danmantincan vs deck knight

here we are on planet namek for a battle of pokemon rather than massively muscular men with glowing hair. let's see the rules for this match.
4v4 Doubles
2 Day DQ (3 for ref)
2 Recoveries/8 Chills
Arena: Planet Namek

Native home of the Namekians, the surface is largely covered in water, with many small islands scattered across the planet. The Namekians are a peaceful race that dislikes violence. At the end of each round, there is a 15% chance that a Namekian will come across the battle. They will tend to the wounded, healing 15 HP and restoring 5 Energy to all Pokemon in the battle. At the end of each round, there is a 5% chance that Frieza will come and destroy an island that has a Pokemon on it. All Pokemon on that island will take 20 Damage and will fall into the water. They can choose to stay in the water and fight, or use an action to swim to the nearest island and get back on land. Non-Water-type Pokemon will have a much harder time moving and fighting in water (how much is up to the ref).
This sounds like a good match to me.

right now let's check out the teams.

team danmantincan:

Remoraid (M) - Shinon
Nature: Quiet (Adds One (1) Rank to Special Attack; Divides Base Speed by 1.15 and gives a flat 10 point decrease in evasion, effectively adding 10 accuracy (e.g. 85 becomes 95) on an opponent’s attacks.

Types: Water
Water: Water STAB; Can breathe and have excellent mobility when underwater, are less capable on land unless they are entirely amphibious.

Abilities:
Hustle: (Can be Enabled) This Pokemon puts immense force and speed in its physical attacks, increasing the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by three (3), but the haste used lowers their accuracy to 80% of normal.
Sniper: (Innate) This Pokemon has deadly accuracy and strikes sensitive points, increasing its critical hit bonus from +3 to +5 on single attacks, +2 to +3 on two-hit attacks, and +1 to +2 on multi-hit attacks.
Moody (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon's traits are always fluctuating from one strength to another. At the end of each round, one of the Pokemon's stats (Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, Speed, Accuracy, Evasion) will be boosted by two (2) stages and another will be reduced by one (1) stage. This stat change lasts until the end of that round, where Inconsistent is re-applied, overwriting the boosted and dropped stats. This stat boost/drop occurs outside the normal boosts/drops.

Speed Boost (DW): (Innate) Pokemon with this ability increase their speed as the battle progresses, boosting it one (1) stage at the end of each round at the cost of 2% of their energy. This overrides the normal drop in stats that ocurs at the end of each round (stats other than Speed are still affected).

I send Bishop and Aquavelva. Bishop will evolve upon release into Claydol, and gains Teleport.

Claydol [Bishop] (U)
Nature: Relaxed (Adds One (1) Rank to Defense; Divides Base Speed by 1.15 and gives a flat 10 point decrease in evasion, effectively adding 10 accuracy (e.g. 85 becomes 95) on an opponent’s attacks.
Type: Ground/Psychic
Ground: Ground STAB; Immune to all electrical attacks, can Dig through almost any substance, Evasive Digging reduced from 3 per action Energy Cost to 2 per action, superior senses in darkened cave surroundings.
Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference. We'll start this off right.

Bishop, lead with Mud-Slap on Shinon to blind it. Not only should it do some damage, it will also make it much harder for it to hit, especially if it wants to do the Hustle. Then use Power Trick to prepare for a full assault. Finish by using Dig to evade attacks and strike Oliver. If Oliver targets you with a Yawn the first action, use Dig to avoid it and target Oliver, and move Mud-Slap to your second action.

Aquavelva, start with a 20 HP Substitute to provide yourself some protection. Then use Sandstorm, and finish up with a Mud-Slap on Shinon. If Shinon uses Bullet Seed for its first action, use Protect instead of Substitute and move your attacks back.

Bishop: Mud-Slap (Shinon) ~ Power Trick ~ Dig (Oliver)
If Snorlax targets you with Yawn the first action, Dig (Oliver) ~ Mud-Slap (Shinon) ~ Dig (Oliver)

Aquavelva: Substitute (20 HP) ~ Sandstorm ~ Mud-Slap (Shinon)
If Remoraid targets you with Bullet Seed the first action, Protect ~ Substitute (20 HP) ~ Sandstorm

Ok, this is going to be a tough battle, but I think I finally figured a way around this.

Oliver, start by Snatching Aqua's Substitute. This will leave Aqua vulnerable to a Yawn. Finish by hitting her with a Body Slam.

Shinon, go on the offensive against AquaVelva. Start off with a Psychic. Then Lock-On to AquaVelva, while you show your Hustle and use Bullet Seed.

Oliver: Snatch (A)~Yawn (A)~Body Slam (A)
Shinon: Psychic (A)~Lock-On (A)~[Activate Hustle] Bullet Seed (A)

last time on dragon ball z... no wait that's different.

bishop starts off the match with a mud-slap at shinon, reducing his accuracy. shinon doesn't mind the muddy vision yet, as his psychic exploration into aquavelva's mind is on target. aquavelva goes to make a substitute but oliver's been lying in wait and snatches it from her! what a good play that was.

bishop decides to get tricky with its power and switch its defense and attack; this shall be interesting indeed. shinon seems to be worried about his muddy eyes and decides to lock-onto aquavelva. aquavelva messes about in the earth for a bit and creates a sandstorm, which seems to bore oliver since he yawns at her.

bishop quickly digs underground, preventing himself from being attacked until he comes back up, but nobody seems interested. shinon hustles up a bit and fires seeds like bullets, striking aquavelva thrice and doing huge damage to the slug thing. she doesn't appreciate the pain and slaps more mud into his eyes, further reducing his accuracy. oliver comes from behind his stolen substitute and slams into aquavelva with his massive squishy body for some hot squish-on-squish action. bishop pops out from nowhere and, thinking the substitute is oliver, digs over to it and leaves it looking a bit battered. aquavelva seems to have been overcome by yawning and falls into an intense sleep.

Snorlax should have used Substitute instead of Gastrodon when it used Snatch. Snatch basically steals the move from the opponent and uses the move as its own, while the original user's action fails.

Ok, great job last round! Now let's see if we can get rid of AquaVelva.

Shinon, let's start with a Focus Energy. Then Lock-On to Aqua, then show your hustle and hit her with a Bullet Seed
Oliver, keep up the pressure on AquaVelva by hitting her with a Body Slam, followed by a Chip Away and finishing with another Body Slam.

Shinon: Focus Energy~Lock-On (A)~[Hustle] Bullet Seed (A)

Oliver:

Well, since our opponents seem so desperate to take out AquaVelva, who am I to deny them? Oh wait, I'm Deck Knight!

Bishop, Start with a combination to get the field really shaking. Use Earthquake + Earth Power to knock some sense into the whole field in an erupting light show. (Note to Tea_Demon: the full base attack power of the attack will be 14.25, to calculate damage, use Rank 5 Attack (Power Trick) on a 7.5 (10 x 0.75) Earthquake, and use Rank 3 Special Attack on a 6.75 (9 x 0.75) Earth Power. Only apply STAB to one calculation) It will also allow Aquavelva a bit of an early wake-up call, hitting her with a shock that will knock her out of slumber more quickly. Then take your resting period, and finish the round with an Earthquake.

Aquavelva, snooze a bit for your first action, you'll get a violent shake up, but the extra power will let you act a little faster. On your second action, strike both your foes with an Earthquake boosted by Sand Force, and on your third action prepare for the onslaught of attacks with Protect. Both your foes will be damaged by Bishop's Earthquake, but you'll be able to take it all in stride.

Bishop: Earthquake + Earth Power ~ (cool down) ~ Earthquake

Aquavelva: zzzzz ~ Earthquake ~ Protect

bishop begins by charging up energy, and shinon focuses his energy, increasing his critical hit rate. oliver slams into the sleeping aquavelva with his body again. then bishop unleashes his attack; a massive earthquake with explosions of earth power simultaneously! it does excellent damage to all of the other three pokemon and also seems to have made aquavelva less sleepy.

bishop has to recharge after that powerful combination attack, and shinon locks onto the still sleeping aquavelva once more. oliver chips away at bishop this time, doing reasonable damage.

aquavelva finally wakes up and immediately protects herself, which is handy since bishop triggers another earthquake. shinon hustles into another bullet seed and oliver tries to body slam aquavelva again, but neither of them can penetrate her protection.

Geez I'm late. Weekends wtf.

Alright, good job Aquavelva and Bishop. Lets wrap things up.

Bishop, start this round off with an Extrasensory aimed at Shinon, then use Earthquake and finish with a Dig at Oliver.

Aquavelva, start by Yawning Oliver, then Slack Off, and finish with Earthquake. If you would be KO'd by incoming attacks on your second action, use Protect and Slack Off the next action.

Bishop: Extrasensory (Shinon) ~ Earthquake ~ Dig (Oliver)

AquaVelva: Yawn (Oliver) ~ Slack Off ~ Earthquake
IF you would be KO'd by Earthquake + Incoming attacks second action, use Protect, then Slack Off the next action.

Okay, let's see what we can do.

Shinon, keep using a Hustle boosted Bullet Seed on AquaVelva until she faints. For whatever actions you have left, use Scald on Bishop.

Oliver, start off with a Chip Away on AquaVelva. Then Chill for the second action. Then use Body Slam on AquaVelva if she is still alive. If not, use Ice Beam on Bishop.

Shinon: [Hustle] Bullet Seed (A)x3
Use Scald on Bishop for every action remaining if Aqua faints
Oliver: Chip Away (A)~Chill~Body Slam (A)/Ice Beam (B)

I would also like to point out that AquaVelva doesn't learn Slack Off.

bishop starts us off again with an extrasensory attack at shinon's mind, and shinon shoots bullet seeds at aquavelva yet again for some very good damage, despite only hitting twice. she seems bored by being on the verge of being knocked out though, and yawns at oliver, and, being a snorlax, he is inclined to yawn as well. he's not too sleepy to chip away at her health though.

bishop gets the ground moving in a rumbling earthquake, knocking out both shinon and aquavelva. oliver just chills and goes into an intense sleep. then, while oliver sleeps, bishop digs at him for some damage.

danmantincan sends out his next mon, then so does deck knight; he then gives orders, followed by danmantincan's orders. at least i think that's right.

Geez, I mixed up Slack Off with Recover, that was dumb. I think I'm using Hippopotas too much. In any case, I did order Aquavelva to Protect if she'd be KO'd by EQ on action 2, despite getting the Recover order wrong. Was there a reason that failed?

EDIT: You're the boss. Actually to speed things up I should send out a mon first, since it's dan's turn to order first.

I'll be sending out Rook.

Nature: Brave

I think we are in some trouble here. Come on out Ilyana!

Ilyana, go on the offensive against Rook. With the DC you gain, you unlock Sheer Force. Start by attacking Oliver with a Fire Blast, this should help him wake up sooner. Then turn to Rook, enable Sheer Force and hit him with a Hurricane followed by a Fire Blast. Use Taunt if Rook tries to set up a Light Screen and push your actions back, but only do this once.

Oliver, starting from the turn you wake up, use Ice Beam on Rook. Then Chill and then hit it with another Ice Beam.

Oliver: Ice Beam (R)~Chill~Ice Beam (R)
Starting from when you wake up

Ilyana: Fire Blast (O)~[Enable Sheer Force] Hurricane (R)~Fire Blast (R)
Use Taunt and push actions back if Rook tries to set up a Light Screen (Only once).

Sheer Force gets enabled on a per round basis and can be activated/deactivated only when the Pokemon moves first or is released in battle, not on a per action basis. Either all attacks get Sheer Force or none of them do, for a two round period in most instances.

In any case:

Rook, begin with Worry Seed on Ilyana to disable its abilities. Then use Earthquake, and finish up with Light Screen on yourself and Bishop. If Bishop's Rock Tomb missed on the second action, use Earthquake as your third action.

Bishop, start with a Chill, then use Rock Tomb to lower Monohm's Speed. End the round with Earthquake.

Rook: Worry Seed (Ilyana) ~ Earthquake ~ Light Screen
IF Bishop's Rock Tomb missed the second action, use Earthquake as your third action.

Bishop: Chill ~ Rock Tomb (Ilyana) ~ Earthquake

here we are in the next round and bishop, still the quickest on the field, decides to chill out to restore some energy. ilyana tries an innovative move by fire blasting her own teammate to wake him up more quickly, but the attack misses. rook slips ilyana a seed and she starts to worry about whether that miss was crucial or not, and oliver just sleeps on.

bishop tries something tricky by trying to encase ilyana in a rock tomb, but the attack misses; ilyana's attempt at unleashing a mighty hurricane at rook also misses. the hax gods are angry it seems. rook lets loose a mighty earthquake, damaging both ilyana and oliver, but it's not enough to wake oliver up early.

it's now bishop's turn to make the ground shake with an earthquake of its own, and thankfully its teammate doesn't take much damage. ilyana launches another fire blast, this time at rook, and she finally manages to hit and even burn rook, which is timely as it allows oliver to survive rook's second earthquake, but only just. speaking of oliver, he finally wakes up and fires an ice beam at rook. it also appears as though the sandstorm has stopped.

What was the burn roll? I'm having trouble making sense of the 40 value (Same with Rock Tomb missing on 80, the attack has 80 Acc) Much as it pains me, Oliver also aimed Ice Beam at Rook, not Bishop.

If any of these things would impact the moves used in the actual reffing (e.g. queuing Light Screen instead of EQ), I'll withold my orders.

If the only thing that would change is targets/damage, these will be my orders:

Bishop, wrap things up with another Earthquake, then Chill. and if Ilyana is still around, use Earth Power. If Ilyana Taunts you the first action, use Earth Power your second action instead, and end the round with Rapid Spin on Ilyana.

Rook, we can use status to your advantage. Begin with Facade on Ilyana, then use Earthquake, and end the round with Crunch on Ilyana.

Bishop: Earthquake ~ Chill ~ Earth Power (Ilyana)
If Ilyana Taunts you the first action, use Earth Power as your second action and Rapid Spin on Ilyana.

Rook: Facade (Ilyana) ~ Earthquake ~ Crunch (Ilyana)

Dam, I fear we might lose this battle. Let's try to do as much damage as possible.

Oliver: Selfdestruct
Ilyana: Hurricane~Fire Blast~Hurricane all on Rook.

bishop starts us off with another terrain-bending earthquake, knocking out oliver. ilyana tries to deal some damage with a ferocious hurricane, but she can't control it well enough and it misses. rook then uses his burn as a weapon and facades ilyana, leaving her on a sliver of health.

bishop, knowing their plans have worked, chills out to restore some energy for the next threat. ilyana manages to launch a fire blast at rook for some solid damage before succumbing to another mighty earthquake.

Ok, let's go down swinging Titania!

Turn up the heat on Rook!

Fire Blast~Flamethrower~Fire Blast all on Rook.

If Rook uses Earthquake, use Bounce to evade it. But if Trick Room is in effect, use Counter instead.

Alright Rook, time to clean up. Strike with Wood Hammer + Superpower for an epic final blow. A crushingly powerful Fighting-type attack will result. If you're still around action 3, Chill.

Bishop, use Extrasensory, then Sandstorm, and finish with Earth Power.

Rook: Wood Hammer + Superpower ~ Cool Down ~ Chill.

Bishop: Extrasensory ~ Sandstorm ~ Earth Power

bishop starts us off with an extrasensory mental invasion, doing good damage to titania, who launches a fire blast at rook but it doesn't quite do enough damage to get the ko. this means rook is able to unleash a combo attack of wood hammer+superpower on titania, doing excellent damage; the recoil sustained from the attack knocks him out though.

bishop takes the time to set up a swirling sandstorm, while titania flamethrowers rook's corpse. this seems to offend bishop, and it uses some earth power to give titania more of a beating; she simply fire blasts rook's corpse some more.
