Hello. It is someone there? As you may know, the Nintendo Wii has a Virtual Console feature, where you can download old classics and relive the good times. Here, I will review some of the choice games (and not so choice games) I have downloaded, so you can be a careful buyer and spend your Wii Points wisely. You expect no less?
First of all, let me explain how it works. You can purchase Wii Point cards from a store, or use your credit card to buy them online. It's then a matter of going to the Wii Store, and spending your points on the game you want. NES and some Genesis games can be played with the Wiimote, however, SNES and N64 games will require either a Gamecube controller, or a Wii Classic Controller (which is a recommended purchase). Now, onto the games!
NES (500 Wii Points)
The Legend of Zelda
The very first of the critically acclaimed Zelda series, which had a huge impact on gaming at the time of its release. But how does it hold up today? Well, as you can see by the screenshot, the graphics have not aged well, and the free-roaming gameplay, which groundbreaking at the time, becomes somewhat frustrating these days. Due to the lack of plot during the actual game, you don't know where the fuck to go next half the time.
Still, that being said, it is a fun, moderately challenging game that is decent in length (due, in part, to a second adventure being available after finishing the game the first time), and it's always interesting to see how the Zelda series has developed since the beginning.

Super Mario Bros.
This game will always remain a classic, and is really quite playable even after all these years. The tunes are still kickass, the secret warp zones are still there, and the game mechanics are still as fun as ever. A great game to play when you are bored, although there is not a lot of depth to this game; it's very much an arcade style game. Indeed, games have come a long way since this one, but not many have this "pick up and play" quality to them. Quality stuff, recommended!
Steelikes' Official Score: 8.5/10
Kid Icarus
As much as I like this game, there are problems with it. The game is very hard, to the point of frustration at times, and the version downloadable on the Wii apparently removed some of the cheat codes... which effectively makes it 95% of the game it was once before. Despite all that, it is still a recommended purchase. Good platforming fun; this is what the original Metroid game should have been. And I love the theme tune!
Steelikes' Official Score: 7/10
Kirby's Adventure
I was too hard on this game before, so I decided to re-review it. I am a fan of Kirby's later titles, and this NES title is a worthy entry in the series. It is a long, reasonably challenging game with a lot of depth and secrets, and fantastic graphics for the system. The problem is that the graphics are "too good", so to speak, and result in slowdown and flickering. This really impacts on how fun the game is. Still, Kirby fans would be mad to pass this one up, and anyone else should consider checking it out.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7.5/10
Castlevania
People who know me well are likely to know that I am quite the Castlevania fan. Yes, I did enjoy this game, but it suffers from the same problem as Kid Icarus: the difficulty. In fact, this game might be even harder; the bosses are just insane, and anything you throw at them is NOTHING compared to what they can hit you with. That said, it is still a fun adventure, with neat music and bosses. It comes as recommended from me... as long as you've tried other games in the series first.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7/10
Punch Out!!
I was a bit hard on this one too at first, so I gave it another look... but really, there is not a lot to this game. Yeah, it's a lot of fun at first, and is quite challenging (if you get to the last fight, good luck... you'll need it), but once you understand the patterns of your opponents, it basically becomes a practice of memorisation and timing. If it had a two player mode, I would recommend it in a heartbeat. As it is, however, it is a classic title that gets old fast.
Steelikes' Official Score: 6/10
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I had to download this after seeing the Angry Nintendo Nerd review. What can I say? I'm curious when it comes to bad games, and this most certainly is bad. It is impossible to control, and therefore, it's impossible to enjoy. The only useable turtles are the ones with the long weapons; the turtle with the nunchuks dies just trying to attack something. The graphics are muddy and ugly, and the enemies are uninteresting. Everything is wrong with this game. Steer clear.
Steelikes' Official Score: no/10
Super Mario Bros. 2
The dark horse of the original Super Mario trio, this game is a little bit of genius. With four selectable characters, each with different abilities, this game is a fun romp with a completely new style of Mario gameplay. In step of stomping the shit out of foes, you now pick them up and throw them, as well as other objects you might pull out of the ground. This works towards adding an element of exploration in the gameplay.
Because it's so different, it's not hugely popular... but I just love it. It may not be as good as the next game in the trio, but this game is highly recommended. In fact, it's probably my favourite 2D Mario game.

Adventures of Lolo
People who are waiting for a great puzzle game, wait no more. This cute little game kicks ass; I've owned it for a day, and I can't stop playing. You control Lolo, that cute little blob from Kirby fame, as you navigate through 50 levels to try and save Lala. Yeah, dumb story, but it's the gameplay that matters, and this one is a real winner. You have to collect all the hearts in a level to gain access to the exit, and very early in the game, you'll be scratching your head regarding how to avoid and utilize the monsters and items on screen to accomplish this goal.
Not an easy one, but fantastic, addictive fun. Graphics are very clean and crisp for a NES title, but again, it's the gameplay that pleased me the most. Recommended!
Steelikes' Official Score: 9/10
Megaman
I am a huge fan of the original NES Megaman games, and the original is a fabulous little classic. If you don't know, you control a little blue robot who must defeat six robot masters. When you defeat one, you acquire their specialty weapon, such as throwing bombs around when you defeat Bombman. It is a challenging, but addictive game, with memorable boss and enemy characters. The only really bad part about this game is that it is beaten by some of it's sequels, and that too many characters on the screen can cause slowdown. That said, this is very recommended!
Steelikes' Official Score: 8/10
Metroid
The first in a line of popular games, people tend to be torn regarding their opinion on this game. Like the original Zelda game, this game sends you right into the thick of things, with no map or real direction. In addition to this, unlike Zelda, you are likely to hit a lot of dead ends, too.
All that being said, it's a very good game. The action and exploration aspects are very enjoyable, the boss battles are extremely well done, and the soundtrack will always remain a classic. This game was completely outdone by later games in the franchise, but if you want to see where it all started, 500 Wii points is a very reasonable asking price.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7.5/10
Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels
The official sequel to the original Super Mario Bros. game, this was originally only released in Japan, but is now available for Wii Virtual Console. Why wasn't it released in the States? Well, the absolute maddening difficulty might have something to do with it, as well as offering no real graphic or gameplay updates.
For those who loved the original game (as you should), and are seeking a challenge of absolute titanic proportions, this game is recommended. And for casual fans and completists, it may also be worth checking out, too. Be aware that it costs 600 Wii Points instead of the usual 500, and it is no longer available for download in Europe.
Steelikes' Official Score: 8/10
Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest
Castlevania fans are probably still scratching their heads over why exactly Konami created this one. It is such a different game to the original and the excellent third game, incorporating RPG elements and chatting with townspeople as well as the standard whip-wielding fun. At the time of its release, it was not well received.
This would be a game I normally could not recommend, however, when playing on the Wii Virtual Console, it suddenly becomes a lot better. Why? Because of the "resume play" feature (like save states in emulators), that allows you to continue from where you left off, instead of fumbling around with huge passwords. Overall, it is a long, enjoyable adventure game that should be tried out if you're looking for something a bit different.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7.5/10
Super Mario Bros. 3
Regarded by many as the greatest Mario game of all time, it's hard to argue against the majority, really (although I still prefer Mario 64). With a huge amount of levels (and a choice of whether you want to complete them all or not), tons of new secrets and power ups, and colourful, clean graphics... this game has it all. The inclusion of a map screen, and the ability to store power ups for future use, were simply ingenious ideas for the time. This is a classic game that should last you a good, long while. Get it! 500 Wii points is nothing!
Steelikes' Official Score: 9.5/10
Bubble Bobble
This game rocks =) It's a cute little platformer/puzzle game, requiring players to defeat all the enemys on the screen by capturing them in bubbles, and then bursting them. There is 100 levels in this game, meaning that should last you a good long while. It is a challenging game at times, and is far more enjoyable in two player mode. This game is recommended for puzzle game enthusiasts... so long as you pick up Lolo first.
Steelikes' Official Score: 8/10
Megaman 2
While Megaman was a great way to start off the series, Megaman 2 adjusted the formula to near perfection. It follows a similar pattern to the original game, where you defeat different robots at the end of their stages to gain new weapons, but this time, the whole experience is a lot more enjoyable. The stages are more creative and detailed overall, and the music is simply outstanding, particularly on Dr Wily's stage. This may be the best NES game available on the Wii so far. It doesn't get much better than this!
Steelikes' Official Score: 10/10
River City Ransom (Street Gangs)
This game is a major cult classic, combining simple "Double Dragon" type gameplay with RPG elements. To be blunt, this game just plain rocks, especially with a friend. The cooperative mode really sells this game, as you beat up tons of different gang members, raise your stats by eating food and using other items, and even learn new attacks to unleash upon your foes. It is a fun, fast game that has tons of replay value. BARF!
Steelikes' Official Score: 8/10
SNES (800 Wii Points)
Donkey Kong Country
If this game was anymore kickass, it would be called "Donkey Kong Country 2" (the absolutely sublime sequel). There is so much good to be said about the graphics and sound of this game; both set a totally new benchmark for the SNES. The character design and music are fantastic, and the level design, interesting and colourful. It is a reasonably challenging and lengthly game, and one is lead to wonder how the hell they managed to cram so much into a SNES cart. And while the gameplay might not be as deep as some other titles, not many games beat this one in terms of pure fun.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9/10
Contra 3
This game is so hard, you think it was developed for the NES xD! If you can get past the difficulty (probably with the help from a second player), it is a short, but fun, game. In my opinion, this game is slightly outdone by Gunstar Heroes and Vectorman, and they aren't really my type of game either; still, this game is a heap of fun, especially with a friend. Overall, this is recommended if you like this 'crazy shoot shit on the screen' genre.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7/10
Super Mario World
Okay, I had to re-review this one, since a lot of people told me that I haven't done this title justice. And they were probably right. This is a really big adventure, with many secret levels and routes, with fun, exciting gameplay. While it may not be as fast as Sonic, or as pretty as DKC, this game takes them both to school in terms of gameplay. It has aged well, and is a recommended title. The problems I have are in terms of presentation (where everything looks a bit washed out), and music (not a huge soundtrack). But gameplay is what's important, and you can't get much better than this.
Steelikes' Official Score: 8.5/10
Super Ghosts 'n' Ghouls
Forget Kid Icarus or Castlevania... this game sets a whole new benchmark on the term 'hard'. You don't know the meaning of the word until you try this game! Monsters are constantly coming at you, it only takes two hits to die, and when you do, you usually have to restart the level. However, as mind-numbingly hard as it is, it's a fun arcade-style game, that is fast paced and unforgiving. But if you don't have any patience, stay the hell away.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7.5/10
Street Fighter 2: The World Champion
Street Fighter 2 is a classic series of games, featuring memorable characters and good, balanced gameplay. To this day, there are still Street Fighter 2 tournaments, showing that the action hasn't aged one bit. That said, I have to give this title a low score, since it is inferior to the other Street Fighter 2 releases, such as Turbo and Super. A wise fan of the game would wait for these titles to be released first, instead of wasting their Wii points on this one.
Steelikes' Official Score: 6/10
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
This surprising little gem is highly recommended. It is a fun RPG/platform hybrid with a wacky japanese sense of humour, and absolutely ridiculous monsters and bosses. It even has a two player co-operative mode, ala Contra 3 (although nowhere near as hard, and a lot more silly). The soundtrack is also outstanding (although beat by the sequel for the N64, which I pray will come to VC soon). Recommended, especially if you are looking for something different.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9/10
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
I honestly cannot say enough about the quality of this title. It might very well be my favourite game of all time; it's all here, and it's all perfect. The graphics are clean, colourful and pleasent to look at, and the soundtrack gives the adventure an atmosphere like no other. But the gameplay in this title, in all honesty, is unparalleled. It is an adventure you wish would never end, as you explore dungeons looking for a new piece of treasure, wander around the huge overworld looking for secrets, or just simply having fun in the minigames. And the light/dark world idea is just absolute genius. I can bet you one million dollars that there will never be another Zelda game that matches the quality of this.
Steelikes' Official Score: 10/10
Super Castlevania IV
This game kicks so much ass, it is incomprehensible. This is easily one of my favourite games on the VC. The fantastic graphics and special effects are one thing, and the non-stop awesomeness of the fast paced and challenging gameplay are another (and challenging is an understatement). But what knocks this game out of the ballpark is one of the best game soundtracks of all time, with memorable tunes that give the game a real atmosphere. Trust me, you need to snap this one up.
Steelikes' Official Score: 10/10
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country was really something, but the quality of DKC2 was unprecedented. This is the best 2D platformer I've ever played; it has, literally, everything you could ask for, and more. The graphics improve from DKC, with absolutely fantastic level design (my jaw hit the ground when I first laid eyes on that giant beehive stage), and the soundtrack is famous for being one of the greatest ever created. The gameplay has improved a ton, with piggyback moves between the Kongs, and a lot more unlockable secrets and collectables. This is one for the ages.
Steelikes' Official Score: 10/10
Super Metroid
Best game ever?? Probably not, but it's certainly up there. After the pretty good first two Metroid games, I don't think anybody was expecting such an unprecedented jump in terms of quality and entertainment value. In this game, Samus explores a huge world that steadily becomes more accessible to her as she aquires new weapons, similar to Link to the Past.
This game really has it all: great graphics, an absolutely perfect soundtrack, gameplay that balances out action with exploration, screen-shaking boss battles (how about that Ridley, huh?), and an atmosphere that is absolutely perfect. I probably don't need to tell you this, but this is one essential Virtual Console purchase.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9.5/10
Donkey Kong Country 3
This is the last game in the series of Donkey Kong Country games. DKC2 was considered a significant improvement over the original game, so does DKC3 continue the trend? Unfortunately, no. The main problem with this game is the level and character design are really bland and unappealing, which were major factors in what made the first two games great. The environment include docks, mills and forests, and they're generally uninteresting... especially in comparison to the last game.
That said, it is still a quality adventure, and DKC fans who really cannot get enough should pick this up. It can be ignored by anyone else though.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7/10
Harvest Moon
When I heard this got released for Europe VC, I pissed myself with excitement. This game is ridiculously hard to find, and sells for high prices on Ebay. It was the first game in the popular Harvest Moon franchise, and as such, was quite sought after. Now, it appears on Virtual Console, in all it's retro glory. So how does it play?
If you have never played a Harvest Moon game before, it is essentially a farming simulator. You grow crops, raise animals, cut down lumber and mingle with the townsfolk as you work to create a successful farm. At times, the game can even seem like work, but raking in the cash has a really rewarding feeling to it. The graphics and sound are simple but functional, but the game hits home with it's (at the time) unique gameplay. You can even woo one of the girls in the village, get married, and have kids! There are a ton of secrets to this game, and no two games can be played the same.
I think this is an essential purchase; that said, it is not for everyone. If you want fast, exciting gameplay, look elsewhere. Those looking for a relaxing, thought-provoking experience can't do much better than this underappreciated gem.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9.5/10
Super Street Fighter 2
If you want to play Street Fighter 2 on your Wii, then this is the version to get. Adding new characters (Dee Jay!) and moves, and balancing out old ones, has created arguably one of the most entertaining and engaging figthers of all time. There's not a whole lot more to be said about this one, except that Blanka's electric attack is gay. =)
Steelikes' Official Score: 8.5/10
N64 (1000 Wii Points)
Super Mario 64
Probably my favourite Mario game of all time, this is a timeless classic. The freedom this game offers allows you to progress at your own pace, and effectively create your own adventure. Only 70 stars are required to complete the game, but you will probably not be able to stop playing until you get all 120. The 3D graphics are dated, but look great coming out of the Wii, and the soundtrack is about as diverse as Super Mario World (not very). But gameplay is what's important, and fortunately, that didn't age in the slightest.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9/10
Mario Kart 64
Another classic game, like Mario 64, but there is a problem here... more due to the emulation than the actual game. First of all, features such as saving ghost times have been removed, which would piss some people (nerds) off. And while the Wii really makes the 3D graphics look cleaner and sharper, the 2D sprites remain unchanged... and they are used to represent the racers. Oops. It looks like you are driving a very ugly Paper Mario.
Still, it's a good game, although certainly one of the lesser Mario Kart titles. Multiplayer is where this one really shines, so if you get some friends around, have a blast. But if that's not likely to happen, just don't bother.
Steelikes' Official Score: 6/10
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Kickassery like this can only be matched by games like Link to the Past... which is another Zelda title! Nothing has aged one bit; it's all here, and it's all awesome. Get it, no matter what. The graphics are still admirable, and the soundtrack is most suitable. The gameplay is classic Zelda, with awesome treasures and items to help you solve ingenius puzzles. Whoever thought iron boots could be so useful?
Any complaints? Well, playing the game with a classic controller isn't quite as good as the N64 controller (due mostly to the C-pad becoming a joystick, which is awkward at times). And some of the 2D sprites, like Mario Kart, look kinda gay. But those complaints are very minor. One of the best games ever, and easily one of the best available for your VC.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9.5/10
Lylat Wars / Starfox 64
The classic N64 game, Lylat Wars (or Starfox 64 outside of Europe), has finally found it's way to the Wii Virtual Console. This is literally one of those games that has not aged one bit. The gameplay is still frantic and fun, the dialogue has a corny, campy quality to it, and it has bucketloads of replay value.
There is a slight problem, however, with the controls. Lylat Wars was designed for use with a N64 controller, and the joystick that is used to represent the C-Pad on the Wii Classic Controller is awkward to use. But it doesn't take long to get the hang of it. All in all, this game is highly recommended.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9/10
Paper Mario
Fantastic stuff indeed. While not quite matching the quality of the SNES Mario RPG, this game is a real winner. It is a lengthly, charming game that boasts memorable characters (Jr Troopa xD), simple but surprisingly deep gameplay, and a spot-on difficulty level; you won't get stuck for too long, so the game never becomes frustrating. This game is outstanding value for money, and if you were as unlucky as me not to have played it in the N64 days, you really must pick this up. This is an essential purchase for your Wii VC collection.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9.5/10
F-Zero X
I actually bought this game on impulse, as I have had no previous experience with games from this franchise, and I had the Wii Points to spare. Well, let me tell you: this is one game I definitely do NOT regret buying. Although the game has crummy graphics, the overall sense of speed and exhilaration you get from racing cannot be found in many other titles.
Unlike most racers for the N64, this game is devoid of weapons and items, and instead focuses on the racing aspect (although you can smash other racers off the course completely; really satistying!), and does so through allowing you to race at a speed that gives me motion sickness sometimes! The courses are interesting, with loops and tunnels that you can drive on the ceiling of, although the game lacks character and colour overall. That said, it is a very good purchase... unless you own the (allegedly) superior Gamecube game.
Steelikes' Official Score: 8.5/10
Yoshi's Story
I had fond memories of playing this game when I was younger, so when it was released on Virtual Console, I decided to download it. Mistake. This overly juvenille, ridiculously easy game is just a waste of cash; while the 2D graphics and art direction are impressive, it is simply not a fun game to play. The bosses are way too easy, and the game can be beaten in about an hour. No good at all, and a terrible follow-up to Yoshi's Island, one of the greatest games of all time
Steelikes' Official Score: 5/10
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
This is a hard game to review. On one hand, it introduces a fantastic power combining system (such as combining fire and cutter to create a flaming sword) which is fun to experiment with, as well as being a generally enjoyable romp. That said, the baddies and bosses are a bit on the boring side, as well as the environments you explore. As far as Kirby games go, this is one of the lesser titles. That said, it is still pretty good. If you are a Kirby fan, get this one for sure... others may want to look elsewhere.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7/10
Sega Genesis/Megadrive (800 points)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Well, there's not really bad that can be said about this game, except that it may be less impressive now than you remember it as a child. It's solid, speedy fun, but lacks depth, especially if you compare it to its obvious rival, Super Mario World. Plus, that water zone is a fucking bitch. Still recommended for fans, or people wanting to relive their childhood. It's still my favourite Sonic title, and I doubt that will ever change.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7.5/10
Ristar
Graphically and in terms of sound, this game is a winner. Ristar and his stupid looking foes look great, and the music is kickass. However the problem lies with the slow, plodding gameplay. Ristar kills things by grabbing them and hitting them with his head, and this is how many puzzles are solved. The whole thing kinda reminds me of Kirby's Adventure, and that's not my favourite game.
Still, it can be a lot of fun the first time around, if you don't mind the slow pacing. And this game has some kickass boss battles; it has to be said.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7/10
Gunstar Heroes
Yes, this isn't my sort of game. But it is better than Contra 3. Tons of shit is happening at one time, and it is kinda fun brawling your way through it... especially with a friend. The innovative weapons feature allows you to combine elements, producing different weapons for you to blast your enemies in the non-stop chaos that happens on screen. Fast paced and fun, you'll love this one if you're a fan of this genre.
Steelikes' Official Score: 8/10
Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
A fun puzzle game that me and Hazerider are both fans of, it is essentially a Puyo Puyo ripoff. Combine four types of the same colour beans to clear them, and send trash to your foes side of the screen. If you get combos, more trash gets sent over, and so on. You know the drill. This game is especially kickass in multiplayer, but the single player can get tedious (and very, very hard). This is probably the best puzzle game available on VC so far, though, so it should certainly be considered.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7.5/10
Vectorman
One of the last games released for the Genesis, and this one kicks some ass. The graphics are some of the best you'll see on the system, and the Contra style gameplay is perfectly mixed with platforming, making for a fun adventure. There are a few gay stages that will just confuse you, but overall, this one gets the thumbs up. It honestly looks better than some of the titles released on the Playstation!
Steelikes' Official Score: 8.5/10
Sonic Spinball
A Sonic game that is mixed with pinball. Yeah, it's about as good as it sounds, I'm afraid. At first it seems promising, and the mechanics of the game hold up for a while, but eventually the whole thing becomes extremely boring and tedious. Basically, you have to hit numerous targets to get access to the chaos emerald or boss, and this can take some time due to shoddy pinball physics. And if you die, you have to hit them all, all over again. Gayness.
In terms of graphics, it looks ok, but probably worse than the original Sonic game (which there is no excuse for, really). And the soundtrack in places is so awful it killed my brain a little. On top of dodgy gameplay, what are we left with? Not a recommended game.
Steelikes' Official Score: 3.5/10
Alex Kidd and the Enchanted Castle
For the love of fuckin God, man! What the HELL is this shit!? Why the fuck did I download it? Alex Kidd slides around stages like he's fuckin lubricated, throwing punches that have a smaller range than GGFan's penis. Everything about this game, except maybe the decent graphics, just suck shit. This might be the worst game I've played on the Wii VC so far. Even if you were a fan of the Master System classic (like I am), don't even think about getting this.
Steelikes' Official Score: GGFan's penis/10
Comix Zone
It was actually Mike (skarm) who recommended this game to me. Heh. I just wish he would stop ignoring me, you know? There is one thing I would love more than anything else, and that is the chance to win his acceptance. Please, Mike.
Oh um, the game... right. This game's style and look is just awesome, as you jump from comic book panels and engage in combate with dumb foes and villains. The game is very hard, it has to be said; the subweapons are near useless, you only have one life, and you have a limited amount of moves at your disposal. But it is an undeniably fun brawler, and if you are willing to stick with the difficulty, it becomes a recommended purchase.
Steelikes' Official Score: 8/10
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
This is a classic adventure; I remember almost pissing myself with excitement when this game was first announced, and I was like 10 years old or whatever. This game introduces Tails, Sonic's two tailed sidekick, and expands upon the first game with more levels and more colourful graphics. There is a two player competitve and co-operative mode, and an awesome reward for passing those hard as hell bonus stages. It's an excellent adventure that has aged well; although I, personally, prefer the original game, from a more objective stand-point, this game is better.

Bomberman '93
Bomberman kicks ass, there are no ifs or buts about it. Simplicity is best when it comes to Bomberman, and this game is pretty much what you're looking for. This game has a kickass multiplayer, where you can not only use four wiimotes for four players, but even attach a gamecube controller for a fifth player! Kickassery like this was unprecedented.
However, once your friends go home, you are left with a game that is about as fun to play as that Ninja Turtles game. It is so slow and boring that it will make you cry, even when they do try and mix things up a bit by adding boss characters. This game is only recommended if you have friends over often. If you don't, deduct four points from the score I'm going to give it.
Steelikes' Official Score: 7.5/10
Dragon's Curse
This is a port from Wonderboy 3 for the Sega Master System, which was one of the best games on that system. It's not hard to see why; this game mixes platforming fun with some RPG elements, allowing for some interesting gameplay. Your character takes on many forms in this game; for example, one can fly, and another can fit in small spaces, etc. This adds yet another puzzle element to the game. It is quite a unique adventure, which suffers slightly from perhaps being a bit repetitive at times. That said, it is certainly worth considering.
Steelikes' Official Score: 8/10
Bonk's Adventure
After seeing some good reviews for this game, I decided to try it out, and possibly download the sequels if I liked this one. Well, let me tell you, I do not like this at all. Bland graphics and characters, coupled with boring, slow gameplay and repetitive music... it is a COMPLETE mystery to me why this game is so well received. I have played way better platformers than this, and a lot of them weren't even "big name" ones like this. My advice is to steer clear unless you are a fan.
Steelikes' Official Score: 4/10
Neo Geo
Metal Slug
You have probably played a Metal Slug game before, and don't need me to tell you that it's a lot of fun. However, on the Wii Virtual Console, this game is mind-blowing. With fantastic graphics and sound, it is a real stunner... but the fast, furious gameplay is the main seller. I honestly don't think there will ever be a better shooter released on the Wii Virtual Console. You can fight waves and waves of soldiers, tanks, planes and bombers by yourself or with a friend, and the action never lets up. For 900 Wii points, I consider this a steal.
Steelikes' Official Score: 9.5/10
First of all, let me explain how it works. You can purchase Wii Point cards from a store, or use your credit card to buy them online. It's then a matter of going to the Wii Store, and spending your points on the game you want. NES and some Genesis games can be played with the Wiimote, however, SNES and N64 games will require either a Gamecube controller, or a Wii Classic Controller (which is a recommended purchase). Now, onto the games!

Steelikes' Official Score: 8.5/10

BARF!
