Doggiez Pride - Granbull Discussion

http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/210.shtml

Base Stats
HP: 90 Attack: 120 Defense: 75 Sp. Attack: 60 Sp. Defense: 60
Speed: 45

Overview

Granbull is generally seen as being overshadowed by Ursaring, because of a slightly better trait in Guts, and better stats. But with the Physical/Special split, Granbull could move up to BL. I also support the Bulldogs in NRL, so there.

Traits
Intimidate: Upon Granbull's Entry in Battle, all opponent's Attack Stats are lowered
Quick Feet: If Granbull is inflicted with a Status Condition, its Speed Increases

Quick Feet is the speed version of Guts. It's a great trait to make up for Granbull's horrible speed. Intimidate is cool, as always.

Notable Movepool
Please note I will not put gimmicks here, such as Natural Gift.
Physical
Fire Fang
Ice Fang
Thunder Fang
Close Combat
Crunch
Rock Slide
Stone Edge
Facade
Brick Break
Return
Earthquake
Iron Tail
Focus Punch

A great movepool. But then again this is the movepool of a run-of-the-mill physical attacker.

Special
Hidden Power
Solarbeam
Thunderbolt/Thunder
Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb
Flamethrower/Fire Blast
Overheat
Focus Blast

It's a normal type, of course it has a great movepool.

Support
Roar
Scary Face
Toxic
Bulk Up
Taunt
Protect
Rest
Sunny Day (sunnybeaming anyone)
Double Team
Endure
Captivate
Substitute
Swagger
Reflect
Heal Bell

Bulk Up and Reflect could make it a sort of tank.

Heh.

Well, Quick Feet ads a nice suprise factor, Could work as a Tauros-like CB'er.
WIDE movepool.

Heal bell on something that can force swiches is good.

rrreeeeaaallllyyy. . .see I heard that it would only work with paralyze status and would negate the speed drop and give the user a speed boost instead. if so, I'm going to use this guy in UU with Poison Orb

One last question, if Granbull is sent out as the 1st poke and has poison orb, does he need to wait one turn for poison orb to take effect or does it immediately come into affect before the 1st turn occurs?

harle: The Orb occurs at the end of the 1st turn. As such, Protect might be a good idea to scout out any T-Waves/Hypnosis/Spore coming your way.

As with all Guts/QF Pokemon, I once again restate my point that the Orbs are really going to kill you in the long run. Without Leftovers recovery, and with things like Sandstorm (or Hail in UU) and Stealth Rock and Spikes, you will die really, really fast. And Granbull is still really slow even with the QF boost - even with everything maxed it doesn't outspeed Jolly Garchomp :/

quick feet might make it too good for UU, overshadowed and outclassed by numerous physical sweepers in OU.I think this has BL written all over it.

if my math is right, with quickfeet granbull reaches a max speed of 310. i think intimidate would help it more, as well as using its speed ev's esewhere

Granbull is still outclassed completely by Ursaring in physical attacking, and neither should even be trying special attacking, so in the end the only two things that Granbull can do that Ursaring can't are Heal Bell, lol Reflect, and Intimidate. Therefore, Granbull is probably staying in UU.

You forgot to add charm to it's support movepool. If for nothing else it can completely nerf your opponents att.

Granbull@lefties
Intimidate
Charm
Return/Body Slam
Close Combat
Heal Bell/Reflect

doesn't have the best defense but it might work

wait, if you used the subpunching set and subbed on the first turn, would the sub take the poison? that set might be able to work.
