Alright, so we (my friend and I) had this idea that a remake of Gold and Silver might be made for the Nintendo DS.
After two month of research and hard work, we completed a video full of hard evidence of why a remake would be made, and why not.
I will put the link to the video here, but I will also write down the outline that we made for better understanding.
**NOTE: We made this video for information purposes only. We are not saying if a remake will come out or not, we just showing facts.**
Here's the link to the actual video:

(note: 1. Steven and Zohar are our real names, if you are wondering ><
2. We actually found a thread on Smogon forums that gave us important information for the video, and we also credited the forums for that)
And here's the outline (the content is the same as the video):
Gold and Silver Remake: Will it Happen?
I.Reasons Why There Might be One
A.In-Game References from D/P
1.The SecretPotion mentions Cianwood City, a city in the Johto region.
2.In Hearthome City, the man who gives you an egg mentions Professor Elm, the main professor in the Johto region.
3.Jasmine, the sixth gym leader in the Johto region, makes an appearance in Sunyshore City and mentions how her town has a lighthouse. This is an obvious reference to Olivine City in Johto.
4.The time of day and day of the week return in D/P, something that only appeared in the G/S/C series.
5.Several cities and routes are identical. Ecruteak City in Johto is similar to Celestic and Eterna cities in Sinnoh, Olivine City in Johto is similar to Canalave and Sunyshore in Sinnoh, Mahogany Town in Johto is similar to Snowpoint City in Sinnoh, and Routes 38 and 39 in Johto are similar to Routes 209 and 210 in Sinnoh.
6.Sweet Honey, an item in Sinnoh that can catch Pokemon in certain trees, is similar to headbutting trees in Johto.
7.Time of day battles and Pokemon appearances returned in D/P, another feature that was only in G/S.
8.The Red Gyarados is mentioned a few times in D/P. The Red Gyarados had to be dealt with in the Lake of Rage, in Johto.
9.Like in G/S, in D/P the rival can be battled twice a week on certain days after the final battle with him.
10.Like G/S, D/P introduced new Eevee evolutions.
II.Reasons Why There Might Not be One
A.Acquirable Pokémon
1.As it is, all Pokémon are acquirable. Even special Pkmn like Mew or Celebi are acquirable through special events.
2.A remake would only guarantee a 100% chance of acquiring certain legendaries like the three cats, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and possibly Celebi.
3.In the past, it seems Nintendo has only been concerned about what can be acquired, not quality of gameplay.
B.TMs/HMs
1.Although the game designers of FR/LG were able to match R/S/E’s TMs and HMs, it will be harder to match G/S’s TMs and HMs to D/P.
2.First of all, some TMs in G/S were made into HMs and some HMs into TMs or learned moves in later games. Some examples include Rock Smash, a TM in G/S that was made into a HM in later games, and Whirlpool, which was an HM, was learned only through level-up in later games, and Flash, a HM from games before D/P, was made into a TM in D/P.
3. Also, with the expansion of 50 TMs/HMs to 90+, a remake of G/S would have to deal with that.
C.Time Capsule
1.In G/S, the time capsule allowed the trade with R/B/Y.
2.If there were to be a remake, the time capsule or a different system would have to be compatible with R/S/E/FR/LG.
D.Cities and Towns
1.Cities and towns would have to be expanded to meet the standards of D/P.
2.In D/P, the sizes of some towns are the size of some cities in past games, and cities are about twice or two and a half times the size of towns in D/P.
III.Fan Remakes and Hoaxes
A.Fan Remakes
1.Using a ROM of FR/LG, hackers changed the entire game to make it like G/S. This glitched, hacked ROM was dubbed “ShinyGold Version.”
2.ShinyGold featured a FR/LG-style landscape of G/S, and followed the same gameplay.
3.However, the music was from FR/LG, and the overall gameplay was glitchy.
4.Some other fan remakes include a spin-off of Crystal Version, with the name Crystallized Echoes.
B.Hoaxes
1.Recently, a magazine in Japan had a “sneak-peek” of the cover of the new “G/S remake.”
2.This sparked controversy, with many people saying it was real and some saying it was a total fake. Unfortunately, it was a fake.
3.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y13B_v94wYA&mode=related&search (the fake "game")
C.How is it a Hoax?
1.If the cover of the game were released, there would have been a considerable amount of information about the game already.
2.Nintendo would have mentioned the release at a press conference.
3.Someone skilled with Photoshop could easily do something like that.
4.If someone leaked information about the release of a remake by giving away game plans or images, Nintendo would sue whoever leaked information.
IV.Things to Look Out For
A.Artwork
1.When FR/LG were released, the artwork of Pkmn 1-150 including some Johto Pkmn was updated from their original metallic shades. (Give examples in video).
2.When more Johto Pkmn’s artworks are updated, that is a sign that there might be a remake.
B.Fakes
1.By using information from section III, fakes and real games can be distinguished.
C.New Releases and Press Conferences
1.Whenever there is a release of a new Pkmn game that is not a traditional RPG, check to see if it mentions anything “coming soon.”
2.Read the news. See whenever Nintendo will mention something like a remake at a press conference.
