welcome to this freak of both nature and technology; the shape-shifting arena! let's check out the rules for this match.
1v1
dq: 4 days

Arena: Shape-shifting Arena
Field Type: Varies
Complexity: Medium
Format: All

Restrictions: No water source EXCEPT for the Water Field.

Ref Instructions: At the beginning of the match, a random field will be selected from the options below. Every time a Pokemon is fainted, the arena will change again. If more than one Pokemon faints in the same round, then the arena will change only once. Each arena has an equal chance of being chosen.

The arena is 40 feet wide and 85 feet long. After every time a Pokemon is KOd, it can shift into the following arenas:

Desert: Sand is poured out of pipes and into the arena. The sand is about 20 feet deep and a bit loose.

Water: A large ditch starts to appear on the sides of the arena and right through the middle (so it looks like a giant "H"). The ditch is 10 feet wide and 15 feet deep. Pipes start to pour water into the ditches. Also, there is a small lake that forms in the center, with a radius of 10 and a depth of 20.

Grass: Grass that is 3 feet tall starts to pop out of the arena. Pretty simple, no?

Forest: Similar to the grass arena, however, 20 trees will randomly pop up out of nowhere. These trees vary in size and shape. The referee should notify both players when a Pokemon is near a tree.

Winter: Pipes start to blast out water and chunks of ice all over the arena. The ice is about 8 feet deep, and if a Pokemon digs deep enough, they will encounter water (10 feet deep).
You can count me in!
All Abilities
Switch = bolt of divine retribution
No Items
so we have a 1v1 quickie with all abilities. thanks to randomosity, the arena has started out as its winter form, so we have a frosty land before us. let's check out the teams!

<Stunfisk> [Haxsis] (Female)

About Haxsis: Spenstar caught Haxsis in a muddy pond, while searching for a decent Pokemon to round out his tourney team. Haxsis is the team's oddball, in that she's often in her own head and is random in her mannerisms, and barely says anything. Even though Spenstar speaks the language of the Pokemon, he cannot understand what little Haxsis says simply because she babbles about who-knows-what most of the time. She is also unique in that she has a unique indifference to battling among the members of the team. Lately Spenstar has questioned whether he and Haxsis even belong together, on the same team, or if she'll be better off with somebody else.

Bolderdash [Rabbi]
Nature: Modest
Type:
Rock: Rock STAB; Take 2 less damage from all special attacks during Sandstorm. Able to use Sand Tomb without losing focus.
About Rabbi: When Spenstar met Rabbi, it was among a group of Rebble, Bolderdash, and Stratagem in a mysterious cave. Rabbi was adventerous and wanted to see the world, so the group's leader Stratagem allowed a battle between Spenstar and Rabbi that would decide the latter's fate. Spenstar won, and Rabbi joined his team. On their last stop before returning home, Rabbi evolved into a Bolderdash. Since then, it has been much more ambitious and eager to battle due to its new strength.

Spenstar is proficient at speaking and understanding the language of Pokemon just as well as his own, as a result of spending years with Pokemon as his only family. He nicknamed this Pokemon "Rabbi" because he noticed (and appreciated) a distinct Jewish accent in the way it speaks. For reasons unknown, this accent was not present in any other members of Rabbi's original group, with the exception of the lead Stratagem.

Mold Breaker (DW): (locked) (Innate) Whenever this Pokemon attacks, it emits an invisible, blindingly quick pulse preceding the attack that disables the opponents natural abilities (e.g. Levitators plummet towards the ground before Earthquake hits, Volt Absorb will not absorb electric attacks, Clear Body does not prevent stat-drops, etc.)

Syclar [Ant Arctica] (Female)

Ice: Ice STAB; immune to freezing and Sheer Cold, no vision loss or damage in Hail or snowstorm conditions, perfectly accurate and 30% Protect breaking Blizzard in Hail. Superior senses and mobility in frozen caves and other frigid arenas.
Bug: Bug STAB; More mobility in dense brush or forest conditions. Gain an extra guaranteed attack on multi-hit moves.
About Ant Artica: While looking for an ice-type Pokemon in the depths of Snowpoint Temple, Spenstar found a young Syclar stumbling weakly, badly injured from a previous battle. He nursed the Syclar back to health, and in return, the Syclar accepted his offer to join his team. He named her Ant Arctica (usually addressed as simply "Arctica" though) and a partnership was formed. Ant Artica was often bullied by the stronger members of her swarm, and as a result, she is very mild-mannered and shy around trainers and Pokemon besides Spenstar. This somewhat changed when the rest of Spenstar's team warmed up to Ant Artica and made her feel at home; now she opens up to them but is still shy around other Pokemon. She feels blessed to finally have a loving family. Ant Artica is commonly seen outside her Pokeball, on Spenstar's shoulder or head.

let us get down to business! spenstar chooses his pokemon and gives orders, then lady salamence gives orders, then i ref. have at ye.

YES! That's perfect! Okay, go Ant Arctica! Make Daddy proud!

First, I want you to cover yourself with water and ice from the pipes. This will leave you drenched, giving you the makings of a water sport! Then I want you to use Tail Glow to give yourself a boost, and finally, BLIZZARD!

Huh.

While he's doing the little Water Polo, do a Dragon Dance! Now, while it pretends it's a firefly in a Summer's night, do a 20 HP substitute! Now, while it loses it's silly boost with a Blizzard, counter with a 4x SE Fire Fang!

here we are in the winter form of the shape-shifting arena for this short and snappy 1v1 match. ant arctica feels right at home in this environment, and even thinks she has time for a bit of a bath, diving into the water and making a sport out of the water. hirome the dragon does a little dance in response, to get himself pumped up. it's all fun and games at the moment it seems. then, ant arctica's tail starts to glow, boosting her special attack by a whopping three stages! how broken is this move? hirome, still in play mode, gets out a substitute of himself and plonks it down to hide behind. ant arctica suddenly whisks around in the ice, whipping up ice and creating a blizzard; it dispatches of the substitute with ease and even damages hirome somewhat. hirome replies with a fang to the face, but not just any fang; it was a fire fang, striking very effectively, but the water sport lessens the damage by half.

then the arena does its thing and morphs. the ice melts instantly and creates channels in the ground, forming two pieces of high ground.

um... you did remember to factor in the fire-move-weakening water sport into the fire fang damage calc, right? It lasts for 6 actions, not 1 :/
