Miltank [GP 2/2]

[Overview]

Everyone's favorite cow returns in BW as one of the better support Pokemon in NU. This old Bess is a lot stronger than she might first appear. Miltank sports an excellent movepool with various available support options, such as Heal Bell and Stealth Rock, which enable her to fill many different roles on your team. Her access to a both a unique and reliable recovery move: in Milk Drink, combined with her great HP and Defense stats, cements her position as one of the most reliable support and defensive Pokémon in the tier. With 3 three useful abilities Miltank is able to keep opponents guessing, making them think twice about attacking with a Fire- or Ice-type move with thanks to Thick Fat, forcing opponents to be wary about of switching their Ghost-type into a STAB Double Edge thanks to Scrappy, or even make them less inclined to start fire off Spore or Leech Seed around the battlefield, lest they grant Miltank an Attack boost courtesy of Sap Sipper. All in all, Miltank is both an stunning excellent support Pokemon and an unexpected offensive threat, and while having she has her drawbacks, she will always be regarded by NU players as being an excellent choice for any team.

[SET COMMENTS]

Miltank's ability, Thick Fat, combined with her Miltank's decent 95/105/70 defenses, turns her into a stellar wall in the NU tier. With Thick Fat Miltank gains a few handy resistances to Fire- and Ice-type attacks, which makes it easier for her to switch into the likes of Emboar and Magmortar. With her great movepool Miltank has many options available to support her team. Heal Bell is a great support move which can heal team members from crippling status. Heall Bell also gives Miltank a reliable way to recover from Toxic. However, Heal Bell should be used judiciously as its 8PP runs out quickly. With her Thanks to Miltank's unique recovery move Milk Drink, it will be difficult for your opponent to take her out, so she can hopefully support the team throughout the battle. The choice of offensive move is whether you want to cripple your opponent's team with paralysis. For this purpose, Body Slam can be used with its 30% paralysis chance. However, if you choose to use Toxic or Thunder Wave in the fourth moveslot, Seismic Toss is a better option for realiable damage. Stealth Rock is obviously the preferred choice for the fourth moveslot, as it is a staple move for any NU team (I can't really think of a metagame where SR isn't a staple...), though if you already have Stealth Rock support, Toxic or Thunder Wave is a are better options than Body Slam to spread status.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EVs and Nature used to max out Miltank's Special Defense which is Miltank's its weaker defensive stat, which rounds out its bulk due to its already high Defense This makes it easier for Miltank to switch in to the. This gives Miltanks good all-round defenses, and makes it an excellent counter to Magmortar, who fails to 3HKO it without Focus Blast. This set can also run An EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD can be used to make it easier for Miltank to switch in<remove space>to the likes of Emboar, Absol, and Skuntank. Good partners for Miltank include Misdreavus,; both Pokemon are immune to each others most common weaknesses in the tier. Musharna is also a great partner because it sets up on opposing Sawk's and appreciates the Heal Bell support that Miltank provides. Taunt completely shuts down Miltank, and Misdreavus, who is immune to Miltank's STAB moves and Seismic Toss, is the most common Taunt user in the tier, who coincidentally is immune to Miltank's offensive options. Both Absol and Swellow take out Misdreavus easily to, which makes it easier for Miltank to do her job, Swellow also takes out opposing Fighting-types easily with ease. This is set is a great counter to Cryrogonal, who as it cannot touch Miltank, and whereas she is able to switch in safely and repeatedly as much as she pleases. There is also the option to run Sap Sipper on this set if you fear Tangela, thought this cannot be used alongside Stealth Rock.

[SET COMMENTS]

This set takes a whole new approach to Miltank than the support set; it takes advantage of Miltank's great Speed for by NU standards and her more and than passable Attack stat. While Miltank's Attack stat may seem sub<remove space>par compared to some of the other physical threats in the tier, it is actually quite powerful. A +0 Double Edge OHKO's Magmortar with after Stealth Rock damage, and if it is able to get a +1 from Sap Sipper, not much other than Misdreavus/ or Haunter can switch in<remove space>to the combination of Double Edge and Earthquake. With Sap Sipper, Miltank acts as a great counter to Jumpluff/ and Tangela, who both heavily rely on Leech Seed and Sleep Power to get anything done. Double Edge is preferred as Miltank's STAB move as the extra power is needed, but if you are concerned about her survivability the recoil damage, Return can be run used instead. Earthquake hits Rock- and Steel-types that resist Miltank's STAB super effectively. Punishment is great alongside Sap Sipper (why?) to take out Ghost-types, and as well as Pokemon such as Musharna and Duosion, who will try to set up Calm Minds against Miltank. Though even with a super effective move However, Misdreavus walls this set because it is not hit hard by payback, thanks to its low Speed, and can burn Miltank with Will-O-Wisp. Lastly, Milk Drink is used to heal off Life Orb damage and that nasty recoil from Double Edge.<remove space>

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Maximum Speed with a Jolly Nature is more desirable on this set, with a Jolly Nature, enable Miltank to outspeeds non-scarf Braviary, Magmortar, Emboar, Sawsbuck, non-scarf Haunter, and Kangaskhan to name a few. Despite this, an Adamant nature can be run over Jolly for that extra power (mention specific benefits of Adamant nature over Jolly imo). A good partner for Quagsire makes for an excellent partner to Miltank is Quagsire as it walls faster Pokemon, such as Sawk who can take out Miltank, as it walls fast Pokemon that can OHKO Miltank, such as Sawk. while being Quagsire also acts as a lure for Grass-type moves, which can give Miltank can take advantage of to nab the extra sweeping power with an Attack boost. Entry hazards are very important, as they help her Miltank take out faster threats on the switch. Scrappy can be run used instead of Sap Sipper if your team has problems with Ghost-type Pokemon, and if so Heal Bell/ or Stealth Rock can be run over used instead of Punishment.<remove space>

[SET COMMENTS]

This set revolves around Miltank's very useful ability Scrappy. This ability allows enables Miltank to set up and not worry about Ghost-types being immune to her only offensive move. The EV's enable Miltank to sponge opponent's special attacks with relative ease, while boosting her Defense with Curse. Curse is able to boost her only just passable Attack stat to mighty levels, and because of thanks to Scrappy she only worries about Miltank is only walled by defensive Rock- and Steel-types. Body Slam is a great STAB option, as it is able to cripple the opponent's team with paralysis, and do a great deal of damage at the same time. Miltank becomes very bulky after a few Curse boosts, and is able to shake off even the most powerful super effective hits, such as only getting. For example, it is only 3HKO'ed by Sawk's Close Combat after 3 Curse boosts. Milk Drink heals off the damage taken while Miltank tries to set up against its opponent, and once it has set up, it can easily heal off damage while the opponent tries to whittle her HP down helps it stay healthy once it has set up. If her Miltank's set up is suddenly stopped by a nasty Will-o-Wisp from Misdreavus or a fatal Toxic problematic status move, such as Toxic or Will-O-Wisp, the final move, Heal Bell means ensures that Miltank's set up isn't put to a halt by crippling status can continue to set up without worrying about the debilitating status.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Quagsire completely stops walls this set, and there is no point in staying in on him and boosting up due to its ability Unaware, ability. thus Therefore, Grass-types, such as Serperior and Exeggutor, are good partners. Toxic Spikes support is also handy for this set, because it means Miltank can stay in on Pokemon that would previously wall it, such as Regirock and the aforementioned Quagsire. Tangela and Regirock are good partners for Miltank because they stop strong physical threats such as Absol and Sawk, who even with after one or two Defense boosts, still remain a problem for her. Absol, who also has Super Luck, can cut through Miltank's Defense boosts easily if it strikes lucky with an untimely critical hit. Problems with Sawk can also be stopped by both Musharna and Duosion, who can switch in and set up on Sawk Musharna and Duosion can wall Sawk and set up on it, and therefore make for good partners. Regirock, Probopass, and Bastiodon are all big problems for this set, Samurott and Gurdurr both fix this problem, but Miltank can also run Earthquake over Heal Bell as a solution to that problem as they resist Miltank's STAB move. Samurott and Gurdurr can set up or outright KO these threats, but Miltank can forgo Heal Bell's utility for Earthquake to get past these defensive Juggernauts. Taunt Misdreavus is also a problem, so Skuntank, Absol, and Swellow are great partners to take Misdreavus out with Pursuit or Brave Bird, and Skuntank can also take Misdreavus out easily.

[Other Options]

Miltank does not have a huge amount of options to work with. If you are worried about Rock-types, Gyro Ball can be run over Heal Bell or Milk Drink on the Curse set, to take advantage of the lowered speed of its relatively low Speed stat, though in almost every situation Earthquake is the better option, as it also hits for hitting Steel-types. If you are worried about bulky Fighting-types like such as Throh and to an extent Emboar, you can run Zen Headbutt on the LO Life Orb set to hit them for super effective damage. Miltank can also run a successful offensive-tank set, with Thunder Wave, Milk Drink, Body Slam, and Earthquake. If you opt to run Thunder Wave over Stealth Rock on the Mootility set, but still wish for a Normal-type STAB move, you can run Return / or Double Edge for extra power.

[Checks and Counters]

Miltank's only weakness is to powerful Fighting-type moves, so powerful Fighting-type Pokemon can shut it down, mainly Sawk, Emboar, and Gurdurr. Gurdurr also sets up on Miltank easily, and appreciates Toxic and Thunder Wave thanks to its ability guts Guts ability. Choice Scarf Emboar outspeeds all three sets Miltank and KO'es her with Superpower. Absol is also a threat to all three sets, though the LO set outspeeds, and can KO, though you need to be wary of Sucker Punch outspeeds most variants of Miltank, and can KO her with Superpower. SubDisable Haunter walks all over every set Miltank,; it can Disableboth Body Slam on the Curse set and Punishment on the LO set, meaning neither have a chance at hitting it at all Miltank's super effective attack and then chip away at it with Sludge Bomb. Powerful special attackers also destroy Miltank; the likes of Gorebyss and Exeggutor can both 2HKO it with their STAB moves. Defensively, Misdreavus counters the LO set offensive Miltank easily, the only way Miltank has a chance of taking it out, is if it tries to set up Nasty Plot or Calm Mind, which increases the power of Punishment. Taunt is also a huge problem for Miltank, which is most commonly found on Misdreavus. Pokemon that resist its Normal-type STAB are solid counters for the Curse set, namely Regirock, Probopass, Armaldo, and Golem.<remove space>

Miltank becomes very bulky after a few Curse boosts, and is able to shake off even the most powerful super effective hits. For example, it is only 3HKOed by Sawk's Close Combat after 3 Curse boosts. after three Curse boosts, she is only 3HKOed by (what item, if it's important?) Sawk's Close Combat. (i don't get the point of this sentence/ why it's here. maybe move it to AC or to right after the Curse sentence?) Milk Drink heals off the damage taken while Miltank tries to set up against its opponent Miltank might take while she boosts up, and helps it her stay healthy once it she has set up. If Miltank's set up setup is suddenly stopped by a problematic status move, such as Toxic or Will-O-Wisp, the final moveHeal Bellensures that Miltank can continue to set up without worrying about the debilitating status.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EVs enable Miltank to sponge opposing special attacks with relative ease, as she will be boosting her Defense with Curse.

Quagsire completely walls this set, and there is no point in staying in and boosting up due to its Unaware ability. Therefore, Grass-types, such as Serperior and Exeggutor, are good partners. Toxic Spikes support is also handy for this set, because it means Miltank can stay in on and stall out Pokemon that would previously otherwise wall it her, such as Regirock and the aforementioned Quagsire. Tangela and Regirock are good partners for Miltank because they stop strong physical threats such as Absol and Sawk, who even after one or two Defense boosts, still remain a problem for her remain a problem for her even after one or two boosts. Absol, who also has Super Luck, can cut through Miltank's Defense boosts easily if it strikes lucky with an untimely critical hit. Musharna and Duosion can wall Sawk and set up on it, and therefore make for good partners. Regirock, Probopass, and Bastiodon are all big problems for this set, as they resist Miltank's STAB move. Samurott and Gurdurr can set up on or outright KO these threats, but Miltank can forgo Heal Bell's utility for Earthquake to get past these defensive juggernauts. Taunt Misdreavus is also a problem, so Skuntank, Absol, and Swellow are great partners to as they can take Misdreavus out with Pursuit or Brave Bird.

[Other Options]

Miltank does not have a huge amount of options to work with. If you are worried about Rock-types, Gyro Ball can be run used over Heal Bell or Milk Drink on the Curse set, to take advantage of of its Miltank's relatively low (a few paragraphs ago you describe it as "great" so this is kinda confusing) Speed stat. though in almost every situation However, Earthquake is the better option, in almost every situation as it also hits Steel-types. If you are worried about bulky Fighting-types, such as Throh and to an extent Emboar, you Life Orb Miltank can run Zen Headbutt on the Life Orb set to hit them for super effective damage. Miltank can also run a successful offensive- tank set, with Thunder Wave, Milk Drink, Body Slam, and Earthquake. If you opt to run Thunder Wave over Stealth Rock on the Mootility set, but still wish for a Normal-type STAB move, you can run Return or Double -Edge for extra power.

[Checks and Counters]

Miltank's only weakness is to powerful Fighting-type moves, so Fighting-type Pokemon can shut it down, mainly Sawk, Emboar, and Gurdurr—can shut her down. Gurdurr also sets up on Miltank easily, and appreciates Toxic and Thunder Wave thanks to its Guts ability. Both Choice Scarf Emboar outspeeds Miltank and KOes her with Superpower. Absol outspeeds most variants of and most Absol outspeed Miltank, and can KO her with Superpower. SubDisable Haunter walks all over Miltank; it can Disable Miltank's super effective attack and then chip away at it her with Sludge Bomb. Powerful special attackers also destroy Miltank; the likes of Gorebyss and Exeggutor can both 2HKO it her with their STAB moves. Defensively, Misdreavus counters offensive Miltank easily; the only way Miltank has a Miltank's only chance of taking it out is if it tries to set up Nasty Plot or Calm Mind, which increases the power of Punishment. Taunt is also a huge problem for Miltank, which is most commonly found on Misdreavus, is also a huge problem for Miltank. Pokemon that resist its her Normal-type STAB are solid counters for to the Curse set; namely these include Regirock, Probopass, Armaldo, and Golem.

[Overview]

Everyone's favorite cow returns in BW as one of the better support Pokemon in NU. This old Bess is a lot stronger than she might first appear. Miltank sports an excellent movepool with various support options, such as Heal Bell and Stealth Rock, which enable her to fill many different roles on your team. Her access to a reliable recovery move in Milk Drink, combined with her great HP and Defense stats, cements her position as one of the most reliable support and defensive Pokemon in the tier. With three useful abilities, Miltank is able to keep opponents guessing; Thick Fat makes them think twice about attacking with a Fire- or Ice-type move, Scrappy forces opponents to be wary of switching their Ghost-type into a STAB Double-Edge, while Sap Sipper makes them less inclined to fire off Spore or Leech Seed, lest they grant Miltank an Attack boost. All in all, Miltank is both an excellent support Pokemon and an unexpected offensive threat, and while she has her drawbacks, she will always be regarded as an excellent choice for any team.

[SET]
name: Mootility
move 1: Heal Bell
move 2: Milk Drink
move 3: Body Slam / Seismic Toss
move 4: Stealth Rock / Toxic / Thunder wave
item: Leftovers
ability: Thick Fat
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

Thick Fat, combined with Miltank's decent 95 / 105 / 70 defenses, turns her into a stellar wall in the NU tier. With Thick Fat, Miltank gains handy resistances to Fire- and Ice-type attacks, which make it easier for her to switch into the likes of Emboar and Magmortar. With her great movepool, Miltank has many options available to support her team. Heal Bell is a great support move that can heal team members of crippling status; it also gives Miltank a reliable way to recover from Toxic. However, Heal Bell should be used judiciously as its 8 PP runs out quickly. Thanks to Miltank's unique recovery move, Milk Drink, it will be difficult for your opponent to take her out, so she can hopefully support the team throughout the battle.

The choice of offensive move depends on what status you want to cripple your opponent's team with. Body Slam is useful for its 30% paralysis chance, but if you choose to use Toxic or Thunder Wave in the fourth moveslot, Seismic Toss is a better option for reliable damage. Stealth Rock is obviously the preferred choice in the fourth moveslot, as it is a staple move for any team. However, if you already have Stealth Rock support, Toxic or Thunder Wave are better options than Body Slam to spread status.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EVs and nature maximize Miltank's Special Defense, which is her weaker defensive stat. This gives Miltank good all-round defenses, and makes her an excellent counter to Magmortar, who fails to 3HKO her without Focus Blast. An EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD can make it easier for Miltank to switch into the likes of Emboar, Absol, and Skuntank. You can elect to run Sap Sipper on this set if you fear Tangela, but note that it cannot be used alongside Stealth Rock.

Good partners for Miltank include Misdreavus, as both Pokemon are immune to each other's most common weaknesses. Musharna is also a great partner because it sets up on opposing Sawk and appreciates the Heal Bell support that Miltank provides. Taunt completely shuts down Miltank, and Misdreavus, who is immune to Miltank's STAB moves and Seismic Toss, is the most common Taunt user in the tier. Both Absol and Swellow take out Misdreavus easily, which makes it easier for Miltank to do her job; Swellow also takes out opposing Fighting-types with ease. This set is a great counter to Cryogonal as it cannot touch Miltank, whereas she is able to switch in safely and repeatedly (what point are you trying to make here - either suggest teammates that appreciate cryogonal removed to make it more relevant to this part of the AC, or else move it to perhaps the second or third sentence of the first AC paragraph?).

[SET]
name: MooFensive
move 1: Double-Edge / Return
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Punishment
move 4: Milk Drink
item: Life Orb
ability: Sap Sipper / Scrappy
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set takes advantage of Miltank's great Speed and decent Attack. While Miltank's Attack stat might seem subpar compared to that of some of the other physical threats in the tier, she is actually quite powerful. An unboosted STAB Double-Edge OHKOes Magmortar after Stealth Rock, and if Miltank is able to get a boost from Sap Sipper, not much other than Misdreavus or Haunter can switch into the combination of Double-Edge and Earthquake. With Sap Sipper, Miltank acts as a great counter to Jumpluff and Tangela, who both heavily rely on Leech Seed and Sleep Power. Double-Edge is preferred as Miltank's STAB move as she needs the extra power, but if you are concerned about the recoil damage, Return is a viable option. Earthquake hits Rock- and Steel-types that resist Miltank's STAB super effectively. Punishment is great as a coverage move to take out Ghost-types, as well as Pokemon such as Musharna and Duosion, who will try to set up against Miltank. However, Misdreavus walls this set because its low Speed means it takes little damage from Payback, and it can burn Miltank with Will-O-Wisp. Lastly, Milk Drink is used to heal off recoil from Life Orb and Double-Edge.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Maximum Speed investment and a Jolly nature enable Miltank to outspeed Braviary, Magmortar, Emboar, Sawsbuck, Haunter, and Kangaskhan, to name a few. Despite this, an Adamant nature is an option over a Jolly one for that extra power, which grants Miltank additional KOs on the likes of (who specifically?). Generally, though, the extra Speed is preferred. Scrappy can be used instead of Sap Sipper if your team has problems with Ghost-type Pokemon; if so, Heal Bell or Stealth Rock can be used instead of Punishment.

Quagsire makes for an excellent partner to Miltank as it walls fast Pokemon that can OHKO Miltank, such as Sawk. Quagsire also acts as a lure for Grass-type moves, which Miltank can take advantage of to nab an Attack boost. Entry hazards are very important as they help Miltank take out faster threats on the switch (recommend some setters of hazards, also give some notable KOs).

[SET COMMENTS]

This set revolves around Miltank's very useful Scrappy ability, which enables Miltank to set up without the worry of Ghost-types being immune to her only offensive move. Curse boosts her passable Attack stat to mighty levels, and thanks to Scrappy, Miltank is only walled by defensive Rock- and Steel-types. Body Slam is a great STAB option as it can spread paralysis to cripple the opponent's team and do a great deal of damage at the same time. Milk Drink heals off the damage Miltank might take while she boosts up, and helps her stay healthy once she has set up. If Miltank's setup is suddenly stopped by a problematic status move, such as Toxic or Will-O-Wisp, the final move—Heal Bell—ensures that Miltank can continue to set up without worrying about the debilitating status.

a few things ~

 • please note that the move is written as Double-Edge, with the hyphen!
 • 95 / 105 / 70 defenses, with spaces
 • "set up" is a verb and "setup" a noun; therefore, Miltank's "setup"
 • AC should always have (at least) two paragraphs - the first explains the finer aspects of the set in further detail, namely selection of item/ ability/ nature/ ev spread; you can also suggest and evaluate other choices, as well as alternative moves not slashed onto the set, here
 • also keep in mind that, while it's acceptable to use both he/she and it to refer to the pkmn, please please (especially if using the former) be consistent throughout the analysis - pick one and stick with it
 • finally, it'd be great if you could run your analysis through a spellchecker! that'd catch obvious errors such as "Heall Bell" and "Admant" :/

feel free to drop me a VM if you've any questions (and if you'd like me to give anything you've added one extra look-over); if not, congrats on your first finished analysis!

changes added. Just waiting on someone the check those final things I changed (the stuff in rec brackets in sirndpt's c/p) and this should be finished.

Garbodor works as a nice partner,(remove comma) as he resists Miltank's only weakness,(remove comma) and is able to set up Spikes(period) Armaldo also works well by setting up Stealth Rock and taking out Substitute Haunter with Rock Blast.
