Arena
ASB Tournament Arena
Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Gliscor(*) [Capers] (M)
NATURE: Jolly (+14% Accuracy) (NC)

TYPE
Ground: Ground STAB; Immune to all electrical attacks, can Dig through almost any substance, Evasive Digging reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action, superior senses in darkened cave surroundings.
Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.

ABILITIES
Hyper Cutter: (Innate) This Pokemon always keeps its claws/teeth/pincers extremely sharp, and thus cannot have its attack reduced.
Sand Veil: (Innate) This Pokemon is used to reacting in desert conditions and gets a 20% evasion boost during Sandstorms. Pokemon with this ability are immune to Sandstorm damage.
Poison Heal (DW): (Innate) Pokemon with this ability have internal structures that absorb the toxins in poison and uses them to recover two (2) HP/action instead of taking poison damage. When a Pokemon with Poison Heal inflicts Poison on themselves with an attack, it uses up one of their Recovery Moves. If Toxic'd, the Toxic counter will still go up each round and Toxic will do the relevant damage for that round should their ability be disabled.

Type: Ground/Ghost
Ground:Ground STAB; Immune to all electrical attacks, can Dig through almost any substance, Evasive Digging reduced from 3 per action Energy Cost to 2 per action, superior senses in darkened cave surroundings.
Ghost:Ghost STAB; brief intangibility that nullifies Normal and Fighting-type attacks. Can move through walls for a brief period of time but must remain in motion. Superior senses in low light and inside dark buildings. Have no vision reduction in hazes.

Abilities:
Iron Fist: (Innate)
The Base Attack Power of this Pokemon’s “Punch” attacks is increased by two (2). (Known attacks effected: Bullet Punch, Comet Punch, Dizzy Punch, Drain Punch, Dynamicpunch, Fire Punch, Focus Punch, Hammer Arm, Ice Punch, Mach Punch, Mega Punch, Meteor Mash, Shadow Punch, Sky Uppercut, Thunderpunch)

Klutz: (Can be Disabled)
The Pokemon moves in a rare style of battling that uses an unpredictable, clumsy looking manner. The accuracy of its attacks are increased by 10% (flat). While engaging in this style it cannot use a hold item, however an item is necessary to pull it off.

No Guard (DW): (Innate)
This Pokemon has an immense confidence from perfecting each of its attacks, giving them all perfect accuracy. As a result, it feels it can weather every strike, and will not dodge an attack even if ordered to. Only when an OHKO move is issued by the opponent does sense return, and the Pokemon acts normally. Additionally, even with their extra skill, the power and exhaustion involved in using OHKO moves prevents them from being benefited by No Guard; they will have their normal accuracy.

We're in the for the long haul here Pokefans, so the seasoned Its_A_Random decides he best start off with the mon he knows has a solution to every problem in Utilitand the Fidgit. Imanalt is certainly the less experienced of the two trainers here today and responds with sheer power and size in Whale? the Colossoil. Whale? indeed opts for the headstrong option from the get go as he shakes the arena with an Earthquake. Unfortunately for him Utilitand saw it coming and spread out those many limbs to guard not only himself but his entire side of the field against such an attack. Too bad the Whale's second assault is a little harder to avoid. A Dodge was totally in vain and resulted in nothing more than a waste of energy as Whale? lands a Fake Out strike on the many handed one. The round closes with Colossoil being finally allowed to hit with an Earthquake as the damage it does explains why IAR had been so keen to avoid them. Utilitand finishes up with one of its trademarks in U-Turning on outta here to let a better counter join the fray next round. The fact that it also hit the dark whale super effectively on the way out is just a happy coincidence I'm sure.

Fresh off a crafty U-Turn IAR sends out Blind his Simipour, complete with one of that fancy new glowing stones that seems to have almost been tailor made for it. Despite being completely dwarfed by Whale? the monkey is not threatened, and looks to begin by using Colossoil's own weight against it.. that is until the massive mon gives itself just a slight speed bump and Fakes Blind Out! Unfortunately with that card played the Simipour is free to Surf a huge crashing wave right Colossoil. This whale really doesn't like water either but for some reason he has decided its a wonderful idea to take that move a couple more times after giving Blund an Encore (that it somehow sees despite being Blind..) Just as we thought the second Surf hits just as hard but it does leave the big Ground type free to U-Turn itself on outta there while Blind is still lining up for a third consecutive Surf, through no choice of its own. I think we can all see where this is going hey..

With the trap sprung just right Gastrodoom makes his way out to soak up another forced Surf with his Storm Drain. Gastrodoom also takes the free chance to play a little defence and sets up a hefty Substute. Blind responds with the pacifist tactic of simply chilling out, strange given he has so much energy and a sub to deal with but at least he only takes a short buffetting from the Sandstorm as he quickly overides it with a Rain Dance. He must be setting up for something here but whatever it is we won't find out until after he eats an Earth Power for his troubles. It still didn't do that much though..

RAIN (3 rounds)

Gastrodoom set up as best he could, but he still looks downright terrified when Poncho hits the field. Not even having to make the first move bothers the Ludicolo as he simply obliterates the Substitute with a powerful Energy Ball. Gastrodoom scrambles to do whatever he can to protect himself by creating four clones to hopefully distract the mexican water monster albeit at a large energy cost. The move pays off in the short term as Poncho is forced to waste a slimilarly high amount of energy Giga Draining a clone. Unfortunately for Imanalt he hasn't thought this all the way through as the Sludge Wave he uses to inflict some super effective if still slightly disappointing damage on Poncho also proceeds to wipe out all his clones! Whoops! To rub some salt into the wounds IAR laughs as Poncho's big hat acts as a Rain Dish and gets him some decent passive recovery going. Poncho is free to hit squarely with an impressive Energy Ball to round us out as Gastrodoom just takes a chill pill and considers the predicament he has found himself in.

so um, im not sure, should sludge wave in fact remove clones? IRC doesnt seem to think so but idk

(just a note, usually i just read through calcs cause i tend to be short on time)

Sludge Wave, like Surf or Earthquake, hits the entire field. Friend and foe. This includes removing friendly clones since they were hit by the attack.

mmk, irc had suggested that the clones would use it like syncrho sort of things such that ally hitmoves didnt remove clones... but idk

anyways, ill swith to lucario@soothe bell

RAIN (2 rounds)

Imanalt and IAR keep on making the hide tags bigger with another switch, thie time of the double variety. Capers, IAR's signature Gliscor hits the field with Razor Fang in tow and quickly shakes the ASB arena with a massive Earthquake. Unfortunately for him Ohai the Lucario Detected that the blow was coming in and jumped off the ground just in time to avoid the assault. Capers is not disheartened by the failure, probably since it cost Lucario a hell of a lot of energy to avoid the attack, and instead just starts taking on a bright glow ready for another powerful attack. Ohai takes this chance to make sure further Earthquakes also miss their mark just before Capers unleashes one hell of a Sky Attack. In fact he even managed to hit it critically thanks to that Razor Fang. Unfortunately Capers did not see the Magnet Rise coming and finishes off with another Earthquake that was all in vain only to have Ohai respond by smacking him right in the face with an Ice Punch which the vampire bat didn't seem to like much. Imanalt looks to be up next and lets see if we can actually have the same mons stay in for two successive rounds here...
