Hello Smogoners. My name is Nozzle and I would like to present you this team as my 200nd post celebration on Smogon. I had a lot of success with this team and I havent found any gaping holes in it. A while back, when I was bored and Smogon was down. I started to build with Ashley11 since we basically didn't have anything better to do. The team turned out much better than I ever expected and has even won against some top players. Enough rambling, let's take a look at the team, shall we?
(This is btw my first RMT and I’m foreign so please forgive my possible horrible grammar)

We started off the team with a LO Zebstrika, something I had never used before and we thought was a very underrated threat in the metagame. With Volt Switch it could easily keep momentum against more offensive teams which rule this metagame. Because of this we chose something that has this same quality.

With Expert Belt Primeape with Encore. Locking the opponent in a setup move and U-Turning out to the appropriate mon and get a ton of momentum gives so much satisfaction. Is not the strongest out there but we felt it deserved a place on the team. After adding Primeape Ashley and I both went another way with the team. Building like we felt. Quickly mentioning my next mon on the team and leaving.

Pivot Musharna was screaming to be used on this team. I couldn’t find any reason NOT to use it. Having something to tank hits while still gaining momentum with Baton Pass was an ideal fit for this team. Next I needed something that can actually manage to sweep lategame.

Swellow gave the team a fast nuke to sweep lategame. With Primeape on the team, removing Steels and Rocks shouldn’t be that big of a problem and it’s access to U-turn basically sealed it’s spot on the team. Next I felt like I needed a spinner since the team was stuffed full of moves that switch you out. Armaldo was always too weak and too slow for me. Wartortle was a momentum killer.

Torkoal was the best choice here. Having nice bulk, spreading burns through Lava Plume, Yawn for momentum and rocks are always nice. For my last mon I wanted something else to sweep lategame. The choice was pretty obvious for me.

Great power, nice coverage, amazing speed. Oh, it also has Spikes. Scolipede seemed a great choice as a last mon. And the team did very well on the ladder. But there were a few things that bothered me.

When actually using the team I figured not having a Choice Scarf user was problematic and Scarf Primeape didn't do it for me either. I replaced it with Scarf Haunter and it did wonders for me. Spikes were replaced by Sub on Pede's set since I almost never use them and Substitute was less situational.
On to the team!

Musharna @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 SDef
Bold Nature
IVs: null Atk
- Baton Pass
- Moonlight
- Heal Bell
- Psychic
Musharna is probably one of the more, if not, the most vital Pokémon on my team. Without it, my team would fall apart quite easily to more bulky sweepers as half of my team can’t take a hit. At all. It is my wonderglue for the team basically. Standard Pivot set is basically made for this team. Baton Pass is great for momentum and a great “fuck you” to damn skunks that try to pursuit you. Heal Bell is amazing for this team. It revives my mons basically since e.g a paralyzed/burned Scolipede is worthless. Zero Attack IV’s for confusion/foul play shenanigans.

Haunter (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Timid Nature
IVs: null Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
- Thunderbolt
Ah, Haunter. I love you so much. It’s one of the more underappreciated scarfers in the tier but it does it’s job so goddamn well. Without it, Gorebyss runs rampant over my team. Which I noticed back when I had Primeape. It’s set is self-explanatory. Thunderbolt over Hidden Power Ground because you don’t need coverage if you are locked in. Electric is a much better offensive type too. Trick for stuff like Lickilicky that want’s to come in.

Zebstrika (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Lightningrod
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
This mon. The team started with him and is one of my more important members. It’s basically a catch all revenge killer that can switch moves. Volt Switch. Volt Switch. Volt Switch. I always loved this move so much. Zebstrika here also makes great use out of it. Because it’s power is not that amazing, semi-bulky things will often come in on it and take a Volt Switch to the face and thus, an unfavorable match up. Overheat is for Serperior and Scolipede. The Special Attack drops don’t really matter since it will Volt Switch out anyway.

Swellow @ Flame Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Facade
- Quick Attack
- U-turn
The cleaner. Swellow is, Swellow. There’s not a lot to say about it. It works very well on my team due to getting in quite easy, which you can thank Musharna for. With U-turn, I can easily keep the offensive pressure on the switch-ins. It is just an amazing sweeper.
oj2mb4.png

Scolipede @ Life Orb
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
Everyone knows that this centipede is one of the more, if not, the most threatening mons right now. I used to have Spikes over Substitute because I thought I would force a lot of switches with this team, but I almost never saw myself using it since I found myself being more comfortable with out right attacking. Substitute is great on Scolipede and it’s not a common move for some reason which is why it can surprise people trying to burn/para/sleep Pede. Scolipede is all in all just a damn good sweeper which is feared by everyone.

Torkoal @ Leftovers
Trait: White Smoke
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature
IVs: null Atk
- Rapid Spin
- Lava Plume
- Yawn
- Stealth Rock
Torkoal, is actually a great fit on this team. Rapid Spin spins, DUH. Lava Plume is great for spreading burns and rocks are just damn amazing on a team that forces switches as much as this one. Yawn, where do I start? This move, is so good. It makes Torkoal, believe it or not, gain a lot of momentum. Look at this situation right here. Something comes in to set up. You Yawn them. Opponent switches out since they don’t want one of their mons put to sleep. You switch to either Swellow or Zebstrika on the same turn and U-turn/Volt Switch. This makes Torkoal a great pivot for my team.

The team hunts constantly for momentum and pressures the opponent at all times. Which is the way I like to play. The team has done pretty well for me. I don’t know if there are better options for some of my Pokemon, but if you can think of one, please respond below. The EV spreads need some work since they are either just maxed or ripped from Smogon. Suggestions would be appreciated! Please Luvdisc if you like my team :)

One last fabulous look

Hiya bud.

Based on the general low damage output of this team (besides Swellow with Guts activated), I don't think that the use of non-Spikes Scolipede would come out as the most efficient way to go about this team. While Scolipede generally won't get off much on its own due to its suicidal nature offensively, even just getting off one layer of Spikes on its own is really beneficial because of this team's tendency of forcing a lot of things out from your offensive Pokemon and because of the amount of ways that you have to provide steady momentum for this team. Therefore I think you should switch consider switching back to Spikes.

Otherwise I don't really have too much to comment on, but I see a major weakness to Shell Smash Carracosta and Swords Dance Samurott. After some prior damage from Musharna (which is bound to happen one way or another since this team appears to rely on Musharna a lot to take on physically-oriented revenge killers like Primeape or Tauros, to prevent from consistently getting picked off), both are able to clean up fairly nicely since your only other pivot is something that they both destroy and the remainder of your team is quite frail, giving them a hard time taking boosted Aqua Jets. To fix this, I think that you should consider making use of Choice Scarf Jynx over Haunter, as Dry Skin allows you to bypass Aqua Jet, giving you a much more reliable way of revenge killing the two. Jynx is also able to perform most of the same roles to that of Scarf Haunter most of the time, so you don't lose much utility if at all.

Hope this helps.
