A sandstorm twist (please rate)

Team:
  1. Jirachi
  2. Skarmory
  3. Gengar
  4. Vaporeon
  5. Dugtrio
  6. Tyranitar
Looks fairly normal but has a few twists

Lead Jirachi:
item:choice scarf
nature: Jolly
ability: serene grace
evs: 252 attack 176 speed, 80 hp
moves:
  1. Trick
  2. Thunder wave
  3. Iron head
  4. U-turn
The best lead set for any pokemon I have used. There is a move for almost every other lead pokemon and with the mass of suicide leads such as Azelf and Aerodactyl, this Jirachi can find itself hampering many of the most popular leads in the current metagame. The most common suicide leads, Azelf and Aerodactyl, are both cleanly 2HKOed by Iron Head, and with Jirachi's Serene Grace booting Iron Head's flinch rate, this means that 60% of the time these leads won't have the chance to lay down their Stealth Rock, and the remainder of the time, they won't be able to do anything otherwise such as attack, lay down a screen, or explode, which jirachi resists. Against slower leads such as Tyranitar, Hippowdon, and Bronzong.

Trick will significantly reduce their usefulness by hampering them with a Choice Scarf that is useless to them. After Tricking the scarf, or later in the game, Jirachi is free to thunder wave, crippling the choice scarf holder and other pokemon, whilst allowing me to paraflinch. U-Turn is excellent as a last move to scout or to escape from Magnezone should the need arise, it is also useful late game to continue scouting and is excelent for getting dugtrio in play. My last option U-turn is also for infernape and heatran leads, and alows me to switch to vaporeon to counter.

This Jirachi 6-0 an uber abuser, with an iron head sweep, though I don't think Jirachi should be classed as uber as Jirachi has a limited movepool, so is quite predictable, either calm mind or flinching and being banned from OU has nothing to do with a pokemons ability in the uber tier, Jirachi is also easier to counter than Latios and Garchomp. So I have either choice scarfed a slow lead, or killed there lead, next step is to switch out by using U-turn, either straight away, or after using trick and I switch out and go to scarmory if all is going well ...

physical wall Skarmory:
item: leftovers
nature: impish
ability: keen eye
evs: 252 hp, 176 defence 16 speed, 64 attack
moves:
  1. Stealth Rock
  2. roost
  3. wirlwind
  4. Brave bird
don't shout, it is a copy off smogon (again), with little change. I use stealth rock as soon as possible then wirlwind to scout the opoents team, whilst causing residuel damadge, spikes is alright but I often find scarmory only has one turn free until a counter switches in, and it much safe to use stealth rock. Roost is good, great against thunderpunch and ice punch as healing now gets two bonuses as it shed you flying ability for the rest of the turn. Brave bird, is in by suggestion from Clyderw and has worked really wel, the extra power is great and the recoil doesn't matter as attacking is a last resort thing for skarmory. He is my phazer with wirlwind, which is great, not blocked by soundproof, can ruin set up sweeps and and has more pp than roar, it is also useful in the early game to shuffle the oponents pack and reveal his cards, which help my choices in the late game, like what move to get locked into, or what pokemon does the oponent have to switch to. If a rapid spinner switches in, they will feel unthreatened by scarmor and use rapid spin, they are easy to see comming as most rapid spinners are mainly used because they can use rapid spin. This makes it safe to switch in ....

Spin blocker Gengar:
item: choice specs
nature: timid
ability: levitate
evs: 252 speed, 252 special attack, 4 hp
moves:
  1. shadow ball
  2. thunderbolt
  3. Hiden power ice
  4. Focus blast
He has a massive variety of uses on my team, firstly he is my rapid spin blocker, yes not just dusknoir and rotom forms can spin block, when I have set up stealth rock, it would be very anoying if a 1 turn move got rid of them so I switch in Gengar, he is capable with choice specs of getting a OHKO on the four common rapid spinners, starmie, donphan, forretress and tentacruel (tentacruel I'm not sure about max HP and special defence, but he does on 0 spe def and Hp evs. He second main use as a switch in for T-tar, he is imune to T-tar's main exployted weaknesses, ground and 4x super effective fighting. He also four times resist bug andother of T-tar's weaknesses (which people seem to forget about becuase he is part rock, or are affraid of super effective rock attacks) and with thunderbolt can revenge kill the water types that threaten T-tar and other members of my team. Hp ice is for the dragons and I lack ice moves on this team, focus blast is there for complete type coverage, though I only use as a last resort and it does hit more than it misses (aparently).

His third main role is as a special sweeper, and well he fills that role with choice specs very well, with plenty of speed and special attack, he often goes for what I call a shadow ball sweep, OHKOing anything that doesn't resist it, and gives cresselia a nasty 2hko, and duckoir can be taken by suprise with a OHKO after stealth rock if he has no special defence ev's and is the classic physical wall.

Ok so after the rapid spinner is down we are into the middle stage of the game and it comes down to prediction, countering and staying healthy, cue vaporeon ...

Wish passer vaporeon:
item: leftovers
nature: bold
ability: water absorb
evs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spe
moves:
  1. wish
  2. protect
  3. surf
  4. hp electric
Everyone knows this set.

Wish is Vaporeon's best contribution to its fellow team members. With its bulky build and great typing, Vaporeon passes Wish quite easily compared to most other Wishers. Wish is especially invaluable in a fast-paced offensive metagame. Vaporeon can heal my team members with no form of recover, he can also heal my dugtrio's life orb recoil, which racks up and he can draws in the elctric types for dugtrio to revenge kill. Also, Wish cushions the blow when you switch to a counter. The possibilities and benefits are endless.

Protect is a must for keeping Vaporeon healthy to keep passing Wishes; otherwise, Vaporeon won't survive any would-be 3HKO move. Of course, Protect can be used for scouting purposes and surviving an Explosion.

Surf is the obligatory reliable STAB move that keeps Metagross, Skarmory, Infernape, and Heatran at bay. The last moveslot has several useful options. Hidden Power Electric coupled with Water Absorb makes Vaporeon one of the best counters to Gyarados. Vaporeon thus solves my infernape and gyrados weakness. When vaporeon comes out we are usually a few stages in and may have come in after t-tar to absorb and counter the water type, in this stage there are many low hp pokemon who need trapping and destroying, I also need someone to switch into on electric attacks, but who? ...

Revenge killer Dugtrio:
item: Life orb
nature: Jolly
ability: arena trap
evs: 252 attack , 252 speed, 4 Hp
moves:
  1. Earthquake
  2. stone edge
  3. Succer punch
  4. aerial ace
I was thinking, I am unable to switch in and resist an electric attack, so I need a ground type, I also need a revenge killer, now who is the fastest ground type and the best revenge killer in the game, dugtrio win's no contest, he switches in traps the half dead pokemon and kills it, with life orb I can kill a fast counter with succer punch, it's as easy as that and very anoying if your the oponent. He can't trap flyers or levitators, but he wouldn't want to as they resist his stab. EQ is standard for power, stone edge is also for power over rock slide as dugtrio needs as much power as he can get with his rather pitiful attack stat. Succer punch is for anyone who tries to go priority on me, helps me hit alakazam and go first, has more power than night slash and it gives me a priority user to take out sub salac reversal pokemon. Aerial gives me complete type coverage and lets me hit the grass type supereffectively, it's main use is for brelloom and heracross, though I don't use him if brelloom has a sub up.

He is very useful in my team, credit to diodagravion, for telling me to keep him, other options. He is fine with a choice band as he just switches in revenge kills then switches out and with life orb the passive damadge from spikes and stealth rock can KO my dugtrio. The ev's mean he can speed tie base 120's.

Now dugtrio often invites in walls, so I need a wall breaker and all credit again to aeroblactyl for suggesting boah to me, it has worked so well so here he is the centre of my team ...

Fear%20Tyranitar.png

Tyranitar (the boah):
item: leftovers
nature: brave
ability: sandstream
evs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 192 Sp.Atk
moves:
  1. substitue
  2. crunch
  3. fire blast
  4. focus punch
Boah my wall breaker, and a great sweeper of sorts with a substitute up. This mixed set is great for walls, it struggles on slowking, he resist's my focus punch and can wall my crunches, but dugtrio finishes him well anyway. This set is realy workign for my team, even scarmory stay's in and takes a fire blast. I chose fireblast because of the awsome type coverage and it boast a OHKO on max hp, 0 spe def skarmory, which the smogon thingy seems to have forgotten about. He comes out early game subs up and breaks an incomming wall and sets up sandstorm, which helps wall breaking aswell.

I only realised this when i made this set, fire and dark have good type coverage (as houndoom users will know), dark and fighting have great type coverage (as most people know), and fighting and fire have great type coverge (infernape). This set creates a trinty of type combinations that work briallaintly on this team and give perfect type coverage in the OU metagame, even if UU pokemon are used. Boah also forces switches, so it is easy to set up a substitute, and often invites in physical walls, most notably scamory and forretress, and the occasional metagross, fire blast is so much fun, and if I have used substitute on the switch then I can easily beat metagross.

The ev's allow focus punch to get the OHKO on defensive blissey and things, whislt maximising my defencive capablilites. The nature lowers my speed so I am slower and can get up a sub up, then focus punch behind 101 substitues. This set is great with vaporeon wish support, all credit to aerblactyl who gave me the idea for boah and vaporeon, best suggestion and stills baffles people.

Any questions on any pokes please state. I'm new to smogon so any changes might need a bit of explanation for me to understand. I've just added pictures :) . If you have a jolly jirachi with good Iv's I would be interested in trading as my current one has bad Iv's, his attack sucks. Thanks for reading please rate, even to say that my team sucks and I'm a stupid newbie who had got it all wrong, because all comments are appreciated, most suggestions are tested and credit will be given if an idea works well, as you may have seen.

Hi,
Could you please post the Evs as values. So instead of max Attack and Speed, 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP or something like that.
Thanks

By the way, heatproof on bronzong?
I suggest Levitate, as it completely eliminates one of his weaknesses.

You might want to run Brave Bird on Skarmory over Fly for more power. The recoil doesn't matter because you have roost.

If I were you, I would put some EVs in speed for Tyranitar. Take most of the ones in special defense and put them into speed is what I suggest, because Sandstorm boosts Ttars Special Defense by 50% any way. Or a change in berry, if you don't want to do that, you don't need custap because you already have endure.

I've switched bronzong to levitate, should I swap scarmory for dusknoir as he has not been working so well, dusknoir can block rapid spin, though i'll lose my spikes. My new T-tar has now got 252 attack, 252 speed, 6hp. I've now posted ev's as values, thanks for the help. What do I do about my fire weakness? and why do other people say "bump".

glad you metioned cradily, I was thinking about the monster, but where? and what set, and what use does he serve, the more I thought about the less I wanted him, he also has a nasty ice and fighting weakness, so I'm saying no. Any help is appreciated. What are people thoughts on a sub punching dusknoir over skarmory?

We're going to be making subtle changes here.

First off, that is a horrible Tyranitar set. Atrocious. Horrifying. The fact that you can even post something like that showed that we have failed as a community. Turn that shit into a Boah wall breaker set. The issue with this team is that it can easily get stalled. We slap that set on, and you can pretty much call yourself set against stall teams.

Second of all, let's get rid of the Life Orb on Scizor, no need for it to ruin it's health on SR switch in's and promptly doing 10% on the switch out to itself. Leftovers is fine because when you do attack with something else, you'll have Swords Dance boosts behind it.

You have a pretty atrocious Gyarados weakness. The severity of this weakness is astronishingly retarded. Let's change some shit around. We're going to add a Vaporeon in here. Vaporeon can cure that water weakness your team hates to face, and provides Wish support, making things last longer. We're also going to slap Stealth Rock over Fly on Skarmory. We can now remove Aerodactyl completely.

Now we do need a lead. I'd like Bronzong there, where while it falls to Infernape/Heatran, it does defeat Tyranitar, Mamoswine and Metagross leads. I'd probably run a Trick set of some sort to saved as a later usage. Of course Bronzong would be running mainly support moves for you to take more damage.

u have a big infenape weakness. a infernape with fire blast/close combat/HP ice/nasty plot would sweep your team. You can get a tentacruel or starmie. they can rapid spin and put down toxic spikes(tentacruel)

I currently use latias revenge kill gyrados, but i do need a counter, vaporeon is a good idea, but I'm not sure. Bronzong is pretty pathetic and adds nothing to my team, so if anyone goes it should be him. I like tentacruel, with toxic spikes, spikes, stealth rock and sandstorm, there will be allot of residuel damadge, and tentacruel can counter infernape. But I'm thinking dusknoir instead to rapid spin block. Need help on this one.

I'm going boah with t-tar, neaver thought of boah before. though t-tar does work, everyone h8's his set, but after one salac boost he reaches 333 speed, enough to outspeed most counters, with a d-d up aswel he can sweep. Though my dusknoir would probably be sub punching so a sub punching t-tar seems pointless aswell. So I could go for a lead t-tar with counter, a focus sash and stealth rock, and he can switch to dusknoir on dangerous fighting attacks.

Scizor is loosing his life orb, he does kill himself more than the oponent, but what item, I've tried choice band but i like to sword dance, need help on this one, aswel. I have bred a new scarmory with brave bird.

finally aerodactyl, only use is a lead, if t-tar goes as a lead, he can go, then I have freed up two spaces, with aero and bronzong going. So tentacrual could fill one slot (starmie has a bug weakness) with toxic spikes, who would fill the other to counter gyrados, preferably an imunity to sandstorm.

Or just scrap all that! t-tar switches to boah and bronzong switches to vaporeon to counter infernape and gyrados and latias switches to gengar who can spin block (so I won't need dusknoir) and fill the same special attacking role as latias (so I won't need latias).

now I'm destroyed by electric types, so dugtrio will come instead of scizor and a lead Jirachi will be used instead of aerodactyl. Life orb on dugtrio or choice band. Tyrana boah is brilliant killed so many skarms forretress and stelixes with it and my flamethrower
and the odd slowbro, who used to wall me to death. Great suggestion aeroblactyl

Dugtrio solves my magnezone problem so well, magnezone switches in on scarmory, scarmory dies, dugtrio revenge kills. Lead Jirachi, ace, been rebattling some people and the second time it is so easy to change tactic, as there are so many options with this lead. Dugtrio is so good at revenge killing infernape, it's hillarious why do people think dugtrio is bad, his stat's suck but the three rodents are amazing.

Thanks again aeroblactyl, vaporeon has been a must, she is now the centre of my team healing herself with wish and water absorb, and healing my boah and countering the water type, she is great.

Now I need the final question, is my team complete, I have some recering weaknesses, no rapidspinner, but 2 of my pokemon are in the air, so it doesn't matter and I have wish now, I also lack taunt so it is hard to stop spikes. I do have three choiced pokemon, though Jirachi doesn't really count, she uses u-turn mainly for scouting, trick gets rid of it anyway so I'm happy with Jirachi, the only problem is getting up a stealth rock I either have to trick straight away or be locked in and have to switch.
