mewtwo15026 vs Rising_Dusk in a cardboard box --- Referee Ritter::R_D Victorious

Status
Not open for further replies.
Welcome one and all on this beautiful day to this fight to the faint, this epic saga of epic proportions, this spar of tooth and nail...in a big cardboard box.

Hello spectators around the world, I am Referee Ritter with my trusty Shade by my side, your referee (evidently) for this battle between two trainers and their pokemon. Teamwork is the key today as we are participating in a match of doubles. The two pokemon must cooperate in attack and defense to succeed and win.

And here they are. Our two competitors enter from opposite sides of the box, mewtwo to my left and R_D to my right. Both glare at each other with steely determination. mewtwo breaks the tense silence by yelling out the details of the arena.

2v2 Doubles
DQ: 3 days (4 for refs)
Pokemon in battle must be able to evolve but unevolved. No Pokemon may evolve at any time.

Arena: Cardboard Cell

An overturned cardboard box. The box covers an area of 15ft by 20ft, with the ceiling 10 feet off the ground. Bright light streams through the handles of the box and through a 1-square-foot hole in the ceiling. The floor is dirt, diggable up to 10 feet, and any attack at all may be used.

The walls cannot be destroyed or damaged. The ceiling can be, but a giant screen door is lying on top of the box; removing the ceiling would only allow weather to pass through.

There we go. And what is Rising_Dusk's response?

Switch = KO (Doesn't matter for 2v2 doubles)
Abilities: None
Items: None

And Rising_Dusk gives an interesting twist on the traditional call of response at these battles, denying everything. Well isn't he a negative nancy.

At a call from me, both competitors send electronic copies of their teams to my laptop. Here they are folks

Pichu Gesundheit (F)
Nature: Naughty (Attack up by *, Sp. Def. down by *.)

Pichu is destined to lead Team VioletEye alongside Mewtwo. She'll be able to quell any argument, soothe any ill tempers, and work out any obstacle to a mission, no matter what the pressure.

She just doesn't know it yet.

Pichu is cute and silly, just like any baby Pokemon. She can touch the hearts of even the angriest Pokemon and often exploits this ability to get what she wants. Battles are her favorite pastime, and she uses her wiles to manipulate her opponents there, too. A little more oomph would be appreciated, though...

Gordon is a rather quiet boy. He doesn't say much, but when he does speak, he always says the right thing. Guess that's the upside of being an empath. Conversely, the fact that he picks up so much malice from the air around him must burn him on the inside. Maybe that's why he's quiet. Maybe it's because he's not looking forward to evolution; after all, guys NEVER look good in short skirts.

He's not saying, though...

Seems like this will be a tough match-up! We'll have to play smart, Sneasel. I want you to lead off with a Taunt on that Ralts to keep it from burning anything, since that would be bad. If on any turn after the first, Pichu tries Thunder Wave, go for a Taunt on it. Otherwise, turn two and three you should Faint Attack Ralts twice in a row!

Riolu, your job is a lot easier. I need you to outright Crunch Ralts 3 times in a row no matter what! Get in there and do major damage!

Sneasel:
Taunt Ralts ~ Faint Attack Ralts ~ Faint Attack Ralts
IF(Pichu tries Thunder Wave after Turn 1) THEN(Substitute Taunt on Pichu on that action only)

Riolu:
Crunch Ralts ~ Crunch Ralts ~ Crunch Ralts

Well, this sucks.

GESU:

Give Sneasel a hearty Encore; this'll keep the damage to Gordon at a minimum.
Next, use Charm on Riolu, you charmer, you.
Finish with a Volt Change to Riolu! Use the momentum to get between Gordon and Sneasel! Sneasel!

If you get Taunted, attack Sneasel with Volt Tackle instead of Charm.

~~~
GORDON:
I'm sending you out with your back to Sneasel so you don't have to look at its initial Taunt.
As soon as you hear the Encore from Pichu, turn around and Will-O-Wisp Sneasel's arms!
Follow it up by Shadow Sneaking under Riolu's attack, then striking from behind!
Finish the round with a Confusion attack to Riolu!
If Sneasel's first Taunt angers you, start with the Shadow Sneak maneuver, then Confusion, then Shadow Sneak again, all to Riolu.
~~~
Nice Speed stat on your Riolu, by the way. XD

Round One: Nobody Likes Ralts

"A male Ralts? You are going to be SUCH a transvestite when you evolve!" Sneasel starts off this match viciously with some nasty Taunts about Gordon's choice of clothing. Such a shame he wasn't looking to see the imaginative hand gestures. Enraged, losing all ideas about harmless balls of blue fire, Gordon sneaks into the shadows, causing Riolu to Crunch upon the thin air that Ralts had occupied mere seconds before. Giggling with glee, Gordon pops out of the shadows to attack Riolu from behind. Finally, sitting back lazily, Gesundheit (now known as Gesu) applauds Sneasel's Taunts, asking for an Encore. Not very nice to your teammate there Gesu. Gordon agrees, glaring disapprovingly at the naughty Pichu.

Hoping to satisfy his applauding fans, Sneasal continues to Taunt Gordon, adding insult to injury with...more insults. Riolu adds injury to excessive insults by Crunching heartily on the little Ralts. It seems to have hurt as well. The small, injured, insulted Gordon results with a Confusion attack to represent the turmoil of its troubled soul...or just to hurt Riolu. Gesu, sensing the tides turning, cosies up to Riolu, giving it all the Charm it has. What a small, yellow, traitorous bastard. Riolu's heart melts like a snowman in summer from the charming Pichu, and its attack drops, as it couldn't bear to hurt anyone near that adorable little turncoat ball of cute.

Ignoring the antics about it, Sneasel continues to Taunt Gordon as it has been dong constantly for the entire round. How does he keep coming up with these insults? Riolu goes in for the Crunch, but is wary of sneaky Ralts tricks this time. Sure enough, Gordon has snuck into the shadows and hits Riolu from behind. The fighting fox is a bit more ready this time, but only manages to hit for half damage. Finally, Gesu reunites the team by returning to mewtwo's side and attacking Riolu with a ferocious Volt Tackle, taking a bit of a hit in the process. Riolu is still enamoured with the Pichu, even though Gesu just charged at it while surrounded by craploads of electricity. Oh, well.

mewtwo you're up

EDIT: just realised that Riolu isn't fighting/steel yet. Well, I'll fix it when I get access to a computer

Hi. I know it's not my turn, but there are several mistakes in that reffing that I've spoken with the ref bosses about and that need to be fixed before the match can continue.

  • Encored attacks do not cost extra energy / STAB support moves cost 1 less energy

    (Source) You currently have Sneasel's energy as having been accosted 100-(10+10+4+10+8)=58, which is incorrect in two ways. Taunt, as a Dark-type move, costs Sneasel 9 energy, and Encore removes the "repeated energy cost charge". So it should be: 100-(9+9+9)=73. Big difference.

    You also messed up the other energy costs:
    Sneasel: 100-(9+9+9)=73
    Riolu: 100-(6+6+4+6+8)=70
    Ralts: 100-(3+2+3)=92
    Pichu: 100-(10+6+7)=77
  • Priority attacks cannot be used to dodge/reduce damage and deal damage at the same time

    A priority move like Shadow Sneak can be used to dodge an attack, but if used as such, cannot also deal damage during the same action. You currently have Ralts using Shadow Sneak to dodge Crunch and then cut the second Crunch's damage in half, which is incorrect. If Shadow Sneak is used to deal damage, then Ralts must take the full hit of Crunch each time. Since he issued first Shadow Sneak as "maneuver to dodge", it should dodge and do no damage, but the second Shadow Sneak is listed as normal, and thus should do damage and prevent none.
I've taken the liberty to recalculate totals for this round personally. Also, note that it pains me to say this, but you forgot the -2 in the calcs for Riolu's damage, so Ralts takes much less damage than you've listed.

Action 1:
Ralts Shadow Sneak @ Dodge: Success
Sneasel Taunt @ Ralts: Success

That's Gordon in a nutshell right there. Captured perfectly. (He doesn't actually know about Dawn Stone yet...)

So sorry for all the mistakes, that was my first round reffing so with your help hopefully I won't make any next time. Also, I didn't have the -2 for the second action because Riolu was able to do the Crunch before being Charmed as he outsped Pichu.

If Sneasel does anything except attack, Encore the weasel. Otherwise, wait for Gordon to act, then Thunder Wave Sneasel.

Next, Charm Sneasel if it's doing damage OR Volt Switch it if it isn't.

Finally, get in the face of and Sweet Kiss Sneasel.

Alright, guys, that was a bit rough, but I've got a plan that will put us in a good position.

Sneasel, lead off with a Taunt at Pichu. Since he's trying to do some crazy support stuff, he will be stuck doing nothing after a Taunt! Furthermore, since Ralts is still Taunted from your obscenities last round, this will work out in our favor! Next, use Faint Attack on Ralts so Pichu will attempt a Charm and fail, then follow it up with a Screech on Ralts to assist Riolu's attack!

Now, Riolu, you're a little behind but you did solid damage last round! Lead off with a Swords Dance as Ralts tries to dodge a predicted attack with Shadow Sneak; this will offset your reduced Attack stat. Follow it up with a Force Palm on Pichu, hopefully paralyzing it. Last action, use Crunch on Ralts since he'll have reduced Defense by then and your Crunch will succeed since he is using an offensive Shadow Sneak!

Round Two: 'Fusionhax FTW

Gordon, still angered at the Sneasel, melts into a shadow and sneaks past Riolu to avoid his attack. But what's that, he's not attacking? Riolu starts spinning rapidly, dancing with swords. His attacking prowess returns to its usual level of "Let's rape shit" as Gordon appears out of his shadow feeling stupid. Sneasel starts off in the same vein that he did the previous round, by Taunting Gesu "You suck balls, go play your ukelele!" Gesu attempts to applaud the weasel for his witty comment, but instead the insult riles him and all he is unable to ask for an Encore

Sneasel swifly and sneakily Faint Attacks Ralts, hitting for quite considerable damage and leaving Gordon in his own private little world of pain. Forcefully, Riolu palms Pichu, sending him flying into an unbreakable cardboard (such an oxymoron) wall. Ralts seems dazed and confused from the Faint Attack of before...oh no, silly me, the future (BAN ME PLEASE) was just using Confusion. Riolu is leifted into the air and surrounded in a blue psychic glow before falling back to earth. He wanders around cross-eyed and slurring his speech; no he's not drunk, he's just Slightly Confused. Pichu tries to sidle up to Sneasel to Charm his attack down two stages, but the insult from before angers him so much that he can't bear to do it, and resorts to spazzing out and shaking his small fists while his cute face is contorted in anger.

Gordon speedily sneaks into the shadows and smacks Riolu, but it is not enough to snap him out of his confusion. Sneasel screeches loudly at Gordon, the sound amplified in the confines of the cardboard box to an earsplitting level. Frightened, Gordon shrinks back and his Defense drops two whole stages. Ouch! That's gotta be bad. Riolu senses this and stalks in for the Crunch, but his confusion makes him bend over and bite himself in confusion on his...well lets not say where he bit himself. Finally, Gesu goes to sweetly kiss Sneasel but those insults swam into his mind and the thought of pashing the mean weasel repulsed him and he pulled away.

Ingram curses under his breath.

That round went well, but the confusion will cost him an extra round of damage at the end of the day that he was hoping to avoid from Ralts. There's nothing he can do about it now, but he plans his moves accordingly and does his math. He knows what to do.

"Alright, Sneasel! You're leading the HP game, but you're getting tired too! We'll need to play a bit conservatively with your energy here on in. You and Riolu are going to take Ralts down this round no matter what happens. I need you to spam Faint Attack on Ralts until it faints, one after another! These will come together with Riolu's attack to KO it if it doesn't dodge. You'll likely be finishing the match yourself given Riolu's weakened condition, so prepare for the long haul! If Ralts attempts any dodging maneuvers, substitute Ice Punch against Pichu for your action and then return to Faint Attacking Ralts until it's KOed!"

"Riolu, I'm sorry that he hit you so critically, and I know you tried not to hit yourself! Anyway, since it was only slight confusion, thankfully, you will snap out of it on your first action. That's good, because it guarantees the KO on Ralts! Lead with a flurry of Crunches right to Ralts until it faints! Once it faints, then turn your attention to Pichu and alternate between Force Palm and Brick Break!"

P.S. I asked Deck about the fact that each Pokemon here is getting two substitutions, and he said that it's OK because the second substitutions for each Pokemon involve a KO as the condition and this is a multi-battle.

Sneasel:

Oh my God, he says Oscillate. That is amazing. O_O

GORDON: You're screwed.

First turn, if you can manage to do so, use your Shadow Sneak escape tactic to duck the initial attacks just as Sneasel and Riolu launch them. This way, even if they catch on to your strategy, Pichu takes minimal damage. Make sure you end up in the northeast.

On your second action, Confusion attack Riolu; see if you can spin it around a bunch to really baffle it. Finally, Shadow Sneak back to your corner as soon as you see attacks coming your way.

~~~
GESU: Remember how Luke took care of those AT-ATs? Yeah.
First, bum-rush Riolu with Volt Change, then let your attack carry you to the southwest corner of the box. This'll give you time to launch your next attacks as those two run over to Gordon.
From there, Grass Knot Sneasel's ankles together so it gets stuck, then Grass Knot its arms to its sides so it's completely hogtied. Use as much Energy as you need to to make this work.
Round Three: Pain. Suffering. Nearly Death
Riolu's eyes focus and narrow, and it loses the derpy look from it's face...it has snapped out of confusion!
Dusk's pokemon glare and prepare to attack. Riolu's mouth opens wide and Sneasel prepares to faint away, but Gordon shits his pants at his impending doom and sneaks into the shadows like the pussy transvestite he is. Remembering their orders for this situation, Riolu and Sneasel stop, turn swiftly and dive upon poor Gesu, smacking it with a powerful Ice Punch and Brick Break. Yowcherz! The hurt Gesu tenderly zips in and Volt Switches Riolu, only to whizz off to a deserted corner of the cardboard box.
This time the weak little transvestite decides to man up and be a man and face the attacks. It turns out this was a bad idea as the Faint Attack hits it for massive damage, follwed by an equally devastating Crunch, leaving Gordon just hanging on. Oh no, Gordon's dress has bite marks! Go sew that up with your sewing machine Gordo you woman. Gesu, trying to be devious, attempts to entangle Sneasel's feet with a dastardly Grass Knot. Sadly, there are no convenient plants inside a massive cardboard box (funny that) and the poor pulverized trees sacrificed to construct this cardboard monstrosity are too dead to be of any use.
Scared of DEAAAATH in the near future, Gordon Shadow Sneaks to the corner to hide, shiver and caress his dress tenderly. Dusk's pokemon once more turn to the poor, helpless Pichu and smack it once more with Ice Punch and Brick Break. Gesu tires stupidly once again to entangle Sneasel with knots of grass, but once again it fails.
mewtwo's team is just hanging on here! Will mewtwo be able to get out of this sticky situation, or will it all be over shortly? Let's find out, next time on the live coverage of this intense ASB Battle
Damn. And I was hoping Ralts could at least score a KO on SOMETHING. This match WAS a little one-sided: two status fighters, one of which a Psychic-type, against a Sneasel with Taunt. At the start, though, it looked like it could have gone either way; I guess I should congratulate RD on the "comeback". :)
Arena: Cardboard Cell
An overturned cardboard box. The box covers an area of 15ft by 20ft, with the ceiling 10 feet off the ground. Bright light streams through the handles of the box and through a 1-square-foot hole in the ceiling. The floor is dirt, diggable up to 10 feet, and any attack at all may be used.
By this logic, shouldn't Knot have worked? I dunno. Also, although the transvestite comments are OK, Ritter definitely needs to stop being mean to my Pokemon.
Gesu, spam Volt Change on Riolu, and Gordon, spam Evasive Shadow Sneak. If neither foe tries to damage you during a round OR Riolu gets into Confusion KO range, Confusion Riolu.
I think he's just playing it up because you responded positively to it in the first round. I wouldn't take the joking meanness personally, Mewtwo.
It failed because of how you used it, not the environment. In order to control it like a pro and use it like a binding move, you need to be Grass-type. If you'd used it just for damage, it would've succeeded.
It was all that second round man! The first round you really evened the playing field with that smooth Encore. You just misplayed the second round a bit by setting up Pichu's attacks so that I could Taunt it and really steal back the momentum! That could've really gone either way if it'd been ordered differently. Either way, it was a great match! Thanks for having me!
Alright, guys, that last round went in our favor big-time! You predicted perfectly and put them in a nasty position, guys, so good job the both of you! Sneasel, I need you to score these KOs because you really need the experience! For that reason, I want you to lead with an Ice Punch on Pichu first round! Follow it up with an Ice Shard on Ralts, which should KO it. If it somehow survives, use Ice Shard for your last action as well!
Riolu, like I said before, let Sneasel get this experience! Just use Foresight for all of your actions and bide time!
Round 4: Adieu, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Sayonara.
I probably shouldn't be too harsh on mewtwo's pokemon *cringes guiltily*
We are coming into the final stages of this intense battle. mewtwo's beautiful, glorious pokemon are near the end of the line, while Dusk's pokemon are bright and ready for action. Will mewtwo pull off an amazing comeback? Let's see...
Gordon, displaying immense intelligence and tactics, evades all possible attacks with a swift sneak into the shadows. Sneasel, uninterested, turns his attention to Gesu. The small but immensely heroic Pichu shivers as the menacing form of Sneasel closes in and pummels him into the ground with a punch from an ice coated fist. Pichu, with a resilient but distinctly fainted look on his face, rests peacefully, squashed into the cardboard. Riolu, however, is scared of all the creepy ghosts, and uses his Foresight to see them. Aha! We see you, creepy ghosts! We see you! *wildly points towards nothing*
Gordon senses his time is nigh, and tries to evade with a speedy Shadow Sneak, but the even faster shards of ice speeding from Sneasel pierce the Ralts through his small but valient heart. He falls to the cardboard, deep scarlet blood seeping out and soaking into the cardboard and marring the purity of his pristine white dress...not really. His eyes just go all swirly.
Anyway, Rising_Dusk comes down to congratulate the great efforts of his pokemon, and mewtwo15026 does likewise. Good night world, this has been Referee Ritter.
gg wp everybody. Thanks for being so nice to me as a newbie ref. Now, onto counters, and it was enjoyable as a first battle to ref.
Sneasel, Riolu, Gesu and Gordon get one MC, DC and EC each
Sneasel gets two KO counters
I get 2 RC
Floraedit: you both get 2 Trainer Counters. Sorry for the late response.
What about Trainer Counters?
Hey, thanks, RD, for a great battle. Something about receiving accolades from a mod makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. :)
I think that, in that second round, I forgot that Sneasel could also taunt Pichu. D'oh. >.<
And Ritter, good job reffing. Seriously. Although the comments (outside calling Ralts a transvestite) were a bit harsh at times, I enjoyed your battle logs. May you continue to improve in the future. :)
I'm working on a fanfic that stars a Kirlia who's taken abuse for his feminine appearance. That's why I encouraged the transvestite comments, jfyi. SPOILER: It gets better...
