[SET COMMENTS]

  • Stealth Rock is obvious and allows Wormadam-S to support the team

  • Toxic and Protect are the main form of damage, as few Pokemon can effectively damage Wormadam quickly enough to avoid it.

  • Gyro Ball is to not be taunt bait, the evs and ivs allow it to be as powerful as possible, as Wormadam-S hits an incredible 69 Speed
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • A specially defensive spread with a Sassy nature is also viable

  • Anticipation can be used over Overcoat if you are very nervous about random Hidden Power Fire’s

  • Bug Bite can be used as an alternate STAB move

  • Works very well with things that can absorb Fire Attacks with ease such as Flareon


[OTHER OPTIONS]

  • Wormadam-S has access to Sucker Punch if you want to catch a frail offensive Pokemon off guard

  • A Weather Support set is viable has she learns Rain Dance and Sunny Day

  • She can use Special Attacks like Flash Cannon and Signal Beam

[CHECKS AND COUNTERS]

  • Anything with a Fire attack

  • Weezing hard walls Wormadam-S

  • Poison types can use her as set up fodder

  • Powerful neutral attacks are also threatening
 
SR is illegal with overcoat; you'll have to use anticipation :/

as much as I hate saying this, on a lot of pokes, gyro ball will be hitting for less than iron head. it takes 221 Speed to be hit as hard; this is a number that you only surpass with min base 93s. considering that a lot of NU is slow it might be a good idea to slash iron head somewhere.
 
I run Skill Swap to counter Xatu's Magic Bounce. If you predict the Xatu coming in to bounce back Stealth Rock then you can skill swap away its ability and set up rocks regardless. I think this is a viable option especially when you are forced to have a useless ability (Anticipation) and often times can be of great benefit such as when you swap over a Regenerator from Tangela, Poison Heal from Shroomish, No Guard from Machoke, and Natural Cure from Roselia.

Interesting, but A. Xatu is not NU, B. no one uses shroomish, C. It is a waste of a move slot given that it is very niche and not many pokes have that useful abilities down here in NU unlike OU.

Swapping Poison Heal from Shroomish makes no sense since Wormadam-S cannot become poisoned.



Oh, and Raseri, you should mention somewhere how the lack of reliable recovery hurts Wormadam-S' success as a defensive Pokemon, and maybe mention Substitute in OO.
 
lack of reliable recovery i agree with but why substitute? if anything you would want to avoid it since she has no reliable recovery, or a way to deal damage

However, it means that instead of shroomish recovering from toxic heis harmd by it. Neverthelesss, it is a bad niche idea (i could see it working on the few people who use flame orb swellow though!)
