9) Repeat the process from step 3 onward!

The Announcer: "Well folks, this promises to be a pretty intense battle! The most noticeable thing about this matchup is the drastic difference in the two trainers' experience; Zarator, the master of horrors, packs three Pokemon evolved to the second stage, while Temperantia is looking at his (her?) first battle here at the League of Anime-Style Battling! I tell you, folks, in a match like this, Temperantia is going to need all the ingenuity and resourcefulness he (she?) can scrape up if he (she?) wants to overcome the terrors that await within Zarator's team, as well as those of The Shimmering Flats!

"Oh, it looks like the battle is starting! Zarator, as the match-seeker, is the first to send out his Pokemon. Which one will he choose...?"

BATTLE START! ROUND 1, BEGIN!

Laharl stares at the metal kitsune and speaks calmly to his sister.
"This pokemon is powerful... I don't think it was wise to choose this opponent as our first."
"Brother, it is too late to back out now." Lenneth responds in her usual cold manner, "Since you seem to have taken cold feet to this match, it seems I'll have to fight in your stead."
The pokeball in her left hand expands as she shouts, "Mr. Bubbles (Croagunk w/ Anticipation), teach this fool how it is done!"
"Start off with an Earthquake followed by Faint Attack, then another Earthquake!"

Mask, give him something to worry about and burn him with Will-o-Wisp. Then strike from the shadows with Shadowstrike and execute an Earthquake.

With the previous commentator gone I'll be taking over for him, with that said it's a beautiful morning out here on the shimmering flats though it does look a bit desolate with only a handful of people here, ah well. Our challenger Zarator sends his tricky Kitsunoh out onto the field! and after a bit of of quiet talking on the other side Lenneth steps forward with quite a bold claim while she releases her Croagunk onto the field! Let's hope the siblings can live up to that remark.

Round 1, fight!

Ah, Mask wastes no time and immediatly swirls around throwing blue flames from his tail at Mr.Bubbles, owtch! That looked painful. His skin is now looks blisteringly hot. Mr. Bubbles responds by jumping and kicking the ground causing a fearsome Earthquake at the offending Kitsunoh, the tremors didn't look as strong as it could be though, those burns must be making it hard to move.

Hmm? The Kitsunoh is now stalking up to Mr.Bubbles... Suddenly he pounces forward sheathed in shadows and claws poor Mr.Bubbles! That one looked like it pierced the skin, lets hope that doesn't cause too much trouble for him. It doesn't take long for Mr.Bubbles to respond with a super fast attack, I'm not sure exactly what it was but it was effective enough despite Mask's steel armour and those burns.

Mask loops back a bit away from Bubbles and slams his steel masks into the ground, causing another Earthquake at the frog. Mr.Bubbles seemed to know it was coming and jumps up at the last second. the pressure still hurt him an awful lot though, especially with that wound. Mr.Bubbles comes down and, whoa! Causes another Earthquake. The repeated damage from all that shaking might be starting the effect Mask now, he looks a little wobbly. As for me, I'm getting to higher ground before those quakes hurt me!

"Sister, do you see what your haste has cost us? One can't just start throwing out attacks indiscriminately and hope for success!"
"Fine, since you insist on being the backseat trainer, we'll go on the defensive this round. Croagunk Dodge the Earthquake, then use Mud-Slap on Kitsunoh to try and blind it. Finally, Give Kitsunoh a dose of it's own medicine with our own Earthquake!"
The two bicker on for awhile as the referee and challenger stare on...

Dodge -> Mud-Slap -> Earthquake

Ah, that's better, my seat on my floating Duclohm should sort that issue with the Earthquakes. Got a nice view of the battle too! It seems like while the siblings bicker Mask is sitting down and starting to look around, cheeky. Mr.Bubbles keeps his stance, probably knowing what is coming and trying to ignore the conversation behind him. Suddenly Mask moves forward to strike!

Round 2, fight!

Mask unleashes another tremor in Mr. Bubbles direction! Am I glad I'm up here! Anyway, the earthquake rips across the ground and Mr. Bubbles makes an almightly leap! Oh dear, I think it still caught him for the most part though. It's hard to dodge an earthquake even if you're anticipating it.

Oh and here comes another of Mask's speciality shadow strikes. It's extremely eerie, I swear his eyes glow even more while it's happening. It strikes true but it seems like it fails to puncture Mr. Bubble's skin this time. He responds by spitting a large glob of, ew, mucus onto the ground then scooping the dirt up into Mask's face while he's still up close! It's gotten right into the Kitsunoh mask holes. That must sting a bit.

Mask is shaking his head around violently, that liquid must be really irratating, oh! He lunges forward masks glowing white and piles straight into Mr. Bubbles with a stream of stars. Mr Bubble's goes flying backwards and has trouble getting back up. Mask also still appears to be glowing slightly from the attack. Mr. Bubbles leaps, somewhat wonkily, into the air and pushes off another quake putting Mask quite a bit off balance while he's still trying to get that stuff out of his mask. I don't think Mr. Bubbles can last much longer, he looks battered and bruised.

Round 3, fi-

Oh wait, it is over already? Mask just materialised out of Mr.Bubble's shadow and slammed him knocking the poor exhausted thing over. It looks like he can't get back up. Poor frog. In the downtime Mask finally claws most of the dirt out of his mask and loses his slight glow.

Mareep just sits quietly waiting for the opponent to move...

Mmm, a sheep. Well, either way, you are immune to paralysis, so we have little to worry about. Sends a seismic wave under Mareep's feet and cause an Earthquake, then sneak upon it from the shadows and deliver a Shadowstrike. Cause another Earthquake afterwards.

It seems Masks next opponent is the electric sheep, Mareep! Not sure that's a good option considering Mask's fondness of shaking the ground but against a full grown Kitsunoh I don't think they have many options. Zarator's evolved team is a battle of attrition for anybody starting out! The puffball looks raring to go at least!

Round 4, fight!

Mask wastes no time leaping up, twisting around then slamming the ground face first. Good thing Kitsunohs have strong neck muscles, that could hurt. The resulting quake rips across the land and squeezes Cyndi painfully. She fluffs up and retreats into her fur a bit looking pained then suddenly turns all that pain into an electrical attack causing a bolt of energy to rip back across the air homing in to Mask's metallic parts and shocking him.

Mask shakes the pain off fairly easily thanks to being limber and dashes forward towards the sheep. Cyndi responds by electrifying her muscles and dashing away at the last moment causing Mask to jolt forward and barely clips her fluff with his claws. Annoyed at the retreating sheep Mask huffs and swipes the ground causing a puff of dust to fly into the air.

Mask instead of continuing to sulk is urged to keep going by his trainer and crouches down. Calculating the speed and distance of his prey he jumps at a sharp angle to the ground and slams it causing a fast long range Earthquake to tear after Cyndi. Not able to move away in time Cyndi is knocked over by the force. Picking herself up and twisting around Cyndi raises her head up high and looses a single strong bolt from her charged fur which loops around and slams into Mask. For the first time in the match Mask felt a sizable amount of pain and took a moment to get his twitching muscles under control.

Since it boosted on the first action the +1 SpA boost is gone at the end of the round.
The +1 Spe boost will carry over to the next round.
Since Spe boosts are so weak in this game I'm allowing agility as a dodging move and boosting (with a chance to fail depending on the situation).

That was a nice hit you got there, Mareep! Use a Cotton Spore to slow down that fox. Then use Thunderbolt twice. But if Kitsunoh uses Shadowstrike, dodge with Agility again only once.

Use Agility in place of action on turn Kitsunoh uses Shadowstrike once

Round 5, fight!

Hm, Mask summons shadows from within itself, splitting off to create a copy which he then melds into. He probably doesn't want to get smacked around by lightning more than nessessary. While this is occuring Cyndi puffs up even more, oh god so cute, and fires off some of her cotton at Mask. It harmlessly attaches to the clone.

Not finished yet Mask leaps out and causes, yet another quake. Sometimes I wonder if Mask knows how to use much else. Regardless, it adds several more cracks to the collection in the ground and slams Cyndi with incredible pressure causing her to roll around in her fluff a bit. She responds with another jolt of electricity off in Mask's direction, less powerful than before but still incredibly potent, it strikes the sub and causes it to sag a lot.

Now, ah, a repeat performance it seems. With the Pokémon firing and returning the same moves. It seems like they're trying their best to KO each other with the best they have before they themselves are KOed. The second bolt completely destroys the sub but Mask comes out of it relatively well off. He's tired but he certainly has some life left in him. Cyndi however seems in bad shape with all the repeated pressure she's taking. Will Mask finally go down soon?

Round 6, fight!

I can see Cyndi charging up her fur desperately but alas, Mask's reflexes even after repeated abuse of a powerful attack are still sharp and the quake rips across the ground and into Cyndi before she can discharge. She's still standing? Oh she just slowly toppled over and landed softly on her fluff. You know, I swear she was smiling. How odd... Anyway Mask is starting to look a bit ragged now. Surely. Surely, the next Pokémon can take advantage and finally got a point for the team. Well, next up is Venipede!

C'mon Dokuto! Let's start with a Nice Double Team (3 clones) just to annoy Mask. All we have to do is outlast it y'know. We'll Protect against the second turn, unless Mask doesn't use an offensive move. If not then we'll use Pursuit to do the closest thing to an effective hit we can. Then, we'll use Pursuit again either way.

Double Team (3)-> Protect-> Pursuit
If 2nd move isn't offensive (ie targeted at Dokuto)

Well, Mask, you did a fine job, definitely. Now your time has come however! First of all, burn that bug with Will-o-Wisp. Laharl and Lennth release their last Pokémon, Dokuto! Mask is not particularly impressed by the little bug and before he can do anything summons small firey spirits with a silent howl. They converge on Doku and cause nasty burns all over his body with their otherworldly power. Ow. Burns always make me shudder. Doku tightly compacts his body in response then dashes out quickly creating several after images of himself.

His eyes flicking rapidly to the many shimmering forms of Dokuto, Mask puffing his shadowy form up chooses a target and shakes himself vigourously near it showering the potential clone with... feathers? Red feathers, how on earth did he get those? Either way the feathers land harmlessly on a clone which zips off removing the feathers while the real Dokuto slams into Mask from behind. It only makes Mask jolt a little forward slightly.

Turning around Mask's smile seems to grow wider as tendrils of darkness start to spawn and wrap around his form, making him feel bigger and darker, accenting those bloody red eyes. Dokuto, all four images of him, looks on in shock and fear as Mask gets ready to inflict him with a terrible Curse. Bang, down Mask goes the dark energy fading with him. Looks like he was unable to pull off such a powerful attack in his current state, much to the relief of Dokuto I'm sure.

Will-O-Wisp: Burns Venipede, 6 energy.
Featherdance: Miss, 6 energy.
Curse: Not enough energy, too little hp, faints from exhaustion.
Total: Burns Venipede, fails curse, 38 energy.

Venipede, 57 spe, Swarm (3 atk
Double Team (3): 3 clones made, +3 eva, 12 energy.
Pursuit: ((4 + (3 + 3 * 1.5)) / 2 * 1), 2 dmg, 4 energy.

Other
(ghost) Curse costs a whopping 26 energy and half hp. It also can only be used if you're above half hp. Considering how low the energy and hp of Kitsunoh at the time I found it apt to cause a faint in this case.
Venipede suffers 6 hp burn dmg.

Sorry for the wait, for some reason I forgot about this entirely :-(

Either way, let's go Cyric!

(Sadly it's still a Haunter since at that time he was still unevolved)

Blast his with your psychic powers!

Psychic - Psychic - Psychic.
