Jirachi, the Wish Pokemon.

Stats: 100/100/100/100/100/100
Type: Steel/Psychic
Trait: Serence Grace (Doubles effect of attacks)

STAB in bold.

Physical Movepool:

Rock Smash
Zen Headbutt
U-Turn
Drain Punch
Fling
Treasure
Body Slam (RSE)
Thunderpunch (RSE)
Fire Punch (RSE)
Ice Punch (RSE)

Special Movepool:

Psychic
Doom Desire
Water Pulse
Hidden Power
Thunder(bolt)
Shadow Ball
Energy Ball
Charge Beam
Grass Knot
Flash Cannon

Support Movepool:

Wish
Reflect
Light Screen
Protect
Gravity
Healing Wish
Cosmic Power
Calm Mind
Toxic
Safeguard
Thunder Wave
Stealth Rock
Psych Up
Substitute
Trick Room

JIRACHI! The cute little star thing. Wish god.

What I really hate about DP Jirachi is that the RSE Obi set (Body Slam/Protect/Wish/Doom Desire) is almost invalid due to DD going special. All is not lost, though.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
252 HP/136 Def/104 SAttk/16 Spd
-Doom Desire
-Psychic/Thunder
-Wish
-Protect

Just replace Body Slam with a special attack. Psychic has STAB(and 20% SDef drop), Thunder has that 60% para chance (but Duggy lols at you). You could also do something else, depending on what your team needs.

CBJira changed a lot, though

Jirachi @ Choice Band/Life Orb
252 HP/112 Atk/144 Def
-Rock Smash
-U-Turn
-Zen Headbutt
-Thunder/Fire/Ice Punch/Body Slam

So many attacks. U-Turn to damage/switch, Zen for STAB, Rock Smash because of 100% defense drop. Elemental Punches, Aerial Ace (although Zen Headbutt takes Hera just as well), Body Slam (60% para). You could add more attack, but this set can hit Duggy on the switch, survive its EQ, and then finish it off.

Jirachi @ Life Orb/Leftovers
252 HP/124 Def/32 Spd/100 SpA

-Calm Mind/Charge Beam
-Wish
-Grass Rope/Hidden Power/Shadow Ball/Energy Ball/Doom Desire/Psychic/Thunder/Thunderbolt/Water Pulse
-Grass Rope/Hidden Power/Shadow Ball/Energy Ball/Doom Desire/Psychic/Thunder/Thunderbolt/Water Pulse

CMJirachi. Pick two. If you want, you can use Charge Beam + Serene Grace, but it will need more SDef.

And then there is the Support Jirachi:

Jirachi @ Leftovers
252 HP/(whatever)
-Wish
-Pick three of Light Screen/Safeguard/Reflect/Thunder Wave/Toxic/Gravity/Healing Wish/Stealth Rock/Psych Up/Trick Room

There are so many things support Jirachi can do. Set up Trick Room, Stealth Rock, Wish, Status, Pseudo Pass, etc.

So now you will discuss the versatile wishing star thing. I will be back when I get a Capri Sun.

I love that set because it solves the problems I had when using a support-tailored Jirachi - it had nearly no offense to speak of, it often had to use Wishes for itself and Dugtrio had a way too easy time wrapping it up. Wishing, then U-Turning your way out is so cool.

Jirachi is just a sexcellent support Pokemon and a powerful Calm Minder as well with one of the best typings in the game. It probably remains the best non-Pursuit answer to Gengar as well.

I like U-turn/Reflect/Wish/Psychic. Well...credit to whoever made this set with ZH > Psy, although I ran Psychic because it destroys Weezing

I had considered Psychic, but the 40% flinch on Zen Headbutt sounded nice and couldn't think of an acceptable nature. What nature/EVs did you run on the Psychic one?

I just ran Impish because it 2HKOs Wheezer anyway.

I pretty much ran your spread, except the Atk EVs go to SA.

I made a team quite a while ago. A Sandstorm team. And I checked all the threatlists including unorthodox stuff like Zangoose. Then I checked the Defensive threats and found Weezing could hold off my team very long. I decided to scrap Zen Headbutt for Psychic just to cover that

Still 2HKOs Heracross too. The other advantage of Psychic is if you end up getting burned by Gengar/Weezing on the switch-in, your ability to attack isn't entirely crippled. I might be inclined to just go with Bold as U-Turn isn't really for doing damage and you're missing the possible 2HKO on Dugtrio anyway, since you're losing the Attack EVs.

It essentially comes down do which do you prefer - flinching or special downs, both of which have their own merits.

Moveset I plan on trying:

Jirachi @ Leftovers/Lum berry
Modest Nature
Ev Spread: 252 HP/ 128 Def / 128 S.def
- Cosmic Power
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Psychic
- Charge Beam
- Wish / Substitue

Basicly, he sets up mid game, once skarmory is out, if packing Psychic I dont fear Weezing at all, Wish or Substitue is a matter of testing, as Im not sure wich one would be better, Hidden Power Ice is there to complement the other attack [Makeshift-Boltbeam]
Charge Beam has a [lol] 140% chance of raising Special Attack, and hits rather good.
After a Single Cosmic Power, you have 400 Defence and 400 Special Defence! say hello Bronzong!

Saying you'll be setting up mid-game is just a poor excuse for avoiding the fact he is going to be countered by Skarmory.

I would see that set working if it had Wish, Substitute, Charge Beam, Cosmic Power AND attacking verstatility though. But you need Substitute to scout out CHs, Wish to heal yourself, Cosmic Power for the whole point of the set, Charge Beam to actually raise your power and other attacking moves to touch Grounds, Electrivire and stuff...

252 HP / 96 Def / 160 Spd will yield 398 HP / 282 Def / 270 Spd, enough to survive Dugtrio and outspeed Adamant Heracross.

252 HP / 96 Def / 56 Spd / 104 SDef reaches 244 Speed for Jolly Tyranitar. Special Defense EVs can be moved into Attack or Defense if you want.

Those two spreads are technically the original EV spread (or as close as possible), I just adjusted them according to your Jirachi's IVs. If you use the original spread you only get 264 Speed, 395 HP and 277 Defense.

If you've got Heracross well covered with the rest of your team, go with the slower 244 Speed version. If not, use the 270 Speed one. Hera still 2HKOs with CB Close Combat/Megahorn, but since you're faster you can flinch him with Zen Headbutt. Zen Headbutt is only a 2HKO, but it'll OHKO if you switch in on Close Combat (after the Defense drop).

I think the two best Jirachi sets are.

'The old standard'

- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Wish/Substitute
- Thunderbolt/Hp Ice

'The new popular one'

- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt
- Wish
- Light Screen/Reflect/Elemental Punch

I'm no expert, but I'm having reasonable success with Calm Mind, Grass Knot, Thunderbolt and Psychic.

I'm going to experiment with wish instead of CM, and go with a life orb.

Yeah, I know this is an old thread. But I wanted to ask about Jirachi. Can a timid Jirachi still use Zen headbutt effectively? Or should it run a calm mind set instead?
