[OVERVIEW]

Baltoy is a very underrated Pokemon. It can support its team very well with its access to Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock, Trick Room, and dual screens. Baltoy is also one of the few Pokemon that resists the EdgeQuake combination, allowing it to check a large number of Pokemon in conjunction with its large offensive movepool and decent offensive stats. Overall, though Baltoy might not have the best stats in the metagame, its movepool and typing give it a niche, making it a solid choice for any team.

[SET]
name: Rapid Spin
move 1: Rapid Spin
move 2: Stealth Rock
move 3: Earth Power
move 4: Ice Beam / Toxic
item: Eviolite / Oran Berry
ability: Levitate
nature: Bold / Relaxed
evs: 196 HP / 236 Def / 36 SpA / 36 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

Baltoy's access to both Rapid Spin and Stealth Rock allow it to support its team with competence. Earth Power should be used in the third moveslot to deal with Croakgunk and Stunky; common switch-ins to Baltoy. However, one must note that Stunky can trap and revenge kill Baltoy with Pursuit if it survives Earth Power. Since Baltoy is otherwise bait for Gligar to set up on it, Ice Beam is the best option for the fourth slot so that it can hit Gligar hard. Toxic is also a good move for Baltoy to use, as it can severely cripple common spinblockers such as Misdreavus, as well as burdening Gligar.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The given EV spread maximizes Baltoy's HP and weaker defense, making it a good mixed wall, especially when combined with the Bold nature which further raises Baltoy's Defense stat. The remaining EVs are invested in Baltoy's Special Attack and Special Defense, granting one more point to each of those stats. Eviolite is the best choice for an item, as it allows Baltoy to tank hits with ease, thus making it easier to support its team very well. Oran Berry could be considered over Eviolite, since Baltoy has no form of recovery outside of Rest. Shadow Ball can be used over Ice Beam if you don't mind Gligar setting up on Baltoy. Shadow Ball also hits spinblockers such as Misdreavus super effectively, however, Shadow Ball can only do a maximum of 45% damage to Misdreavus, so it really isn't worth the moveslot if you can't even 2HKO Misdreavus. A Relaxed nature can also be utilized on this set if you opt to use physical attacks.

Ghost-types, such as Frillish, are good teammates for Baltoy. They keep Stealth Rock in play thanks to being able to block Rapid Spin, while resisting the Bug-type attacks that Baltoy is weak to. Mantyke is also a viable teammate as it resists Water-type attacks, while Baltoy is immune to the Electric-type attacks and can spin away Stealth Rock both of which devastate Mantyke. Snover deals with the Water- and Grass-types that trouble Baltoy, and also appreciates the removal of Stealth Rock. Pokemon who can deal with opposing spinblockers, such as Houndour and Stunky, also make good teammates for Baltoy.

[SET]
name: Dual Screens
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: Stealth Rock
move 4: Toxic / Ice Beam / Explosion
item: Eviolite / Light Clay
ability: Levitate
nature: Bold / Impish
evs: 196 HP / 196 Def / 112 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

The purpose of this set is to set up dual screens, which allows frail, offensive teammates to take attacks as they set up. Stealth Rock is used in the third slot, as it breaks the opponent's Focus Sash and Sturdy while further enhances Baltoy's utility. Toxic is the best option for the last slot, allowing Baltoy to cripple opposing walls and ensuring that it doesn't become a sitting duck after it has set up. Ice Beam and Explosion are also viable, as they prevent Baltoy from being shut down by Taunt. While Ice Beam smacks Gligar hard, Explosion lets Baltoy go out with a bang, allowing a sweeper to switch in safely.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Eviolite allows Baltoy to set up dual screens with ease, and it is the primary option for Baltoy's item. However, Light Clay could also be used to make the dual screens last longer. An Oran Berry could be considered over Eviolite or Light Clay since Baltoy has no recovery moves outside of Rest. Psychic can also be utilized over Earth Power for another STAB move, but it leaves Baltoy completely vulnerable to Stunky and other Dark-type Pokemon who will trap and revenge kill Baltoy with Pursuit.

It is very beneficial to have setup sweepers on your team to make full use of the dual screens that Baltoy sets up. Thus, Pokemon such as Dragon Dance Scraggy, Bulk Up Timburr, Nasty Plot Misdreavus, and Swords Dance Gligar pair up well with Baltoy. Some other good teammates for Baltoy are spinblockers such as Frillish, since it is running Stealth Rock and if the hazards that are set up by Baltoy are removed, then a lot of hard work will go to waste.

[OTHER OPTIONS]

There are a few other options that Baltoy can make use of. One of those options is to use Rain Dance on the dual screens set, making Baltoy a great option for teams dependent on rain. Baltoy can also utilize Trick Room support decently with its relatively low Speed and respectable offenses. With Baltoy's decent base 55 Speed, it could run a Choice Scarf set. Baltoy hits a pretty fast 22 Speed with a Choice Scarf. However, Baltoy lacks the strong offenses that are needed to score significant KOs. A specially defensive EV spread can be utilized on the dual screen set to make use of Baltoy's large Special Defense. STAB Earth Power can also be used on the dual screen set to deal with Stunky and Croagunk, but serves little use otherwise.

[CHECKS AND COUNTERS]

Stunky is a good check to Baltoy, as it can switch in on any of its support moves and revenge kill it with Pursuit. However, it needs to be wary of Earth Power, which will do massive damage, or possibly even OHKO it. Fast Water-types such as Chinchou and Carvanha can outspeed and OHKO Baltoy with their STAB attacks. Snover also makes a fine check, as it can OHKO Baltoy with either Giga Drain or Blizzard. Mantyke is immune to Earth Power, doesn't even get 3HKOed by Ice Beam, and can OHKO Baltoy with Hydro Pump, making it perhaps the best check to Baltoy.

/vague

1) Mention pokemon like Houndour and Stunky in AC for the Rapid Spin set, as they can deal with the ghosts that will completely ruin Baltoy's day, especially since Hound greatly appreciates the lack of Stealth Rock on the field

2) Toxic is an option on both sets as well, as Earth Power is not doing a great deal for you outside of helping against Croagunk. I would slash it just after Earth Power on the Screen set and mention it in the AC for the spin set at the very least.

I like Toxic in the last slot because it hits the two most common Ghosts and severely cripples their defensive capabilities, while also nailing Gligar. It's not like Ice Beam hits especially hard with Evolution Stone around. I'm just suggesting a slash (at the very least).

Ice Beam has a chance to KO Gligar after rocks, and I really don't see a great deal of use for Earth Power. Can you explain why it's needed slightly more? I may just not be getting something

Slash Light Clay in the Screens set, and I think you should mention Explosion there too. I like my Screeners to be able to get the next poke in safely and Explosion gives you that option.

[OVERVIEW]

Baltoy is a very underrated Pokemon. It has the potential to utilize a few different sets, including a Rapid Spinner and a Dual Screen setter. It's one of the few Pokemon who can say they resist the EdgeQuake combo. Baltoy can also set up Stealth Rock, which can be beneficial to any team. Baltoy has a solid base 55 Defense and a base 70 Special Defense. Baltoy has a great support movepool with Stealth Rock, Reflect, Light Screen, Rapid Spin, and Trick Room. Baltoy also has a relatively deep offensive movepool. It has access to Earthquake, Zen Headbutt, Psychic, Earth Power, Shadow Ball, and Ice Beam. Even though Baltoy may not have the best stats, its fantastic offensive and support movepool more than make up for it, making Baltoy a very viable Pokemon in the metagame. It can support its team very well with its access to Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock, Trick Room, and dual screens. Baltoy is also one of the few Pokemon who resist the EdgeQuake combo, allowing it to check a large number of Pokemon in conjunction with its large offensive movepool and decent offensive stats. [SET COMMENTS]

The purpose of this set is to support your team by using Rapid Spin and Stealth Rock. Baltoy's access to both Rapid Spin and Stealth Rock allow it to support its team very well. Earth Power should be used in the third slot to deal with Croakgunk and Stunky who both may be are common switch-ins to Baltoy. Croakgunk can threaten Baltoy with Fake Out and Ice Punch, but with Earth Power you can KO Croakgunk easily. Baltoy can do the same to Stunky, but you don't have the option of switching out since Stunky will likely try and hit you with Pursuit However, note that Stunky can trap and revenge kill Baltoy with Pursuit if it survives Earth Power. Since Baltoy may seem to be is otherwise bait for Gligar to set up on it, Ice Beam is the best option for the fourth slot so you that it can hit Gligar hard. Toxic can also be used because it can severely cripple spinblockers like such as Misdreavus, as well as nailing Gligar. The given EV spread maximizes Baltoy's Defense capabilities, since that is his weaker stat compared to Special DefenseWith the EVs in Defense it makes Baltoy well rounded in both Defensive stats, making it even harder to take down. 1 point goes to Special Attack to let Baltoy hit threats like Gligar, Croakgunk, and Stunky harder. The Bold nature further maximizes Baltoy's Defense. Eviolite is the prefered item since it boosts both Defenses by 50% so you can set up Stealth Rocks and Rapid Spin easier.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The given EV spread maximizes Baltoy's HP and weaker Defense, making it a good mixed wall. The remaining EVs are invested in Baltoy's Special Attack and Special Defense, granting one more point to each of those stats. A Bold nature further boosts Baltoy's Defense. Eviolite is the best choice for an item, as it allows Baltoy to tank hits with ease, allowing it to support its team very well. Oran Berry could be considered over Eviolite, in the item slot so you can get some health back after you take a few hits since Baltoy has no means of recovery outside of Rest since Baltoy has so form of recovery outside of Rest. Shadow Ball can be used over Ice Beam if you don't mind Gligar setting up on you Baltoy. Shadow Ball also hits spinblockers like such as Misdreavus super effectively. Baltoy Shadow Ball can only do a maximum of 45% damage to Misdreavus, though, so it really isn't worth the moveslot if you can't even 2HKO Misdreavus. A Relaxed nature can also be utilized on this set if you opt for Physical-type attacks instead of Special physical attacks.

Spinblockers are good teammates for Baltoy. The keep Stealth Rock in play and resist the Bug-type attacks since they are Ghost-type which Baltoy is weak to. Frillish is a good example of a spinblocker with excellent synergy because it resists Water-, Ice-, and Bug-type attacks which would hit Baltoy super effectively. Mantyke is also a viable teammate since it resists Water-type attacks. Baltoy can also cover Mantyke's 4x Electric-type weaknesses thanks to Baltoy's Ground typing, while Baltoy is immune to the Electric-type attacks which devastate Mantyke. Baltoy can also further aid Mantyke by removing Stealth Rock from the field with Rapid Spin. Snover deals with the Water- and Grass-types who trouble Baltoy, and also appreciates the removal of Stealth Rock. Pokemon who can deal with opposing spinblockers, such as Houndour and Stunky, also make good teammates for Baltoy. Mantyke also appreciated Rapid Spin since it is weak to Stealth Rock. Snover also benefits from no Stealth Rocks since it is weak to them. Snover also resists Water and Grass-type attacks. Houndour and Stunky are also great teammates for this set. They are capable of beating Ghost-types who would otherwise stop Baltoy from using Rapid Spin.

[SET COMMENTS]

The purpose of this set is to set up dual screens, which allow teammates to set up easier and sweep. "Dual Screens" consist of Reflect and Light Screen. Reflect halves all the damage of Physical attacks coming at your Pokemon. Light Screen does the same thing, except it applies to Special attacks. Dual Screens can be very effective as it is equivalent to your opponent have a -2 stat boost every time he attacks you. It can allow you Pokemon to set-up a lot easier and not take as much damage. Stealth Rock is the best option for the third slot, as it breaks the opponent's Focus Sash and Sturdy and further enhances Baltoy's utility. Toxic is the best option for the last slot, allowing Baltoy to cripple opposing walls and ensuring that it doesn't become a sitting duck after it has set up. Ice Beam and Explosion are also viable, as they would prevent Baltoy from being shut down by Taunt. While Ice Beam smacks Gligar hard, Explosion lets Baltoy go out with a bang, allowing a sweeper to switch in safely. Stealth Rock can further expand Baltoy's supporting capabilities on this set by breaking Focus Sashes and Sturdy Pokemon. Toxic is in the fourth slot so Baltoy isn't a sitting duck after it gets Stealth Rock and Dual Screens up. Eviolite is the best item on this set to boost Baltoy's Defenses allowing it to set up screens easier. The EV spread maximizes Baltoy's weaker Physical Defense as well as giving some bulk to its already good Special Defense side.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Eviolite allows Baltoy to set up dual screens with ease, and is the primary option for an item. However, Light Clay could also be used to make the dual screens last longer. Again, Oran Berry could be considered over Eviolite or Light Clay since Baltoy has no recovery moves outside of Rest. Psychic can also be considered over Earth Power for another STAB move, but it leaves you Baltoy completely vulnerable to Stunky, who will Pursuit trap you easily trap and revenge kill it easily with Pursuit. Explosion is also an option as it lets your next Pokemon able to get in safely as you don't have to switch out. Light Clay may also be considered over Eviolite to make your screens last for 8 turns instead of 5 turns.

It is very beneficial to have setup sweepers on your team to make full use of the dual screens which Baltoy sets up. There are a lot of viable sweepers that can take full advantage of the Screens some examples are: Thus, Pokemon such as Dragon Dance Scraggy, Bulk Up Timburr, Nasty Plot Misdreavus, and Swords Dance Gligar pair up well with Baltoy. Obviously those aren't the only Pokemon who can make use of the Screens, but they are good examples. Some other good teammates for Baltoy are spinblockers such as Frillish, since Baltoy it is running Stealth Rock. Frillish is a very good example of a Spin Blocker with great synergy since it resists Water, Ice, and Bug-type attacks. Snover also has good synergy with Baltoy since Snover resists both Water, and Grass-type moves.

[OTHER OPTIONS]

There are a few other options that Baltoy could make use of. One of those options is Rain Dance on the dual screens set, making Baltoy a great option for teams dependent on rain. Rain Dance could support Swift Swimmers like Mantyke who get their Speed doubled in the rain. A Trick Room set could be effectively utilized on Baltoy. With its large movepool and low Speed, it could possibly be decent. Baltoy only has a base 40 Attack and Special Attack, though so he won't be doing a ton of damage Baltoy can also utilize Trick Room decently with its relatively low Speed and decent offenses. With Baltoy's decent base 55 Speed, it could run a Choice Scarf set. Baltoy hits a pretty fast 22 Speed with a Choice Scarf. Again though, Baltoy is relatively weak and won't be getting a lot of KO's However, Baltoy lacks the offenses to score too many KOs. A specially defensive EV spread could be utilized on the dual screen set to make use of Baltoy's large Special Defense. STAB Earth Power can also be used on the dual screen set to deal with Stunky and Croagunk, but serves little use otherwise. Other than that there isn't much more Baltoy can do. Earth Power can also be used on the Dual Screen set to deal with Stunky who would otherwise Pursuit trap Baltoy.

[CHECKS AND COUNTERS]

Baltoy has plenty of checks and counters. Stunky is a good example of a counter since it can come in on any non-Ground move and trap you with Pursuit or Sucker Punch. Fast Water-types like Chinchou can come in and OHKO you with Hydro Pump. Mantyke can resist Earth Power and Ice Beam won't do near enough to 3HKO it. Mantkye can also OHKO you with Hydro Pump or Surf. Carvahna is another Water Pokemon who can outspeed, and OHKO Baltoy with Hydro Pump. Grass-types like Snover who resists Earth Power can easily beat Baltoy. Snover can outspeed and OHKO Baltoy with Blizzard or Giga Drain. Stunky is the best check to Baltoy, as it switch in on most of its moves and revenge kill it with Pursuit. However, it needs to be wary of Earth Power, which will do massive damage if not OHKO it. Fast Water-types such as Chinchou and Carvanha can outspeed and OHKO Baltoy with Hydro Pump. Snover also makes a fine check, as it can OHKO Baltoy with Giga Drain or Blizzard easily. Mantyke is immune to Earth Power, doesn't even get 3HKOed by Ice Beam, and can OHKO Baltoy with Hydro Pump.

Issues:

 • Be careful with what you write in Set Comments and Additional Comments. You have written about items, EV spreads, and nature in SC, which should actually be in AC. Also, you have talked about move slashes which are on the set in AC, when they should be in Set Comments. Please refer to the C&C Analysis Formatting Guide - the sections which explain what should be in SC and what in AC in particular - for a more accurate description.
 • "your" and "you" refer to the user or player, not the Pokemon. Don't use these to refer to Baltoy and other Pokemon. "it" / "he" / "she" are acceptable terms to refer to Pokemon. Also, don't alternate between "it" / "he" etc, stick to one throughout the analysis.
That should be it. Otherwise,

Alright this is good now

G/P check 2!

ElDino's check was pretty good too, just saying

I'd de-slash Ice Beam on both. Toxic is better long-term on Hippo and such and, well, Gligar's gone (I need more creative ways of saying it this is getting repetitive)
