The ASB Tournament Arena

Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Coin flip is up...and Athenodoros is the first to send out a Pokemon! Good luck, you two, and may the best battler win!

Good luck, Atheno! I'll open with Ron!

Here's what's up. You're facing an opponent 4x weak to your STAB. Obviously, our first course of action should be to Taunt it so that it can't Toxic or Yawn us. Next, we should definitely use Leech Seed to keep our health up. Finally, we should Toxic it so that it dies faster.

Summary:
Taunt -> Leech Seed -> Toxic

Good luck, Dummy!

Well at least they were kind enough not to just go straight for the neck with Grass moves. This way Swampert, you can Protect against his Taunt, and then Yawn at him so he'll fall asleep later. Finally, finish up with a powerful Avalanche to repay him for the passive damage he'll have given you.

Protect => Yawn => Avalanche

BEGIN ROUND ONE

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the First ASB Singles Tournament! I'm your host, DarkSlay, narrating what should be an excellent match-up between two very competent trainers climbing their way to the grand prize! Let's get this show on the road!

Ron the Whimsicott, that Prankster, decides to take full advantage of its ability to Taunt its foe into attacking it. It dances around playfully, trying to affect his opponent. Alas, Poseidon the Swampert is able to Protect itself from the little cotton ball's tactics, and keeps his composure for the match.

Ron, furious that his Taunt didn't work, decides instead to use some Leech Seeds to cause some damage and heal some damage in the future. The seeds sprout out, and hit Neptune directly on the head! Neptune has been seeded! Neptune, however, apparently is bored with the opponent's attempts to cause residual damage, and opts to Yawn at its opponent. The breath of Neptune reaches Ron, who suddenly becomes tired. Ron will fall asleep in three (3) actions!

Ron isn't done yet! It quickly gurgles some liquid Toxic in its mouth, and spits it at its opponent. The thick liquid just barely connects! Neptune is now badly poisoned! The air around Swampert begins to grow cold, and small snow rocks appear from around him. He chucks them at Ron, causing an Avalanche! Unfortunately, since Swampert didn't take damage from the turn before, it's only a small attack. Nevertheless, Whimsicott is hit with good damage!

Poseidon, you just keep going the way you were going. This isn't looking good for you, but just keep using Avalanche unless he uses Giga Drain First, in which you should respond with a Mirror Coat if you can.

Avalanche => Avalanche => Avalanche

Substitute Mirror Coat to reflect any Giga Drains.

Let's be really obnoxious, shall we? Begin with MEGA Drain (see what I did thar?), then use Taunt. You're probably not going to be awake on action 3, but, if you are, use Fake Tears.

Summary:
Mega Drain -> Taunt -> Fake Tears

BEGIN ROUND TWO

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen! Will Poseidon be able to combat this type disadvantage, or will Ron be able to get the upper hand? We'll find out soon enough!

Ron is the first to attack, taking energy particles from around him and combining them into a small Mega Drain beam! This hits Poseidon for huge damage! Poseidon retaliates with a heavily strengthened Avalance, which is able to topple over Ron and score a Critical Hit! What a great shot that causes massive damage!

Ron, feeling a bit sleepy, decides to infuriate his opponent even more by issuing a Taunt! The prankster hops around, which sends Poseidon into a fury. Poseidon fell for the Taunt! Once again, Poseidon decides to ram his opponent with an Avalance, causing some great damage! Ron finally gives into his tiredness, and falls asleep. Ron is in a restless (3 Action) sleep!

Ron sits on the ground, snoozing from the Yawn. It's fast asleep! Poseidon once again continues its Avalanche barrage and deals heavy damage. However, Swampert looks to be exhausted by this, as it used up a ton of energy and is starting to give into the Toxic and Leech Seed. Who will come out on top?

Welcome back, folks! Let's see what this round has in store for us!

Ron still is lying on the floor in a sleeping state. It's fast asleep! Poseidon tries to take advantage of the situation with a Substitute (15 HP), but for some reason cannot distinguish the anger it has for Ron, and the move failed!

Once again, we see Dummy007 yelling at his Whimsicott to wake up, but the cotton ball just simply sleeps on as the match progresses. It's fast asleep! Poseidon tries to relax itself with a chill, but once again, cannot seem to calm down his emotions of hatred towards his opponent. The move failed!

Ron finally awakes from his slumber, to the relief of his trainer. Ron is so upset because it has ignored his trainer due to sleep, it starts to cry Fake Tears! The tears catch Poseidon off guard, and lowers his Special Defense by two stages! Poseidon tries one last effort to emit a loud Yawn to make his opponent sleepy, but he remains devoted to the hatred of his opponent, and the move failed!

Good job, buddy. Time to let Neville finish up!

Summary:
Stun Spore -> Leech Seed -> Toxic (if Stun Spore misses, use it again and push everything back an action)

EDIT: Probably should have read through Astraea's move list before making these actions...

Astraea, just Magic Coat => Magic Coat => Magic Coat

If it gets paralysed or misses before you act because of Prankster (or is frozen), use Ice Beam.

Okay, quick time out before this reffing. Two things. One, do not edit your post after someone else posts. I don't care if it was some sort of fun edit, but I cannot be sure that you did not change your move orders. This is a warning.

Also, Atheno, I decided to not implement your substitutions. Magic Guard is +4 Priority, not +1, so regardless of para and Prankster, you are always going first. You would not be able to know about paralysis this way, so the substitution would be impossible.

Well he can't let off an attack now even if he's willing to die, so Astraea I think it should be high time to attack. Just go with Ice Beam => Signal Beam => Ice Beam. If he tries to use Taunt, use Magic Coat instead.

Hmm...let's try something. Take a chill pill, then use Stun Spore. If you're somehow alive by the end of action 2, use Leech Seed. Make action 3 Stun Spore if it fails action 2 and Whimsicott is still alive. You've done well, Ron; time to let Neville clean up!

Starmie, we're going to have to be a bit tricky here, because this was always going to be a terrible matchup. Start up with erecting some walls of light to Reflect some of the damage, and then just Chill. Finally, use Pain Split to even things up a bit.

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen!

Neville begins the round with a menacing Crunch, biting so hard into Astraea it causes a CRITICAL HIT! What power! Astraea responds by surrounding itself in a Reflective light box. This should weaken those Physical attacks for a while!

Nevile sees through his opponent's tactics, and decides to send a Dark Pulse through the screen. The attack hits directly, scoring great damage! Instead of attacking, Astraea seemspretty calm about the situation, and decides to chill instead. I wonder what plan it has...

Neville continues on the offensive, striking a hearty Megahorn! It is weakened by the reflective screen, but manages to score pretty good damage! What's THIS? Astraea has created a link between itself and Neville, and has begun to share its pain with its opponent: Pain Split! Astraea recovers some much needed damage, while Neville is left with a huge chunk of damage taken from it! However, Astraea is left with a dangerous amount of energy left. Hmmph. We're still in a bad way Starmie, but you can stil manage this: just go for a simple Hydro Pump => Chill => Hydro Pump for now, and if he ever decides to use Taunt, move everything along and shove Magic Coat in the first time he tries it!

Let's go with Taunt on action 1 to force a Magic Coat. Next, use an evasive Dig. Finish up with a deadly Dark Pulse.
