreigon's roles in the team--with sash, nape is a good mon to lead with. I suggest putting Stealth Rock > EQ on nape--it's almost obligatory on most teams, and nape, as a lead, is a great mon to use it. I'd also use Fire Blast or Overheat, since flare blitz is kinda defeating the purpose of focus sash. In that case, the extra 4 EVs should go into SpA.

Agreeing with dr ciel again, Bug Bite is better than x-scissor in every way due to technician. While a bulkier EV spread is viable, it's best on a set with roost and your set is mroe all-out offensive, so I'd go with the more offensive EV spread.

I'm a little hesitant at seeing haxorus as your scarfer--base 97 speed is just too low to reliably check pokemon that may be at +1 or more, especially since a lot have base 100 speed. perhaps you might want to consider CS garchomp. It can run a set of Outrage / Dual Chop / EQ / Stone Edge or Fire Blast that accomplishes much of the same as haxorus does, while trading a bit of power for speed. With SE, this also revenges +1 volcarona, which could cause your team a lot of trouble otherwise.

Gengar looks good, maybe use HP [ice] > tbolt to hit dragons? Tbolt has use against water-types though I guess.

On Skarm, a better EV spread is 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe -- Atk EVs are unnecessary (and tbh you don't even really need the speed since wobb is so rarely used and max speed even more so. Feel free to go 252 / 252 / 4). I'd go Leftovers personally, but if you're worried about zone you can go with Shed Shell instead.

Hope my comments helped and GL with the team!

Hi mampudia1310

This is a solid team that can easily break down an opponent's team. First off, I would like to say I agree with the change to a Mixed Hydreigon that was proposed in the above rates. Now looking at your team, a major threat to it is Quiver Dance Volcarona. Volcarona has many opportunities to set up against your team including against Infernape, Scizor, Hydreigon after it has used Draco Meteor, and Haxorus looked into Brick Break. After a Quiver Dance boost, Volcarona outspeeds your entire team and can pretty much run through it with Fire Blast and Bug Buzz. Dragon Dance Salamence is another potent threat to your team who outspeeds everything after a DD and can fire off Outrages while using Fire Blast for Skarmory and Scizor. Lastly, nothing in your team can easily take Hurricanes from Tornadus-T so he will have many chances to come in and fire them off, causing you to sacrifice a Pokemon every time. For these threats, I suggest replacing Infernape with a Choice Scarf Terrakion with a moveset of Close Combat / Stone Edge / Earthquake / Rock Slide. Scarf Terrakion can outspeed all of the aforementioned threats even when Volcarona and Salamence are at +1 and eliminate them with a Stone Edge. If you are afraid of the miss, you can opt to use the slightly more reliable Rock Slide that also has a nice flinch chance. Close Combat is a powerful STAB that eliminates the Steel types Infernape currently does and packs more or a punch due to Terrakion's higher Attack stat. Earthquake in the third slot provides some additional coverage, namely against Toxicroak who resists both of Terrakion's STABs. If you opt to makes this chance, you will not need a Choice Scarf on Haxorus anymore so you can change the item to a Choice Band, significantly increasing Haxorus' wallbreaking capabilities. I would also make Superpower the attack over Brick Break as with a Choice Band, it is almost a guaranteed OHKO on standard Ferrothorns with 252 HP / 88 Def and a positive Defense nature.

Now for some smaller changes. On Scizor, Bug Bite should be used over X-Scissor. Due to Technician, Bug Bite is actually stronger than X-Scissor, the former has a base power of 135 while the latter has a base power of 120. Since you are using a Life Orb Offensive Scizor, a better EV spread on it would be 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd with an Adamant nature. The Speed investment helps you outspeed slower walls such as Celebi and Specially Defensive Heatran so you can hit them for Super Effective damage with a coverage move instead of having to resort to Bullet Punch. Finally, on Skarmory replace Spikes with Stealth Rock. Stealth Rock is more important in this metagame where many threats are weak to them such as the aforementioned Volcarona and Salamence. As Kidogo memtioned, an EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef is more efficient on Skarmory as he does not need the Attack investment.

Hope I helped and good luck with your team!

Set:

Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd

tl;dr
Infernape ----> Choice Scarf Terrakion

X-Scissor on Scizor ----> Bug Bite
Scizor's EV Spread ----> 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
