Arena: A square platform over a sea of toxic waste

The platform is about 50 feet by 50 feet, and roughly 1 foot thick, discouraging seismic moves such as Earthquake and Magnitude, as well as Dig. Ten feet below is a sea of toxic waste. Pokemon can be knocked into the poison, with damage dealt/healed upon landing as follows (Pokemon are automatically teleported back to the platform after the round):

10 damage to Pokemon that are hit super effectively by Poison
5 damage to Pokemon that take neutral damage from Poison
2 damage to Pokemon that 2x resist Poison
1 damage to Pokemon that 4x resist Poison
0 damage to Flying-type, Steel-type, and Levitating Pokemon
+5 health to part-Poison-type Pokemon
+10 health to pure Poison-type Pokemon

In addition, to all Pokemon that take damage from the poison, there is a 20% chance of being poisoned, plus a 10% chance of inflicting Toxic poison. Pokemon can voluntarily jump into the poison at the beginning of the round to heal/avoid all attacks during that round, but they will still take damage, if applicable, and that Pokemon cannot use any moves at all. This can only be done twice per Trainer.

How's that for hazardous?

Very well, challenge accepted!

Galladiator, dan, one of the battles I was reffing just finished, so I might have a vacancy :)

But yeah, I'll take you two again.

PM teams etc.

And thus we find ourselves on a large square platform over a large sea of toxic waste. Each participant can use only one Pokemon, and it will be a fight to the finish between just these two. Participants should be wary of the limits of the platform, because Pokemon can easily fall off, and it is a quite a drop down. However, I will lift Pokemon back up to the platform at the end of the round. And with that said, off you two go! You both know the drill by now, so we can start with Galladiator releasing his first Pokemon!

Okay, I obviously have to go with...
...
...
Roman the Ralts!

(He got haxxed out of a KO in the last battle, so I want to try and make it up to him with a fair battle.)

Since you're going to give Roman a chance at redemption, I'll send out my third Pokemon for that battle, go Anubis!

448.png

*Lucario(M)-Anubis
Nature: Adamant (Adds * to Attack. Subtracts * from Special Defense)

Type: Fighting/Steel
Fighting: Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions of throwing/grappling moves, Meditate and Cheer Up have Energy Cost reduced by one (1).
Steel: Steel STAB; Immune to Sandstorm, highly insusceptible to toxic attacks, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Bomb, can be magnetized.

Abilities:
Steadfast: (Innate) If this Pokemon is flinched, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases speed by one (1) stage to make up the difference.
Inner Focus: (Innate) When an opponent attempts to flinch this Pokemon, it stands firm and continues its attack. If it has another ability that would be activated by flinching, that ability activates.
Justified (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon's body reacts to dark energy, invigorating its passions. When hit by a Dark-type move, the Pokemon's attack will increase one (1) stage. A boost gained this way will be maintained at the end of each round.

Let's start things off with an Agility so even if he teleports to evade, Anubis will be fast enough to react. Then use Swords Dance to increase his attack and finish by using Crunch.

EDIT: I'll choose Inner Focus for the ability.

And sorry Galladiator but I had only sent in 2 Pokemon for this match and both were evolved stages of Pokemon from our last match (I figured since 2 of my Pokemon had evolved since our last battle (and the other is 1 EC away), yours would have evolved as well).

Real classy, dan, using an OU stronghold against a basic stage that isn't even viable in Little Cup...

Okay Roman, you've got a major disadvantage, but at least it'll be fair this time. (I hope...)

Use Psychic to do some early damage, then hit with a Confuse Ray! Finish with a Will-o-Wisp when it comes close to use Crunch!

Recap:
Psychic...Confuse Ray...Will-o-Wisp

EDIT: Oh yeah, Roman's ability for this one will be Trace.

So after a bit of back-and-forth between the players, the Pokemon finally get settled in, abilities and all. Well, Anubis does. Roman looks bloody scared, which is understandable, but nonetheless steps up slowly for a fight. While Anubis gently loosens out his body with Agility, Roman aims a Psychic attack as hard as it can muster in towards Anubis, and it hits him as he relaxes out, causing good damage (considering).

Then, Anubis again starts another boosting ritual, and starts up a vigorous Swords Dance over on his side of the stadium, throwing and juggling swords in an attempt to sharpen his body and mind, hugely boosting his attacks' power. Meanwhile, Roman sends a Confuse Ray his way, in an attempt to stop the devastating oncoming attacks. It works very well, and Anubis ends up badly confused for a bit. It looks around, seemingly lost, before finally turning on Roman, albeit in a rather strange way.

It proceeds to move quickly, gathering speed towards Roman, and with a huge pair of dark jaws gaping out in front of it, looking for a Crunch attack. However, as it gets close, it trips because of the confusion, and when on the ground, attacks itself in its confusion! Roman springs up to take advantage of the fall by sending a big Will-o-wisp towards Anubis, and it badly burns him while he sits. He continues having fun down on the floor, still confused into the next round.

Galladiator, you will have to activate Trace before it has an effect. It doesn't take an action, but it does need to be done.

...Forgot about activating Trace...

Well done, Roman! You've gained a bit of an advantage! Don't give up!

First, activate Trace to copy Lucario's Inner Focus. Start the round with a Psychic, followed by a Shadow Sneak! Finish with another Psychic!

Recap:
Activate Trace...Psychic...Shadow Sneak...Psychic

Considering it was the first battle I'd completed?

I think that was my second battle, but I had managed to complete a few smaller battles during our battle.

Anyways back to the battle. Anubis should still have +2 Attack since it used Swords Dance as his second action if I'm not mistaken.

Use Crunch to start, then hit Roman with a Dark Pulse followed by another Crunch.

If Anubis hurts himself in Confusion, use Crunch for all of his remaining actions.

About the boosts, there is contradictory information around the place. I generally go with your way of doing things, but there is a great deal of inconsistancy. I will give you +2, because I think that is the standard, regardless of what it may say in different threads.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So after the dodgy tricks and dodging of last round, it is good to see some proper attacking being done by the contestants this round. Anubis the Lucario starts off the bidding like last actions: he runs out at Roman the Ralts, a giant pair of dark jaws in front of him. However, this time he pulls of the attack and delivers a huge Crunch to Roman, who responds with a powerful Psychic attack to Anubis, mentally throwing him back a few yards.

However, Lucario, with his increased speed, goes for a Dark Pulse. He lets off a huge wave of dark energy, but he is hit by Roman using Shadow Sneak to get up close quickly and hit him before he is ready. Roman is blown back anyway by the force of the pulse of energy though, and unfortunately it is vulnerable to attack for a time.

Lukario takes advantage of this, again bearing down on Roman with his huge pair of dark jaws, and delivering a huge Crunch to Roman as it lies after that last attack. This jolts Roman awake and alert, and so Roman can quickly return some damage with another Psychic attack, throwing him to the ground like before and delivering a bit more damage. The two looks more equal now, but with the confusion worn off and some strong attacks beginning to flow from Anubis, it is looking dangerous for Roman!

Lucario again starts off the round by stopping quietly to prepare for future attacks. He hatches a Nasty Plot about Roman, so that he can attack more powerfully on his unimpaired special attack stat. However, with him sitting quietly like this, Roman takes the oportunity to fire a Confuse Ray in his direction and it hits him well, making him moderately confused for a while.

After he has finished, Anubis turns around and faces Roman. After his Nasty Plot from before, it is easy for him to summon darkness from all over the area and deliver a huge Dark Pulse in all directions, but just as he goes to direct it towards Roman, he suddenly can't quite manage it in his confusion and he misses, hitting himself with the attack instead. Roman takes advantage of the reprieve to fire a Shadow Ball back at Anubis, and it takes advantage of the darkness already gathered to hit even harder than it previously had.

Finally, Anubis, angry at not correctly getting off the last attack, tries to let off another Dark Pulse by gathering together all of that dark energy from around the place, and with his anger fuelling his attack, it is let off in spectacular fashion at Ralts, who is completely bowled over by it. It takes some time for Roman to get back up, but eventually it does and unleashes another Psychic attack at Lucario, who was resting after a large attack before. Anubis is thrown to the ground again, but has hit Roman hard enough with the Dark Pulse that he can get up again, ready for the next round.

Well done, Roman! Don't let up now!

Fire another Confuse Ray, then hit with a Psychic! If he attacks for his third action, use Psychic again, if not just chill.

Shut your eyes so you can't see the Confuse Ray, then use 2 Dark Pulses and focus on pushing Roman off the platform with these attacks

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This time, the round starts off in a strange fashion: Anubis stands his ground and shuts his eyes, not moving. He stands still, watching Roman only through aura, and eventually Roman decides that no trick is being played, and lets off a Confuse Ray. A ray of bright, weirdly flashing light covers Anubis, but everyone can soon see that because Anubis has his eyes closed, he is not confused by the confuse ray! Roman eventually stops with the light, out of energy, and Anubis opens his eyes, to reveal murderous intent after his quiet first action.

He jumps up, and while up in the air lets off another huge pulse of dark energy towards Roman. The Dark Pulse hits her down on the ground, and it knocks her back because of the boost from Lucario's Nasty Plot from last round. However, Roman gets up and lets off another huge Psychic attack. Lucario is thrown to the ground, but not beaten, and he gets up looking for a finishing blow against a very weak Roman.

He again jumps up, and delivers a devastating Dark Pulse to Roman again, but this time it hits so hard that after the long battle Roman just cannot keep up with it, and collapses into a heap, unconscious. With only one Pokemon left, this means danmantincan is the winner! It has been a good fight from both contestants, and a surprisingly even one too, but in the end it was always Anubis keeping the pressure on and he was the better Pokemon on the day. gg and wp everyone!
