Well, we’re finally here. The Swamp of Sorrow. Thank god. In the murks and swallows comes a confrontation of the Pokemon variety, this time over who got us lost here in the first place! It’s Dogfish44 who seems to think Engineer Pikachu got us lost, but EP is countering that it was, in fact Dogfish44 who’s the culprit! The two battlers, locked in wordplay and high emotions, decide to settle the facts of the matter with a battle of their Pokemon companions! Of course! Dogfish44 releases his Klink, Rust, and his Zorua, Honey to face off with Engineer Pikachu’s Croagunk, Kailu, and Zubat, Kozu!

The swamp is so gross and sloshy that Rust and Honey get stuck repeatedly in the mud, slowing them down greatly! Way to start with a solid disadvantage! Kozu, flying overhead, is laughing from above while its partner Kailu plays jovially in the muck like it does it every day. Yuck! In any case, Kozu makes a beefy Substitute that conforms to the new CAP ASB move description for “Substitute” before its partner lurches up to Honey with a Cross Chop that does crazy damage! Honey has devious plans in order, because it smashes it right back with a rush of Psychic energy! Klink, barely peeking above the layer of filth and mud on the ground, targets Kailu and gets Locked-On for its next attack!

Kozu, from behind the safety of its Substitute, swoops down to Honey with a powerful Brave Bird on Honey that scores a critical hit while Rust billows out a crazy Zap Cannon at Kailu that paralyzes it! Kailu doesn’t like this at all and instantly zooms back at Rust with its powerful Revenge! At the same time, Honey Counters Kozu’s Brave Bird down in the reeds, obliterating its Substitute but leaving Kozu off scott-free!

Kozu reels, letting out a slight Air Cutter attack that does menial damage but still gets the point across. Kailu and Honey exchange monster blows gain, and Klink gets off a Thunderbolt on Kailu, bringing it close to the brink of collapse! A lot happened just there; let’s hope I don’t faint from the excitement (and smell)!

Kozu jumps back into the action by putting Rust to sleep with a Hypnosis attack! Honey sloshes through the mud toward Kailu and finishes it off with a Shadow Ball! Kozu feels slighted by the loss of its teammate, so it swoops down to exact its revenge with a Brave Bird that Knocks Honey Out cold in the sorrowful mud! Rust just sleeps away through both KOs and wakes up with just enough time to see Kozu try to make a 21 HP Substitute but only manage to make a 20 HP Substitute because of the new rules! Rust instantly demolishes the Substitute with a Thunderbolt, leaving it one-on-one in the swamp of sorrow!

It's down to Kozu and Rust to settle this dispute! Kozu decides to take it easy this round, firing off a Confuse Ray at Rust that severely confuses it, causing it to hurt itself in confusion! Unwilling to give its opponent an opening, Kozu then puts Rust to sleep again with another Hypnosis! Finally, Kozu Chills as Rust starts waking up from its nap. What an uneventful round! The only thing that happened was that Rust lost 3 HP/EN :/

Kozu looks scared, firing off another Confuse Ray and hoping for a little luck. No such luck comes right away, meaning Rust clips it with a big Thunderbolt! Kozu is getting nervous now, going for a last-ditch Hypnosis that connects for a third time, giving it enough wiggle room to land a Brave Bird on the sleeping gear. But Rust wakes right up again, delivering a finishing blow in the form of another Thunderbolt that seals the victory for its team. Dogfish44 WINS!
