Pinnacle Ruins

Sized for - 3 Pokémon per side. (Large)
Water Depth - Shallow (Surf, Muddy Water, and Dive can be used by drawing on the water source. Small Pokémon can submerge themselves, larger Pokémon can simply wade through the water with little difficulty.)
Seismic Activity - Allowed (The arena is sufficiently far from unprotected structures, or is properly insulated against this sort of punishment. Earthquake, Magnitude, Fissure, and Dig are permitted.)

A ruined complex from a bygone age, these crumbling pillars and walls bask in the high-altitute sunlight. The air is fridgid in this altitutes, but the sun alleviates this.

Pinnacle Ruins has the following traits:

  • The long trek up to reach this arena takes its toll on even the hardiest traveler - both players' lead Pokémon (or only Pokémon as the case may be) have one less rank in Attack and Special Attack for the first three rounds of battle.
  • Weather affinity (Sun) and Weather affinity (Hail). The appropriate weathers last an additional two (2) rounds.
  • Seismic attacks, while not forbidden, are hazardous. Each time one is used, the user risks a 10% chance that a nearby pillar or old wall will crumple onto them; dealing damage as a R5 user of non-STAB Rock Slide.

LouisCyphre's possible choices:

Larvesta (Female) - Empress
Nature: Bold (Def: +1, Atk: -1)
Type: Bug / Fire
Bug Type - Bug STAB; More mobility in dense brush or forest conditions. Gain an extra guaranteed attack on multi-hit moves.

Abilities:
Flame Body - (Innate) This Pokemon’s external temperature is kept at such a high level that any contact attack used on this Pokemon has a 30% chance of burning the opponent.
0 -
(DW) Swarm - (Dormant) - (Innate) When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33% (flat), the Base Attack Power of any Bug-typed attack is increased by 2. (eg Silver Wind goes from 6 to 8, X-Scissor from 8 to 10)

Attacks:

Level-Up Moves - Ember, String Shot, Leech Life, Take Down, Bug Buzz, Flare Blitz
Egg Moves - Morning Sun, Magnet Rise, Harden
BW TM Moves - Will-O-Wisp, Sunny Day, Light Screen

A rigid follower and enforcer of rules, Larvesta has little tolerance for those who are lazy or disruptive of order. A stringent believer in picking one's battles, she does not attack until all due preperations and ceremonies have been completed; only when all appropriate wards and safegaurds are up and fortified will Larvesta begin her offensive.

Horsea (Male)
Nature: Lonely (Atk: +1, Def: -1)
Type: Water
Water Type - Water STAB; Can breathe and have excellent mobility when underwater, are less capable on land unless they are entirely amphibious.

(DW) Damp - (Dormant) - (Innate) This Pokemon releases a damp mist upon entry into battle that short circuits the opponent’s ability to use Selfdestruct or Explosion.

BW TM Moves - Rain Dance(*), Scald(*), Substitute(*), Ice Beam

This Horsea has something to prove to the world, and he's going to prove it all on his own. He prefers to rely on power whenever he can, but he carries an array of hindering and defensive moves in case he needs the protection - again, relying on only himself for this sort of support.

Teddiursa (Male) - Roosevelt

Type: Normal
Normal Type - Normal STAB; adapt comfortably to any surrounding after 3 actions. Able to use Outrage without losing focus.

It can also grab dropped or naturally occuring hold items in arenas.
Quick Feet - (Innate) This Pokemon feels a sense of anxiety when afflicted with a status condition and its speed increases by 50% (x1.5). Although it can still be fully paralyzed, it will not suffer the speed drop.
(DW) Honey Gather - (Dormant) - (Innate) This Pokemon emits a scent of sweet honey that lowers all foes' Evasion by one (1) Stage.

Egg Moves - Belly Drum, Close Combat, Yawn
BW TM Moves - Frustration, Dig, Protect

A bit ill-behaved and mischievious, Roosevelt takes much after his namesake in terms of jokes and pranks. Jovial and easy to please; Roosevelt is generally content. He is slow to anger; but can be dangerous when roused by an adversary.

Scratchet (Female) - Pumyra
Nature: Modest (SpA: +1, Atk: -1)
Type: Normal / Fighting
Normal Type - Normal STAB; adapt comfortably to any surrounding after 3 actions. Able to use Outrage without losing focus.
Fighting Type - Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions of throwing/grappling moves. Superior reaction time in close quarters.

Abilities:
Scrappy - (Innate) This Pokemon’s Normal and Fighting attacks carry a special signature that can damage Ghosts, even if they have phased out.
Prankster - (Innate) The Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging attacks an increase in priority level.
(DW) Vital Spirit - (Dormant) - (Innate) This Pokemon has a high vitality and alertness making it immune to sleep induced by other Pokemon. Its normal state of sleeplessness makes it take 1 less damage/action from Ghost Curse. If it is put to sleep by a Pokemon with Mold Breaker it will wake up the next action.

Observant and withdrawn, Scratchet watches the interactions rather than interacting herself. Her moves are often calculated to have long-lasting effects - no need for unnecessary waste on something that only lasts for the moment.

Temperantia's possible choices:

Hoppip- Iris (F)
Nature: Jolly (Decrease SpA by 1, Increase Spe by 15%) [Acc modifier: 58^2/290=12%]
Type: Grass/Flying
Grass: Grass STAB; Immunity to Leech Seed and Worry Seed. 50% reduction in status effect chance of oncoming "powder" attacks. More mobile in areas with strong natural light sources. Superior senses in tall grass and forest areas. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus.
Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks outside extremely odd circumstances even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.

Abilities:
Chlorophyll: (Innate) During bright sunlight, this Pokemon’s cells absorb more solar energy, doubling (x2) their speed.
Leaf Guard: (Innate) In bright sunlight the Pokemon is surrounded by a faint green glow. The glow protects it from all permanent and temporary status conditions.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

"Sorry we're late everyone! We took a wrong turn into a cave mouth on the way here. Let's go, Pazuzu the Zubat!"

"Oh dear brother, you do realize you don't have to release your Pokemon, don't you? He's been following behind you all the way up the mountain."

"Alright, Pumyra, this shouldn't be too difficult. The terrain favors you in a big way - it's ruined and dusty; but builings are still unnatural, and unnatural means Tri Attack!"

Substitute (25 HP) | Nature Power (Tri-Attack) | Fury Swipes

"Acrobatics Pazuzu! Then, follow up with Wing Attack and finish with Confuse Ray. If for some reason his substitute isn't broken by the third action, Sludge Bomb it."

Both challengers have roughed their way up the mountain to the arena, and all their Pokemon are looking tired. LouisCyphre commands Pumyra the Scratchet to step forward, while Temperantia gives a knowing look to Pazuzu the Zubat as he flaps his way to the center of the arena. Pumyra starts out by swiftly making a Substitute to shield herself from Pazuzu's strikes, while Pazuzu counters back with an Acrobatics. The attack fails to break the substitute, partly because Pazuzu is already worn out from his long trek. Pumyra responds to this by using Nature Power, summoning a Tri Attack that weakly hits Pazuzu. Pumyra must also be tired from getting here. Pazuzu, still trying to break Pumyra's substitute, uses a weak Wing Attack that somehow manages to shred the substitute into pieces. He then follows up with a Confuse Ray, which lands an Intense Confusion on Pumyra. Pumyra attempts to counterattack with Fury Swipes, but hits herself in confusion! However, she barely does any damage to herself with her high defenses and weakened attack power from the climb...

When you hurt yourself in confusion, the counter is brought down to 1 (thus it would snap out of confusion before it attacked next). I just listed it as snapping out of confusion then for simplicity.

Alright, the data audit thread specifically says to one, but after talking with others I agree it should be by one, so I'll change it so that Scratchet has 2 actions of confusion left

"Let's pressure our opponents with offense, Pazuzu! Use Air Cutter to bring some luck into the equation, then use Brave Bird. Finish with Confuse Ray, but if Scratchet sets up a successful Substitute on the second or third action, replace your second and third actions with Acrobatics and Wing Attack, respectively!"

Pumyra start off the round breaking through her confusion with a Nature Power, which again becomes a Tri Attack. This time, however, it manages to inflict Light Freeze on Pazuzu, freezing it for one action. Pazuzu attempts to attack Pumyra, but is frozen solid! Pumyra finally snaps out of confusion and sees that her opponent is unable to move, so she sets up another Substitute. Pazuzu suddenly cracks open the ice encasing him, and uses swift Acrobatics to retaliate, however, it fails to break the substitute. Pumyra starts to recover HP using Roost (how......?), while Pazuzu uses a Wing Attack to rip open the new substitute.

"Okay, that's that. This match-up is beyond hope for you right now. Pumyra, you're tagging out with Roosevelt. Teddy; be on your guard - their likely switches are Nidorino or Shellder."

"Ha, your tactics are amusing. But, I'll meddle with your plan. Iris, go!
Iris, start by setting up a Reflect to destroy his offenses. Then, set up a Leech Seed on Roosevelt and finish by using some Acrobatics to rough him up. If he ever uses Belly Drum, replace your next action with Encore only once."

Roosevelt notices this, and runs up to Iris to hit her with a Frustration! Poor Iris.... that's just mean of Roosevelt! Oh well, at least Iris will wake up next action...

Iris, suddenly waking up from her sleep, launches tiny Stun Spores at Roosevelt, paralyzing him. The paralysis activates Roosevelt's Quick Feet, and him starts speeding towards Iris, preparing to smack him with a Fury Swipes. However, he is not used to his newfound Speed, and his attack misses. This angers Roosevelt, so he follows up with a Frustration, dealing a critical hit and bypassing the Reflect Iris set up. Iris found this fascinating, and orders an Encore of this performance (why....?). Roosevelt delivers, using Frustration again, although this time it does not crit. Iris is disappointed, and she takes this out by spreading Leech Seeds all over Roosevelt to sap his HP.

Roosevelt hurriedly finished up his encore performance with another Frustration, doing good damage as there was nothing protecting Iris. Iris immediately fixes this by putting up another Reflect. Roosevelt finds using screens really boring, so he Yawns, while Iris shoots a red beam up at the sky using Sunny Day, making the sun shine brightly for 6 rounds! This extra sunlight activates Iris's Chlorophyll ability, allowing it to outspeed Roosevelt and slam it with an Acrobatics. Roosevelt, upset that Iris once again outspeeds him, pounds on his Belly like a Drum, putting him in a frenzy and increasing his Attack stat by an enormous amount. Roosevelt's Yawn kicks in, but Iris's Leaf Guard ability activates as the sun is shining, so she does not fall asleep!

"Those don't have Leaf Guard... oh for the love of; alright then. Plan Γ, Ted - you know what to do!"

Frustration | Frustration | Frustration
If Hoppip uses Encore; use Frustration for lack of superior options.

"Iris, my first command is simply one word: Encore. This should keep his hands tied drumming his belly while you fire a Seed Bomb and use Acrobatics on him for the KO."

I really could have reffed this a couple of different ways, but all of them would have ended up in Teddiursa fainting anyways. This one made the most sense to me so i just went with it.

Iris was amazed by the intense fury that Roosevelt suddenly created, and wanting to see it again, she used Encore. Roosevelt tried his hardest to whip up that same anger with another Belly Drum, but found himself too tired to continue and fainted from a lack of energy!
